I stopped in the Rapscallion while waiting for my son to get off work and what a find!! Small local pub unassuming but what an amazing local pub! The atmosphere was old school, the kind of place you meet your friends and have a good laughs over some amazing local microbrews and great food. I had some smoked wings and they were perhaps the best wings I have ever had! A must try. The pretzels are fresh and so good. Service was excellent and its really a place everybody will know your name. I can go on but to cut it short. I recommend Rapscallions for great comfort food and a very cozy environment. I really wanted to love the place - the people are incredibly lovely, caring, happy to be there, happy to serve you! But the food, which was ok, didn't stand up to what we were hoping for. My husband reports the beer left him sadly disappointed, lacking hops and personality. The Poutine - was the driver for us to visit... WAY WAY WAAAAYYYYY too greasy - sure, we ordered the short rib poutine (not very much of the curds or meat) but the fries were floating in so much grease, it was hard to eat (Ok, so the husband didn't flinch and went passed the oily and flabby fries on the bottom, down the hatch!. The grits were dry and lumpy - great flavor but not great texture (and I am a fan of the coarse grit situation!). Good flavor, just off-putting texture Lastly, the salmon tacos - were plump and full, those were good, and the beet salad was really good as were the wings. Overall, not bad, but wish it had been a bit better. Its and old building, so its extremely noisy. The people are lovely - all the servers, the hostess, bar staff - 5 star all around. But the food, not so good. I'm happy to hear that a fellow yelper from VA enjoyed the experience! We love it when people come to visit. I, however, can't find it to trekk from Hudson back. Work brought me to Boston recently. It was recommended to give Rapscallion a go. It doesn't look like much when you arrive but it's such a neat little hole in the wall. Our table shared an order of the fried brussels and smoked wings. Brussels were very tasty, crispy fried and accompanied with some pickled cranberry aioli for dipping. The applewood-smoked wings were everything you would want in a chicken wing-- crunchy with the wood flavor dancing on your taste buds. Known for their hand-brewed beer offerings, I had to wash it all down with their Honey brew, carefully crafted with local wildflower honey. Very tasty. With a wide range of variety to choose from on the menu, I opted for the mustard glazed salmon. Sad to say the evening ended on a mediocre note. The garlic and herb roasted fingerling potatoes lacked inspiration and seasoning. The salmon was cooked slightly over. The most disappointing part was the description.. mustard glazed and seared salmon. Unfortunately it was plated with little- to-no sear, no crust and "mustard glaze" was essentially whole grain mustard plopped onto the filet. Just a really flat dish. My group enjoyed the evening. Just had a delightful lunch with my friend at Rapscallion Table & Tap. Neither one of us had been there before and I am so glad we decided to meet there. We both had the Butternut Squash & Beet Salad with Salmon. We got the half portion & it was just the right size. The piece of salmon was very generous and cooked perfectly. Melissa got a Clean Bloody Mary which she enjoyed. I chose their New England IPA which was very tasty. ALL of the employees were friendly and helpful. We were not rushed at all. The restaurant is in a very old building that is very cozy with a lot of character. There is seating at the bar, high tables in the bar area and regular tables and chairs. There is also a patio for outdoor dining in warmer weather. The restroom was spotless. There is plenty of parking in their private lot. I recommend Rapscallion's without hesitation and look forward to returning. read more

Who has been keeping this place a secret? Really good beer highlighted by the signature honey beer with highlights of floral accents. Great coffee stout. The highlight is the food. Wood smoked wings. This place is good for some apps and beer! I've come here a couple of times and the service is fantastic. Last time, I ordered a Rapscallion burger with cheddar, egg, bacon, mushroom, caramelized onion and Rapscallion sauce on a potato roll. It was a solid burger, egg was a little too cooked but I didn't mind. The pretzel is awesome. When it's nice outside, try to sit outside by their fire pit, it's great to relax and have a beer watching the cars go by. read more

It is a nice place for lunch. Food was decent and we had raps smoked wings (excellent), Bolognese (good) and Penne a la Vodka (good). They also have very good draft beers. People are extremely friendly. We came in right after their opening. It was getting crowded pretty soon. read more

Great service, but the food isn't nearly as good as it used to be the first couple of years they were open. One medium-rare burger had no hint of pink, the other was mostly pink. Truffle fries and onions rings were overly "well done" and made me question how fresh they were. Parking almost certainly requires you'll need to park by Donelan's. It's only 1/4 mile, but still another hurdle to making Rapscallion an easy yes. My first few experiences at Rapscallion Acton were 4-5 stars. My last two were both 2.5 stars. Our experience at Rapscallion Concord has been much more consistent (and better) so we'll continue to go there, but I think this was our last trip to the Acton location. read more

This place was adorable. The atmosphere was cute. It's clearly a refurbished house turned restaurant and it's stunning. I went here kind of randomly with friends before we were making our way to go Apple Picking. We ordered the poutine for an appetizer and I got the salmon burger with sweet potato fries. I honestly forgot how much I loved all of those things. The poutine was solid (though I don't like mushrooms). The salmon burger was pretty good and those sweet potato fries were perfection. Everyone seemed to enjoy their meals and we had a great time. Our waitress was nice and I believe my friends who had hard cider / beer enjoyed it as well. Something kind of gross we did notice was one of the employees spraying a table behind us with some kind of cleaning spray and using the wrapped utensils in a cloth napkins to wipe the table down instead of a different towel. Made it a bit off putting, to be honest. For the most part, a pretty good experience and I would be down to come back here in the future, if I were ever in the area. read more

Oh the deception! Here I was thinking this was a little cabin in the woods. Behold, a massive restaurant in disguise! You would never be able to tell what lies on the other side as you approach from the main road. Ample dining area, and a beautiful outdoor courtyard. Rapscallion Table and tap features a mostly American pub style menu, but the tap is the claim to fame(it's in the name after all). You simply don't won't find many places with beer on tap in the surrounding area. And yes, it's their own beer from their own brewery, all locally brewed. Bison meatloaf: say whaaaat? I didn't know this was a thing...a very delicious thing. Served on a mini croissant, the meat is tender and juicy. I've had bison previously but this is 10x better. Easily the highlight of my day. The only thing that would have made this better is if it was offered in full form, forget the mini! Duck confit grilled cheese: this has all the makings of a beautiful fairytale. Duck, cheese, spinach, raspberry, on sourdough. The flavors marry perfectly together, but the bread pressed/grilled a little past doneness, which results in crust so crispy that you have to be careful not to tear the roof of your mouth. Still a lovely concept. Vol au vant: another potential concept that could have been lovely indeed. Lemon, berries, whipped cream on a puff pastry. Unfortunately the pastry itself was tough(stale), and the whipped cream a little overhanded. Rapscallion has an awesome microbrewing history, but I'm personally not a beer guy. I do love some of the menu concepts, but a few technical shortcomings put a damper on my food experience. Overall a pretty cool restaurant, especially during the warm weather months read more

Visited Rapscallion last night for a nice dinner. Atmosphere-Was seated in a room with three other tables. Other than being a tad chilly, the room was very noisy. Two tables had families with kids -2and 3. The kids were under 10 and talked the whole time. I felt like I was st preschool recess. Occasionally without warning a baby would let out an ear piercing scream. Luckily the two families left halfway through my meal. It ws still very loud after their departure Service-the host and the waitress(Melania) were very good and polite. A big positive an main reason for the 3 star rating. Food- the other two in my party had salmon(large serving) and tacos. Trey said the food was good. I had steak, salad and fries. The steak was OK. it was not grade A, but hard to cut my knife and chewy. Not melt in your mouth like butter. For $26 it should have been better. The fries were OK. I asked for extra crispy-they were not. The salad had a "painting" of creamy blue cheese. Not cool. Don't be cheap. I sampled beer- harvard lager, honey, white and a coffee stout. I settled for the honey, but all the beers (made in house) imho were subpar. They were all bitter, had an unidentified bad taste (1st sip, in mouth and aftertaste) and were not smooth. Not sure if they used bad hops for all beers or used a burnt pot. Anyway, the beer was not good. And they actually sell and promote the beer!! Overall, it was an ok experience at best. I won't go back soon. My advice to Rapscallion - drop your prices or better yet- increase your quality and get a new brewmaster. read more

We went here last Sunday, the service was, basically inept. The hostess clearly did not want to be there and the server seemed distracted. The re was flys all over the dining room, I'm not exaggerating, two literally landed on my boyfriend. The beer we tried tasted completely "off". They shut the air conditioner off halfway through our meal so we were both sweating and when we asked the server if we could pay asap because of it he said, "I should probably turn the ac back on." There's no other way to say this, but this place really is a douche magnet. Whereas I do enjoy the food and someone enjoy the beverages, I find the clientele to be insufferable and overbearing. I know this is slightly unfair does the restaurant cannot pick and choose its customers, but there is a slight error of acceptance to poorly established behaviors. I love the location at the base of strawberry hill and the venue is quite spectacular just know what you're getting yourself into. Service was great, clientele not. read more

Met a friend here for lunch - it was my first time eating here. Place is super cute inside - although they also have a really nice patio outside for when the weather is nice. Service was good. I had the black bean burger and it was one of the best I have had! It was hearty and so tasty! The menu seems to offer something for everyone!
