I love Randy's donuts! I make the hike out to Inglewood at least once a week to get their donuts. Having them so close to my home is extremely dangerous..especially to my waistline. I bought two donuts this morning and got the free glazed donut, but they forgot one of the ones that I purchased. I spoke with Kendal and she told me to just come on down and they would get me a new one. They were very apologetic and the donuts taste as good, if not better than the Original Randy's location. Nonetheless, I'm super excited to see them open nearby and I'm pretty sure I'll be a regular there soon. read more

I'm a doughnut lover and was happy to see Randy's make it to SM. The spot doesn't seem to be very busy. They have a lot of flavor options. My only concern is that it seems like the doughnuts sit for a long time before being served so they are mostly cold. Seems stale as well. Maybe it's better to visit them in the morning so I can get the fresh stuff. Not really sure. As a doughnut lover, I don't recommend it as it just tastes like an overpriced market doughnut. read more

Tried Randy's for the first time yesterday. Both the chocolate raised doughnuts and cinnamon roll we bought were inedible. Both the top and bottoms were overcooked to the point of being brown, oily messes. After a few bites, the entire box went in the trash. I have never had a worse doughnut that wasn't from a grocery store. There are multiple other great donut places in SM. Pick any of them and steer clear of this mess. read more

Good donuts, in line with the Inglewood location. I like having a Randy's nearby. I'm happy to pay a little more here because rent is obviously much higher in Santa Monica than Inglewood, and it has been for a long time. The hours are convenient too. There was music coming from the back room. But it was hardly loud, and it caused absolutely no problems for us. Because there is no seating inside the store anyway, the music shouldn't be a problem for most normal people. Friendly service. I also appreciate what I read on here about management having prohibited someone from buying items for a panhandler who was soliciting patrons outside the door, to avoid encouraging that activity on the premises. There were no panhandlers at the location when I visited, which further added to the enjoyment of our visit and our feelings of safety. read more

First of all, the staff and service at this location are great! It's a cute store with a small parking lot. The donuts...sadly, not great. Ordered an assorted dozen of the classic and fancy. They just don't taste fresh...some like the buttermilks were dry, the classic powdered and the glazed tasted like old oil. While the donuts look tasty...they just weren't. Getting donuts delivered is no way to rate a donut shop. In store, I have found the donuts fresh with great variety. The devil's food was particularly good, and the apple fritter was not only perfect but large enough that it took three sittings to finish it. People who complain about their version of cronuts should admit that no cronuts are any good. They are like putting coffee in Rice Krispies: Alone, each is sublime, together they are weird and pretty awful. As to DK's, the donuts are fine, but overrated. They do have small apple fritters which are a bonus. One last thing, the entry/exit doors should be reversed or rehinged. Now, entering into the store disturbs the line and makes for awkwardness in these Covid-sensitive days. read more

The Wilshire/S Monica location is about a year old. They still do not have the colossal donut or should I say the son of the LAX location giant donut, an LA icon. This, the newest in cluster of locations is serving up the same fare as the others, I am sure. For me, I do not like the high sugar glazed, powdered or sugary toppings. I'm not diabetic. Just don't like lacquered on sugar coatings That is why only 2 stars. I can only eat the crullers and mini donuts sans the sugar. My sense it that the pastry itself is all the same but the baking time maybe different, rendering softer or harder goods; hence, not much in the way of variation. This morning we ordered... 2 Ham & Cheese Croissant 2 Glazed Raised Donut 2 Chocolate Raised Donut 1 Glazed Buttermilk Donut 1 Chocolate Buttermilk Donut 1 Chocolate Crondy Donut 1 Glazed Crondy Donut 2 Raspberry Jelly Filled Donut ...because we noticed that they are now, after several weeks, taking delivery orders. We should have saved our money. I could easily have had MUCH BETTER donuts at any local Ralph's or Von's. Randy's (in Santa Monica) is selling sub-standard grocery store donuts. And I am disappointed. The Ham & Cheese Croissants were SO weird. And they arrived stone-cold or refrigerated. And when I put them in the microwave they puffed up in a way that appeared to finally make them fully cooked...odd, when all other Ham & Cheese croissants arrive here already fully cooked. (Have you had them at Milo + Olive? Why not? There, they are Great!!) The Buttermilk were, also, not properly cooked (especially in the middle where they were not cooked at all) and lacked any real flavor or texture or interest. The Raised were OK, but only OK, raised is always pretty good anyway, right? The Crondys were so strange = flat, oily, and seemed old...as if they had been made yesterday...or earlier. The best was the Raspberry Jelly Filled and that seems to be the best donut they make. If you have to buy donuts here, AND YOU DO NOT!, then choose the Raspberry Jelly Filled Donuts and perhaps a Chocolate-coated or two, and call it a day. Their chocolate coating is okay, thick and chocolatey and better than average...so you might enjoy their chocolate-coated ones as well. (Psssst...just a couple of blocks away are far superior (gourmet!) donuts at Sidecar (the BEST donuts in Santa Monica) and DK is just a few blocks away - although I cannot recommend DK's breakfast croissants or bagel sandwiches - they are not well-made. But DK's Cro-nuts (they can't call them that!) are especially wonderful and their Buttermilk or Old-Fashioned are Superb and Light and Beautiful and their Maple Bacon is so Delicious. Donuts here are fine in my opinion, I've always ordered one of their classic donuts and they always tasted good. 3 stars are because of a poor quality of americano preparation and inferior service today. I ordered an iced large americano easy on ice, a guy took my order but, instead of proceeding to make coffee, he took a phone call and was on the phone with someone for about 5 min. There was no one else making coffee which I didn't realize 4 min into the phone call as it was taking a long time to get the coffee. He then prepared a medium coffee instead of a large. The size of the coffee didn't matter because it was watery and felt like it didn't include a full shot of espresso. Had to throw it away shortly thereafter. read more

This will be my go-to for a plain raised donut. Tried the Nutella - it was gummy and sticky. Weird. Toasted coconut was fine. Coffee is pretty basic but much better than Sidecar down the street (but not as good as Philz). Staff is fantastic, they're super nice (tip them!). read more

This review is not a reflection on the quality of the donuts, because those are amazing. Instead I want to review the manager at this particular location. Like I said, the donuts are so tasty and I highly recommend them. However, I have a hard time coming back to this location now because of how horrible the manager is. I was walking in and a man outside asked me very kindly if I could buy him a hot coffee (it was a cold day). I never decline anyone food so I said of course and walked inside. When I tried ordering the coffee the manager said he couldn't serve it to me because it was for the man outside. I asked why and he said "the more we offer those kinds of people food, the more they will beg. They'll never learn and it's bad for our business. We need to get them out of their bad habits". I was really disgusted by his response and by the fact he was talking about the man like he was a dog or something? I told the manager the coffee was actually for me and he still refused to serve it to me. I ended up leaving in tears and had to explain to the man that I wasn't allowed to buy him a coffee. The man was so kind and not bothering anyone and was very understanding. Unfortunately, I think a bad review is more likely to hurt the business than me buying a coffee for someone outside. I've been a long time Randy's customer, long before they franchise and long before the Santa Monica location. However, I live in Santa Monica and I have children so on occasions I will make a stop at this location even though I prefer the Inglewood location for multiple reasons. It seems every time I come in I leave unhappy my most recent visit I stopped in to place an order in person for four dozen donut holes. My order was for one dozen chocolate, one dozen glazed, one dozen chocolate sprinkles, and one dozen strawberry sprinkles. I prepaid and when I arrived the follow day at the time I indicated my order wasn't ready. The same person who took my order was the same person that was there when I picked up he seems to be the manager or some sort of supervisor because he's there almost every time I come he has zero customer service skills. Not only was the order not ready they didn't even have what I ordered and he refused to refund me for the dozen that was incorrect. The donuts aren't fresh either. They make them once a day in the morning. Save yourself a headache and old donuts and just go to the original Inglewood location. read more

The servers do not change their gloves after they come in contact with money. I came in this morning asked for a croissant and coffee the girl looks at me and asks "just one?" , that's what o asked for. I thought she was going to change her gloves since she just had ringed up the previous customer. Nope she didn't , got the croissant with no utensils, just with those same gloves. I had to cancel my order. This is unsanitary specially with covid going on. Not only that money has a lot of germs. She needs to review and retake her food handlers exam once again, she lacks common sense. read more

They have great tasting donuts and are always quick. I order online ahead of time which is a convenient feature/service and makes it easier to coordinate before heading into work. My staff loves them and we always order deluxe style donuts, which can come in a bakers dozen. Try it slightly warmed up and it's heaven! Only with glazed types avoid warming up sprinkles or cereal donuts. read more
