Came after going to the park with my kiddos, and the waiter was patient as we had to sit where my kids wouldn't fuss. So we moved tables like twice (sorry!) but our server was patient & kind & got our drink order in right away. I ordered the trio or something but it was so good. Had chile relleno, a tamale, and taco I think with rice & beans. My fave is the little bit of sweet corn they add on the plate, it's just so delicious. I keep giving this place a try... and it keeps failing for various reasons. Reservations were made and not available upon arrival, loud music out on the patio and several tables asked for it to be turned down but never was, expensive to eat and no menu options during the brunch timeframe, the list goes on. But our last straw was during our last visit. We had one person in our party that was drinking way to much and way too fast. We asked the server and also the bartender to please not serve her any more drinks. Yet they kept on serving. This person was passing out drinks to others on their tab right in front of the bartender... and we had already asked at least twice to please stop serving to them. The rest of our party had already left but we stayed for about an hour and a half trying to get things straightened out. We drove the person home but will never be back. Service is pretty good here normally, not great but fairly decent. Along the same lines as our story above... if your party isn't drinking during the brunch buffet, don't expect great service, they cater to the drinkers. Alcohol comes WAY before food service and the more you drink the better the service and attitude. Two times while dining here, we have had to correct our bill, charged for things that weren't ours or incorrectly. Ridiculous. We've had several meet ups with friends and/or family here in the past but each time it was not our call... and from now on we will just pass, it never gets better, just keeps getting worse. We came here for my nephews Birthday only to be disappointed by all three phases of the experience. Food: We ordered drinks but they all did not come out at once. The little ones in our group never got them and when they finally did it was pure soda water no flavor. When it came time to order we were told there were no carnitas. I ordered a Chile Relleno and then the waiter comes back a few minutes later to say they dont have Chile Relleno??? This is El Torito how is this possible? Ok fine so I decide to substitute chicken flautas for the Chile Relleno in my Combo plate and when I get my food only a plate of 6 flautas (3 flautas cut in half) come out . I was furious but it was my nephews birthday. Do better El Torito. You also had a mess in one of your toilets that was disgusting to look at before or after a meal. I was given an El Torito gift card last year and I had forgotten all about it. I decided to use it for lunch. I didn't know how much value was on the card but I decided to use it anyway to offset the cost of my meal. When I arrived, I was greeted immediately by a server at the restaurant who was taking other customers to their seats. She said she would be right with me after she seats the couple. However, the manager came and helped me. I ordered my food to go. I ordered a grilled chicken taco salad, extra chips and salsa and aguas de jamaica. The entire order was around $33 and my gift card took off $25 so I only had to pay $8. The restaurant is very big. There is a large dining area and a large bar area too. The kitchen looks to be an open concept. Overall, the service was excellent and the food was fresh and very good. I think El Torito is excellent food for the price point. The portions are huge. This has to be the worst run El Torino ever. The service never checks on you once you order. Then we get up to get more tacos and they clear our table. WTF!!!???!!! They took our margarita that still had some left and cleared the table. We got back and had to ask for silverware that finally I had to walk up to the bar to get. I would never recommend a poorly run place like this. Never offered to replace the drink that they took. Even if there is a small amount left we paid for that. What a joke. I decided to check out the buffet to see if I was interested in the price point. Left my phone to save my spot at the bar. I've done this all over town.... I was gone 60-120 seconds. Came back and my phone was gone! The buffet was not worth $40, but to my surprise another patron next to my seat was cupping my iPhone, or palming it under her hand. I asked the bartender where's my phone, he looked an me like I was crazy. I then looked at the patron with a face full of food and she/he looked at me like who me? After I called them out she/he shoved it at me as if I was crazy... unbelievable. I declined the$40 buffet and walked out. I was so pissed I came back to take her/his pic and the bartender started to protect his regular thief... whuaat? This is a total scam at this joint! Usually we go to the Lakewood or Long Beach El Torito, and both of those have been missing the mark in recent years. We decided to come in to the Yorba Linda location for lunch and I'm so glad I did. We were seated pretty much immediately when we arrived and greeted by our server Rosa with chips and salsa. Rosa was quick to offer menu suggestions and provided friendly and attentive service throughout our entire meal. This was definitely some of the best service I've received in a very long time.
