This Raley's is gorgeous! The aisles are big, the layout is welcoming, and there is an incredible selection of food and drinks. I've been hit on a few times over the years - always by the same checker - but the store was blissfully absent of any smocked admirers, thanks, I'd like to think, of my refusal to comb my hair, put on deodorant or acknowledge anything other than the quest for superior chili seasoning and the perfect bundle of cilantro. read more

Everytime I go into this store, I'm amazed at something. The customer service is outstanding! The other day as I was waiting in line the cashiers changed. The new cashier saw that the person left his bottle of water. The new cashier that just came on, chased him down. Usually they will take it and just put it aside. Not him. I was so impressed and I told him so. The people in line behind me agreed with me. We all said what great customer service he showed! read more

Overall I like but do not totally love this store. It's convenient, clean, and the staff are very pleasant and helpful. The selection is good. Prices are higher than Walmart but I don't have to drive far, which for me is a huge plus. Parking is a challenge but doable. My only gripe is that the e-cart experience is iffy -- I'm receiving some produce that is already going bad and the online inventory doesn't always match what's in store (selection or prices). That noted, when I call for help they are super quick to either refund or replace items, which I truly appreciate. read more

This review is about the sad breakup of a long love affair. Raley's on Freeport, I'm looking for another grocery store. I'm sad because, we have been tight since the 1970s. Up until now, I've been a loyal customer. When you were in the old building, it seemed like you had it all: excellent customer service, food quality and availability. Then you moved to the new building and I thought our relationship would be the same -- but, it's not. It's become increasingly difficult for my family to shop there because it's harder and harder to find what we need. During COVID, I just always planned to get ingredients for about three different recipes, since a lot of food items weren't regularly available. I doubt that this is entirely caused by gaps in the supply chain. Into 2024, at least twice a month, it's still difficult to find what we need at this Raleys. There are fewer employees around to ask for help whenever you need to find something or when you need to checkout. My husband calls me on his cell phone to complain that he can't find this or that. I told him to do his best and come home. Some of their deli items are so bad, I won't buy anything from there again: about four years ago, I bought some tamales there once and I swear, they tasted like the corn flour in them was cut with instant pancake flour (!). Just a few weeks ago, we bought some macaroni salad. It had black olives chopped up in it, which made it oddly sour -- although, this may have been a matter of taste. The weird floor layout of their groceries doesn't always make sense. Some items aren't where you'd expect them to be, for instance. Bread crumbs are in the spice aisle. Perhaps, the layout is designed to make it easier for store employees to fill online carts for delivery, instead. Sometimes, it's so hard to find what you want, you wonder why you should even come inside. Maybe, that's the point: getting subscription service with store pickup and delivery to replace foot traffic. I gave Raley's on Freeport one extra star -- making two, because my husband did find just about everything on our list, he says it just took him three times longer than it should. Maybe, my love affair with Raley's Freeport is over. If so, there's always more fish in the sea. read more

This Raleys has been updated and it includes a loft! Maybe it's just me but a grocery store with a loft is a vibe (even though I never use the loft) The stores ambiance is nice and makes for a nice place to grocery shop especially during the late mornings or afternoons. It appears that they have a wide array of everything so finding specific food items shouldn't be hard. Edward was my cashier and he was very professional and courteous. I didn't give it 5 stars because the lining up process to the cash registers is meh...not feeling it. read more

Raley's has been near and dear to me for most of my life. I've been going to the Freeport location since I was a baby and it's been the definition of the family neighborhood store. I am so happy that Raley's got a new updated building! It's very modern and refreshing inside. If you're like me, sometimes you run to the store just to see what you need and not necessarily have anything specific you're in need for. I like to start on 1 side of the building and walk up and down the aisles and just explore. I've always felt welcome at Raley's and that same vibe continues with a new store. The Raley's team has always provided excellent customer service, friendly attitudes and really add to the shopping experience, 10/10 would recommend! During this pandemic, Raley's has done their part to ensure that safety comes 1st. Sanitized carts and baskets are available as well as wipes at the door. Mask are required and social distance markers are on the floor. If you still feel uncomfortable going inside, Raley's offers grocery pickup, Stay in the car and let them do the shopping for you! Today was my last time shopping at this Raley's, sadly. I share some of the frustrations others have mentioned about the extra long lines, and the odd layout of the store, but overall I've really liked it and find what I need. What I am over is the staff. There is one tall cashier who, whenever he sees me in the parking lot, he makes sure to walk right up on me. If I slow down, he slows down. If I move over, he moves over and then looms over me. Today he said, "Are you following me?" I think he things he's being flirtatious. It's creepy and instrusive, and today was the 3rd time. I'm tired of trying to dodge him. I don't believe this will come as surprise to management. I can't believe others haven't complained. The other thing is the number of rude cashiers I've encountered. I've never been to a store where the cashiers don't make eye contact as you approach and don't greet you. I've gone through entire transactions without anyone speaking a word. It's awkward and rude. I don't believe I have ever seen a manager on the floor, and that is probably at the root of the problems above. If managers were watching, they would see their cashiers looking unfriendly or put out, failing to make eye contact and failing to speak to their customers. read more

I'm surprised more People aren't talking about the uniqueness of this store! The staff are really friendly and helpful. Every time I come here to shop, everything that I need is always there. Tons of vegan friendly aisles, including hot foods and dairy free ice creams :) It's conveniently located in a great shopping center with European wax center, Kace nails, Chase; all of which I frequent. Orange theory coming soon! The best part about this grocery store and it's location is that there is a large cafe upstairs. There's WiFi and plenty of seating. You couldn't order food or anything at the time I visited due to COVID and it being closed. But you can order food to go and hang. A great change for those who work from home and just want a different atmosphere. Highly suggested! read more

HATS OFF TO SARA!!!!!!! Yesterday while visiting this store, Not ONLY did they have the item we were shopping for, the customer service we received from Sara was above and beyond. I interrupted her from working ( very diligently i might add) to inquire about an item that was empty on the shelf. She immediately radioed back to have the item checked and when they weren't sure, she took it upon herself to go and check. She came back with the item and went to retrieve more after asking how many we desired. She was quick, efficient and Polite. Her name tag indicated that she is management. She delegated with expertise and She's a very dedicated and hard worker. We will be back . Thanks for helping us with the water Sara, your customer service was a blast from the past! It has been a long time coming, but the new flagship Raley's is open on Freeport Boulevard in South Land Park. This new and modern supermarket is the center of a new shopping center on the grounds of the former Capital Nursery. Big kudos to Raley's for keeping the neon sign and displaying it in the store! They are located on Freeport south of Sutterville right next to the old Raley's. Parking is good with several lanes for drive up service. I was fortunate to open up a supermarket as an employee once, so I know how crazy it can be. Opening a new store during a global pandemic is very unique! Most grand openings are packed with people, but I was able to wander the aisles with very few people. The interior of the store is very modern with lots of metal and concrete in darker colors. This store is clearly targeting the high end shoppers of Land Park and Curtis Park with lots of gourmet items, but they still have all the Cheerios and Cheetos too. Their deli and prepared food area is underneath a second story loft giving it a more claustrophobic feel, but this area also houses a Chocolate Fish coffee bar and one of the better liquor departments I have seen in a grocery store. The rest of the store is spacious and open, although the current health concerns have made everything quite weird for the time being. Raley's is looking beyond COVID-19 with lots of social areas inside and outside the store. One of the more unique changes include individual restrooms with a common sink area instead of mono-gender ones. The store also incorporates a lot of energy efficiency upgrades so most cold items are behind glass. It was a little hard to find items in the new layout, but they seem to have a lot of stuff. Overall, I am very impressed by the new Freeport Raley's. There is a lot to like. It is a little too modern and dark for me, but they know their audience. Hopefully we can develop a vaccine fast enough to go back to enjoying places like this! read more

Have ya'll seen the new Raley's building? They have a loft!! Totally Whole Foods feel... I'm sold! We were supposed to head to the in-laws for Thanksgiving 2020, but 2020. I get a call from the MIL that they plan on coming to Sacramento for Thanksgiving at 9 AM Thanksgiving day. I was NOT prepared for hosting any one. No turkey, no eggs, no bread. The hubs and I freak out and try to head to Taylor's Market, but they're closed because it's Thanksgiving Day. We stumbled into Raley's and were surprised at the food selection, the bakery, the wine and beer selection. Total complete upgrade. Thankfully, I was able to get all the Thanksgiving items I needed here. read more

I always shop at florin or rush river belair. I only stop at this location whenever im in the neighborhood. Every time ive came here the experience has been bad besides the sushi counter. Today I came in for a create your own sandwich. Which by the way is over $16 now. I always get my sandwich with 2 meat and 2 cheese choices. Today I was told I would have to pay $2 extra to do that.... Who would pay for a $20 sandwich thats not even gourmet.... I told the deli guy can you just weigh the 2 types of meat/cheese together to total the amount they are required to use. He became irritated and asked how do I want the meat and cheese organized on the sandwich...I told him both meats and cheese the same on the sandwich not split on each side. He looked confused and frustrated again. I then said just make it how you want. (Defeats the person of "Create your own". I get home and its the worst sandwich ive ever had from the belair/raleys deli. Very dry, one tiny thin slice of cheese, skimpy on everything. For the price of that sandwich I expect some sort of effort. I know people don't want to work anymore, but at least try to be friendly to your customers. I remember in the past we would get written up for being rude or not smiling to our customers. Now it seems like its a requirement to be unprofessional with a sour face. Get it together Raley's! I would rather order my groceries online from another company than come into your store and leave spending a premium for my items and pissed at how I was treated. read more

These people are something special. When you buy dairy products, you would expect them to have items that are not expired. On Monday night I bought half and half, my fault was I didn't verify that it was expired until I got home. When I went back to return it I was met with resistance from the customer service team. I had my receipt in hand and still was met with resistance. So I decided not to get enraged because only I would look foolish. So I went back to the dairy section prepared to buy it again just to find out that ALL of the half and half was expired as of 12/8/23. The customer service here is the worst and I will share this with everyone. Not good. Thanks Raley's and Raley's staff, keep up the good work. read more

I was really excited when this location opened because of the various food selections you can choose/make for lunch/dinner. I chose to do the make your own pizza and it looked edible at a glance but was super disappointed after trying it. The pizza dough was still raw but the bottom was burnt with too much flour in the holes and each bite included a mouth full of flour. At first I thought it was the unbearable amount of mozzarella that was on the pizza because when I would pick it up to eat it, everything was sliding off (the raw dough looked similar to the melted mozzarella). I will still continue to shop at Raley's but will never get the make your own pizza again. Wasted around $15 for non edible pizza. If you choose to get the make your own pizza, make sure to check that the dough is cooked all the way through because you can't judge it just from looking at the top apparently. read more

It is sad how Mr Teel has killed the Raley's vision. My family has shopped at Raley's since the West Sacramento store opened about 50 years ago. I am tired of complaining about the franchise's poor service and I am switching to Amazon and Instacart. Raley's corporate management just does not seem to care what their customers think as long as the cash rolls in. No call back from corporate on my latest complaint. When each individual store was responsible for its own pick & delivery, things went fairly well. Once in a while the store would be understandably out of stock of an item. But at some point in the last year Raley's corporate switched the delivery service to the Freeport Blvd store handling deliveries for the Sacramento area. This put too much demand on one Raley's location. Corporate built an add on facility to handle the large volume. Here is the issue: the Freeport facility does not have enough stock to supply all the orders. I haven't gotten a full order since Mr Teel allowed this fiasco to become reality. My last order of $306 was missing 15 items out of 60. 3 of the items delivered were substituted. Missing items were across all departments. Now many will say that it is a distribution issue because of the pandemic. I disagree because my local store in West Sacramento had all those items in stock. I'm disabled and rely on delivery. Why should I pay a delivery fee and tip when I have to go to the local store to get the missing items? The big joke is that the Raley's website claims to be a technology driven company. Yet they can't maintain adequate inventory and they definitely do not have a real time inventory like Amazon. I know I can trust Amazon! read more

Since Raley's moved to the new location on Freeport, the staff is very rude. What happened? They seem angry. I lost my rewards card and two different occasions I asked the cashier what to do. No answer. No help. Long time customer here, I'm considering going to Safeway on Crocker. They have improved their customer service over there at least. Updating my review a year later. The place is clean, but still laid out strangely. The aisles are too narrow for people to pass comfortably. All of the fish and meat in their "frozen" shelves looked strangely thawed, so much so that I wonder if the temperature is set correctly? I spent a long time trying to find one product, and went through the store twice before finally asking an employee in one of the aisles. Guess what, he just giggled and said, "I don't really know." Before walking away. Wait a minute, you are wearing a Raley's apron, you obviously work here, but you can't be bothered to help a customer? They still use the single checkout lane that feeds into the checkout lanes. It was full of people not wearing masks (even though they're required again). Best part, on a busy Saturday morning, they had only one regular checkout lane open. The rest was self check. They can't be bothered to do anything, so I can't be bothered to return. read more

And it's not all of them but the young looking ones. I'm probably younger than them and they seem like they need an attitude fix. Rude ALL the time. Raley's natomas is a nice store but it would be appreciated if they focused on two things . First out of date produce and products with "Best by dates". Second equally important is that the checkers don't focus on the customer in front of them. Frequently they talk with another checker in another aisle. Pretty basic curtesy and unable to ask the checker a question because they are talking over their shoulder. Old raley's on Freeport had friendly service. read more

1 star for good selections of baked goods. 1 star because I feel this particular Raley's has a noticeable number of cashiers that are pretty snobbish. That's twice I've experienced this. But I had to remove a star because after cutting into a 9 inch berry pie that We purchased earlier... Not checking the date on the box and taking it for granted that Raley's is 'always 'on par because of their 'quality '... well, um, I was wrong. The pie was dry and it tasted weird and old. So check the date and even if it's a day away from the expired/best by date, think twice before buying the product. You're warned. That's why I shop at the Nugget Market because they don't make me feel like I'm being judged. The only grocery store I will go to. I have a few close to my house but I drive out of my way to shop at this store. The area I live in isn't the best and I don't feel comfortable going to the grocery store alone with my kids but I feel safe here. It's clean and everyone is so kind. They never make me feel uncomfortable when I have to swipe 3 different cards (WIC EBT and my debit card) to purchase groceries for my family. I love this grocery store. read more

Strange times to open a new storefront, but it was a vast improvement of their old digs next door. I'm glad they kept the old sign and moved it in front of the new place. This is a massive store. The interior has a slightly more warehouse feel with the exposed ceilings. The produce aisle has a more modern setup and looks good. I'm curious to see how this place evolves post COVID shelter in place. The place was very clean and safe. I'd definitely return here. read more

I love this Raley's. They're always well stocked, and the layout of the store makes so much sense. The non-food items are on one side of the store, which really cuts out a lot of time if you know what you're going in for. The short isles are also really convenient to get to what I need rather than some of those ridiculously long isles in other stores. The lines can get crazy long but all the checkers and courtesy clerks are efficient and can get people through quickly. read more

Disappointed in the slide in customer service. Two recent incidents. First, I walked there but forgot a mask. I asked an employee outside, and he led me to the customer service desk where a manager acted as through it was an inconvenience - almost contemptuous - but gave me a paper mask and told me to bring one next time (as if I didn't know). Second, I was in the self checkout line, and that same manager told two men with alcohol to go to the service desk and they'd ring that up. "Great" I thought as I'd forgotten to pick up some wine for Christmas dinner. I went back and got the wine. The same manager told me I couldn't use self checkout and they couldn't help me at the service desk. When I pointed out they just helped others, he walked away. So, I got in the "Express" line (which was anything but express as they let anyone with any number of items use it.) THEN, the same manager pulled the woman behind me from line (with a bottle of wine) and rang her at the service desk. I don't know what this guy is doing, but he's NOT customer service friendly, and seems arbitrary and capricious. I'll get his name next time I'm in. read more

New store, very clean with helpful staff. The bakery department is very good & have purchased some nice birthday cakes. There is good sushi that is made fresh by a Japanese chief. The fruits & vegetables are very fresh. Raley's has a very good pharmacy in the store. read more

This review applies to the Freeport Blvd. location. After many years as a Raley's customer I rarely shop here anymore. Nugget Market has them beat in every category. 1. The quality of their "fresh" bakery products has fallen dramatically. For one example, their apple coffee cake has more apple flavored "goo" than actual apples. 2. The staff is decidedly uninterested in customer service and more interested in chatting with one another. 3. Their self check out machines are obnoxious and will develop an error and stop for no discernable reason. Then you have to hope the attendant notices or you have to flag down an employee yourself. This is especially annoying since customers are pushed into using self check when Raley's decides not to adequately staff the regular checkstands. 4. The spaces in the parking lot are not wide enough for anything bigger than a subcompact vehicle. read more

I don't usually go to Raley's but for the first time since they moved to the new building I finally got to really check it out and I must say talk about an upgrade. I originally came here for my bathroom break and I must say it's really nice having a whole bathroom to yourself with an actual door but I do feel bad for the person coming in after me. Toilet paper is a solid 6/10 as far as industrial toilet paper goes. It could be softer but I get it, gotta save money where you can especially when we are in a pandemic. Perhaps in the future we can invest in something softer? Just food for thought. read more

I've been shopping at the Raleys on Freeport for 25 years. I miss the old store and the friendly customer service it provided for many years. Sure enough this new Raleys has more options and prices are a little lower. But there's a group of young workers here, not all of the young workers, but the group with all the gold chains and gold earrings that are living out their thug life fantasies at the Land Park store. They're rude and overtly aggressive. I'll start shopping at Safeway because of this group. read more

I go to the NuggetIts good in a pinch, but the way they disregard their customers while checking them through, is very sad. It just takes a simple hello, I dont expect them to engage me in a conversation. But I also don't expect the bagger to pretend to puke on the conveyor as I walk up. ..Or the checker to say "So fuckin' funny" Hint.. I can see and hear just fine through the Plexiglas glass. Good thing their produce is good or I wouldn't ever go there. This was today October 30 at about 11AM at the first check out counter. So very, very sad. read more

Don't do e-cart here. Every time I do e-cart here, there are missing items. Even when you request a substitution, they don't fulfil it. Often the produce I request will be the smallest, most bruised, or least ripe pieces. I come to pick up my groceries during the scheduled time slot, and I'm always left waiting at the pickup spot for 10+ minutes and one time I was waiting for 30 minutes. These are consistent problem I've witnessed for several months and I haven't seen this from any other Raley's locations. read more

The new online shopping app stinks. Confusing layout, not intuitive, bad navigation. Dumped all my Previously Purchased items when the new system started. Wasn't working for weeks. And the organization doesn't make sense. For example, on the produce they grouped together Brussels sprouts with alfalfa sprouts and the like. Um, no. They're not even close. If you have been to one Raley's, you have probably been to all. The variations I notice are renovations, cleanliness and friendliness of service. Other than that, you have the basic blueprint for all of them. While this is a locally owned company, I cannot justify supporting them by buying all my groceries here. I stop here, and then go get the other items I need elsewhere. We call Raley's, the "King of Prices". Pricing on par with Nugget Markets, and even higher prices on organic or specialty items than Whole Foods, the markups are what make this store best for small purchases. Unfortunately, given it is close by, I find myself stopping in way too much for last minute items. This store is beautiful- clean and bright, with wide aisles and mostly friendly staff (although I have encountered morose and grumpy checkers on more than one occasion) and includes a wide array of gorgeous produce and other goods. However, buying basic items here will cost you at least 30% -and more- than other stores. Basics like dairy, eggs or fruit will be more expensive for the same product elsewhere. Another example, a certain hot chocolate I like is usually $3.39 here, and I find it at a nearby competitor for $1.79. When they have a sale, there are products that can be a good price. If I am desperate I will get my basics here. The deli and bakery have fresh items, and the coffee is decent. Yes really, pretty decent! If you check in with Yelp, you get a free coffee with purchase of a bakery item. The parking lot can sometimes be dicey, but the service clerks are diligent on keeping the carts out of the way. Nutshell: Pricey, nice and clean, decent coffee, beautiful produce, meh checkers but awesome customer service in other areas, hard to find items, crazy markups, stale bin items, great for flowers. read more

My take is a little different than most. Yes everything negative described by most reviewers is correct. Old store, catty and rude union tail wagging the dog. (Yes particularly bad attitudes by the older deli staff) Rewraps in the meat dept. Seafood a joke. etc. BUT, I have stopped going because they condone shoplifting and pass the costs onto their already too high prices. Why should I pay $200.00 for a cart of not very well curated groceries when any vagrant, criminal, or mentally ill danger to themselves and others can walk out with as many bottles of booze, baby food, razor packs and whatever else passes for currency on the street. As I have pointed out multiple offenses and been told there is nothing anyone can do because of liability I ponder that maybe you need to engage competent councilors. That I wouldn't mind paying for.
