I went to RA Sushi for happy hour on a Sunday and had a mixed but ultimately positive experience. The first thing I noticed upon arrival was that the elevator was out of service, which meant having to walk all the way up the stairs. This made the space not very accessible, and it is something to keep in mind, especially for anyone with mobility concerns. Thankfully, I was not wearing heels that day. It was not very busy and I was able to request a table near the window which I enjoyed. The tvs were on but it was not a noisy environment. Once seated, it took about 10 minutes before anyone came over to my table. That initial wait was a bit frustrating, but when my waitress did arrive, she was very kind and attentive. I first ordered a cucumber margarita, which unfortunately did not have much flavor. She kindly allowed me to swap it out for a traditional margarita, which was much better. I ordered the Wagyu sliders (no photo), and while I did enjoy them, the wait time was very long. Because of the delay, the restaurant ended up taking them off my bill, which I really appreciated. That level of customer service went a long way. They offer happy hour from 3 p.m. to close on Sundays and all day on Mondays, which is a great deal. Despite a few hiccups, I would definitely come back, especially for happy hour.

Visit RA sushi on Veterans Day to be blessed with a entrée of the value of $49 This was a very first time ordering from here, which I was excited to discover that they had hibachi and many other entrées outside of just sushi. Which I don't mind sushi, I only indulge in cooked sushi though. But on this visit, I opted for hibachi entrée I decided to go with the hibachi steak, chicken and shrimp. I ordered it for dine in, I also asked for a box to go since it was kinda late while ordering. I wish the server provided hard plastic to go containers that they use when they package orders for to go, versus the little styrofoam folding box especially since I was putting in a complete plate away.

I'll start by saying I understand how chaotic things can get when a restaurant is fully packed, and I appreciate that my party arrived late and was still accommodated. Also, my meal was complementary due to my complaint. Those courtesies are the only reason this review isn't a one-star rating. We were told upfront that there are two separate kitchens and that dishes might come out at different times, which I thought was reasonable. We also confirmed the order in which checks would be split prior to ordering anything. The problem is that my party of nine was there from about 9:30p to 11:45p, and the timing was unacceptable. I ordered edamame and a calamari roll. The roll never arrived. Others in my group ordered simple items like fried rice and soup, and those didn't show up until almost an hour and a half later. Even after the restaurant slowed down, the checks took an unusually long time to process. When we asked for the checks, the waiter seemed to sound understanding that we were ready to leave but would get lost and return 10-15 minutes later to reconfirm the split and then disappear again. Overall, the service was extremely slow and frustrating, and it affected the entire experience. Everyone who received their food and was able to taste it seemed to enjoy it.

This restaurant is conveniently located at the end of the outdoor shopping center on the second floor. It has plenty of seating and I enjoyed the ambiance. It's a red colored themed restaurant with views of the street which is nicely decorated for Christmas. The menu is short and to the point. It has plenty of options for everyone. The pineapple cheese wontons is such a nice twist on your typical cheese wontons. The Phil roll had a nice rice to salmon cream cheese ratio. The steak fried rice was super yummy! I wish I ordered more. The server was friendly. Service was quick but the restaurant also didn't have a lot of guests to attend to. Based on my experience so far, I'll be back.

Had a pleasant experience dining at RA to celebrate a new milestone. Our server Jorge was very attentive and made our dining experience 100 times better! 10/10 all around

Sesame Garlic Wings

4 months later and my rating is about the same, maybe even a little less. The food can just be a hit or miss here. On this visit I got the sesame garlic wings again, along with the shrimp fried rice and shrimp tempura roll. The wings were delicious as always. Soo crispy, HUGE, fresh and flavorful. These wings are amazing, and I learned to ask for well done because the second time I ordered these they were more on the soggy side and I didn't want that happening again. The shrimp fried rice is still good and flavorful, yet this time my rice had a few crunchy bits of rice in it. Moving on to the sushi, I did not like it at all. For this restaurant to be known for their sushi, it's very low grades of meat. I kept it simple and just got a shrimp tempura roll that came with mixed crab, and it had no flavor other than mayo, the seaweed was chewy and it was nothing fresh about the sushi. I don't mind imitation crab mix, but this one wasn't good and I could barely even taste the shrimp tempura. Overall, I like Ra Sushi but I wish the food could be more consistent.

So I've come to the one in city center many times. This location was different in a sense where the food wasn't as I want I remember - lychee martini didn't taste the same. I think I ordered wrong... but it's okay the service was good. The martini didn't taste like a true lychee tini. Parking lot is free. Our waitress was personable! Maybe I'll go back to city center - it has been awhile.

Came in twice in one week for a date day and ordered pick-up/to-go the week prior. We'll talk about the pick up order first: The order was placed maybe 30-35mins prior to us arriving to the restaurant.(Although online stated 20-25minutes). I purposely took my time because I've order here a while ago and waited almost an hour. When we arrived, our order wasn't ready. So we sat and waited an additional 15-20mins. Whoever the host and hostess were, they popped over once to ask our names rudely and then only came back to give out other pick up orders. It was a little busy but it was a little later in the evening. The order is in the pictures attached, but moral of the pick up; you can tell that pick up orders have the least of their concern and the hostess are pretty careless to your presence. The flavor of the rolls were good but the lobster inferno had no sauce on it. We didn't request it like that. There wasn't even sauce on the side, so we ate cold/soft lobster tempura. Also the scallop dynamite was cold, obviously sitting as long as we were waiting near the front counter. Now to talk about our dine in experience: The first day was great. I failed to take a picture of our orders that day but i will say our waiter was great. We sat around the bar area, he was a younger guy who worked the bar but would come check in on us faithfully. Very kind, deserved every part of the tip he was given. On the 2nd date a couple of days later (my girlfriend really wanted to try the chili shrimp roll), it wasn't busy. We were seated right in the middle of the walking area in between 2 families sitting in a booth and against the window. I attempted to ask the hostess who walked us over if we can sit against the window, where there were 3 open tables, but she walked away mid sentence. I asked another woman walking in our direction and she seemed like us moving would be an inconvenience to them but she allowed. Our orders are attached, which again, everything was very good. Oh, the Lobster Inferno came with SAUCE!!! Thank goodness, but also it tastes like the RaRa Shrimp..(same sauce). Use that info how you please. But anywho, the waitress.... She seemed irritated, she continued to forget things that were asked for. We repeated ourselves multiple times. One of the smallest things was a straw and the lemons we asked for when we ordered our waters. She came back with 2 waters, 2 drinks, & 3 straws. She would walk away before you can say something but when she would come back with something, you would have to ask quick. I asked for a straw and lemons. She came back with lemons maybe the 3rd time of coming back after that. My girlfriend had asked her again for a straw... the straw came some time between our last 2 plate arriving which was maybe 10minutes before we asked for to go boxes and the check. So you can imagine how many times we asked for something and would have to wait a while before getting it. Anyhow, i got to a point where i was over it. Summary: the food here is really good and so are the drinks, but the customer service is not consistent but majority times horrible. The employees have to be a bit kinder to the people spending $20-$25 a roll in this place. We come in with a smile saying hello, but quickly feeling like maybe i shouldn't have said anything to you. But the rating is for food and ambiance, would be less for service but i do well at ignoring mistreatment.

Martini
Brandi C.

The ambiance is always nice here as the lights from River Oaks beam on the street below and the red lights from inside of the restaurant. The noodles weren't as good as I remembered them being. The cali roll was good. They have reverse happy hour on Saturdays starting at 9pm. The martini drink I had was super thick. Wont try that again. The lady blew the whistle the entire time the staff walked around passing out free shots to everyone. After a minute or THREE, it became annoying but oh well.

Seared tuna
Jessica T.

I came here with a group of 4 at 9 pm for their reverse happy hour (+ all day happy hour on Monday!). We were seated immediately, and our server was friendly and attentive throughout the night. We tried everything on their $9 and $12 Happy Hour menu. Here's what I would recommend! Rackin shrimp - 5/5 Salmon avocado sashimi 4.7/5 Seared tuna - 4.7/5 Spicy crispy rice - 4.5/5 Shrimp tempura - 4.5/5 Rainbow roll roll - 4.2/5 Viva las vegas - 4/5 RaRa Shrimp - 4/5 Would NOT recommend: Wagyu sliders - 3/5 Crunchy calamari roll - 2.7/5 Crunchy shrimp tempura roll - 2.5/5 (too much cream cheese!) Chicken skewers - 2/5 (dry chicken, teriyaki sauce carried)

SHRIMP TEMPURA ROLL
Shaundria S.

I would love to visit this restaurant again. The food was good and very tasteful. The service was a tab but slow and when the waiter came out she wasn't aware of who ordered what. That was a bit of a let down because I think the person that took our order should have lead. On this night there was a DJ so everyone was jamming while eating, so that was a vibe to me.

The staircase lined with butcher knives (check out my photos!) is such a unique design element, and the whole restaurant has this upscale, modern vibe. We were seated upstairs at a large round table with an incredible view of the city. As the sun set and the lights came on, it made the whole evening feel even more special. Our server, Michelle, was absolutely fantastic. She was so personable, attentive, and genuinely made our dinner even more enjoyable. Now for the food... wow. We started with the calamari and the burrata, and both were phenomenal. The burrata was unbelievably fresh and creamy, and every accompaniment on the plate complemented it perfectly. You can tell they put a lot of thought into balancing every flavor. Then our entrées arrived, and while my steak was cooked beautifully and all of our sides were delicious, there was one dish that completely stole the show: the Cream Corn Crème Brûlée. I genuinely don't think I've ever had anything like it. It was sweet, savory, creamy, rich, and somehow perfectly balanced all at once. Every single person at our table had to try it, even the ones who initially said they didn't want any, and everyone's reaction was exactly the same: complete disbelief at how good it was. If you only order one side here, make it the Cream Corn Crème Brûlée. It's unforgettable. The only small critique anyone at our table had was that the Brussels sprouts weren't quite as crispy as expected, but honestly, I still enjoyed them. Overall, this was an incredible dining experience from start to finish. Beautiful atmosphere, outstanding service, and some of the best food I've had in a long time. It's absolutely worth the splurge, and I can't wait to come back.

I wish restaurants would move away from the pull apart rolls. I just want crusty bread with good butter. The creme brulee creamed corn was interesting. I think I prefer it savory. Everything was just a little more expensive than I thought it was worth. It's frustrating to want a good glass of white wine but not have many options under $20.
