You could not ask for a nicer firm to work with. They are caring, very knowledgeable, and fair in their pricing. We were ready to replace our heater when it went out and we were without heat during a few days of cold weather. This is a family business and Kevin Russo, a fine young man was our serviceman. He got down fast to thoroughly check out the system and determined what the problems were, including a bad thermostat. He made all the repairs and we are happy to say that the system is working better than it did before. Recently we all went through a historic heatwave of 115 degrees or more. Scott, and Russ, his Dad before him have always been my heating and cooling guys. On a Friday, after 5 PM, my air conditioner stopped cooling. I called Scott, but he was out of town for the weekend, so I had to have another company come out and fix it, and they charged me a lot more than it should have been. At least I got it running through that horrible, hot weekend. Fast forward to the Tuesday, and who should appear but Scott! Unannounced, he came by to see if everything was OK. I had had a power surge the night before, but was unaware that the surge had taken out my air conditioning once and for all and I would need a new unit. I am very sensitive to heat, and Scott promised he would get it as quickly as he could. He also suggested I call my insurance company and see if they would cover all, or part of the cost, and wrote up a statement for me to give them verifying the surge had burned out all the electrical on my A/C. He had the new unit on Friday, and came on Saturday to spend half the day installing it for me so I wouldn't have to go through another weekend uncomfortable. I also got a call from insurance that day saying they were sending me a check for full replacement cost, minus my deductible! This is the kind of above and beyond service you will get from this company. You get excellent service from a really nice guy, and will never get gouged on the bill. Like finding a great and trusted mechanic to work on your 69 Porsche, a great heating and cooling guy who will now plow a hole into your checkbook ranks right near the top of "gotta have" connections. My family woke up to a 60 degree house this morning after the "furnace igniter" gave way in the middle of the night. Not normally a huge problem, but it was below 20 degrees outside (coldest night of the year in Portland). Thanks to a neighbor who had worked with Scott (the owner) before, he was out right quick. As Scott was getting underway, he mentioned that he always hits the houses whose furnace dies overnight. Could have been a line, but I gotta believe based on the small amount of my bill and the speed in which he did the job he was serious and on his way to the next poor soul whose house was turning into an icebox by the minute. For me, this was a 10/10 experience because not only did Scott fix the issue, but he completely vacuumed out the furnace and swapped out the dirty filters without even telling me ahead of time. He just did it and I stood there stunned, waiting for it to show up as a line item on the bill, but no, it was not on the bill and like I said...he was done in 15 minutes and the house was on it's way to warm again! read more

I've been going through a 3 month renovation on a 102 year old home in John's Landing. We had an oil furnace wrapped in asbestos that took up our entire basement. It looked like that Octopus creature in The Goonies. Scott and Russ came in and completely blew us away with all the great work they did. They were able to set up a new high efficiency gas furnace and A/C Unit. They had to run ductwork throughout our entire basement because we were finishing that space. They also had to run all new ductwork to our main floor and the second story of our house, which never had anything up there before. Our worry was that we'd have exposed ductwork in our upstairs, because there wasn't much space up there to begin with. They were able to hide the ductwork in the least invasive way possible, keeping the aesthetics of our living space completely in tact. Now my wife and I get to enjoy a 102 year old house with entirely new heating and cooling. These guys went above and beyond our expectations, and I would recommend them to anyone looking for work on their heating and cooling systems. R&S TO THE RESCUE!!! On the first day this season that I actually needed my gas heat, my furnace was non-functional :( Despite my best efforts to solve the problem, I was stumped. The next day was in the 30's, winter storm setting and my house was 48F! I live in Hillsboro, I called everywhere, but everyone was booked out days. After being referred by a family friend to R&S, I thought a company in West Linn would be a long shot...boy, was I wrong. Scott Draper put on his snow tires and trucked all the way across the Portland metro area and was at my house within an hour. He had my furnace running in 20 minutes. Total bill was $136. We had no idea what was going on with unit(s), and you checked the system, diagnosed the problem with the compressor at the Trane heat pump (lo-and-behold, the last service person from another outfit had placed too much freon in the unit!) causing it to cease up and shut off prematurely. Wow. I'm so grateful. Our heat went out the night before Thanksgiving. Everyone was sick in the house (including a young child) and losing heat made it very hard to mend. I couldn't get anyone to come out that night, and I knew the holiday the following day would be a wash. Promptly at 8am on Friday, I began calling as many companies as I could. I guess it didn't occur to me that folks would (rightfully!) not be at work the day after a holiday. No one called me back. The house wasn't getting any warmer! Finally, I received a call back from Scott at R&S. He said he could be to my house within an hour. And he was- to the dot! He started up and quickly diagnosed the issue, told me he needed to call to see if anyone was open and had the part, but could install today if they did. The next thing I know, Scott left! However, he left in a hurry because the parts store was only open until 11:30, and he had 12 mins til it closed! Long story short, he returned with the part and quickly finished. We had heat finally! Scott mentioned he wasn't supposed to be at work today, but made an exception because we had no heat. The price was very reasonable and we are so happy for the customer service. Our heat pump sounded to be running less than optimal and I wanted an inspection and estimate on our aged ductwork. I knew R&S was the best to call from our first and prior excellent service experience when we first purchased our older home 5 years ago. This time around we discussed the air handler and air filtration unit being in fair serviceable condition, he cleaned/serviced the heat pump/compressor, we cleaned the perhaps never cleaned and blackened? honeycomb Trane mass 'air effects' filtration, and he went above and beyond to detect ventilation flow rate throughout the 1600'sq home. We uncovered a duct that was barely connected in the crawl space and Scott walked me through steps to repair and discussed estimate to re-duct in efforts to drastically improve the flow through the home as it's currently a wild network of bends and not the correct back-flow. Scott is thorough, highly skilled and knowledgeable and meticulous as they come to ensure the air inside our home is clean and allergen free as possible. The education we received as homeowners and what can do ourselves each year to maintain our system from Scott is beyond the call of duty. Thank you for your excellent service. It's easy to write a review when everything goes according to plan. It's a little more difficult when an installation goes awry. Long story short we had Scott install an new central air conditioner last June. Shortly thereafter it started making a periodic buzzing noise. The culprit ended up being a bad compressor. This was absolutely no fault of Scotts, but he came out no less than 6 times to take a look at and never maybe us feel like we were being a pain or crazy. He, in fact, sat with us in our dining room once for over an hour testing the system and waiting to hear the sound that we only heard. Finally, after witnessing the sound himself he reinstalled a new unit no questions asked and handled all the paper work. The electrician who handled his end of the install commented on how neat all of Scott's wiring was compared to other HVAC installers, to boot. Great price, fabulous service, this is exactly the type of small business that you want to give your business to. read more
