Friendly staff, food and drinks was good. It has a cozy front porch with yellow umbrellas. I didn't see anyone with dogs outside; I'm not sure if they're welcome.

Definitely a great choice for date night! Be sure to make a reservations cause it can fill up quick and you'll be waiting a while. Service is always great. My go to orders are always the Mediterranean tuna salad and devilled eggs. Dress well because it's a classy place that you'll be sure to enjoy! Side note, I was kind of surprised how shrinkflation has affected this restaurant as the devilled eggs are now 3 pieces instead of the 5 from the last time I was here (years ago). Still great place to dine!

The shirt I was wearing

I had what can only be described as a humiliating experience at R&D Kitchen in Dallas. I arrived dressed in a tailored, fashionable outfit that included a sleeveless top. During my visit, a manager approached me and informed me that men are not permitted to wear tank top however she admitted that it wasn't a tank but my armpits were showing and asked whether I could change my shirt. The conversation was handled in a way that drew attention to me, causing nearby diners to turn and stare. I was embarrassed and felt singled out. What made the situation even more frustrating was the apparent inconsistency of the policy. Throughout the restaurant, numerous WOMEN were wearing tank tops, sleeveless tops, and clothing that exposed significantly more skin than my outfit. Yet I was the only person approached and asked to change. If R&D Kitchen has a dress code, it should be applied EQUALLY and consistently to everyone. Instead, the experience felt arbitrary, outdated, and discriminatory. No guest should be made to feel uncomfortable or publicly embarrassed because of their attire when similar attire is clearly being worn by others in the restaurant. Dallas has too many excellent dining options to spend my time and money somewhere that makes guests feel unwelcome. Unfortunately, after this experience, I will not be returning.

Yellowtail fish + kale salad - 10/10 so good

Tried this place for a celebration lunch with my boss + coworkers and everything was super great. The food was all excellent, the server was very funny + attentive, and the reservation booking process was easy. Restaurant was busy but very clean, we had a great time.

We had an amazing time at R+D Kitchen! The ambiance is warm yet not too formal and our service was excellent. All of the food we got was recommended by the staff and it was fantastic. I highly recommend starting with the dip duo (guacamole and pimento cheese). The fried chicken sandwich was delicious with a perfectly crispy chicken breast with nice mustard and toppings. The rainbow roll was also excellent. To top it off, we got the banana pie which was great. Tip- ask for it with hot fudge. We will for sure come back to R+D Kitchen! Note- make sure to make a reservation. The wait for those without a reservation was over an hour when we went.

I'm Hillstone's biggest fan, so I was excited to try R+ D. It's a quaint restaurant, with friendly staff. Overall the food was good but I would have thought they would carry over similar offerings and service as their sister restaurant. We ordered the Pine salad which was super Fresh and it paired so well with the vinaigrette and shaved almonds. For our mains we ordered the Carnitas sandwich, the meat was on the cold end, felt like a little deli style-- wasn't the best sandwich. Also I was shocked to know that the sandwiches don't come French fries, the added expensive it's almost $30 for both things. Ugh no thank you, Next! Also tried the stacked sushi, I hated that I had to wait to eat as wasabi wasn't added to the plate. I felt they missed alot of little details telling you fries aren't included, not asking for a refill on your beer, and the wasabi. Expected a little more from this place.

We were skeptical of the menu containing things that don't normally sit on a menu together, but somehow, it worked for us. You could taste the freshness and quality of ingredients. Service was nothing short of excellent. We'll be back.

We tried this place recently for lunch as it was recommended by several people at work. Make sure to give yourself 10-15 min to circle the parking lot and find a spot and walk to the restaurant. Parking is extremely limited. We had a reservation at 12:15. We checked in at 12:12 and didn't get seated until 12:32. Not a great start, but the food was pretty good. We started with the deviled eggs and rainbow roll. Both had great flavor. My wife tried the tuna salad sandwich and I ordered the Little Mo. Both were tasty and a good portion size. We tried a side of the shrimp and grits as well, which were good. Overall, it was good, but with the parking and the wait, we don't need to hurry back.

Definitely a good spot that hits the upscale but still casual vibe right on the head. Modern inside but not excessively so. Not a huge amount of seating, and definitely not a spot I'd take a large group. The biggest tables I could see looked like they'd be comfortable for 5 or 6. The hostess and waitress we saw were great, super friendly. Our waitress also had good recommendations and was helpful walking us through the menu. Their crisp martini was genuine very refreshing, especially considering the amount of booze it carries. I got the spicy tuna roll for dinner, which was definitely solid. The crisp jicama was a nice addition and the tuna was clearly fresh and good tasting. I would go for something else next time but it is a solid plate. The drinks are kind of on the pricey end at around 17/18 per cocktail, but the food is relatively reasonable with most sushi in the 17-22 dollar range. Other places were also reasonably priced. Oh and the hot fudge sundae was glorious. Maybe just go heavier on the nuts next time

Sushi

The sushi was unique and very flavorful. The restaurant is very cute inside. The service was a little slow at times but they were busy. It felt like they kept skipping over us but they were super nice. Will def be back to try the mini chicken sandwiches. Everyone near us kept ordering them and they looked so good.

The best service and great fresh fish. Tried the sushi. Awesome! Not over priced and fresh. The best devil eggs around.

We had a reservation... unfortunately they were so busy. We waited a cool 25 to 30 minutes.. A little disappointed that they tried to upsell us on the cocktails . We were really just interested in sushi . And we asked several times about cocktails. The food is very nice. We enjoyed all the sushi choices. Our favorite was the sampler with the yellowtail bluefin. And salmon. I think we would go back thr sushi was good.

Horrible experience. The 'entitled' hostess on March 16, 2025 was the worst. (The irony of her job) If you are seeking a pleasant, friendly, open-to-all experience I would NOT recommend this place. Terrible. I can imagine it comes from the management down.

Bustling neighborhood spot where the menu is small but the flavors are big. Efficient polite service. Try the meatloaf.

The "crispy mashed potatoes" were unexpected lol. They were more like mashed potato eggrolls/flautas, but tasted fine. Id give this plate a solid 8/10. My cousin ordered the New York strip and she had just about the same notes on her dish. 8/10 My other cousin ordered the Steak Ravioli Blanco, she cleared her plate so I'm going to assume that she really liked it lol. 10/10 Lastly our waitress brought out a complimentary dessert since we were celebrating my cousin's bachelorette weekend, this was such a nice gesture, I think it was cheesecake and the flavor was delicious so 10/10

My husband and I started off by splitting the Wagyu Pigs in a Blanket which were good but I wouldn't order again. It just didn't seem to be anything over the top special so I would rather order something else as an app. My husband ordered the fried chicken and I got the Crispy Chicken Katsu. Both were delicious and I would definitely recommend trying both! The Katsu came with a spicy mayo that made the sandwich perfect! The fried chicken is massive so definitely share that or go home with left overs. We'll definitely be back to try more of the menu!

I'll start with a positive -- the appetizers were actually quite good. The deviled eggs, dragon…read moreroll, and pigs in a blanket were all tasty, and that's honestly the highlight of our visit. Unfortunately, everything else was a struggle from the moment we walked in. We didn't have reservations, but eventually found seats at the bar. Given how busy the place was, we figured the bar would mean faster, more attentive service. We were very wrong. We ordered two beers, a non-alcoholic drink, and three appetizers. The drinks arrived, and the appetizers followed about 10 minutes later -- fine so far. But there were no utensils. We had to ask for them, and we asked for plates as well, which never came. The empty dishes from our appetizers sat in front of us for a solid hour with no one clearing them. The bartender who took our order never once checked on us. With 3-4 people working behind the bar, only one server approached us during the entire 40-minute wait between appetizers and dinner to ask if we needed anything. The bartender told us twice that our food was "coming out shortly" -- and still, 40 minutes passed. When dinner finally arrived, my order was wrong. I ordered the Mongolian Short Rib, listed clearly under the Entree section of the menu. The bartender claimed I had ordered off a "happy hour" menu -- one I never saw or was told about -- and had swapped it for BBQ Pork Ribs without saying a word. Knowing a replacement could take another hour, my friend swapped plates with me and took the ribs. He had ordered the steak frites, which, for a rare steak, should have taken no more than 5-6 minutes to prepare. The third entree, fish and chips, was just okay -- a bit soggy and not particularly fresh. To top it all off, after everything we dealt with, the bartender never asked how our meal was or if we needed anything else. The food has potential, but the service was inattentive, disorganized, and frankly unacceptable for a busy restaurant that should know better.
