Ray's Pizza always hits the spot! The staff is friendly and the service is fast. I ordered the lunch combo with a slice of pizza and a salad. The slice is HUGE and frankly I didn't even finish the pizza slice. The pizza has a great crust which keeps me coming back time and time again.

Pizza was amazing. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Place was a little empty, which seemed unsettling, and there was a lot of workers which made the place feel empty.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Pizza was kind of expensive and wouldn't recommend the gelato but it's a great experience if you want to eat some good pizza..

To start off, pizza is my favorite food in the whole world, and Ray's is the talk of our dental clinic at UTHSCA. They catered some pizza one night for a group, and the smell of it alone was enriching enough for us to want to come here. Came on a Tuesday night at 5:00PM with 24 people, and there was enough tables and chairs to hold us all. Small resturant, but still enough space for a big dinner with friends. Superrrrr casual inside, with a walk up check out. I love that this is pizza by the slice, allows everyone to order exactly what they want and not have to share with anyone either. Roughly $3-$5 per slice, and it's LARGE. Probably 2 normal slides in 1 of these. I split a medium between 3 people, and it was perfect. Only $14! The cheesecake on display looked beautiful and I wish I got one. I got Gelato instead, and wish I could dock half a star just for the price of this gelato. $5.40 for the tiniest scoop, but again i know ice cream/gelato anywhere is gonna run a higher price when you get it like this. Quick, easy place to stop in and eat!

I saw someone post a picture of their pizza on FB & had to try. First time here. Everything was good. The crust of the pizza os one of the best we have had. We tried the classic. It was good. Will definitely try another pizza next time. Loved the wings & ceasar. It is a step up from a hole in the wall. The staff was friendly. Overall good option for pizza & wings.

Staff is friendly, food is nothing to write home about.. I've seen many reviews about the workers being young and rude but I had a great experience. They were quick & friendly and I am just glad my experience was like that rather than some of these stories lol The mozzarella sticks were probably my favorite part. The meat lovers Stromboli was suuuuper greasy like I totally understand pepperoni and sausage have oil but underneath was like a pile of grease and it made my stomach a little uneasy. However, it was huge but the size doesn't really matter when you're not going to eat it anymore... The chicken parm was interesting. Not a cutlet but more like a chicken tender. We were wondering why all the oregano on top because it was a bit overkill -- My bf ate it but we had the same consensus that this sauce is what's lacking. It barely has any flavor unfortunately and it is in most of the dishes we tried.

My fav pizza place! This place has the best pizza for the best prices. (If I want expensive I'm going to Dough's) NY style, thin but very large slices and tastes delicious. Chicken bites are also great. The sandwiches are good (homemade bread ) and fries are great too Great seating area, can always bring a ton of friends. Food ALWAYS tastes great and service is good. Side note- these sell cheesecake slices for $6/ piece and they are delicious. Turtle is my fav. Not sure who bakes them and brings them in to sell in their cases but they are really good.

Hands down the BEST NY style pizza place. I order my slice well done all the time, I love that charred crust. I'm glad they offer the combo daily. Aside from the delicious food, there's the mediocre service. It reminds me of the same service and attitude you would get in NYC. I'm still coming back! Come check them out for yourself!

Came by to celebrate my moms birthday and wasn't disappointed. We ordered several salads, three pizzas, lasagna, and some Spaghetti . Everything was perfect! Pizza was tasty and hot and the salads were so crisp and fresh! I can't wait to go back!

I am so deeply disappointed in the food i received to night. I have been coming here for years and cannot believe the food this evening. Calzone is hard and thin. Wings were so greasy. The calzone was old and chewy. What happened!

I am VERY happy I ignored the yelp reviews and paid attention to the photos. When I first saw the photos I got my hopes up and guess what, Ray's did not disappoint! Is this pizza really 5/5 stars? No...it's more 4/5, BUT... considering there are slim pickings in San Antonio for AUTHENTIC NY Style pizza I just had to give Ray's a bump in rating for standing out. I gotta give credit where credit is due. Most of the bad reviews were geared toward the customer service. I didn't have a bad experience here. Just feed me. Fun fact: I learned that people in Texas are not used to the flavor of NY Style pizza dough. NY Style pizza dough is fermented in the fridge for 1-3 days. That process is what gives the pizza dough that yeasty/doughy flavor. It's a very distinct flavor and I've learned that some people don't like that flavor (sacrilegious lol). Hence lovers of Pizza Hut, Domino's, and Papa John's exist. Anyway...Ray's NAILED the dough flavor. It was there. The texture was spot on as well. I prefer a very tomatoey pizza sauce. The sauce here was good, not amazing, but for sure solid. Ray's is the most authentic NY Style Pizza I have had since living in SA. I've tried Yaghi's, Goomba's, 46th street, and Sapore's. I'd order a pie again from Ray's because it brought me back to the corner store pizzerias I grew up with. Very nostalgic. Very authentic. You want something close to NY Style pizza without being in NY? Head to Ray's. I still have a few more pizzeria's to try out, but right now Ray's takes the cake! Enjoy!

Every single dish I have had from here was a banger! Most recently I had the boneless wings with buffalo and fries. I would go so far as to say better than Wing stop. All my food was hot and fresh. I've also had the Pizza and Ravioli and both were good. I also appreciate their side salads come with assorted toppings, not just a plate of lettuce.

Wow oh Wow! So horrid day when so many things went wrong. I stopped in at Ray's on the way home, but still had stops along the way. It's great that they used the metal bowl with the cardboard top. It was easily almost an hour before I got to eat this dish...but still quite warm which you can't say for the foam to go containers. I was just bowled over with my first bite of penne sausage. I mean most places say authentic Italian but they are usually a pale imitation of the Italian I grew up on, East Coast, Jersey/ NY Italian. This packed a real WOW! If I closed my eyes I was back eating from a neighbor's Italian grandmother. The sauce, the sausage, the spices...OMG just perfection for me. Loved the bread but not as much as that dish. So why only a three? They gave me the wrong salad...a Caesar salad instead of the garden with blue cheese. The inside while very clean doesn't make me want to linger. The main dish was definitely a five. I also had a gelato which I enjoyed very much. Great selection of gelatos...sorry that photo didn't turn out. If I lived closer I'd be there a lot. So if to go is your game or you don't care about the furniture I highly recommend it. Very easy for handicapped...parking in front and door easy to enter.

First of all- the pizza was AMAZING. I love the taste of a pizza that has a slight char on the crust because you know it was cooked right. Skip the calamari. It was pretty gross. The mozzarella sticks were decent. What took my by surprise was the marinara! The marinara was delicious. The gelato was okay, I probably wouldn't order it again. I would definitely return for the pizza (and their delicious ranch to dip it in) but I probably wouldn't get any of the appetizers or gelato again.

Our orders came out pretty quickly all things considered, but this is one of those locations that doesn't have the fountain drink machine readily available to customers, so if we wanted refills we had to go to the counter so the staff could do it themselves which kinda sucked. The restaurant was decent in cleanliness, however the self-serve utensil station had sticky residue everywhere and the paper towel roll had fingerprints all over it. As for my meal, I shared a 15 piece for two which consisted of 7 Hawaiian Boneless Wings, 8 Hot Honey Rub Boneless Wings, 2 drinks, and regular Fries, with Bleu Cheese and Ranch. They weren't the best I've had from WingStop, tasting a little stale on the breading and just so-so on the sauce. The Fries aren't worth writing about, but we do wish we were given more Bleu Cheese. Wingstop has always made me feel ill afterwards no matter the location, so take this part with a grain of salt, but I figured I'd mention that I felt a little more sick than usual after this meal. I'd personally recommend going to another location if you're going to eat in. It's not the worst but it's not the best either, and the cleanliness could have been better. Maybe my extra ick feeling was a one time fluke, but this last visit has reinforced that avoiding WingStop altogether is probably the best for me.

Every South Asian restaurant I've loved in my life has been a health inspector's nightmare…read more In Berkeley, I used to frequent Kabana, where the bathrooms were disgustingly filthy, and the only source of light was my phone. Best food ever. Here in SATX, for years, I've (begrudgingly) frequented Madurai Mes a few blocks away. You enter the lobby, and it feels like the staff is having a competition over who can ignore you. It's cramped and dingy, and there are AC hoses snaked throughout the place, and I've never been able to eat there for under $30, but they make a pretty good thali. And so in my brain, the best indian food comes from Resturants you don't much want to eat at. Nawabi was huge and well lit and dare I say clean? It felt slightly dated, and culturally a bit off - like maybe it belonged to an Ethiopian restaurant before - but classy. So the food was going to suck. The menu is expansive and seemingly interesting. It was missing my thali. It did have a number of dishes that offered a few things to try. I haven't, as an adult, longed for food served from a bucket - but Biriyani seems like a solid choice with which to fill one. My kid doesn't care for dosas, but does he like chocolate dosa? I don't know, but were fixin' to find out. Some of the weekend-only options had me salivating. I ordered the Plain dosa with mutton curry. This is a novel combination to me, and maybe also to my waiter, who had me point it out on the menu. It was good, the dosa was thin and crispy with the right amount of edges, the sambar was just ok, the chutneys were good, mutton curry was excellent. I skipped dessert, and opted for chai masala. But I should have really gone with some of their kulfi which looked super tempting in its display case. In short, everything was pretty awesome. I have my next visits penciled in to try the lunch buffet, peruse the weekend menu, and track down the AYCE pani puris. The only problem was that this time - on a Monday night - I was the only customer there, which was weird. But the staff was super welcoming, no Deliverance vibes, so I went with it. If y'all could do me a favor and eat here sometimes to keep this one open, that would be awesome.

**Well, we got our food eventually. **…read more One does appreciate a restaurant that builds anticipation, but this may have been taking the concept a touch too far. We arrived at 4:30 p.m.--well before the dinner rush--yet still waited around 45 minutes for our food. Considering the restaurant wasn't particularly busy, it was a surprising wait. Our evening began with an incorrect drink, followed by the reassuring confidence of being told the server knew exactly which drink had been mistaken... despite it not being the one we'd actually ordered. An admirable commitment to certainty, if not accuracy. Ordering itself felt rather like speaking to someone waiting for a more interesting conversation to begin. Eye contact was in short supply, and our table appeared to receive considerably less attention than the neighbouring group of gentlemen, who seemed to be receiving a far more enthusiastic level of service. When the food finally made its appearance, it did so one plate at a time, allowing one of us the unique dining experience of watching the other eat. No explanation or update was offered--we had to ask whether the rest of the order was still on its way. The wings themselves were equally perplexing. The Honey Hot tasted remarkably similar to a standard mild Buffalo sauce, while the "Girly" mild sauce seemed to consist primarily of butter with only a passing acquaintance with Buffalo flavour. Throughout the meal, we repeatedly found ourselves trying to catch our server's attention, despite there being several servers standing together for much of our visit. It gave the impression that chatting amongst themselves took priority over checking on guests. Perhaps we simply visited on an off day. However, between the lengthy wait despite arriving well before peak hours, the inattentive service, the lack of communication, and the underwhelming wings, we left rather disappointed. If you're looking for excellent wings in the area, we'd happily recommend ** The Anchor Bar** instead. Based on this experience, that's where we'll be heading next time.

Filling, flavorful, and way more interesting than your standard pizza order. The pizzas: * Diablo - Holy shit. This is Hot Ones level spicy. I loved it, but this absolutely needs a warning label. If you're not into serious heat, tread carefully. * Hatch Green Chile Chicken Enchilada - Fire. Balanced, savory, and one of the standouts. * Choriqueso - Excellent. Rich, cheesy, and exactly what you hope it'll be. * Hawaiiana - Not my thing (tons of pineapple = too sweet for me), but my wife LOVED it, so take that for what it's worth. Sides & extras: * Tajín wings - Surprisingly good flavor. Not quite Wingstop-level (same parent company), but still solid and enjoyable. * Breadsticks & Nutella churros - Great taste, but both were a little on the hard side. * Sauces - Biggest surprise of the whole order. The spicy ranch absolutely wins. I'd order it again just for that. For the price, variety, and flavor, this was a win. We ordered a large Half-Cheese Half-Hawaiian Pizza, which got us a pretty judgmental look and comment from one of the employees, but other than that the service was fine and, most importantly, they got our order right. The pizza itself was messily cut and had slid around a bit in the box by the time we opened it up despite the smooth ride back home. Be that as it may, it was yummy. It had TONS of gooey cheese, the crust was soft and chewy, and there was a plentiful amount of ham and pineapple on the Hawaiian side. Zero complaints. We ate every bite. All in all it was a good cheap pizza, and I wouldn't mind returning to try something else off the menu.
