4 stars when your missing an affordable old fashion donut place with the common variety. Nothing wrong with the $6 vegan donuts around the corner, but sometimes it's good to just get your hands on an unhealthy non-luxury other than dunkin donut. Unfortunately my favorite (cinnamon roll donut) isn't even close to the best here. Always way over cooked/fried. Everything is is pretty good. Parking is on location in lot so a quick in and out. Okay well I stopped by my old coffee shop which I found out became a Randy's Donut shop. I was briefly miffed but then ah what the hell life is all about change and reinvention. It's crazy how plentiful good LA donut shops are. Great donuts and crazy weird people here is an LA specialty. I've been called crazy and weird many times so I am well aware of my weirdo-ness so I fit right in. Now Randy's is an old LA donut shop that creates its own truly excellent donuts from scratch. I used to hit up the original that was on LaCienega Blvd for years. This store in SM is exceptionally good. The donuts are to kill for, not die for but to kill for. Many choices from standard to unique and specialty. The patio is an excellent place to hang and enjoy this shop. A huge part of this store is how so great is the staff. Really excellent kids. They are so personable and we laughed the whole time there. Wonderful customer service so sincere thanks n their approach to customers. As for the apple fritter I had it was one of the best ever, really. That poor thing didn't stand a chance and it screamed bloody murder crying for mercy when I moved in on it. Randy's is finally open in Santa Monica. I have been waiting for this day because my family and I are doughnutaholics. We visit Randy's in Inglewood all the time but we are happy to see them open on Santa Monica as well. We went to the line this morning to of course get our free opening day doughnuts. Randy's never disappoint. Now the only problem was, we ordered a couple extra doughnut and never got them. I wanted to treat our staff at Good Shepherd Healthcare Center to some yummy donuts as an early Christmas gift, and of course Randy's hit the spot! This was my first time at this location, and the only other one I've been to is in Pasadena. There is a parking lot and a staff member cleaning it too. The wait wasn't too long for me and it was easy to choose the donuts I wanted. The guy at the front was by himself, he wasn't super friendly, but it didn't bother me. I think I ordered about 16 classic donuts and it came out to about $26-27. It was worth it, the donuts are delicious. I love the class maple, it was nice and soft. I'll most likely come here again. I'm not a fan of Dunkin, which is closer to my workplace, so thank goodness for this opening up! read more

Well priced and a great selection - I don't like when donut places only do the weird/ speciality ones without the classics but Randy's has it all :) Staff is very friendly and efficient - but please people, when you start to order here please start your order with the number of total donuts you will be ordering so the staff knows what box size to grab!!! Doughnuts are ok. I normally just get the chocolate/chocolate old fashioned. It's one of the better doughnuts. I do understand the other reviews as sometime a batch should be thrown out because they're dripping in oil and burnt. Too most it would be common sense to make another batch and not sell a batch that leaves an oil stain bigger than a Chevy truck makes. The reason for the three stars, is they like to play up their coffee. Honestly their coffee is horrid. It doesn't matter which one you get they're all taste the same, bitter water. I ordered a mocha. Has to throw it away. Butter hot water. Now if I go I just get the one doughnut and use the Starbucks app to order my coffee. Because that's what I do, I'm a problem solver. Do yourself a favor. Try drinking the coffee you sell because it's atrocious. read more

I live down the street from the Inglewood randy donuts so I was happy to see one right by my job. the staff is great but they never open on time . I LOVE the original Randy's Donuts and would always find an excuse to drive over to the area for their donuts, so I was stoked to see a Randy's opening up in Santa Monica because I think their glazed raised donuts are hard to beat, especially when fresh, because it's got a slight crunch on the outside and it's perfectly chewy on the inside. So naturally, I visited opening week and ordered 3 donuts to share. They were all considerably smaller than the same ones you get at the original location, and I think they might even cost more at this location as well which I get... but the most important thing is that they were not the same quality as the original location. The birthday cake flavor was bland yet sugary and the icing was super messy and mostly ended up inside the bag. The plain raised was small and didn't taste fresh. The butter crumb was okay but it seemed to absorb the flavor of some other flavors. A super disappointing trip, but maybe they just need to get things together... will try again but stick to the raised plain or chocolate. read more
