I've been here several times over the years and it WAS over-priced and the food was not fresh or that great, except for the tamales which have always been great. My husband took me here today and it was completely transformed! Awesome service, the staff were so nice and quick to answer our questions. The food was all very fresh and so, so much of it! It tasted so great!!! They make their own corn tortillas which come with the menudo. The menudo was excellent, it's a huge bowl stuffed with tripe and hominy and just spicy enough that the tortillas were the perfect compliment. The tortillas were the best and freshest I've had in many years. They're $2 a dozen if you want to take some home. I did. :) The menudo was $10. We shared a jalapeño & cheese tamale which was served covered in a verde sauce and was completely divine. It was so huge we couldn't finish it. We are definitely having it again. I did think the price was a little high, $4 for one. Honestly though, I think I could just have that for lunch and be full so maybe if you're just having that then the price is worth it. The masa was so soft and perfectly seasoned. They sell a half dozen of these for $12. My husband had three carne asada tacos with rice and beans. He loved the tacos. In fact, they filled him up! He really liked the flavor of the rice. I think he felt the beans were too runny but they were definitely freshly made and very tasty. $2 for each taco and $3 for the rice and beans. I took the family here for my 21-year-old daughters birthday and we couldn't have been more disappointed in the food and the service. The place was packed with people and there were two waiters on staff. The food was cold by the time that it arrived over half hour after we placed the order. I was dragged here by coworkers after swearing I wasn't hungry. "I'll take the chicken salad." That darn salad was so tasty! And sooooooo big! Red sauce, no sour cream.... cheese pushed to the side. Love the freshness! The radishes and avocado! The place is super unpretentious... we loved the piñatas! And she loooves the mocha churros. My new favorite place in Tumwater. This was one of our first adventures out of the house, post pandemic, and it was so worth it. The margaritas are fresh and have a great ratio of tequila to mix. I had the torta and my wide had the nachos. Both were flavorful, fresh and tasty plus very affordable! Great spot in Tumwater. We will be back soon to check out the fresh salsas and chips. read more

It's very unfortunate with the way the economy is right now. Price is going up and the size of what you get is going way down. I love Ramirez and all the people that work there. There food is great too. However, the tacos were size of a fist with, if measured out, about 2 tbsps of meat. These were tiny! We got 7 tiny tacos and 2 kids bean burritos and paid 40 (including a $5 tip on our to go order). Down side...the the reason for 3 stars...we also had a ton of fat in the meat. I don't fault the restaurant. Their fees are going up too but geesh! This is why we don't go out very often anymore. Pay a lot and get very little. read more

I got take out from here via DoorDash. I ordered a shrimp burrito, shrimp tostada and queso dip. First off, my question dip came without chips. What?!? The shrimp tostada wasn't bad. The tostada was mushy, but that's understandable considering it's been in a box for a bit. The shrimp burrito was supposed to have shrimp, cabbage, cheese, pico and sauce. The "pico" was huge chunks of onions and bell peppers. It wasn't good. Now the queso. I am used to queso being smooth and delicious. This was some form of chunky, yellowish brown sauce. As a transplanted Texan, one of my biggest sadnesses is the lack of quality Mexican breakfast places. Glad I noticed Ramirez's open sign while on the way to breakfast elsewhere. U-turn pulled, and one of the best decisions of the month. Delicious fresh chips and salsa, friendly service and amazing breakfast plates. We had huevos rancheros and carnitas, served with retried beans and rice. Soft, fresh corn tortillas on the side. Heaven. Now open for breakfast daily, starting at 7am. read more

So much so that each time after 1 bite the food was tossed in the trash and i was left hungry rummaging in my pantry. Their meat is so horribly dry. Chimichangas soggy and not crispy, not even to where they were once crispy and got soggy on the drive home. Like a wet diaper on the outside and dry on the inside. Flavorless. Their queso... can their lumpy citrus disgusting thing they gave me even be considered queso? No. Carne asada bland.. picadillo as dry as the saharah, chicken chewy. the worst Mexican restaurant I've ever been to. Ive even told my bf no more ordering from this place. The only thing they have going for them is their beans. Do yourself a favor and literally go anywhere else. read more

I ordered using Uber eats two nights ago and I am still sick!! I ordered a chicken Chimichunga and their QuesoDip Nachos. Chimichunga was soggy and gross and the nachos...whatever curdled cheese ish goop that is on top in this pic didn't even resemble cheese and was just plain nasty. 3 bites and I was sick ALL night...all day yesterday and still today. The sauce is not overly salty, tamele has shredded pork inside and taste very good! 4 stars instead of 5 is because there are no condiment available for take out order (such as salsas, pickled carrots & chilies). There are lots of places to eat in the greater Olympia area. Ramirez Mexican Store is one of the best for Mexican food. The store is not huge, but they have many items one would need to prepare a proper Mexican meal. The jewel though, is their restaurant. Attached to the store, it has Mexican decorations and roomy booths. Starting our meal, we were presented with fresh chips and salsa. The chips were crisp, flavorful, and properly salted. The green salsa was OUTSTANDING. We later had the red salsa, and it was very good too. Our waiter was timely, accurate and had a good sense of humor. We both ordered wet burritos. The pork with green sauce was ordered by wife, and it was huge, with a nice amount of sauce. The burrito was fully filled, and included spiced pork, rice, beans and guacamole and tomatoes. I ordered the chicken wet burrito with green sauce. It was well stuffed as well, with shredded chicken and all the components mentioned above. We bought chips and salsa from the store to take home. Great snack. We then returned two days later for dinner. We both had the chicken enchiladas. They are made with a standard corn tortillas, and you can choose between 1, 2, or 3 enchiladas, served with rice and beans, with a green or red sauce. The enchiladas were outstanding, fully stuffed with a mix of shredded white and dark meat. The green sauce had a nice amount of spice. The beans were very flavorful, and the rice was nicely seasoned. We were fortunate to have the same waiter, and his service was great. Ramirez Mexican Store has become a new favorite for Mexican meals for our family. Eat here. read more

This has to be one of the worst "authentic" Hispanic restaurant I've ever seen. Want a tamale ? Sure. $4.99 a piece. Oh and a burrito? Which one normal or carne asada? Ones $9.99 and carne asada is $11.99 The quality of the food is very bland and mount the burritos with an excessive amount of lettuce. And the owner was very rude. If you want quality over quantity or quantity over quality, this isn't the place for you I'd rather spend my $12 on two chalupa boxes in Taco Bell and get a bang for my buck. read more
