New favorite bakery! My sister recommended the smoked salmon foccacia and safe to say.. it's going to live in my head rent free. The focaccia was perfectly salted and baked to perfection, pairing well with the fresh lox and cream cheese. Excellent pastries like the seasonal stone fruit custard croissant as well. The heirloom tomato pastry tasted like a pizza on croissant bread. The cardamom darjeeling morning bun was my least favorite of the bunch -- wish the earl gray one was on the menu. There was about a 20 min wait on a Sunday morning but it was well worth it. Not a lot of seating. I can see why this place is extremely popular. The food is amazing!! I happened to be in Brooklyn during the hottest day of the week. So I guess that drove people away because the line wasn't long. I only waited for maybe 5 minutes. I wish I could get one of everything, but I limited myself to the prosciutto/burrata focaccia sandwich and a pistachio croissant. But then I saw the brown butter corn cakes, and since I don't live here, I decided to add it. No regrets. There's not many places to sit. I believe there's only 2 tables outside and no indoor seating. But my friend knew this so we took our goodies to Prospect Park nearby. Otherwise, the bakery itself is clean and the air conditioning, even for a moment, was much needed. The focaccia sandwich was absolutely delicious! Even on the hottest day, the burrata was cool and refreshing. The prosciutto added the savory and salty flavors. The focaccia was crispy outside, fluffy inside. It was very oily, but it added to the moisture of the sandwich overall. This is easily one of my top sandwiches. I love it when simple, high quality ingredients come together, and this sandwich exemplifies that. The brown butter corn cake was also so yummy! It was sweet from the corn, which complemented the molasses flavor of the brown butter. I think it would pair well with an earl grey tea. I had the pistachio later in the evening and it held itself pretty well from all the walking I did in the heat. The croissant was flaky and the pistachios added a nice crunch. Back at Radio Bakery for the fourth time--this time at their new location in Prospect Heights, before I head to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden for cherry blossoms. Even on a Friday morning at 10am, the line stretched down the block. It took 45 minutes from joining the line to receiving my order. Was it worth the wait? 100% well worth every minute. ＊Sausage and Chive Foccacia $8 * This was the clear winner among all the pastries we tried! I've always been a fan of their focaccia, but the addition of chive cream cheese and sausage took it to the next level. The bread was pillowy with a slight crisp on the crust--absolute perfection. ＊French Onion Soup Croissant $7 * Their savory pastries completely won me over this time. This one is exactly what it sounds like: French onion soup in croissant form. The pastry was incredibly flaky, filled with caramelized onions and a rich gruyère cheese custard. It's the most brilliant reimagination of one of my favorite french dishes. ＊Pistachio Croissant $8 * After trying pistachio croissants from places like Librae, Frenchette, and L'appartement 4F, I can confidently say the one from Radio Bakery is my top pick. Top picks (ranked): -Coconut chocolate almond croissant -Focaccia bread -Cinnamon bun If you only get one thing I'd recommend the coconut chocolate almond croissant. It has marzipan and chocolate. With the toasted coconut, it's a unique twist on the traditional chocolate almond. It also tastes really good cold as the flavors and layers get more distinct. The focaccia bread is excellent. I'd argue to just try it plain or as plain as possible. I got the smoked salmon focaccia (with dill, cream cheese and pickled onions) and it was delicious, but the focaccia taste and chewy texture was lost amongst all the other (yummy) flavors. To really appreciate the focaccia you should try it alone. Notable mention of Radio's cinnamon bun. I've been following their Greenpoint location for a while and was so excited there was a new central Brooklyn location. Braved the wait and line Sunday morning and in total waited ~30 mins. I wouldn't expect the wait to die down anytime soon since this is such a new location. There are no tables inside but they had 2-3 tables outdoors. Line moves fairly quickly and have noticed most of their items sell out by noon. The baked goods do live up to the hype and this time around I indulged with the matcha morning bun, rhubarb croissant, cheesy bear claw, and French onion soup croissant. 5/5 rhubarb croissant was so delicious. I tried their smoked salmon sandwich, the french onion soup croissant and the matcha mango morning bun. The matcha mango morning bun was terrible. I did not enjoy the taste of it. The bitterness of the matcha, the sourness and the sweetness all at the same time was not my thing, it tasted weird. The French onion soup croissant was average, nothing special. The pastry was good but the sweet custard along with the caramelized onion was not my favorite combination. The best thing I had was the smoked salmon sandwich. Highly recommend it. Radio Bakery, one of the very best bakeries in all of New York (and the country), just opened their second location. The first one in Greenpoint almost always has a line, and now this new one in Prospect Heights will too. Even though it opened on a Monday with 20 degree temperatures, the line went all the way to the corner and wrapped all the way down to the end of the block by the time they opened at 7:30. Much like the Greenpoint one, the pastries and sandwiches are indeed some of the best you can get in the whole city and definitely worth the trip - not saying anything is worth a 90 minute to 2 hour wait though, so maybe go to the more efficient (for now) Greenpoint one, or wait a little to come back to this one. This one will be great in a few weeks to a month when the initial hype dies down a little and when it's nice enough to sit outside, especially since this one has no indoor space for eating. The must try here right now is the new Almond Joyful Twice Baked Croissant. Get that and a butter croissant and you will see what the fuss is about. read more

Finally got to try out the much-hyped Radio Bakery on a Saturday around 11am! As expected, there was a looooong line outside, but the line does move fast, so we were at the front in about 20-25 minutes. I regret to inform you that this place really is as good as they say. For three people, we ordered a darjeeling cardamom morning bun, garlic knot, two brown butter corn cakes, a tomato and garlic focaccia slice, and a pumpkin pie/cheesecake pastry. The star of the show, in my opinion, were the corn cakes: they're crispy and sugary and caramelized on the outside, and chewy on the inside, a bit like a cross between the texture of a brownie and a financier. It's also absolutely delicious -- like an elevated, dessert form of a great cornbread. The pumpkin pie/cheesecake pastry was also incredible. I'm not usually a big pumpkin fan, but the filling was perfectly spiced, not too sweet, and whipped just enough so it was almost mousse-like, super light. Though these two were the standouts to me, the other pastries were also great: the focaccia was airy, the morning bun was well-balanced (though I couldn't taste the darjeeling as much), and the garlic knot was like a savory, garlicky, gorgeous croissant knot. You just can't go wrong here. The inside of the bakery is cute, but there's no seating except for two small tables outside. As a big pastry/bakery enthusiast, Radio Bakery has of course been on my radar for a while. Now that they have a Prospect Heights location, I no longer had a reason to put it off. We went on a Saturday, so the line was expected. I was positively surprised that even close to noon, they hadn't sold out of the things I wanted. Here's what we tried: 1. Pistachio Croissant 5/5 - Delicious, the pistachio filling is not too sweet and more like a nut butter than a cream. Yum! 2. Mango Matcha Morning Bun 4/5 - Great texture and a fun twist on a regular morning bun. 3. Spicy Tofu Sandwich 10/5 - Hands down my favorite. Supremely delicious, the texture is fantastic with the cabbage adding a good crunch. The slightly sweet and spicy dressing just knocks it out of the park. 4. Amazing Blueberry lime croissant with just the right amount of sweetness. Line forms outside the entrance of the shop was kept orderly with patrons waiting their turn at the door. Was looking forward to the Matcha mango morning bun, but was told it was sold-out. There was no line around 10:30 AM on a Monday! I was expecting to have to wait, so the no line definitely helped with having a great experience. The stone fruit custard had a flakey exterior, with just the right amount of custard, and a generous portion of real peach. For a year, the old Blue Marble space sat dark, a ghost of ice cream past. Now? It's Radio Bakery, and the block will never be the same--mostly because there's now a permanent line stretching down it. I left my apartment around the corner on opening day to find a sea of people waiting for pastries like it was a sneaker drop. At noon, the line still went to the end of the block, and I later heard people waited two hours. By day two, the first folks were already camped out by 7:10 AM for a 7:30 opening. I joined the line near the Gold Star easement at 7:15 and made it out, victorious, by 7:50 AM--holding a Rhubarb & Custard pastry I had zero intention of ordering. I panicked. My brain short-circuited. Something about the crispy shell, soft rhubarb slices and line pressure made me betray my usual instincts. But you know what? Turns out I'm a custard girl now; an identity shift, all before 8 AM. The woman behind the counter said her go-to sweet treats are the Rhubarb & Custard, Cinnamon Bun, and Triple Chocolate. My sister went for the Matcha & Mango Morning Bun, which was fantastic--especially with a cappuccino. (Heads up: the espresso comes cafeteria-style from a machine, so maybe stick to the baked goods as the main event.) Also had the peach and custard croissant along with the chocolate, cherry, and almond croissant. The peach was super fresh and delicious but almond croissant was so much better. My favorites were stone fruit pastry and prosciutto basil sandwich. It's a little pricey of course, but good nonetheless. Coffee could be better but I doubt anyone is coming for the coffee. Great service, lovely people. We have a friend who is gluten free, and in buying the gluten free corn bread, they made sure to change their gloves and separate packaging. Stumbled upon this gem after a race around 9 AM, and there was already a line forming--always a good sign. I found this place through a quick Yelp search, and it definitely lived up to the hype. Everything I ordered was absolutely delicious, but the garlic knot croissant stole the show. I'll be coming back just for that alone. I was sold on Radio Bakery after watching pastry chef and co-owner Kelly on an Eater YouTube video. If you haven't heard about Radio Bakery, watch the video and you just fall in awe seeing Kelly's passion for baking. On a random Saturday, I woke up at 6am and decided it was finally my chance to come here before everything sold out. From what I've heard, lots of items are sold out by noon or earlier on weekends. I ended up arriving at 7am (half an hour before opening) and was 4th in line. By opening time, the line wrapped around the corner so definitely recommend coming as early as you can. Once they opened, we went down the line picking out the pastries in a cafeteria style line. It was quick and they were super friendly. I was out the door within 5 minutes with a full bag of goodies. Since I didn't know when I'd manage to wake up this early to come back here, I ordered a variety of pastries: Smoked Salmon Sandwich ($14.50), Cheesy Pretzel Bearclaw ($6), Scallion Sesame Twist ($6), French Onion Soup ($8), Matcha Mango Morning Bun ($6), Pistachio Croissant ($8) and a limited edition Yuzu Coconut Tart ($12). As a huge fan of lox bagels, I enjoyed their take of the smoked salmon sandwich --definitely recommend trying anything with focaccia here. The morning bun was also flakey and I enjoyed the uniqueness of matcha and mango, which gave it a tart and earthy flavor. The ones that I'd pass on is the bearclaw, which had mustard inside that was a bit weird. The scallion was decent, but really nothing that special and I'd rather have this at an Asian bakery. But I saved the best for last and it's the French onion soup croissant --oh my, this tasted just like the soup. I loved how soft the onion got, which melted in flavor over the crunch of the tart. Overall, some hits and some ok pastries, but I would absolutely come back for the French onion soup tart and focaccia. I didn't end up trying that Yuzu one but my friend said she was obsessed, so get that if it ever comes back onto the menu. It's the perfect box of pastries to grab and enjoy over at Prospect Park on a nice day out. It's worth the visit if you're in the area before noon. read more

Overall rating: 4.8 I didn't realize they opened a location closer to me, so I was very excited to try while killing time. I went around 2 or so, and it was about a 20ish min wait. Since it's a new addition, I love that they thought about 1 door in versus 1 door out. The original location is a lot larger and thought they had more options than this location. But by looking at the reviews, I think it's because of the time I went. The cookie was sooo good and repeatable. Highly recommend! The burrata, prosciutto & basil sandwich was also good and I was very pleasantly surprised about the portion size. I first visited the Greenpoint location and had the tuna salad sandwich that was phenomenal. I will be back for this soon. Iced coffee was great at both locations. At this location I tried the cardamom bun - too sugary for me, I didn't really get the cardamom flavor, and heirloom tomato which I loved and was the perfect savory pastry. I went on a Tuesday morning, around 10am , and there wasn't a line. No seating inside but I grabbed a table outside. Staff is friendly and helpful. read more

The pastries lived up to the hype! Their open faced croissants were fantastic. Incredibly flaky and crispy, and I loved the fillings. I got one seasonal heirloom tomato croissant, and one peaches and cream croissant. I also tried their tomato foccaccia and it was excellent. Be prepared to wait in line, but the line will move pretty efficiently. I would budget around 30 minutes for waiting in line on a weekday morning, just so you don't have to stress. It will likely move faster than that though because the process inside is pretty fast. You point out the items you want to the staff and pay at the counter. They also have some drinks available like iced teas and coffees. There's very little seating inside (just a small counter). There are a few covered (just with umbrellas) outdoor tables. Not great for large groups, but could be good for a casual date/catch-up. Would definitely return! read more
