This particular Ramsey's is the first place I want to eat, when in Lexington. Love the rustic, "country" location (many years ago, we used to cruise the nearby roads, when this was "way out in the country"!) Love the veggie and original Hot Browns, Mum loves her Reubens, and love the fried green tomatoes and okra, and fresh local vegetables in summer. And lawd hammercy, sweet tea! This is probably the loudest restaurant I've ever eaten at. I had to shout to hold a conversion with other people in my party. The sound meter on my phone registered 84 decibels -- and that's just ambient conversion! If there was music playing, I sure as hell couldn't hear it. In my opinion the food was meh. My meatloaf was sub-par, the mashed potatoes tasted like watery instant potato flakes, and the macaroni and cheese was barely better than Kraft. My wife said her chicken strip salad was nothing special. We've had better food at Cracker Barrel for less $$. We will not be returning. read more

I was recommended Ramsey's by a Lexington local so we were excited to take the moms there today! We were just a bit disappointed there was no room pie , so next time we will have to pace our selves. It has a local feel with the mismatch decor, super friendly staff and quick service. The food was really good although the mashed potatoes tasted a little generic but everything else was right on spot, even down to the crinkle fries. Our drinks were never empty and the portions are huge. The prices were actually a little cheaper then expected so that's always a plus ! We'd recommend eating here since the menu has somethings for everyone and we had a great experience. read more

This is one of my favorite comfort food spots in town, but this location especially. The folks who work there are so kind to my wife and I. The hostess at the front always greets me with a cordial smile, I can even tell through her mask. The food is great always. You can order anything on the menu and 99% of the time it will be great. The only complaint is that one of the young hostesses seated my wife and I right by a window so we had to eat with sunglasses on. Another complaint is I got a splinter when I sat on one of the chairs. I really like the toy bin they have I would've let my grand son play in it but I'm sure it is a COVID trough right now. I've been eating at Ramsey's Harrodsburg Road since they opened. At least once a week either eat-in or take-out. Has always been a good experience....food and service alike (because of Severin who is amazing). I don't know what's going on with them lately, but it is not the same in-dine/out experience. Tables/bar left unclean and dirty dishes just sitting there. My Take-out experience tonight was the worst. Simple order Meal + 3 sides and Buffalo Chicken Salad w/Blue Cheese Dressing. No issue with the Meal...unfortunately for me and they didn't provide the Blue Cheese dressing for the salad and I didn't have any dressing at home. Can't stand a dry salad. And with this particular salad the Blue Cheese dressing is THE sidekick to the buffalo chicken. Called back to Ramsey's and the girl who answered was bland and offered no recourse. Two bites of a dry salad...ugh! Into the trash. And you all know their salads are not cheap. Rob....you need to tighten up your team. Truly disappointed! read more

This place is great! But how can you decide between the HUMONGOUS breakfast, the hot brown, or the Cajun fried catfish? The breakfast comes with enough food for the entire table, but sadly, there is no sharing allowed. The patio is covered so that you can sit rain or shine, and it even has its own weather station. Ummm, WOW! Absolutely THE best Buffalo chicken sandwich I've ever had and I get there everywhere I go. No one compares to Ramsey's. The sauce was perfectly spiced, perfectly portioned, the chicken was juicy, tender and breaded to perfection. The bun was soft and flavorful. It was HUGE, and plenty of food. I can't decide if I want to get the chicken by itself next time or just like I did this time on a sandwich with all the fixin's. Totally impressed. Service was great too. I had a little higher expectations from this place. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich with a side of fries. Although the chicken was delicious, I did find the sandwich overall an it dry and needed some kind of sauce to come along with it. I've gotta mention they do have some amazing Missy's pie that I definitely recommend to anyone to stop by and try a slice! We dine at the Harrodsburg Road Ramsey's on occasion and are usually satisfied. Sometimes the chicken on my chef salad is a little over cooked or undercooked (the batter is mushy) but, until yesterday, I've never considered a review. Because my food was terrible. The server never smiled or engaged until tip time. No butter with my corn on the cob. The worst though was the fried bologna sandwich. The bologna was actually black on the inside. Requested mustard, no mustard. The toast was obviously grilled on a surface already a bit burned. The bologna was the worst, though. My husband's food was fine. A salad. Which is why I gave it two stars instead of one. Also, I understand the atmosphere is down home and the waitresses are dressed as such. Last night, some of them looked like they crawled into clothes from the night before. Definitely going downhill. read more

I only get to visit this place about twice a year when I visit my extended family on Lexington. It is always one of the highlights of our trip and has become a tradition in recent years. I love this location and the history is carries as a little gasoline station. The venue is nicely decorated with photos and memorabilia. The mismatched chairs and tables really set this place apart! This location always seems packed and very boisterous! It's a great family restaurant that's a lot of fun! I always pick from the meat plus three menu. Lately, I've been getting the pot roast with my choice of three sides: mashed potatoes no gravy (the gravy is a heavy beef gravy ... not really my thing), green beans and the seasonal corn (fried corn in the summer; creamed corn in the winter). My favorite time to come is in the late summer during their corn fest. The fried corn is probably my favorite thing on the menu! My family has had a lot of great memories here! read more

Checked out Fat Tuesday at Ramsey's last night. The place was on an hour wait, but the atmosphere and fun happening all around made it worth the wait! Enjoyied two glasses of Pino Grigio and that made the wait lots shorter. The craw-fish were wonderful and the service with the specials just amazing. The wait staff was pushed to the limit, but they ran around cheerfully and made the whole festive occasion a blast! The beans and rice are a little runny and the chicken soup was flavor lacking, but having the hot sauce on the table made things just delish! Perhaps next year they can do some peel and eat shrimp for my friends that do not to the craw-fish! I'll be back with my beads and friends. read more

My third Ramsey's in Lexington....gotta say it's all te locals say it is. Very crowded Friday night, but was seated pretty quick. All staff were very friendly, my server, Lucy made the visit special, she suggested some tomato slices while I waited for my meal... a great idea...they were extremely fresh. I had the southern catfish, this was a first for me, it was lightly breaded, cooked perfectly and complimented the delicious vegetables. We had my mother's birthday party there recently. We had 2 dozen people, 8 of which were small children. They were great to us and everything went very smoothly. We brought our own cake, which they were able to store in the cooler and then serve it when it was time. It was a wonderful experience and I'm so happy we had her party there! BTW, this is one of the few restaurants around that actually has a separate room to hold a party such as this. It worked out great that this is also my Mom's favorite restaurant! They buy a lot of local produce and cook it in yummy down home ways. I recommend Ramsey's for many reasons! read more

This is Kentucky comfort food! I love to come since it is right down the street from where I grew up. The building is very cool and old. I remember when it was a general store. They have pictures that take me back to that time. The food is good old fashioned Ky. Never have I ordered something I did not like. Favorites are the yogurt chicken, country fried pork chops! Service was horrible, staff was rude and while I was waiting at the bar I noticed the servers (to the side/back) preparing salads and were using their bare hands to scoop up the lettuce, etc. I will pass on getting a side of hepatitis with that salad. Horrible experience! Came from Cincinnati to attend a birthday dinner and was very disappointed overall. Not only were we crammed into a small party room in the very back of the establishment, that was NOT set up properly for a large group of people (..oh I forgot to mention that we had to wait an HOUR to be seated, even though we had reservations) but we were also informed by a young man, who clearly has no business in the restaurant industry, that our party was not allowed to order any alcoholic beverages because they are a "family restaurant" and their policy is six alcoholic drinks per guest. Some of the guests at the table had driven hours to be there for this special occasion and could not even have a celebratory beer!! Other guests had maybe 1 drink while waiting for an HOUR for our reservation to be honored.. I'm so glad that our entire group decided to get up and move the party to a better venue. HUGE FAIL..I work in the restaurant industry and have for years. I can honestly say that I have never had such a bad experience in a group dining experience. We went to dinner elsewhere and wanted pie for dessert about 9 pm. We love the Ramseys on NIcholasville road and figured why not. We also love Missys pies. But this location needs serious help. We were not greeted for a few minutes, then when we were greeted it was brusk and impatient. Then we were seated between 2 very large parties and there were empty tables on the other side if the building when we looked. The floor had food all over it and since we knew what we wanted she took our order when we sat down. The silver was dirty and we got new from the bar because the server never came back. We recieved the check when she put the pie down. We never recieved a how is it or drink refills. The pies were old and soggy and we did not even finish them. We looked around for help and all the servers and manager were playing around beside the bar. NOT paying attention to any of the tables. A couple of them were doing thier closing duties with out much attention to the silver as they went. We left the cash on the table for the bill and left. NOT to return to this location. read more

They refused to serve a group of 25 largely sober birthday party goers any drinks because of a customer noise complaint when we had to walk through the restaurant to the back room. The manager said it was a "family restaurant". We had reservations for the group and we were seated almost an hour past the reservation on top of all this.
