Felt like some Teriyaki and swung on over to this place. Walking in it's a typical teriyaki spot. Plenty of seating and menu is right in front of you. I ordered a Chicken Teriyaki w/salad. The meat was good as well and the rice...salad was good too. If you're in the area swing by.

What is not to love about this place? The owner and his wife are some of the nicest, friendliest people you'll ever meet, and their hospitality truly sets this spot apart. The portions are incredibly generous, we often get two full meals out of a single entrée. My personal favorite is the sesame chicken. It's just a tad sweet without being overpowering and fried perfectly every time. My dining partner often orders half teriyaki and half sweet-and-sour chicken, both of which are also really good. We absolutely love the egg rolls as well, crispy, flavorful, and always a must-order. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu.

There's still places around Seattle that are iconic one way or another that I haven't fully been to till recently, and this is one of those places, though I was here last year before I started reviewing places. It's situated on busy Rainier Ave, and shares its small parking lot with Vietnamese restaurant Thien Phat next door. I got here around 5pm on a Saturday evening to a cozy interior with many tables for seating, a nice teriyaki smell, and very kind owners who would always make sure that I had everything I needed throughout my time here. They have a large selection of items, though the teriyaki combos stood out the most to me. I got their triple combo, which had chicken and beef teriyaki, gyoza, salad and fried rice. The portions were huge, and I ended up having to box some it to take home. As for the food, it's as great as I remember it from last year! Both the chicken and beef were tender and the teriyaki sauce on both was not too sweet and had the right amount of thickness to it. My favorite was the gyoza since it was more savory than the rest, and nicely done as well. The fried rice was a little bland but I didn't mind that since it acted more like a palette cleanser for me, and so was the salad. This was a satisfying $19 plate, and it could easily be split into two portions! Love this place so much, and can't wait to come back for some quick and tasty food!

Everything about Rainier Teriyaki was 5 star!! The Service- the kindest The Food- the most delicious The portions- the biggest Rainier Teriyaki may look unassuming from the outside, but step in and you are automatically greeted by the sweetest man to ever be alive. He had the biggest smile on his face and was just so thoughtful and so attentive during our visit. The menu has a lot of different teriyaki options to choose from but we went with chicken teriyaki plates (classic). The plate comes with a salad with a delicious dressing. We opened up our teriyaki chicken plate and it was huge. The plate could easily last for 2-3 meals. It was stacks on stacks of chicken pieces along with the two big scoops of rice. The meat was so tender and I loved how saucy the chicken was! The tables had bottles of teriyaki sauce on them so that you could add even more to your chicken and rice. I know that Seattle's teriyaki scene has a lot of choices, but Rainier is supreme!

This is a new teriyaki gem for me! This place was busy from the moment I stepped in and when I left. The parking lot is small but you may be blessed with a spot. The service is kind and quick. My friend and I came for dinner on a Friday evening while there was a lot of foot traffic for to-go orders, but we recieved our food fairly quick. Their menú is extensive, I can't wait to come back and try something new!

Tucked away in a small strip mall, this cozy teriyaki spot feels like stepping into a warm family kitchen. The restaurant is run by a kind Korean family and they provided very friendly service. The C25 combo (Honey Garlic Chicken and Chicken Teriyaki) was absolutely delicious, with portions that were impressively generous. Between the two, the Honey Garlic Chicken stood out as my favorite, thanks to its perfectly balanced sweet and tangy flavor. The Chicken Teriyaki was also flavorful, with a thick and tasty teriyaki sauce. However, I found the sauce a bit heavy for my preference, so I'll be sure to request it on the side next time.

Chicken and beef combo. Enough for two meals easily. Super tender beef!

Generous portion. Fast, friendly service. I had the chicken and beef teriyaki combo. $21.68 w/ tax and tip. Easily enough for two meals, maybe even three. I took it to-go. It was still warm when I got home. The side salad was fresh and crisp. Dressing was kind of a creamy honey mustard? Tasty. I actually thought the beef was better than the chicken. Way more tender than I expected. The chicken was still good, but the beef surprised me. I thought the rice would be too many carbs, but splitting the meal into at least two, it's just right. Winner, winner, BEEF and chicken dinner!

Egg rolls were decent but not my favorite. Salad was fresh & tasty, with that delicious sweet & savory sesame dressing. Fried rice was good but nothing special. Vegetable chow mein was super good - excellent flavor, good amount of veggies & overall generous portion. Honey garlic chicken tasted good but it had way too many small, hard & over fried pieces of chicken. Chicken teriyaki was very good - their teriyaki sauce is delicious & on point. My only complaint was that some of the pieces of chicken were weird and it wasn't necessarily worth it to spend the up charge for breast over regular meat. Everything was cooked fresh & hot, so it appears they put care and effort into preparing the food.

Been here to pick up a few times and I can't say how happy I am to support this local business. Every time I pick up the person helping me (I assume the late owner's son) is super nice and kind. The portion size is huge and it lasts me at least two meals. Such a good deal! So happy to have them in my neighborhood

I may have accidentally forgotten to write any reviews for 2024 so far, but alas I thought what better place to start it off with none other than Seattle's most iconic dish, the chicken teriyaki! I've been meaning to try Rainier Teriyaki for YEARS now ever since finding out it was owned by Sam Kim's family, and after hearing about the tragedy with his late father (the previous owner of Rainier Teriyaki), I really wanted to support this family-owned business. Coming in, we were greeted by the new owner who I assumed was the brother of the previous late owner. He was very friendly and inviting, and helped me and my partner at the register. We both ordered the classic chicken teriyaki for dine-in. The price was very good, ranging around $13-14 per order. Once we sat down and waited for our order, we got the nicely plated chicken teriyaki and the owner brought some extra sauces we could use. I haven't had teriyaki in a long while, so after the first bite my mouth was filled with so much flavour and excitement! Honestly I barely ever eat teriyaki, but after this meal I think I'd have to come back more often. I even surprised myself by clearing that plate completely in such a short amount of time. Guess that is how you know I really enjoyed it! Rainier Teriyaki is definitely worth the hype that all these online food reviewers are giving them, and I would encourage you all to support this business by giving them a try. The service alone makes me want to come back, so I'll be there again soon!

I have had this place on my list for a while, especially after Kenji Lopez reviewed it and gave it a solid recommendation. This is the best teriyaki I've had in a long time. The chicken was tender, juicy, and had some char. The rice was soft and not mushy. The salad was crunchy with a good dressing. The people were so nice too! I got thanked once by the lady at the front and the guy outside the door loading inventory. No online ordering so walk in or phone. Small parking lot available. I would be a repeat customer if I'm in the area. It is a steal for $12.99 for a chicken teriyaki so I'm fine even if prices went up because of the quality. Go support them! This business has had a hard time since the shooting last year of the owner.

My shrimp fried rice was so good. Service was fast and the staff were very friendly. They checked on us and asked how'd we enjoy the food. The restaurant is clean. Good amount of seating available for dining in.

Probably my favorite teriyaki spot in Seattle! The chicken is super tender and flavorful. I usually get it in combo with the beef or the katsu. The katsu is super crispy and really delicious as well. The portions are always big and there's always leftovers which I love. Service is great as well! It also comes with a salad!

The menu and experience differ between lunch and dinner, and this is my lunch review. Simply put, lunch is much more casual and affordable than dinner (You order lunch scanning the QR code at the table). If you're on a budget, you can eat lunch here for less than $20. I went here for lunch twice during my business trip last month and here's what I ordered: - Seafood Tofu Soup - $17.50 - A seafood soondoobu (순두부) with a generous helping of soft tofu, shrimp, mussels and clam, served with rice. Delicious, refreshing and not spicy-I bet they could make it spicy if you asked. I enjoyed the texture from the cabbage bits. - Seolleongtang (설렁탕) - $15.50 - Oxtail bone broth served with potato starch noodles and brisket, comes with salt and green onion already added(typically doesn't at other Korean restaurants). High-quality ingredients and flavor, a great comfort food with a generous serving of brisket. - Shaved ice dessert (빙수) - $9.00 - A great combination of cinnamon, ginger cream and fried rice puffs. Delicious and different than other Korean shaved ice desserts I've had that typically have red bean and overly sweet ingredients. If you're on the fence about coming here, maybe try out lunch first. Lunch is more casual, affordable and simpler than dinner, but is delicious and high-quality. You should come here for dinner too, and I'll post about my dinners here soon.

I dislike the more common 'elevated' where a restaurant makes changes such as swapping meat cuts from traditional recipes to something wagyu without any added thought or creativity in the process. Not at Paju. They are Koreans elevating Korean dishes. The dishes are refined and well-honed. Their creativity shows they know what they are doing. Plating is thoughtful. The restaurant itself is modernly elegant, great for date nights. Note the restaurant is quiet and elegant; perhaps they have a private room for loud celebrations. Staff was helpful with my questions. Food was available in a timely manner. The Food: Octopus, $27 - 5 Stars Served with smoked trout roe and dashima beurrie blanc sauce, this dish is visually attractive and absolutely delicious! One of our top dishes of the night. Paju Fried Rice, $27 - 4 Stars Cooked with kimchi, bacon, squid ink, and quail egg, this dish is one of their most popular dishes. I find squid ink to have a subtle earthy type of sea-umami flavor. The bacon and kimchi are a touch stronger in this combination. It's a good dish, but amongst our five dishes, this one ranked the lowest. Mushrooms, $23 - 5 Stars Served with parmesan cheese shaved so thin it's translucent, white kimchi, and truffle aioli, this dish is the bomb! Excellent for the mushroom lovers, it might convert mushroom haters, too. Lol. Another top dish of the night. Branzino Gui, $51 - 4 Stars Served with four banchan, this dish stands out for its execution - impeccably grilled and plated. The fish is very tender and perfectly cooked. I do think it is a bit plain for the price. Branzino is fairly common in different parts of the world. Ranked 4th for the night. Duck - 5 Stars Duck breast is served with a slice of duck and pistachio pastry plus four banchan. The duck is super tender. The pastry is clever utilizing other bits of duck meat. The simple sauce is very important, adding flavor to the pastry. Also delicious.

The staff is gracious, prompt, professional, and - I hope no one objects when I say this - rather attractive. Generous portions and reasonable prices for what you're getting. The food is nothing sort of legendary - bold flavors and dishes have the perfect balance of sweet, heat, savory, and umami. THE THORNS: None significant enough to mention. NEITHER ROSE NOR THORN: It is important to note that this place is insanely popular with the area's Korean community. The restaurant is quite busy Thursday thru Sunday, and significant waits for a table are likely. Monday thru Wednesday is your best time for going and getting a table without a wait. The price of some dishes, like their signature offering, Kalbijjim, might give you a pause ($80+). It is important to keep in mind this is made to order, and one serving can easily serve four regular appetites. If you're just a couple, you're definitely going to be taking this home with you. This is not a bad thing, as Kalbijjim is one of those dishes that is even better the next day and doesn't suffer from reheating. THE VERDICT: Daeho Kalbijjim is extremely popular, and it's not hard to see why. The execute authentic Korean cuisine pretty much flawlessly with efficient and charming service. What else to you want in a restaurant? Highly recommend. Just try not to go on the busy days.

The first time I visited, the quality of the meat cuts didn't impress me, and the soups lacked depth of flavor. I'm not talking about needing more salt--the broth itself just tasted flat. When you're paying close to $30 for a bowl of soup, I think it's reasonable to expect a higher level of quality and care to ingredients. The second visit was a mixed experience. To be fair, I was in the wrong. There is a clearly posted policy stating that your entire party must be present before being seated. My group was about seven minutes away, and since I had already checked in on Yelp and there were only two parties ahead of me with no one physically waiting, I asked if I could be seated and order while I waited. I had already been standing inside for about 10 minutes. I was told that although tables were available, seating me ahead of the other parties on the waitlist would be unfair. I understood the reasoning, but she had also asked prior for my order. Her explanation left me confused so i sheepishly said I understood the policy. She already seemed upset by the time i had gotten there. Sometimes we have off days i get that. This place is clearly hit or miss, I've got friends who absolutely swear by it. For me, though, it wasn't anything special and didn't justify the price. If you're looking for Korean food in the area, I've had better experiences with higher-quality dishes elsewhere, especially in Lynnwood.

I have dined here before so the interiors isn't too different just small changes. Let's jump to the food- I ordered the galbitang and it came with 10 different banchan. Which is a nice surprise since some restaurants aren't as generous in the banchan. The galbitang was so flavorful for a "clear" soup and the meat was tender. It also included a good portion of meat. I've tried galbitang at other places, but there was an umami that many didn't have. All the banchan were flavorful too, I thought the kimchi had a good balance as sometimes it can be a bit on the saltier side. Service was great too, the sever was friendly and checked often. When I went, it was just me then a couple arrived. There was a delay with their order so she provided some mandu on the house while their order was being prepared. Once they received their order, I heard the couple tell the sever that everything was very good multiple times- their food did look good! I recommend checking this place out especially with the new ownership. Menu looks similar from previous owners, but will for sure go back and try something else!
