Would recommend going a couple blocks up at Koo Thai, which is better quality and more on point tastes I ordered the pineapple fried rice with pork, drunken noodles with chicken and massaman curry with veggies, and it came out to $41.37. The order took about 30 minutes to take out. When I arrived home, I realized they packed an extra order of the noodles; not sure if it was due to the long wait time. The curry was the most flavorful of the 3, but was watery. The drunken noodles were thicker than I'd like and flavor was light. The fried rice had very little flavor. Both dishes barely had meat. Yesterday I ordered Green Curry to go and clearly asked if I could have it VERY MILD. I was told YES. When I arrived home, I took the first bite and immediately felt the heat of the dish. It was extremely hot (spicy). I called and spoke to the same person who took the order and requested that it be remade. He refused and said that the menu indicated spicy, which it did. The fact that he didn't tell me it couldn't be made mild is my concern. I went back today and asked if he could make me another dish that wasn't spicy. He said yes, but I would have to pay full price. We own three restaurants in the city and if any of my employees were to ever treat our customers so unfairly, they would be immediately terminated. I live three blocks away from this restaurant and I would've been back quite often as we love Thai food. Why would anyone treat a potentially loyal customer so poorly and lose out on hundreds of dollars in the future from me, my friends and now innocent people on Yelp? Cute little restaurant to stop in for a meal but the real value is when you get takeout! The takeout portions are great! Prices here are super reasonable for the area and Manhattan which makes the takeout option even better. I initially got food delivered from here. The portion was so big i was able to have it for two meals. Eventually i stopped in to have the pad thai in person. Portion was decent. I finished the order in one sitting. The chicken didnt taste the same this time but it was still good. I also got the taro custard with sticky rice. It was okay. I expected it to be more fluffy/jiggly than it was. Flavor was alright, not super strong on the taro but it was still there. The sticky rice wasn't as sticky as I'm used to. I finished both orders and was so full when i left. Food verdict: 5/5 pad thai 2/5 taro custard 4/5 thai milk tea I ordered a Thai milk tea to go. I had it the next day and it was good, just a little too sweet. Service was great. The man at the front of the restaurant was really nice, smiled at me everytime i looked at him. While i was dining multiple people came in to pick up deliveries. No one else dined in while i was there. The restaurant is small with a few tables but lots of plants around with hand drawn special menus on the wall. It feels clean and cozy. This place doesn't look like much from the outside, but I'm so happy to have found this place! It's a small authentic hole in the wall Thai restaurant with great prices and great food. I've been playing Pickleball everyday at Central Park and I love how close it is to the courts. This place is super affordable and have big portion sizes. Based on a positive review I read about Raenu Thai, I ordered two dishes last Friday, June 20 -- pad Thai with chicken and crispy pork kra pao. The pad Thai was just a mass of noodles that i had to dig apart, and there were only a few pieces of egg and about 6 pieces of chopped peanut. I couldn't even find the chicken! And the dish was extremely salty. The pork kra pao was inedible -- tough, dry, also extremely salty. I will never go there again, and you shouldn't either. A total waste of money. read more

Regardless, this may be one of the best Thai restaurants you can order from the UWS. My girlfriend and I got a few items: Chicken Curry Puff - Delicious and the size of the puffs are very generous. Tom Kha Soup - Very interesting flavoring. It's not really spicy as advertised, but would recommend if you like that sweet coconut taste. Pad Thai - My girlfriend got this dish and I ended up liking her dish over what I ordered. Love the noodles and the peanuts when you mix it all together. She got her's with Tofu. I don't often write Yelp reviews, but having just finished the food that Raenu Thai delivered this evening, I resolved to sit right down to register my (and my family's) unanimous dismay at what were served up. Here are the particulars in order of egregiousness: a so-called "duck roll" consisting of a bunch of iceberg lettuce, a couple of small pieces of cucumber, and about two 1/4" cubes of duck per each half (my daughter and I counted them and laughed). At $9.00, a cynical rip-off. We ordered the green curry with "mixed seafood." What we got is a quart container of a reasonably tasty, though soupy curry with about 3 pieces of shrimp, a couple of pieces of fish cake, a few morsels of mussels and several chunks of pineapple - at $17 ... huh? Likewise, the drunken noodles were a giant lump of of oily flat noodles with barely a solid piece of vegetable in sight, save some carrot slivers and a half dozen short pieces of green beans - ridiculous. With all of the sources for Asian food in the UWS/Manhattan Valley area, from which we have gotten consistently good-excellent orders, this one from Raenu Thai will be absolutely our first and last. read more

That said, we have eaten at Raenu at least a dozen times, and have never had a bad meal there. The meals have been affordable, delicious, and have kept us going back for more. Cheap and cheerful! Some suggestions: - Fried calamari. I don't expect much from any place that has fried calamari, especially when it's delivered, but Raenu's managed to be fried just right and still crispy when it arrived. - Panko fried shrimp. Like the fried calamari, this was fried to perfection and was still crispy when it arrived. Can't go wrong. - Thai lemon chicken. They fried it perfectly, can you spot the trend yet? Huge, for an appetizer, and still juicy on the inside. Really solid order when you want a bunch of fried chicken with your meal. - Crab fried rice. Yes, always yes. You get a heaping portion of fried rice, and some REAL crab meat spread out on top. We have taken to ordering an extra crab fried rice so we can have it for meals on other days. - Pad see ew. So tasty, so greasy, so good. The noodles are always done just right, and the flavours are on point. Frankly, you can't go wrong with any of the rice dishes. Hell, I order one and split it into two meals, and I have a voracious appetite. 100% recommended. read more

Ordered via seamless tonight based on good reviews. My TOFU entree arrived with a huge chunk of greasy chicken hidden inside. I have been a vegetarian for 10+ years and was furious. Ruined not only my entree but my entire meal and my partner's too. The restaurant refused to refund my entree unless I went back to the restaurant with it!!! Unbelievable. My food wasn't even good. First time trying Raenu I did a simple lunch order of Wonton Soup, Thai Scotch Egg and the Thai Sausage Fried Rice with shrimp and I gotta say I was blown away. The food felt familiar but with new and fantastic flavors in every dish. Fried rice had that umami luster from the sausage cut with hits of ginger. That scotch egg... goddamn. The yolk was warm and runny and the texture of the meat was perfectly chewy and crispy. I'm gonna be thinking about it for days. Wonton Soup was so damn good it might be my go-to over the Chinese version we usually get. Silky broth with flecks of garlic floating amongst the wonton and vegetables.
