    Small chicken Tikka pizza
    Sho R.

This is what Hartford downtown needed. A reasonably priced place for lunch. There were tables and seats like a regular restaurant. What caught my attention in the menu was the chicken tikka pizza and paneer tikka pizza. Tikka is an Indian dish. I went for the chicken tikka pizza. I loved it. It had a ton of ginger in it, plus the pepper was kind of hot. Towards the end, I could feel the heat in my lips. If you are not used to eating spicy food skip this, otherwise you will enjoy it. Crab cake was good as well. I found the items in the menu were relatively cheaper than other places, which is a big plus.

This is my third time here and I can honestly say I'm going to keep coming back. Definitely a new hot spot! The service here is impeccable, the cashier with the purple hair (sorry don't know her name) is awesome. She has a lot on her plate (taking care of tables, bar and cashier) but she gets it done. Come check this place out! You won't regret it! Ps. Try the wings !

Buffalo Chicken Pizza ... it has no sauce even under the cheese. The chicken was dry and the cheese was too thick.

Don't waste your time going here!!! Would give this place 0 stars if I could. I placed my order & paid before a rush of people for lunch. I decided on a slice of buffalo chicken pizza and curly fries. The cashier is really careless. I waited 20 minutes for the cashier to ask me again what I ordered. Turns out he gave someone else my order even though I put in my order first. So he asked me again what my order was and I told him. I got my food to go. When I left, I opened the box to see a dry slice of pizza with no sauce at all. The curly fries weren't even curly. Thank you for messing up my order and wasting my time!

The Slice Mob rolled into Hartford Pizza Garden's new location today, and we were not disappointed…read more First things first, plenty of parking. That's already a win in Hartford. Walking inside, the vibe is cool, relaxed, and full of pizza nostalgia. There are nods to Hartford pizza history throughout the space, but what really catches your eye are the hydroponic gardens suspended above the dining room. Fresh basil is growing right over your head and eventually finds its way onto the pizzas. That's a pretty neat touch. The best way I can describe Hartford Pizza Garden is this: it's like the Town Green in Pizza Heaven. They've got New Haven-style, Grandma, and Detroit pizza all under one roof. I started with the New Haven red pie. Nice crunch, plenty of flavor, and a beautiful bake underneath. The sauce is bright, bold, and tomato-forward with Parmigiano and fresh basil added after the bake. The sauce isn't over-seasoned, allowing the tomatoes to take center stage and do what they do best. Next up was the Grandma pie. Thicker than the New Haven pie and built upside-down style. The sauce and cheese complement each other perfectly. The crust was soft and pillowy with a crunchy underside that kept me reaching for another slice. Then came the Detroit. The thickest of the three with a beautiful open crumb. Soft, tender, and sturdy enough to support all the toppings. Same excellent sauce, loaded with cup-and-char pepperoni. The crispy pepperoni adds great texture against the soft base. And that frico along the edge? Yes please. The fried cheese crust paired perfectly with the pepperoni and added another layer of crunch and flavor. A couple of other customer favorites are the Taco Pizza and the Shepherd's Pie Pizza. Unfortunately, I ran out of room before I could tackle those. There are limits to my talent. If you're looking for a spot that offers three distinct pizza styles, a fun atmosphere, and some serious attention to detail, Hartford Pizza Garden is worth a visit. The Slice Mob will definitely be back.

Happy hours 3:30-6 M-F To start I got the red sangria ($7 during HH) which was okay however it had a hint of ginger which I personally did not like . So then I tried the white sangria and that was very good . For happy hour they offer an option of different sliders ( 1 for $6 for HH) I tried the chicken slider which was amazing highly recommend my friends loved the caprese and the regular beef sliders all were amazing can't go wrong . I personally don't recommend the HH pizza it's just too small I recommend just getting the regular size honestly . The chips for happy hour are great for sharing they give you plenty for just $3 ! Overall great time , good service ( though it did take a little while to get our food ) , great atmosphere ( and on weekend they do have a Dj at night which is fun )

The crust is tough and crunchy with delicious charred flavor from the high heat firing. We tried their tomato pie with mozzarella which I quite liked. It was on the blander side but with the oregano and garlic, was quite palatable. We also got their famous clam pie but we were not terribly impressed. To me it almost tastes like a clam pasta on a pizza. It's basically just what the name implies. I wouldn't go out of my way to get it again but the tomato pie was great. Our service was stellar. The people checked on us frequently and got us all the drinks we wanted. They helped us pack the pizza in foils so we could out the leftovers in our hotel fridge. A word of warning! The pizza is huge!

Not…read moreclams, not cheese, not crust--just the allium family's most fart-prone, overhyped stepchild. I may or may not be contemplating a couple of Tums. I'm conflicted on this 2/5 rating since I wish there was a 2.5/5 option here. There are some promising things about Frank Pepe's: a coal-fired oven, photos of the same white clam pizza I ordered that look more like pizzas I had in Italy than the one I got, and other options for toppings that might work out better. Perhaps asking for light garlic and maybe the addition of the calabrian chilies from the seasonal special pizza (or pickled jalapeños, if available) would've fixed the balance (and topping palatability) of this pizza. A different pizza also may be substantially tastier, but goshdarnit, we're close enough to the ocean that I'd like to think the white clam is a slam-dunk. It's even listed in neon in the window! As ordered, unchanged, off the menu, though, I feel like I need to leave this state for a pizza just to feel something. Connecticut calling itself "the pizza state" has thus far been a lie; a cruel joke wherein a few outstanding outliers try to gloss over the fact that most of the state's pizza is mid-to-bad. "Mystic Pizza" being one of the state's most famous audiovisual exports sort of fits given that the availability of standout pizza here appears to be a mystical unicorn I've yet to find after moving here last year. Pepe's gets serious props for using large chunks of clams that don't look like the typical, uniformly cut, restaurant-supply-can chunks, but they were a bit rubbery and almost completely drowned out by the amount of garlic. It's like they were cooked too long, and the moisture from the clams evaporated accordingly. The crust had a little crunch to it as well, but lacked the crispy bubbles and heavier charred spots I expect from this style of pizza and from the assorted menu photos. Either go foldable or go harder on the fire--anywhere in between lands in disappointment territory. Commit to a bit. $8 a pint is a bit much for basic beer selections like Sam Adams and Peroni, too, but that's sort of my least concern. We live in Hell where everything is expensive lately, and at least beer prices haven't shot up as badly as gas prices. I probably should've ordered the sangria in hindsight. White peach? Here for it. Also, the staff was friendly, and service was prompt. I really should give it a second chance with a more traditional tomato-sauce pizza, or maybe a margherita. If you go, expect it to fall short of the hype unless whoever made the nicely bubbly white clam pie in the photos posted here is manning the oven. Unless you like garlic as much as I like cheese, consider asking to go light on the garlic for a better-balanced pizza if you order this one.
