Whoa! This place exceeded my expectations, I mean, look at the place... it's a hole in the wall with amazing food, affordable prices, and fresh ingredients. I went with a Teriyaki Burger. I'm not a fan of "sweet burgers" so I knew it was a risk, but one I was willing to take and man oh man, i'm glad I did! DELICIOUS! It's your classic old school cheeseburger, not too greasy patty, with lettuce, tomato, onions, cheese (swiss?) the teriyaki sauce added just the right tanginess which was a surprise as it was not too sweet. And to top it all off the pineapple slice was perfect. I am not a fan of Teriyaki Burgers, but I am craving this one as I'm writing this review. Absolutely did a fantastic job on the beef bowl/plate the taste was wonderful. It was a bit pricey in terms of quantity but probably about right for the quality and freshness overall. I will eat here again, it's in the "cut" so to speak, there is metered street parking easy on/ easy off the freeway the wait isn't very long but worthwhile. We were looking for a pet friendly restaurant when we found Ray's. We all had burgers and fries, the food and service was excellent. Definitely would go back there again. Only drawback is there is no inside eating. There is seating for about 10 to 15 people outside. The day we went the weather was great, and we enjoyed the outside seating. I probably wouldn't plan on eating there if the weather was bad. Overall a great experience. read more

TOTALLY UNFAIR that Jane reviewed this first....but that's what I get for not going and finding out there address! So, this is one of my most favorite recommendations for a quick bite. Just a little shack on a side street that nobody knows about except for anyone who works or lives in that neighborhood. The secret to this place is the fact that they have tons of items ranging from Ham and Cheese Sandwiches to Korean style shredded beef (Bulgogi). But my personal favorite is the Philly Cheesesteak, if you can actually call it that. Now, really Philly people don't be offended. This isn't authentic AT ALL but its still one of the best sandwiches I have EVER had. They use the beef that you would typically get with a bowl of rice add onions and tons of gooey cheese....don't be afraid to ask for extra cheese and meat, it wont cost you that much. The bread is also buttered so as you can imagine, this shouldn't be eaten everyday unless you want to go into cardiac arrest. Burger: not too big, perfect size... about 3 oz meat, 1 slice of cheese, tomatos, lettuce, onions, thousand island, yum... fries: TOTES gross unless you add chili... which is straight up out of a can... making it all the more amazing. Other things i've had: 1. Club sandwich- DAMN good. Not Healthy. BUT DEFINITELY HEARTY. 2. Grilled Cheese- not worth it to walk there. you can drive. still bad for you... but approximately caloric intake of 2 meals. Essentially, if you're at court for that damn speeding ticket or if you work in the WEST LA area, stop over here for lunch. It rules. Oh! About the food ... I'm feeling a bit ambivalent. I've never had an "authentic" Philly cheese steak so I have no basis of comparison.
