He then runs a quick pressure test, the system was not holding pressure, I ask him what could be wrong and he goes oh it's probably a head gasket $2,500. I received no repairs from them, but the gentleman (Ray) who helped me figure my car situation was so helpful and willing to help at no cost. I came in because my car was shaking thinking maybe it just needed coolant. He quickly gave me the codes of what was wrong, gave me and estimate, but still suggested to call my warranty first and a tow truck. I did and I was still under warranty. He let me sit in my car in front of shop without any weird looks while I waited for tow truck. Helped flag tow trucks and sent me with good advice. I went to Ray's since I had a check engine light. Ray was very knowledgeable, within 2 minutes of looking under the hood, he found the issue (without looking an error codes). You can tell he has alot of experience with Benz's. The issue I had is somewhat rare, but since fixing these cars is all he does, he found it pretty fast. It was a super expensive fix, but I believe it was cheaper than doing at Ray's than the dealer. It took about a week to fix, but the car is running great, the engine light is gone, and he threw in a comp car wash from next door. They had a special for $260 for this service plus they had the car washed at the Car Wash right next door to them. They were able to schedule me the same day I called. Thank you Ray. Had another shop mis-diagnose a oil leak on my 14 CLS550 as a bad valve cover. Took it to rays, put the car up in the car and bam! Immediately he stated that it was the valve plugs and not the valve cover. He cleaned it up, resealed the oil pan and I haven't noticed or smelled a oil leak since. If I could give these guys 100 stars, I would in a heartbeat. After being quoted almost $15,000 for a repair at Downtown LA Motors on my 2011Mercedes GLK 350, I called these guys for an estimate after seeing their Yelp reviews. On the first phone call he said exactly what I had said when I first brought it to the Mercedes dealer -- "I find it really hard to believe that all of those things just happened to break at the exact same time". I had gone in for my brake light being on and I thought I just needed the oil changed, then they literally said that every part of breaking mechanism was faulty and that "I was lucky to be alive" -- a bit dramatic, but ok. The car was originally from New York so I understood some rust and corrosion was possible from the salt - but not to the point of everything needing to be replaced after I had just brought it in for a service the previous year and everything checked out fine. I had bought the car for $18,000 and to pay $15,00 in repairs would have been ridiculous. After my first call with Ray, I had the car towed to him and he got back to me within a few hours with a full breakdown and quote. He was laughing saying that all he needed to do was replace the brake lines (rust had created a hole so oil was leaking) and then everything would be working fine! Ended up having him replace the brake pads and rotors as well because if I wanted to give anyone my business, it would be him. Total invoice with 25 hours of labor came out to just over $3,000, I was in shock. I was on vacation at the time he said it was ready, so I asked him to go ahead and do an oil change as well and he gave it to me on the house and said he'd keep driving my car around before I returned to make sure that everything was working properly. As a female college student, to be taken care of so well and not completely ripped off is refreshing. Ray not only cares about the work he is doing but he is honest and genuinely cares about making his customers happy and satisfied and in this case going the extra mile to make sure everything was perfect. SO thankful for Ray and his team and lucky to have found such a great Mercedes certified mechanic in the area. read more
