Service, food, cleanliness and portion sizes seem to have gone way downhill in the last year. It used to be decent Thai take out; nothing special but it's currently the only option in this part of East Harlem. There's technically one 4-top table you could eat at, but it's designed to be mostly delivery and takeout. The AC doesn't really work and the area between the table and window is used for storage. There's a dedicated vegan section of menu, which is helpful for avoiding fish sauce and shrimp paste, but doesn't mention curry or noodle dishes (which the staff said were vegan if ordered with veg/tofu, omitting any egg in noodle dishes). I've ordered "no fish sauce" for nearly two years, but today the pad Thai without fish sauce came as an inedible pile of noodles soaked in clear sugar syrup. I called the restaurant to see if there had been a mistake and the lady insisted that's how they make it without fish sauce.... I said it was a completely different dish, and when I ordered she hadn't indicated that omitting fish sauce would be an issue. We would have happily just ordered coming else instead of paying $17 for a pile of sweet, mushy rice noodles. Will not return. read more

Quick service. We've never dined-in before so we don't know what the ambience is like. For the appetizer, we always order chicken wings. For the entrees, we order drunken noodles, pad see ew, and/or chicken pad Thai). The spicy drunken noodles are just what I need when I feel a cold coming on. But the 6 wingettes (bc they're separated flats and drums, not whole wings), BABY LET ME TELL YOU! Somehow, they figured out a way to keep the meat JUICY and the outside CRISPY! I don't know how they do it, but I'm so glad they do. At first, I was disappointed that the wings weren't whole, but then I realized they probably cook faster being separated, plus, it's the perfect portion for me to finish most of my entree. Very clean and cozy small take-out restaurant in East Harlem. I was getting home one evening, and I was in the mood for some good food. I noticed this place on UberEats, and liked how their salmon filet sounded. It came in different spicy levels, of which I picked the spiciest. I waited the half-hour or so for the food to get to my place, thinking that I'd receive an amazing meal that evening. I was wrong. The salmon came with some veggies, and the white rice in its own container. I combined them both, and dug in. The salmon was nowhere near spicy, just overly salted. The taste itself was disgusting. The white rice also had way too much salt added, which made for a very unpleasant first bites. I didn't get past those bites, and just threw it all away. What little of this horrible food I did eat sat horribly in my stomach. Thankfully, with about a gallon of water, I was able to feel better in 2-hours time. I've since reported this situation to UberEats, and I will never order from this place again. read more

I was really excited to find a great Thai place close by. I brought my sisters here when they visited and we found the food to be great regardless of the nasty counter service. I returned a few times after that on my own and usually just ignored the incredibly nasty counter people and unfriendly nature of the place because I was just there to pick up my food and go; not to make friends although I was hoping it would become a regular spot for me. One night after work I decided to go by on my way home and pick up some food. The counter person exuded the same usual miserable energy which is sad to see. They are such young people and are so angry and unpleasant. I am really sorry for them having such unhappiness. We never know what someone is going through and so I try to spread a positive vibe trying to bring some light. However this particular evening the counter person got my order wrong even though I was extremely clear and went over it a few times. The last straw for me was when she obnoxiously started accusing me of making the mistake. She kept on with it until finally I asked that the whole order be cancelled as I did not want this energy in my food. I certainly thought I was being shown that this was not a place for me at all. I left and did not go back again. A long while passed and a sister was visiting. She loves Thai and so I decided to give them another chance. The counter person had the same miserable, unfriendly vibe and would not answer my questions directly about vegan needs. It's super simple as they say they have vegan choices. She was just awful really...so mean and rude saying repeatedly "there is no fish oil added" each time I asked in a different way. We ordered finally and brought our food home as even though there were 2 new tables that my sister wanted to sit at, the counter person said no and made up some bizarre excuse. The negative energy was palpable and honestly I felt like leaving again as I don't want this vibration in my food. The gentleman at the counter seems to be kinder, but mostly just stands and watches the nasty counter people act out their unhappiness. I'm sorry he has to deal with that. My sister liked her food and I was moderately okay with my curry until I got to the bottom of my rice container and found A MEDIUM SIZED DEAD ROACH UNDER ALL THE RICE. Needless to say I am now completely done with this place. I tried to connect with Joy who is listed as the manager her on Yelp via IG but no reply. I thought I would just go ahead and write the review here in the hopes that it will help others in some way know they are not the reason for what they are experiencing when walking in to this place. This is one of my favorite go-to delivery places! The food is always delicious and delivery is super quick through Door Dash. The drunken noodles are awesome and not too greasy. I also always get papaya salad or larb, both so fresh and healthy. I had the Thai chicken basil rice with fried egg recently and felt like I was eating a home cooked meal. I always struggle finding chive dumplings at Thai restaurants in NYC but this place had them and made them perfectly! It's essentially a thick chive pancake cut into triangle bites that are soft and chewy on the inside and crispy on the outside. Basing this review on my experience with Thai BKK's delivery. I have been ordering from Thai BKK for the past couple of years and never had any problems with my food and the time delivery takes. The food is pretty standard. Is it amazing, no? But, it will meet your Thai craving needs. My typical go to's are the drunk noodles, the crispy calamari, the tom kha soup, and the thai wings. The dumplings sometimes can be hit or miss. I've had more misses than hits with the dumplings. I'll more than likely will order from Thai BKK in the future. read more

This was my firdt time ordering from this place. I ordered Thai Fried Rice with Shrimp and I received chicken instead. I paid a dollar extra on my bento box, and even though it was only a dollar I still wanted shrimp. I know Thai food is spicy and the soup was good to me, my poor coworker couldn't handle the super spicy soup. I gave this spot 3 stars because I don't like that sickness they did with my meal. Thai BKK is a small Thai restaurant that has minimal seating but definitely sells most of their food using delivery systems such as Seamless, Uber Eats, etc. It is definitely superior in quality than most take-out restaurants and offers a more refined taste to asian food that you wouldn't find in cheaper, faster restaurants. With that said, they are slightly pricy for the type of restaurant that they are and they are not necessarily the best value when you acknowledge the amount of food you get for the price. Their menu is a perfect size: it has a wide range of main dishes that are categorized as entrees, curries, noodles, fried rice, and Chef' specials. They also have vegan options, bento boxes, salads, vegetarian appetizer, and traditional thai drinks that I definitely plan to try in the future. I ordered the garlic and black pepper entree: chicken with fresh garlic, white pepper in brown garlic lime sauce. It was served with white rice and was delicious. The vegetables were fresh from what I saw when ordering and the chicken tasted amazing without being dry. Again, they offer a great taste with their dishes but lack in quantity of meat and vegetables alongside more white rice than needed. So happy that a Thai food place opened literally two doors down from my boyfriends apartment! Such a rare find in east Harlem. The food was made incredibly quickly - about ten minutes! The staff was friendly (ordered inside rather than on Eat24). The smell of the food was delicious. We got crabmeat dumplings which are more like shumai. They were small, but there was six of them and they were delicious. We also got shrimp chicken dumplings which were good and had some nice flavor in the dumpling mix. I got pad see ew. It I was your classic dish with a good portion and great taste! The noodles could have maybe been a little harder but not a big deal! My boyfriend got Pad Thai with chicken and he wolfed down the meal. He said it was really good! I will definitely be ordering from here again to try more of the items on the menu! Walked in today, 5 months pregnant alongside my 3.5 year old who loves this place, and became extremely disappointed at the way we treated by the counterperson. We weren't even greeted to order our meal. Just stared at as an indirect way of telling me if I were ready to place an hour. Politely asked the counterperson if she could not include onions in our meal since I have a picky eater on my hands. They insisted they normally don't modify their fried rice but would make an exception for us since my LO was standing nearby. I asked for red sweet sauce on the side which I was then told that the rice is already cooked with the sauce and that they typically DO NOT provide special sauces on the side (unless for a fee). I've been spending money here for nearly three years and this was the first that I had heard of what appeared to be lies. During this entire scenario, my young child smiled and continued to say "Hi" to the counterperson who completely ignored her. Utterly disgusted at their service. DO NOT recommend especially for families and neighbors. So unfortunate that businesses think they can just appear in neighborhoods and not treat locals with great and quality service/care. Wonderful take out experience from Thai BKK in East Harlem through UberEATS. It came very quickly and was warm! We got the pad see ew with chicken and the pad kee mao (drunken noodles) with tofu (extra spicy). They were both very very good! Portions could have been a little bigger, but otherwise no complaints there. We got the dumplings and spring rolls for an appetizer. Dumplings were ok but the spring rolls were good!
