1 slice of pepperoni

Ray's Pizza always hits the spot! The staff is friendly and the service is fast. I ordered the lunch combo with a slice of pizza and a salad. The slice is HUGE and frankly I didn't even finish the pizza slice. The pizza has a great crust which keeps me coming back time and time again.

Pizza was amazing. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Place was a little empty, which seemed unsettling, and there was a lot of workers which made the place feel empty.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Pizza was kind of expensive and wouldn't recommend the gelato but it's a great experience if you want to eat some good pizza..

To start off, pizza is my favorite food in the whole world, and Ray's is the talk of our dental clinic at UTHSCA. They catered some pizza one night for a group, and the smell of it alone was enriching enough for us to want to come here. Came on a Tuesday night at 5:00PM with 24 people, and there was enough tables and chairs to hold us all. Small resturant, but still enough space for a big dinner with friends. Superrrrr casual inside, with a walk up check out. I love that this is pizza by the slice, allows everyone to order exactly what they want and not have to share with anyone either. Roughly $3-$5 per slice, and it's LARGE. Probably 2 normal slides in 1 of these. I split a medium between 3 people, and it was perfect. Only $14! The cheesecake on display looked beautiful and I wish I got one. I got Gelato instead, and wish I could dock half a star just for the price of this gelato. $5.40 for the tiniest scoop, but again i know ice cream/gelato anywhere is gonna run a higher price when you get it like this. Quick, easy place to stop in and eat!

I saw someone post a picture of their pizza on FB & had to try. First time here. Everything was good. The crust of the pizza os one of the best we have had. We tried the classic. It was good. Will definitely try another pizza next time. Loved the wings & ceasar. It is a step up from a hole in the wall. The staff was friendly. Overall good option for pizza & wings.

Staff is friendly, food is nothing to write home about.. I've seen many reviews about the workers being young and rude but I had a great experience. They were quick & friendly and I am just glad my experience was like that rather than some of these stories lol The mozzarella sticks were probably my favorite part. The meat lovers Stromboli was suuuuper greasy like I totally understand pepperoni and sausage have oil but underneath was like a pile of grease and it made my stomach a little uneasy. However, it was huge but the size doesn't really matter when you're not going to eat it anymore... The chicken parm was interesting. Not a cutlet but more like a chicken tender. We were wondering why all the oregano on top because it was a bit overkill -- My bf ate it but we had the same consensus that this sauce is what's lacking. It barely has any flavor unfortunately and it is in most of the dishes we tried.

My fav pizza place! This place has the best pizza for the best prices. (If I want expensive I'm going to Dough's) NY style, thin but very large slices and tastes delicious. Chicken bites are also great. The sandwiches are good (homemade bread ) and fries are great too Great seating area, can always bring a ton of friends. Food ALWAYS tastes great and service is good. Side note- these sell cheesecake slices for $6/ piece and they are delicious. Turtle is my fav. Not sure who bakes them and brings them in to sell in their cases but they are really good.

Hands down the BEST NY style pizza place. I order my slice well done all the time, I love that charred crust. I'm glad they offer the combo daily. Aside from the delicious food, there's the mediocre service. It reminds me of the same service and attitude you would get in NYC. I'm still coming back! Come check them out for yourself!

Came by to celebrate my moms birthday and wasn't disappointed. We ordered several salads, three pizzas, lasagna, and some Spaghetti . Everything was perfect! Pizza was tasty and hot and the salads were so crisp and fresh! I can't wait to go back!

I am so deeply disappointed in the food i received to night. I have been coming here for years and cannot believe the food this evening. Calzone is hard and thin. Wings were so greasy. The calzone was old and chewy. What happened!

I am VERY happy I ignored the yelp reviews and paid attention to the photos. When I first saw the photos I got my hopes up and guess what, Ray's did not disappoint! Is this pizza really 5/5 stars? No...it's more 4/5, BUT... considering there are slim pickings in San Antonio for AUTHENTIC NY Style pizza I just had to give Ray's a bump in rating for standing out. I gotta give credit where credit is due. Most of the bad reviews were geared toward the customer service. I didn't have a bad experience here. Just feed me. Fun fact: I learned that people in Texas are not used to the flavor of NY Style pizza dough. NY Style pizza dough is fermented in the fridge for 1-3 days. That process is what gives the pizza dough that yeasty/doughy flavor. It's a very distinct flavor and I've learned that some people don't like that flavor (sacrilegious lol). Hence lovers of Pizza Hut, Domino's, and Papa John's exist. Anyway...Ray's NAILED the dough flavor. It was there. The texture was spot on as well. I prefer a very tomatoey pizza sauce. The sauce here was good, not amazing, but for sure solid. Ray's is the most authentic NY Style Pizza I have had since living in SA. I've tried Yaghi's, Goomba's, 46th street, and Sapore's. I'd order a pie again from Ray's because it brought me back to the corner store pizzerias I grew up with. Very nostalgic. Very authentic. You want something close to NY Style pizza without being in NY? Head to Ray's. I still have a few more pizzeria's to try out, but right now Ray's takes the cake! Enjoy!

Boneless 10 Piece Single Order Wings

Every single dish I have had from here was a banger! Most recently I had the boneless wings with buffalo and fries. I would go so far as to say better than Wing stop. All my food was hot and fresh. I've also had the Pizza and Ravioli and both were good. I also appreciate their side salads come with assorted toppings, not just a plate of lettuce.

Sausage penne

Wow oh Wow! So horrid day when so many things went wrong. I stopped in at Ray's on the way home, but still had stops along the way. It's great that they used the metal bowl with the cardboard top. It was easily almost an hour before I got to eat this dish...but still quite warm which you can't say for the foam to go containers. I was just bowled over with my first bite of penne sausage. I mean most places say authentic Italian but they are usually a pale imitation of the Italian I grew up on, East Coast, Jersey/ NY Italian. This packed a real WOW! If I closed my eyes I was back eating from a neighbor's Italian grandmother. The sauce, the sausage, the spices...OMG just perfection for me. Loved the bread but not as much as that dish. So why only a three? They gave me the wrong salad...a Caesar salad instead of the garden with blue cheese. The inside while very clean doesn't make me want to linger. The main dish was definitely a five. I also had a gelato which I enjoyed very much. Great selection of gelatos...sorry that photo didn't turn out. If I lived closer I'd be there a lot. So if to go is your game or you don't care about the furniture I highly recommend it. Very easy for handicapped...parking in front and door easy to enter.

Cake batter gelato
Reiley H.

First of all- the pizza was AMAZING. I love the taste of a pizza that has a slight char on the crust because you know it was cooked right. Skip the calamari. It was pretty gross. The mozzarella sticks were decent. What took my by surprise was the marinara! The marinara was delicious. The gelato was okay, I probably wouldn't order it again. I would definitely return for the pizza (and their delicious ranch to dip it in) but I probably wouldn't get any of the appetizers or gelato again.

The food feels like the chefs were given good quality materials, but had no idea what to do with them. We ordered a funghi pizza to share then a cinghiale, a costine (short ribs), and a dentice (bass). Funghi pizza was the only dish that made coming worth it at all. It had a nice flavor, but if you're expecting the notes of an earthy mushroom flavor, don't. It's just a nicer version of a standard cheese pizza topped with some onions and mushroom. The cinghiale was just stunningly mediocre. The meat was flavorful, but the pasta itself was shockingly bland. It was just so... ok. The dentice was the best of the 3 individual dishes, but it is just what you would expect some average short ribs with random sauce to taste. The costine was just terrible. Salty on the outside, yet flavorless on the inside. Avoid at all costs. The service was passable, but they clearly overwork their servers as one server just handles an entire section and is too overwhelmed to be timely. I came to cheer myself up, but honestly it only made dinner comically worse. I seriously can't imagine what would cause someone to rate this as 5 stars. Maybe if they thought Olive Garden was 4.5, then I guess this would barely be a 5 in comparison? Either way, if you're looking for good food for your dinner, keep looking. You won't find it here.

I started with a Hugo spritz, which was light, refreshing, and exactly what I wanted to kick things off. It was incredibly creamy and paired so well with the fresh toppings and bread. Definitely a must-order. And of course, we had to end with dessert--the tiramisu was unbelievably creamy and indulgent, with just the right balance of sweetness and espresso flavor. Absolute perfection. Truly every person at the table seemed to love what they ordered -- we had a lot of "you have to try this!" moments being passed around the table. One thing I especially appreciated was the Caesar salad. I noticed another review mentioning the anchovy flavor in the dressing as a negative, but in my opinion, that's exactly what made it great. For me a Caesar should have that briny anchovy depth, and this one tasted freshly made and perfectly balanced. It felt authentic and thoughtfully prepared. Between the warm atmosphere, truly fantastic service, and food that everyone enjoyed, it made for a really memorable evening. We'll absolutely be back! Thank you Renzo's for taking such great care of us!

Not too hot, just that easy breeze rolling off the river like it's got nowhere else to be. I'm there with my daughter and family, and the world's walking by boats cruising, people laughing, a little chaos, a little charm... dinner and a show, no ticket required. Now the food real Italian food. Not the kind that just throws red sauce at you and hopes for the best. This is layered. Garlic that actually means something. Rich, buttery sauces clinging to perfectly cooked pasta like they're in a lifelong commitment. Smooth enough to keep ordering, strong enough to make you question your life choices in the best way. Service was dialed in. Nobody missing, nobody stressed just right there when you needed them, like they were reading your mind or watching you a little too closely... either way, it worked. And the atmosphere? That's where it gets dangerous. Because you sit there watching the River Walk roll by, the noise, the laughter, the movement... and suddenly two hours disappear. You're ordering dessert you didn't plan on, another drink you don't need, and nobody at the table's in a hurry to leave. I came for Italian food... ...and ended up staying for everything else.

It hardly had any roasted tomatoes in it and large chunks of mozzarella that never melted. The olive oil was very present & not much else. Would have been better tossed with some of that spicy tomato sauce! (see pics). Note-Advise you to make a reservation! So we went online and made a reservation. Upon arrival, we had a large round table set for 10 ready for us. Our waiter, Rami, was really nice and worked hard all evening to take good care of us. The restaurant itself is along a quiet area of the River Walk in an old stone building with tons of charm. The ambiance was relaxed and inviting, perfect for a group dinner. As for the food, it was good but not exceptional. I was excited for the Goat Cheese Pizza with balsamic onion, pistachio, and saba. The thin crust, however, was almost too crunchy and a bit tough to eat. The toppings didn't stand out as much as I had hoped, likely because they were overbaked together. Overall, we had a lovely dinner with great service, a charming atmosphere, and good - but not great - food. 4 stars for now. I would return and try again.

However we realized quickly EVERYONE was waiting outside and they had clearly overbooked or had some issue. Finally, after waiting 20 minutes we were sat. The waittress was kind and let us know the kitchen was having some issues so food would be a little delayed between courses. It was about 60 degrees outside and we kindly asked to turn off the outside fans which were on full blast. Once. Then again, and again, and again. After 5 attempts asking various people we gave up and the waitress let us know she couldnt turn them off because their iPad control died. We werent upset at this we were just upset we kept getting different answers and no explanation for our entire 2+ hr meal. We finished the entree and were waiting for the dessert for about 15 minutes until we finally just flagged down a waittress and asked to get the check and desert to go because we were ready to leave. We waited another 10 minutes before someone else brought us our desert but no check. We asked them for the check and then the original waitress came back with our check and another set of deserts. At some point I saw another server who seemed like the manager or supervisor telling another worker to straighten the tables outside so the corners were aligned... needless to say the table alignment was not the issue. Overall just seemed like the restaurant was overwhelmed and there wasn't alot of communication between tables and the staff. It seems the staff was trying their best but the management wasn't handling it well. Would have appreciated more effort into making sure we were taken care of considering the meal for 2 totaled almost 300$. The only reason this isn't a one star is because of the kind waiting staff.

As far as the food, we had the fried mozzarella, which was essentially a log of cheese deep-fried and served over sauce. It was delicious, but the cheese-to-crust ratio was a bit heavy. The Caesar salad looked better than it tasted. It was very wet, if that makes sense, and the lettuce seemed soggy. Now for the Wagyu ragu. This almost made me have a seizure, and not in a good way. It was extremely salty and completely inedible, so we had to send it back. The waitstaff was very accommodating and agreed that the salt level was way off, so we replaced it with the carbonara. I'm not sure if that's what authentic carbonara is supposed to taste like, but I did not enjoy it. It tasted burnt to me and had too much pepper. I also didn't care for the shape of the noodles. Last, we had the Americano pizza. It was decent, but nothing to write home about. I just think that if you're going to advertise a pizza with meat on it, there should be more than one piece of sausage per slice. As far as the service, our server was fine.
