Horrible customer service, this is my go to grocery store after picking up my kids from school since it's on the way back home, but after today I rather drive to another Ralph's out of the way. I was checking out on self check out and I scanned a an item that rang up as part of a pack instead of a single item, gentleman comes up and I show him the price and the item. If he would have told me in a good manner hey sorry we can't sell this someone took it out of a pack I'd be content cool things happen. Instead he proceeded to laugh and comment not today guys with a smirk on his face and then looks at my son and tell him to try harder next time. Like wtf??? My issue isn't that I couldn't buy the item, it's his attitude comments that upset me. I've mentioned things to management there before and clearly they don't take anything serious. read more

Friendly atmosphere. The Ralph employees are friendly and courteous. I don't remember ever having a bad experience there.

I am so pissed at the manager of this Ralph's! I bought several GC there over the holiday season to give as gifts. One of my GC was "invalid" according to the person I gave it to. I included the validation receipt for it. They went to Ralph's to talk to manager and he said there is nothing they can do once the card leaves the store! What is the receipt for? Carts are too big. Maneuvering through the store when busy is difficult and just exiting the store is impossible.

First time visiting the store and not going to be last, super quick and friendly service!

This is my first & LAST time ordering a cake from Ralph's. I ordered a custom football theme cake for my sons bday and they gave me a ugly white cake that looked nothing like the picture. They literally put no effort into the design. It looked like a bland retirement cake, or something you'd pick up last minute if you forgot someone birthday. As the closest market to my house, I frequent this store with some regularity. I am amazed and pleased by the growing selection of organic foods under the Ralph's "exclusive" Simple Truth Organic. The selection of these items from Simple Truth is larger all the time, and I have yet to be disappointed. The prices on these items compete well with conventional (not organic). Why do I shop organic? It is our responsibility to the health of the planet, health of farm workers, the generations to follow, and our personal health to favor organic whenever feasible. Simple Truth helps! Actually, the private label is for sale (I think) to other markets. I see identical organic items with a different name, "Wild Harvest," but in a smaller selection down the street at Vallarta. At Vallarta, these items are also competitive with not organic (conventional: perhaps unknown safety in comparison from farm to table). Food for Less carries a few of the Simple Truth. This Ralph's also has a big aisle of healthier nuts and seed, big but not comprehensive Bob's Red Mill, and other healthier choices. Gone is the lonely overpriced smattering of organic health foods on a dusty aisle. To improve, aim for fair trade with organic on the Simple Truth line. I expect cost will be higher but fair trade is essential. Also, as a bike shopper, bike parking is important to me. The pluses of the Ralph's bike rack: 1. Yay! There is one (so many businesses do not have one 2. Yay! It is covered by the building overhang! Keeps me dry when locking up in the rain. 3. Yay! My horse-shoe lick works on this rack. 4. Boo hoo! To make my bike lock onto the rack, I have to hog the whole rack. I expect that many bike rack purchasing managers do not ride bikes so they do not know the logistical problems biking customers face. See photos. Other bike rack styles accommodate a variety of locking styles--so there is room to improve. Thank you for the improved organic selection; it is like a fantasy in some ways. Update: there is a second bike rack on the east side of the parking lot. Kudos to Ralph's for having two racks. Raised a star. read more

I'm writing this review on behalf of my 80 year old mother. She does not frequent this Ralph's but enjoyed going there because of their wide selection, but after today I told her never to return. She informed me that she went to a cashier that was not busy, no customers in line. As she was placing here items on the conveyer belt, she noticed that a box of crackers she had gotten was open. She apologized to the cashier that she did not notice that the box was open. The cashier just looked at her, not saying anything, so my mother then asked, if another employee could get her an unopened box. The cashier stated, with a bit of an attitude..."no one else is around, so I guess I'll have to go get it". I know I may be knit-picking here, but I've worked in the service industry, and that is not the answer one should give a customer. Also, the cashier did not ask if my mother, again 80 years old, if she needed help taking the cart out to her car. And after the experience with asking for an unopened box of crackers, she was not going to ask for help. My mother instead took the cart out herself, and struggled to get the cases of water and soda into her car. This was very upsetting to her and to our family...what is wrong with people today?!?!? With the number of 1 stars this Ralph's has on Yelp, I truly hope corporate makes a change to the managers and lazy employees here. No one from my family will ever go back to this Ralph's again. read more

Honestly, I like this Ralph's the best. I wish I still lived in this area as it was convenient and a much better area, better quality of service & people that shop there. (Everyone that goes there just seems so well mannered & it's never excessively crowded as the rest of them are) Come here on a holiday and it too is always a nice visit. The other good thing is that they have a lot of good markdowns periodically. The produce there is much better than the other Ralph's too. The Redbox, however is another story. They have two terminals & yet you get some really antsy or unnecessary impatient people than you do in the normal hood. Perhaps they are just use to having it the way they want it, when they want it.....Wouldn't that be a wonderful world to live in if that actually existed. Not likely though in today's real world. I just don't do Redbox anymore because honestly there isn't enough of them around to make it less painful to rent them. Anyhow, I love this Ralph's. Not quite like the one that was handcrafted & sculptured by God..Lol (speaking of the one in Rancho Palos Verdes, just seconds away from the ocean), but nonetheless still one of the nicest in the city of Whittier. read more

The best Ralph's around for me! It's one of the biggest I've been to and they have everything you need to get to it shopping done in one stop. Only thing is if you go too late in the day the meats that are on sale tend to be sold out. That's probably with any location I'm sure but not positive. The employees have all been nice and helpful. They've taken their time to help or find something that I could not and did not hesitate to help. The store is also very clean which I really like. Organization, cleanliness, and options make this Ralph's location a top one for me! Only thing I noticed the last couple times there tends to be homeless or needy people hanging out in the parking lot. The last time one guy was asking people to open their cases of waters every time he seen someone walking with it cause he was thirsty. I understand helping people but he was going up to everyone and asking to open their water to grab one, not okay. That scared a mother who had kids because I seen her face and she grabbed her kids closer to her. Other than that, great place and I recommend this establishment! read more

Conveniently located across Trader Joe's for a quick shop of the 'junkie' food Trader Joe's does not carry ie: marshmallows for smores and not junkie at all, yummy rotisserie chicken PLUS you can have your key made here by a machine and dump your heavy coins for a bigger bill. This Ralph's is my go to store. I have recently tried the new curb side ordering and was very pleased. Carson in the curb side department is awesome. His customer service and friendliness is above reproach. Although I am giving this review 5 stars. They don't deserve it when it comes to flying our countries flag. It's very sad that a great American company like this leaves their flag pole empty more often than not. ATTN: MGT. PLEASE ENSURE OUR COUNTRIES FLAG IS DISPLAYED PROPERLY ON YOUR FLAG POLE. This used to be my go to market about 8 years ago,and have now moved back to the same area . I stopped by on my way home not wanting to cook tonight and visited the deli hot food dept. I purchased fried chicken, wedge potatoes and a couple different salads. The chicken was dry and cold, the potatoes were like dried out pieces of wood!!! The broccoli salad was the only thing done well. I glanced at the very narrow crowded and much needed of an update store , and thought " gee this market has really seen better days. I went to buy a sandwich at the deli department and I asked for help I want buy a sandwich, the person ask a lady name Blanca to help me, I was explaining her the way I want the sandwich and her answer was.. "if you want it like that you need to wait for the other person" with out mentioned she was cleaning her sweat , then the other lady said the bread rolls was back there, anyways Blanca came back to make my sandwich making a holes in my bread and giving me attitude as she was doing me a favor... until I stop her and I said I'm sorry if you have a bad day I just want a sandwich lady and I don't want to star complaining. So I had a list of items to buy, walked in to the veggies and no asparagus, I ask a young man walking by and he said the veggie guy would be coming back from break soon and he doesn't work in that area. So I went to get the other items. Returned to the veggie area about 15mins later and still no asparagus. I walked over to the door where the veggie's are and rang the bell 2-3 times. No one came out. First and last time picking up here, so I placed an order online for pickup on 03/6/22 & not only did I have to walk in and pick it up myself & yet I get charged a $6.95 delivery charge I mean seriously I walk-in my self and still carried my own items to my car. I have had a few horrible and embarrassing encounters with this grocery store. The staff is so rude, mainly a middle aged Latina woman who ACCUSED me of stealing cause I had purchased a pair of gloves and beanie that are sold at all Ralph's locations. When she asked me if I was going to pay for my items I had been wearing since I walked in the store I told her go look at your cameras before you make an accusation like that!!!! I was shocked and mortified! I spend a-lot of money at Ralph's and due to my schedule it's convenient for me to go to since they are open till 1am but the last 2 times I got here at 1245 there door was already locked and they are letting out other customers! I couldn't believe I needed 2 things !!!!! But I am going to get that woman's name because that was so disrespectful and uncalled for! Not fake news. I was in line at this Ralphs when a customer asked, why can't I find the same products that were here last month? The manager said, corporate office is bringing in over 2,000 new products so for several months we are going to be a mess. For some reason, I don't like this Ralphs. OK, I don't really like any Ralphs, but this one bugs me. It's the closest Ralphs to my parents' house, but for some reason, we never shopped here. We used to go to Alpha Beta (RIP), which was located where the Trader Joe's is now. When that closed, we started going to the Vons in the Whittwood Mall. Even when that was closed for remodeling (twice), my parents never came to this Ralphs, even though it's super close. I've been here a few times. It's kind of old feeling, but that's not why I dislike it. I can't really tell you why I dislike it. I can say that some of the people who have worked here for a long time aren't the friendliest sorts. And they used to sell MTA bus tokens, so I guess that was a plus. I normally give it a five-star review, but this time around I have to give it a two. The staff is great (a selected few), only because I have known them for years. Today was a bad experience; we shop here at least twice a day....today we went in for the new Chicken Tenders they are advertizing. This will be the 4th time I have gone in and they didn't have any!!!! Wait, you are telling me that the item you are advertizing like crazy (SIGNS, FLYERS, ADS on my phone), and you don't have ANY for the 4th time in a week? BULL!!!! Apparently they just didn't want to make them. Because another member of my family came and ask for them and they told him "We can make some for you", after my family bitched and complained. Come on, you advertize a product, please let it be ready and or just tell us your sold out!!!! If I could give this store 0 stars I would. We ordered 75 pcs of chicken to be ready at 12:45 on Saturday. We placed the order on Monday, should be plenty of time, right? Not for this Ralph's deli. My brother-in-law went to pick up the chicken, he arrived at 12:40 and was told it would be another 30 minutes. The wait isn't the problem. The problem was the service. The ladies behind the counter were very rude and never apologized. They were just talking when he arrived but when he asked for his order they told him they were backed up. There was no apology offered, and seemed like no rush to process the order. This isn't the first time rudeness has occurred at this particular Ralph's. Don't bother calling! I called today around 5:45pm and was on the phone for over 7minutes with the phone just ringing and ringing. I'd hang up after 2minutes and try another department just to get an answer and nothing Finally the meat department answered my call and "transfered" me to the department I needed but they never answered. My beef is with the Deli department. It's awful. I like boars head meats otherwise I would go to another grocery chain. Workers constantly have their back to customers. No greetings what so ever. Customers are an inconvenience to whatever they are doing. When I put in my request of meat or cheese the amount is never even close to being accurate. I never see them clean the meat cutter in between meats. I'm from AZ, we have Frys which is a sister company to Ralph's. It's so different, there are mult people behind the counter. They greet you, ask you nicely what you need, offer a sample & ask if it's ok if they go over on the amount of meat or cheese selected. So different and very frustrating. read more

Horrible customer service. I carry myself in a positive friendly manner in general & when the people that you give your business to can't reciprocate I have a problem. Especially when they are in management. I came to this store because it said they accept Apple Pay on google. I got in line Joe Gagliano rang me up & when I proceeded to pay using Apple Pay he rudely told me they don't take it. I wouldn't have had any problem had he even expressed some consideration or empathy like the words - I'm sorry we don't accept that method. It's not about what you say but HOW you say it. This is the closest grocery store to my house. The rating is more for the staff/management then the store. I mean a Ralph's is a Ralph's when you compare grocery stores. I don't like that the staff sits out in front of the store, on there break I presume, and smoke. And as others have mentioned the staff is not friendly, you get a gratuitous "How are you?" when you check out, but no one there really seems to care. Hey Mr Manger at Ralph's Whittier - been to the Trader Joe's across the street recently, how about the Fresh and Easy? Now Target sells food!
