We visited Rainforest Cafe at Ontario Mills and unfortunately the food was a big letdown, especially for the price. I ordered the blackened fish tacos, and they were not good at all. The rice that came with them was hard, and the vegetables were undercooked. I asked for extra lime, and they brought back only two small pieces, the plate already comes with three, so that felt pretty stingy. Overall, the portion sizes and generosity just didn't match the cost. My husband ordered the Taste of the Island plate. He enjoyed it for the most part, but even he skipped the vegetables because they weren't good. The kids' meals were another disappointment. They were literally served on a divided kids' plate with very basic food: chicken nuggets, mini hamburgers, and fries. Each plate came with only one slice of orange, which again felt very minimal and not generous at all. The one positive was my drink, the Sunshine Colada was actually really tasty and enjoyable. As for the atmosphere, the restaurant is very themed with lots of animals, and they do a rainforest thunderstorm every 30 minutes with loud noises and sound effects. It's fun, but I would say if your child is between 2 1/2 and 3 years old, it might be a little scary. Older kids (3+) should be fine. Overall, you're definitely paying more for the experience than the food. The theme is entertaining, but the food quality and portions don't justify the high prices, and we likely wouldn't return for a meal again. read more

I usually love the rainforest cafe, but that all changed on Monday. We got there at about 1 and it took them all the way up till 1:35ish to actually take our order and notice us. We got our food and drinks at 2. The kids python pasta was hard and not fully cooked. The mashed potatoes that came with it was also very cold. They gave me another one but that tasted the same. The only semi-good part was the chicken that came with it. We also ordered an appetizer sampler which also had some cold food on it. I would have given this a 0 stars if that was possible. We've been there a handful of times for fun evenings out. Tonight, was really great. The host quoted us 2:45 wait for a table. We ended up waiting about 15 minutes and sat the four of us at a bar high top. The restaurant was really busy and the bar staff was hustling in all the right ways. Steve our server did a really great job, give him a raise! We ordered quickly and everything was great. The food is nothing fancy but the service and ambiance is really what you're going there for. My daughter's kids meal of Mac and cheese was a bit dry and underwhelming. She loves macaroni and cheese and she barely ate any of it. The girls enjoyed the ambience and the faux rainstorm. It was fun for all of us. The one thing we all agreed on was that the service was lacking. We were only asked once shortly after the food was brought out of all was good or needed anything and we never saw our server again until we were done and she was ready to hand over the check. I would have liked a refill of my tea and my 3 year old even said she wanted more apple juice.. we were headed home so we just told her we give her one at home. Other than that.. we did say we would come back but hopefully with a different server and would order something different for our lil one. We hadn't been to Rainforest Cafe in over 10 years, back when our kids were little, so we decided to take the grandkids for a late lunch. The table service was excellent, and the restaurant was about three-quarters full. The hostess experience was a bit odd--she didn't engage with guests at all and seemed almost robotic. Several people were clearly waiting to be acknowledged or added to the list, and she appeared to ignore them, which was strange. My husband and I both commented that she felt disengaged and bothered. The entrance process was also confusing, with one person acting as the host and then shuffling guests off to a different location to actually be seated. The food was actually pretty decent for the price. The burger was gigantic and easily enough to take home. The turkey BLT was good, with fresh sliced turkey, and the fries were solid. Unfortunately, the kids' steak bites were a miss. We ordered one meal for two toddlers to share, but the meat was very tough, overcooked, hard for them to chew, and the food arrived cold, which was disappointing. Overall, the ambiance is very cool and fun--especially for kids--and that part still holds up. We'd probably only return for a special celebration and likely at a different location. It's not somewhere we'd go regularly, and the Ontario Mills location itself felt a bit sketchy and chaotic. read more

My kids used to come here all the time with Grandma and Grandpa! My youngest was feeling nostalgic on her birthday and wanted to have her family birthday lunch here. We arrived after church and were asked if we had a reservation, and we did not. We were told it would be a 20 minute wait, which kind of surprised me since the place was not very busy at all, but it did fill up. We spent time in the gift shop to pass the time. We visited the Photo Booth and tried our luck at the claw machine--the birthday girl successfully snagged a stuffed elephant! When we were called, we were placed in a line queue to be seated and it took a while. When we were seated, it took a while for our server to come to our table. Granted, we were all getting pretty hungry so that didn't help. Danny was our server and he was great. He got us some chips and salsa while we waited for our entrees. My youngest loved her beastly burger, I loved the salmon and coconut shrimp I ordered. My oldest hated her pasta--the shrimp was overcooked and it didn't have much flavor she said. When you come here, you're coming for the scene, the vibes and the experience, not the stellar food. The storm is cool and we got to experience it a couple times. Had reservations at 4:15 , I made reservations a day prior also called the day of to make sure everything was going to go smooth as we are a party of 13 and it was all of our first time. When we got to rainforest cafe they still had us wait for 30 mins , and finally they were going to sit us down in a table then they made us move to another table , I had called and asked to be seated by the water fountain they sat us at the entrance ( very opposite side ) . We made a reservation and the hostess did a great job getting us a table near the waterfall, still viewing all the animals. Our server was fantastic, extremely friendly and accommodating to a gluten allergy. We ordered a lettuce wrapped burger & the Asian chicken salad - both were delicious. Ambiance is always fun at rainforest but didn't have high expectations for food. We were pleasantly surprised with the food. Nachos to start were thin crispy chips with all the toppings and had no complaints everyone gobbled it up. Meatloaf was baked then grilled served with roasted vegetables and sautéed onions and were pretty good overall. My son ate up the pasta and said it was good. The taco salad was pretty standard but I asked for salsa a few times and it never showed till the end when I was packing up leftovers. I wouldn't recommend the beef, it was a little dry. The Rainforest Cafe is a pretty cool place. I'm absolutely sure a child would surely enjoy coming here seeing the animals props, hearing the sound effects, and enjoying their meal. As an adult, it might be different. Sure, the atmosphere is enjoyable, and I love seeing the giant elephant and the monkey hanging from the roof. But in my opinion, the food and drinks were mediocre. I ordered their steak, and it was tough and dry. I could barely cut it with my knife. It seemed more well done than medium rare. My cocktail came in a nice lit up cup with lights, I thought that was cool! It was a take home souvenir afterwards! Cool Blue Hawaiian drink with Rum! But where's the alcohol?! Yes, it was watered down. But at least I enjoyed the visual. My friends ordered baby back ribs with shrimp. It was pretty good. The meat was also a bit in the dry side, but still good. Tbh, when you come here, it's more about the atmosphere. If you like the movie "Jurassic Park", then you'll like this place, too. I love Jurassic Park... so boom! But the food is mediocre at best. The service however was good. Our waitress was very attentive who made sure we were all content. Kudos for the service. Rainforest Cafe is a great concept. But it's more for families with children. Its just like how I remembered it as a kid! The immersive jungle ambiance with the storm at every half an hour. It was great to revisit many years later. It was PACKED on a saturday night. They stopped taking walk-ins at 7pm, so reservations are a must! The american fare food was seriously good. Would say its a step above other American restaurants such as Applebees. I now have a clear understanding of why this restaurant has closed in our area. This restaurant is clearly only good for the ambiance and only the ambiance. Since we have traveled from the Bay Area to go to Disneyland, I wanted to have a good dinner that my son would enjoy the scenery. We arrived an hour early to our reservation, front desk informed they could not see us early but would text me if they could. Since the restaurant is located in the mall we had no issues with shopping around for some time, especially since we just got done with a 6 hour drive. When we checked back in at our actual reservation time, I realized the lady never checked us in, so we had to recheck in to our reservation. Hostess were not pleasant at all, no smiles, no introduction, they did the bare minimum interaction as much as possible. On my reservation I stated we had 2 birthdays, all we were handed was a birthday hat from hostess, I had to inform hostess that we had two birthdays. Our server Aurora greeted us not too long after being sat. aurora messed up my sons drink order, which not an issue things happen but did forget his drink and I had to remind her of his drink the 2 times she came to the table.Food was mediocre: AMAZON BRUSCHETTA 10/10 only thing that was good we ordered KOREAN FRIED CHICKEN LETTUCE WRAPS 7/10- brought to us like warm, messy. No plates were brought to us for us to eat our appetizers and then when did they only gave 2 plates when asked.(we were a party of 4) POT ROAST- 8/10 again came out like warm. AMAZON CHICKEN FAJITAS- 7/10 the tortillas and the sides came out before the skillet of chicken. We waited about 5 minutes for chicken skillet to eat our fajitas. The rice was way over cooked and mushy. The chicken was the only thing that came out hot out of all the dishes we ordered. We ordered the Korean fried chicken first when we placed our drink order, and somehow everything came at once, appetizers and our meals. Server only checked on our table once during the entire visit. Server never acknowledged our birthdays. When it came down to pay, I gave 1 gift card and a complimentary card that I was given by another Landry's restaurant for some mess ups. The server only applied the gift card and then when I questioned she was trying to brush me off saying "yea it's all there" as she was trying to drop off something at another table. I literally had to point out that I gave her 2 cards and only 1 was applied, she finally took a look and said she will have the manager look at it. The manager never came to our table to introduce and ask regarding the card.. which is fine but it would have been nice to see a face or explain. The manager just applied the $25 complimentary balance. If I would not have caught that second card wasn't applied I would have paid more and then needing to justify to server just rubbed me the wrong way. Aurora was moving way too fast and needs to pay a little more attention to her tables and what she is doing, I feel that mistake should have been taken care of before even bringing the receipt. Service and food was not good in my opinion but again the ambiance is always nice at rainforest cafe. A one and done for me and my family. read more

We stopped into Rainforest Café in Ontario for a faux birthday dinner, and the experience was definitely one to remember. First off, shout out to our server Rebecca, she was friendly, patient, and kept everything flowing even with how busy the place was on a Friday night. I ordered the chicken/steak combo fajitas, and gotta say, I really liked 'em. They came out sizzling hot, with solid flavor and generous portions. Everything felt fresh and well-prepared, and I'd absolutely order them again. As mentioned, we were kind of/sorta celebrating a birthday, and the staff made it extra fun, loud, wild, and perfect for the moment. If you're coming with kids or looking for a place that makes a big deal out of birthdays, this spot delivers. That said, while the theming and atmosphere are definitely cool and unique, the overall food quality and pricing land this experience at a solid 3 stars.
