Had to park on a near street, and had to do a little walk to the shop. wait time is bearable. got a table for four and we were greeted by a welcoming host. we were recommended to get tantan ramen. however, we got more than that-we got daikon salad, shrimp fried rice, and 2 ramens. my favorite was the fried rice-i could eat those everyday. tantan ramen is delicious too. all in all, it was a great visit and a great meal. there will be a next time once we ever get lost in los angeles area. read more

I came here because my Japanese hair stylist told me this is the place to go (and not Sawtelle) for authentic Ramen. Upon arrival, there were lots of people standing by the entrance of the restaurant on the inside and outside, which was kind of confusing. There were so many take our orders and with people also waiting to dine there, it was a little messy. There were only two parties in front of us, but we still ended up waiting 40mins to get a table. Then we waited another 40mins for ramen. I suspect they might have been short staffed that day and I can only write about my experience. Taste wise it's pretty delicious. We ordered a Asianya tantan and Surantan. Both were solid choices, would definitely order again! Service was actually really amazing. They were all really sweet and genuine. What a hidden gem! A ramen spot not in Sawtelle is something else and PARKING!? Can't get better than this to be honest. The spot is kind of small so be prepared if there is a line. The employees were super nice an accommodating since we had a dog with us and we came an hr before closing. The Chicken Karaage was so good. The chicken pieces were thick and juicy. Totally recommend this as a appetizer to start or even as a meal itself if you're not sharing. But the real winner are the ramen options this place has. I got the Suratan which is basically a egg drop hot and sour soup with ramen. I got it mild spicy and let me tell you it's not spicy at all and I'm a wimp because I think Sriracha will kill me. Once upon a time before fatty-pork tonkotsu ramen ruled the land, there were places like Ramenya, serving classic Japanese ramen in clear broths. Originally located on Olympic, right around the corner from Sawtelle, Ramenya always had a crowd of diners waiting outside. Since then they've moved to new digs on Gateway, with a parking lot conveniently located outside. The restaurant has a contemporary decor, nice and bright, with Edison lights hanging from above. Their menu lists several different types of ramen, from which you can select your choice of broth for your ramen - shoyu, salt or miso. I usually stick with The Basic which comes with roasted pork, bean sprouts, bamboo shoots and green onions. It's pretty bland, but I keep ordering it for the roasted pork, which people either love or hate. (It reminds me of my mom's, so I'm in the love category.) If you're looking for something with more flavor, there's the Spicy Miso, Tom Yam and Kimchee ramens, guaranteed to make your nose run. My favorite is the Hiyashi (cold noodles), which is super flavorful and perfect on a hot day. They do a great job packing the ramen to go. Great location- away from the congestion of Sawtelle, if you don't like to deal with the hustle and bustle when you go out! My family has been coming to this location for close to 30 years - from the very first Yokohama Ramen until the Ramenya today. We've often had good experiences. Wait can be very long on weekends but they always have 3-4 waiters or waitresses so service has been good consistently. Ramen choices are many and it's always a safe options. ** Their rice dishes used to be great but seem to have changed, alas not for the better. My last order of Mabo Rice was very disappointing! I searched and searched only to find a handful of ant-size pork bits! The entire dish was just very salty sauce plus tofu over rice. Parking can be difficult inside their lot but the residential streets in the back usually have spots. One of the best things about this restaurant is they are NOT in the over congested Sawtelle area so it's much easier to get in and out. read more

I don't know where my love of red ramens came from (me love red things), but I have always been hooked. They usually have interesting flavor profiles (although I am complete S**t at describing flavors - and smells btw but let me get back to my review). I walked in around 1:00pm and was surprised at how many people were not in there, but about 10 minutes later, the place began to fill up. Since I searched through the photos, I nearly screamed at the waitress when she took my order. "GIVE ME (breath - relax) that delicious looking Tan Tan". I was not disappointed when they brought it out either. First of all, the bowl was GIGANTIC. I knew I wasn't going to be able to finish it all, but my glutinous side is always up for a challenge. As soon as the broth hit my lips, I muttered "uh oh" this thing is scary good. The broth was an amazing combo of sweet, spicy, and creamy. I knew that this was going to be a top contender in my ongoing game of TAYLOR'S HUNT FOR THE BEST RAMEN EVER and when I find a good ramen, it's dangerous for both my waistline and wallet (curse you diet gods for sending me something this amazing before I get with the program). The quality and quantity control of this restaurant are always consistent whether there is a pandemic lockdown or not. It is no wonder they are one of the restaurant businesses that survived. Friendly staff and knowledgeable about their menu; a big help for new and picky customers Been going to this place for years. We like ordering the Laksa and Tan Tanmen ramen. There is a fair amount of noodles, meat, and veggies. The karaage is just the way I like it, lightly crisped and the batter is not tough to the bite. with a hint of japanese umami. Their take out portion is exactly the same as their dine in serving. I never feel like I paid too much and regret ordering food-to-go. They carefully package their food in spill- proof containers. They even add a piece of card board in the bottom of the take out bag to ensure that the food does not leak out of the individual containers which can be a frustration when ordering from other places. DO NOT order the sausage, it's literally a fancy cut Oscar Mayer wiener. Now to the ramen. We both ordered the Asianya ~Hot~ Tan Tan ramen. I added an egg (a lil surprised it didn't already come with one) and roasted pork (chashu). It already comes with ground beef and spinach but the added toppings really made it for me. Okay but THE BROTH!!! It was the most flavorful ramen broth that I have ever had. It was a lil sweet, a lil salty, and creamy...the perfect balance of flavors. The noodles also weren't overly thick and were just right. Chashu was tender and delicious. This was a 12/10 and you must order this one!! The service was attentive and friendly and though the prices were a little high for a bowl of ramen I would come back. The ramen shop has very limited seating although they do have some seating outside. Food: You should go with the restaurant's specialties which are highlighted on the menu. 1. Tan tan men hot - This is one of the best ramen dishes I've had. The soup is not too heavy and the noodles are perfect. You'll want to finish all the noodles and drink all the soup. 2. Chicken karaage - It would be hard to find a place that makes chicken karaage better than Ramen-ya. It comes with 5 large pieces, a small salad and mayo. It comes out steaming hot. 3. Garlic fried rice - A very unique flavor that complements all the other food very well. 4. Nori nori salad - This is the perfect start to what is likely to be an amazing meal. I've had versions of this daikon salads at other restaurants and none can compare. Value: Fairly priced for west LA Japanese food. The portions are large. Service: The servers are consistently very nice and the food always comes out promptly. Other: This is my husband's go-to restaurant in West LA as he has been going there for the last 10 years. Love this place! I have been going here for a long time. I always get the Zasai fried rice, which is always delicious, but came back here the other day to try some new dishes. I got the chicken karaage which is absolutely amazing, comes with a salad that is also really good and a mayo dip that is also a perfect sauce to try with your chicken karate. I also got the egg drop tan-tan which was a ramen in an egg drop broth. I loved how it was a spicy soup we asked for as mild and it was still tasty despite not being spicy! However, this place has gotten tight. I've noticed they have added tables that make the space really tight and crowded. Our old stomping grounds! Used to come here when they were on Olympic and loved it back then. There weren't many ramen options at the time, but it was our go-to ramen joint. 3 kids later, we finally had the opportunity to check out their new place and it didn't disappoint. Still a small place with limited seating, but still got a seat within 10 minutes for 2 adults and 3 kids. I used to always get the TanTan-men. Since the reviews are still very good for that dish, had to go back and try it again. So glad I did! They now call it Asianya-hot, but its still amazing! Broth was flavorful and spicy. The noodles were good texture. The ground beef was sweet which added a really nice contrast. I added an egg which was perfectly soft boiled and not hard like some places. The spinach made it... healthy? It was good as well. Also tried their Deep Fried Chicken. Came in little chunks like a karaage style chicken, but for some reason they call it 'Deep Fried Chicken'. I think Karaage chicken sounds much better. Not sure why they don't call it that. Anyways, the chicken was moist and breading was light with good texture. Kids shared the Fried Rice which was decent but not mind blowing. Wife generally gets a Tonkatsu style but they don't offer that here. So she got a shoyu with chashu. I tried a little and it was decent, but I really liked my Asianya-hot better. Overall, great reliving some memories. They've expanded their menu to include much more than ramen. Although I was not a huge fan of the spice in the broth, it definitely had a unique taste! I added bamboo shots, bean sprouts & replaced the ground beef with pork. The portion & amount of toppings were great, the bowl is huge, I had to get a to go container! Other than the spice flavor of the broth it was very good, even re-heated it was still good! We also tried the basic soy ramen, the flavor was interesting & probably would go with miso flavor next time, but overall it was really good & my partner finished the entire bowl, it also helped him recover from a hangover immediately lol we also had the gyoza which were really good, although I felt like the overall flavor was missing something. Unfortunately the flavor was not all there for us, but other than that everything was deliciously cooked & still yummy!
