Deep fried corn on the cob
    Rodger S.

We loved this place! We started our meal by having milkshakes. When we ordered them, our waitress mentioned that each shake had 8 scoops of ice cream in it! They were excellent! For our entree, we ordered a fried chicken platter to share. Each of us had a breast & we shared the 3 sides. The chicken was delicious. For one of our sides we ordered the corn oysters, which were sort of like flat corn fritters & were very good. For another side we ordered deep fried corn on the cob, which my husband gobbled down. We also had mac & cheese, which was good too.

The bar, it's a full bar now

This is a country restaurant... the first time I ate here I was 7 (57 years old now) with my granddad. Sitting at the bar (at 7) eating pimento cheese sandwiches and bagged chips. At that time it was the last store going out of town. 2 gas pumps, country store staples and they had a full bar with sandwiches, homemade soups ect. I fondly remember watching granddad smoking Kent's, and drinking curry sark( not his brand but what they had) with this in mind I stopped in today. The food was comforting and the beer was cold. I had the hot brown, An open faced turkey ham sandwich with tomato covered in bechemel sauce and topped with cheddar cheese and bacon. It was exactly what I needed on a cold rainy day. Staff was nice and attentive. They have an excellent selection of pies with meringue to stunning levels. I didn't have pie today but yeah it's pie. The worst meal I've ever had at Ramseys was fantastic. The decor is pretty much old country store because... it used to be an old country store. Very relaxed and casual. They have several other locations in town but this will always be ramseys to me

Cajun catfish, green beans, fried corn, mashed potatoes with creamed gravy. Yummy hush puppies. Mmm good

Fantastic atmosphere. Our waitress Sadie was very helpful and provided great insight. Food was hot and fresh. Definitely recommend will visit again. The livers were liver lickin good!! Grammy would love these!!

Cajun fried catfish with three sides: fried okra, coleslaw, and apple fritters!

A really excellent spot for some classic southern food! This was my first time at Ramsey's and it was really nice. The service was friendly and efficient, even during a Friday rush! The inside is quaint and simple, and the food was flavorful and well prepared! We enjoyed our meals a lot - the buffalo fried chicken was zippy and had a great crunch! My fiancé ordered the Cajun catfish and loved it as well, his sides were also well made and super tasty! We didn't have space for pie (but we will have to come back for some because it looked spectacular!). Overall, we had a lovely experience and I look forward to coming back again!

The atmosphere is super cozy and we felt welcomed from our first steps in. We were warmly greeted by the hostess and we met Michaela who took fabulous care of us for the evening! We settled in to a couple of their specialty cocktails (midwinters night dream and cardamaro manhattans - yummy I'll say) and the Brussel Sprout starter. Let me say to come hungry because the portions are large but yummy. The sprouts are a meal all by themselves! But there's more! I had the porcini rubbed filet and Teresa had the cabbage confit. Both portions were sizable and while I know she loved her cabbage, I was in heaven with a perfectly prepared filet that just melted in my mouth. Plus the asparagus spears and the Okinawa sweet potato mash were perfect accompaniment! Sadly, there was so much goodness we ended up bringing some home and we'll have to come back for dessert and another menu sampling. All in all a very memorable experience and a great place for a birthday dinner! But we'll be back just because! Special closing shout out to Michaela for taking such great care of us.

I ordered the burger without the bun or fries, and it was so overly salty that I struggled to finish it. My wife had the CACIO de PEPE, which tasted quite different from what we're used to, and the pasta was overcooked for our liking. My brother-in-law ordered the fish tacos, which were easily the standout dish at the table. My sister's chicken cesar salad was decent but nothing particularly memorable. The restaurant itself feels a bit unexpected for a rural setting, which may help explain its strong ratings. For me, though, it's not a place I'd go out of my way to visit again--more of a "fine if someone else suggests it" kind of spot.

He was informative and enthusiastic about the options, including the shrimp and grits that I ordered off of the dinner menu. They were incredible, the real deal! The shrimp was fresh and wonderfully seasoned! My wife ordered the Cuban with fries and she loved it. The seasoned fries were surprisingly great! We each boxed about half of our dishes to go, but then Wayne offered desserts. My wife ordered the bourbon cake but when Wayne started describing the chocolate cake, I had to get it. We took both to go and ate everything when we got home. I'm a chocolate addict and simply put, the chocolate cake was the absolute best I have ever had! It was a thing of beauty, dark and rich and topped with a white chocolate design! Each type of chocolate, one after the other, offered a distinct and delicious flavor. It was an experience! You can tell they're putting some effort into the food instead of relying on the cool Ford theme to carry the place. The burgers are seriously good, cooked right and full of flavor, and the onion rings are definitely worth ordering. Everything we tried tasted fresh and well prepared. Service was just as impressive. Friendly, attentive, and on top of things without constantly hovering around the table. And then there's the atmosphere. If you're into cars, especially classic Fords, you could probably spend half the meal just looking around. The vintage cars, engines, gas station details, and garage theme are extremely well done. Even the bathrooms are part of the experience, which is a sentence I never expected to include in a restaurant review. It's just a fun place with genuinely good food and great service. Ford's Garage could easily get away with being a novelty restaurant, but the food is good enough that I'd come back even without all the automotive stuff. Definitely one of the more enjoyable restaurant experiences I've had in Lexington. We'll be back.

Southern Cookhouse features scratch-made dishes using local ingredients, a variety of burgers, pizzas, and classic Southern entrees. I started with the Chicken & Sausage Gumbo because I love soup and all soup-adjacent things. The gumbo had a good, rich flavor from the roux, with subtle heat and a sweet finish. The chicken had a nice flavor, a little saltiness, and it was tender. The Andouille sausage was cooked well and rounded out the flavor profile. The tomatoes and scallions added brightness and crunch. The rice had a few hard pieces, but overall it was good. I do want to mention that I did find a few chicken bones in the dish, just so people are aware. My wife tried the Dunwoody Cobb, made with Grilled chicken breast, boiled eggs, bacon, avocado, tomato, and blue cheese crumbles, with spring mix tossed in Dijon vinaigrette. The lettuce was crunchy and fresh. The bacon had a great salt level, crunch, and crispiness. The avocado added a creamy richness to each bite, while the tomato's acidity cut through the Dijon mustard's sweet and bitter notes. The star of the show was the salty, nutty, creamy blue cheese crumbles, which meshed well with all the other components. The chicken was cooked well and had good flavor, but it was dry. While I avoided it, my wife said the boiled egg was well-cooked and added it to the salad. I had the Nashville Hot chicken, which comes with spicy pickles, coleslaw & mayo on slider rolls with potato salad. The potato salad was mustard-and-mayo-based. The potatoes were soft but still offered some texture. The mustard and mayo balanced each other and added flavor. There were eggs in the potato salad, but they blended into the background and did not stand out. The sweet pickle relish added crunch and texture without being overly sweet. I'm not sure if it was made in-house or from a container; it was good nonetheless. The slider was fresh, soft, and nicely toasted. The slaw was medium-chopped, with a great mayo ratio and a good sweetness, tasting fresh, crunchy, and creamy without being so rich as to drown out the vegetables or the chicken. The pickle was not spicy, but a thick-cut bread-and-butter type with a little sweetness and a velvety, buttery flavor. The chicken was juicy, tender, and cooked well. The Nashville-style spices were mild to medium, just enough to know it was there but not so overpowering that it was all you tasted. It was not overly oily either, which often plagues sandwiches of this type. The entire sandwich worked well together. Southern Cookhouse has a full menu, but some items do rotate or are seasonal. The bar is fully stocked, offering draft beer, tea, and soft drinks. They offer counter ordering, and the staff is very friendly. The Fat Man says that Southern Cookhouse & Bar is Fat Man Approved with 2 chins.
