My husband and I are always keen on attempting to locate ramen houses closer to home. This one came to our attention from browsing Yelp and we were pretty excited to try it out. We arrived just about 5:30pm on a Friday evening to find it calm and uncrowded. We were very pleasantly greeted and seated. There is indoor and patio seating (the patio is dog friendly to mannered pups during daylight hours only). My husband and I both ordered the R-4 Tonkatsu Shoyu ramen and I also ordered a house salad and he ordered a Pulled Pork and Rice Bowl. The Tonkatsu Shoyu was very good. The egg noodles were extremly delicious and my most favorite part. The house salad is not your "traditional" salad that you have come to expect at other ramen houses (you know, the sweet/tangy ginger salad dressing), which saddened me. This house salad dressing tasted like a heavily smoked sesame oil dressing and was not for me. The Pulled Pork and Rice Bowl was very delicious and on point. We noticed that just after 630pm, more and more tables were being filled and our waitress was becoming overwhelmed with orders. Regardless of this, she remained pleasant and touched base with us whenever she could. It was a good first visit for us and the Tonkatsu egg noodle ramen hit our craving and we didn't need to make a 45 minute drive to El Monte. read more

We were in the area and decided to try ramen naruto based on the good reviews and the fact that they have vegan/vegetarian options. Right from the start we were impressed by the great hospitality as we were greeted by the entire staff, including the cooks. For starters, we both ordered the green tea lemonade and shared the potato croquette (includes two) which were delicious. I'll admit I was a bit apprehensive about their vegan ramen as I have had bland vegan ramen at other restaurants, but I was pleasantly surprised at how tasty it was! I even ate the kale included in the ramen, and I hate kale... I chose to play it safe and only have the spice level at 2 but it had just the right amount of kick for me :) my bf had the spicy (level 3) miso tori ramen and he was beyond satisfied and glad it included white meat instead of the usual dark meat at other restaurants. Overall, we really enjoyed our meal and wish we lived closer to the restaurant! But we will definitely make the journey next time we are in the mood for ramen! :) read more

I was really impressed with this place. I ordered the spicy miso tonkatsu combination with a pulled pork bowl. The broth was terrific. Great flavor. I would be careful about how spicy you order it. I have a high spice threshold and the 3 out of 5 was on the brink of being too spicy for me. I would have probably been more comfortable with a 2. The pulled pork bowl was great too. Really tasty. My only complaint really would be the portions were a little small. Usually I would have a rough time finishing a bowl of ramen and a rice bowl. But had no problem at all. I didn't even have to kick it in to 5th gear. Also i would be nice if it came standard with an egg. I liked the bamboo shoots, that was a nice bonus. First off, there is only one TV in the restaurant playing the Naruto show on mute. I was expecting more. We were greeted the second we walked in. Service wasn't too bad. Food took about 15 min to arrive. There are a lot of ramen options to choose from. I ordered R3 Spicy Miso Tonkotsu with soft boiled egg add on ($1.50). The total came out to about $12 for my bowl of ramen. Kinda pricey so I give this place 3.5 stars. Round it up to 4 stars. The broth was thick and tasty. Noodles were nicely cooked. You can choose the spicy level of your ramen here. I got level 4 spicy (out of 5) and it hit the spot since I like spicy food. To be honest, I was in Azusa with my friend to do some errands and stumble upon this place. There are not a lot of good ramen restaurants in Azusa so we decided on Ramen Naruto. I wish I had found this gem sooner. I absolutely enjoy eating a bowl of ramen whether it's hot or cold out and this place has an amazing variety of ramen dishes. They have different levels of spiciness for the ramen which I like because sometimes I'm a wimp and don't want to eat anything too spicy and other times I feel bold. Also, try their potato fried thingys. They're delish as well! It's an appetizer and I don't remember the name which of course isn't helpful, but look on the menu and you'll find it. I had their Thai iced tea too and it was good as well. The best place to get Ramen in Azusa! This spot is a hidden gem in my area. There's not many ramen restaurants around here, so thank you, Ramen Naruto for being one of the only ones. There's usually a wait around dinner time. I usually order the Spicy Tonkatu Miso. I like a hint of heat, so I tend to go with the spicy choices. The service is usually quick. I've only eaten the ramen here each time I visit. You get a good amount of pork pieces but it's the flavors of the ramen broth that makes me continue to wanna come back here. My mother and I were in route for BLT's and we saw this gem and decided to try it out and what a wonderful change of plans. Absolutely delicious!!! The curry was scrumptious and we ordered the katsu to dip in it and oh jeeze was that a good idea. I love Ramen Naruto, but this recent experience with their new hours is a terrible decision. I came at 8pm, and was promptly told that they would only take to go orders until 8:30pm and that last call was at 8pm. In fact, they were changing their hours to close at 830pm and 930 on the weekends. I understand that they are changing hours, but why not seat us when we arrive 30 minutes before close? Especially when you are taking to go orders until 830? I ended up placing an order for a to go anyway because their ramen is great. The nice waitress told me they are under new management, which is unfortunate because this place is so amazing and I'm a regular...now I'm not so sure. Take note, new management. I watched 6 groups walk out from 8 to 830 after they were told they couldn't be seated. Hope things change soon or I may need to find a new ramen place. read more

I give this place 3.5 stars but I'm rounding up to 4 and I'll tell you why... Cons: -Ramen does not include soft boiled egg like most places do...in fact, it's $1.50 extra! -Menu is a bit confusing, especially when it comes to the combos. One type of combo you can order ramen and add on a small rice bowl but does not come with house salad, and the other combo set you can order karagge or other sides and it does come with a house salad. Like what? Just have the combos all together, and not on different pages and different kinds of combos. -Seating feels tight -There are printed papers posted around the restaurant advertising poke bowls and other items, making it seem like they are on sale or special, but they're actually just regular priced items that are on the regular menu. I don't understand the purpose of that -Prices are actually a bit high IMO Pros: -There really is not any other ramen places in the Azusa area, so this is a great option for the area -Spicy miso tonkatsu ramen is flavorful and noodles are chewy. Karagge was delicious and juicy. House salad was tasty. Spicy charsu bowl was odd...it was shredded pork. Other places use cubed/chopped pork. Also the menu said it was supposed to come with bamboo shoots but there were none. The spicy veggie miso ramen is awesome. It's chock full of veggies, the egg noodles are thick and chewy, and the veggie miso broth is not only spicy but delicious. I'm very pleased with Ramen Naruto. It's an intimate place that serves quality food. Their service is friendly and their staff are concerned about their customers experience. My favorite dish hands down is their Takoyaki. Cooked to order, fresh, and very flavorful. I'll be returning more often solely for this dish! That being said, there are a two things that prevent me from granting 5 stars to this restaurant: -1 there wait times are harsh during rush hour. Be sure to call ahead or make a reservation to avoid any hassle. -1 their $10.00 Black Garlic egg noodle ramen was a bit too salty. Perhaps the chef overlooked the amount of salt or perhaps that's just how the dish is prepared, but it was too salty. Certainly was a downer considering it was more expensive than the other ramens. One may want to avoid this dish, but it's still worth trying for most! Since trying out this place for the first time, I'll be recommending this restaurant to my friends and family and coming back for more. read more

Came to this spot with my co worker. We were in the area and ramen sounded good. Got seated right away. There were two servers, guy and girl and both were on point with making sure things were good. I got the R8 medium spice. I was very impressed with the broth and the noodles. My top spot for ramen is a little place in temple city and this place is up to par. The service was really great and fast service got here pretty quick to the table. The waiter a young man with glasses very nice and took his time. Writing a review, because he was so calm with the picky person next to us, she complained about an order being messed up before but she is so picky how she ordered, and how she orders. He was patient and took his time with her and her small child. Goodjob on that part! Dealing with difficult customers handled well. Sad to say, we were disappointed. Greatly disappointed. $9.50 for pork ramen and the 2 sad little slices were a far cry from the pic. When we told the waitress, although very apologetic, didn't rectify it. Oh well. We came at the soft opening and thought they just needed to get it together back then. I guess they still do. I've been coming to this spot for quite some time now especially since I've been going to Citrus. This is the second time where I come back with my take out order and they forget to add 1-3 things yet still charged me. First time it was just missing an order of egg when it was a bulk order of 4-5 bowls but this time it was only one bowl and they forgot to add two different items. The best ramen place in this area! You can expect pretty good service, and not a long wait for your food. I typically order the R-9 or R-91(Kelp noodles) which are both vegan options, both are pretty tasty however I wish they put a little more veggies and tofu on it. I also am a fan of the seaweed salad!
