    Supreme pizza

To start off, pizza is my favorite food in the whole world, and Ray's is the talk of our dental clinic at UTHSCA. They catered some pizza one night for a group, and the smell of it alone was enriching enough for us to want to come here. Came on a Tuesday night at 5:00PM with 24 people, and there was enough tables and chairs to hold us all. Small resturant, but still enough space for a big dinner with friends. Superrrrr casual inside, with a walk up check out. I love that this is pizza by the slice, allows everyone to order exactly what they want and not have to share with anyone either. Roughly $3-$5 per slice, and it's LARGE. Probably 2 normal slides in 1 of these. I split a medium between 3 people, and it was perfect. Only $14! The cheesecake on display looked beautiful and I wish I got one. I got Gelato instead, and wish I could dock half a star just for the price of this gelato. $5.40 for the tiniest scoop, but again i know ice cream/gelato anywhere is gonna run a higher price when you get it like this. Quick, easy place to stop in and eat!

I saw someone post a picture of their pizza on FB & had to try. First time here. Everything was good. The crust of the pizza os one of the best we have had. We tried the classic. It was good. Will definitely try another pizza next time. Loved the wings & ceasar. It is a step up from a hole in the wall. The staff was friendly. Overall good option for pizza & wings.

Staff is friendly, food is nothing to write home about.. I've seen many reviews about the workers being young and rude but I had a great experience. They were quick & friendly and I am just glad my experience was like that rather than some of these stories lol The mozzarella sticks were probably my favorite part. The meat lovers Stromboli was suuuuper greasy like I totally understand pepperoni and sausage have oil but underneath was like a pile of grease and it made my stomach a little uneasy. However, it was huge but the size doesn't really matter when you're not going to eat it anymore... The chicken parm was interesting. Not a cutlet but more like a chicken tender. We were wondering why all the oregano on top because it was a bit overkill -- My bf ate it but we had the same consensus that this sauce is what's lacking. It barely has any flavor unfortunately and it is in most of the dishes we tried.

Pizza was amazing. Place was a little empty, which seemed unsettling, and there was a lot of workers which made the place feel empty. Pizza was kind of expensive and wouldn't recommend the gelato but it's a great experience if you want to eat some good pizza..

My fav pizza place! This place has the best pizza for the best prices. (If I want expensive I'm going to Dough's) NY style, thin but very large slices and tastes delicious. Chicken bites are also great. The sandwiches are good (homemade bread ) and fries are great too Great seating area, can always bring a ton of friends. Food ALWAYS tastes great and service is good. Side note- these sell cheesecake slices for $6/ piece and they are delicious. Turtle is my fav. Not sure who bakes them and brings them in to sell in their cases but they are really good.

Came by to celebrate my moms birthday and wasn't disappointed. We ordered several salads, three pizzas, lasagna, and some Spaghetti . Everything was perfect! Pizza was tasty and hot and the salads were so crisp and fresh! I can't wait to go back!

Hands down the BEST NY style pizza place. I order my slice well done all the time, I love that charred crust. I'm glad they offer the combo daily. Aside from the delicious food, there's the mediocre service. It reminds me of the same service and attitude you would get in NYC. I'm still coming back! Come check them out for yourself!

I am VERY happy I ignored the yelp reviews and paid attention to the photos. When I first saw the photos I got my hopes up and guess what, Ray's did not disappoint! Is this pizza really 5/5 stars? No...it's more 4/5, BUT... considering there are slim pickings in San Antonio for AUTHENTIC NY Style pizza I just had to give Ray's a bump in rating for standing out. I gotta give credit where credit is due. Most of the bad reviews were geared toward the customer service. I didn't have a bad experience here. Just feed me. Fun fact: I learned that people in Texas are not used to the flavor of NY Style pizza dough. NY Style pizza dough is fermented in the fridge for 1-3 days. That process is what gives the pizza dough that yeasty/doughy flavor. It's a very distinct flavor and I've learned that some people don't like that flavor (sacrilegious lol). Hence lovers of Pizza Hut, Domino's, and Papa John's exist. Anyway...Ray's NAILED the dough flavor. It was there. The texture was spot on as well. I prefer a very tomatoey pizza sauce. The sauce here was good, not amazing, but for sure solid. Ray's is the most authentic NY Style Pizza I have had since living in SA. I've tried Yaghi's, Goomba's, 46th street, and Sapore's. I'd order a pie again from Ray's because it brought me back to the corner store pizzerias I grew up with. Very nostalgic. Very authentic. You want something close to NY Style pizza without being in NY? Head to Ray's. I still have a few more pizzeria's to try out, but right now Ray's takes the cake! Enjoy!

I am so deeply disappointed in the food i received to night. I have been coming here for years and cannot believe the food this evening. Calzone is hard and thin. Wings were so greasy. The calzone was old and chewy. What happened!

Every single dish I have had from here was a banger! Most recently I had the boneless wings with buffalo and fries. I would go so far as to say better than Wing stop. All my food was hot and fresh. I've also had the Pizza and Ravioli and both were good. I also appreciate their side salads come with assorted toppings, not just a plate of lettuce.

Wow oh Wow! So horrid day when so many things went wrong. I stopped in at Ray's on the way home, but still had stops along the way. It's great that they used the metal bowl with the cardboard top. It was easily almost an hour before I got to eat this dish...but still quite warm which you can't say for the foam to go containers. I was just bowled over with my first bite of penne sausage. I mean most places say authentic Italian but they are usually a pale imitation of the Italian I grew up on, East Coast, Jersey/ NY Italian. This packed a real WOW! If I closed my eyes I was back eating from a neighbor's Italian grandmother. The sauce, the sausage, the spices...OMG just perfection for me. Loved the bread but not as much as that dish. So why only a three? They gave me the wrong salad...a Caesar salad instead of the garden with blue cheese. The inside while very clean doesn't make me want to linger. The main dish was definitely a five. I also had a gelato which I enjoyed very much. Great selection of gelatos...sorry that photo didn't turn out. If I lived closer I'd be there a lot. So if to go is your game or you don't care about the furniture I highly recommend it. Very easy for handicapped...parking in front and door easy to enter.

First of all- the pizza was AMAZING. I love the taste of a pizza that has a slight char on the crust because you know it was cooked right. Skip the calamari. It was pretty gross. The mozzarella sticks were decent. What took my by surprise was the marinara! The marinara was delicious. The gelato was okay, I probably wouldn't order it again. I would definitely return for the pizza (and their delicious ranch to dip it in) but I probably wouldn't get any of the appetizers or gelato again.

The first night I was greeted by a friendly host and sat at the bar, where Billy took great care of me. He recommended the Cotto e Salsiccia, and I'm so glad he did. It was easily one of the best pizzas I've had. While I was there, the cheesemaker let me try a bite of the fresh mozzarella they were making in-house. It was still warm and absolutely delicious. The next night I was feeling a little homesick after being away for work, and all I could think about was that pizza. I walked back in and the host greeted me by name. I sat at the bar again, where another bartender remembered me from the night before, and Billy came over just to say hi. It seems like such a small thing, but when you're traveling alone, being welcomed back like that can completely change your evening. What really impressed me was seeing that it wasn't just me. The guy next to me ordered two pizzas to go, and when the chef brought them out he smiled and said, "Oh, Jose! I thought this order looked familiar!" You can tell they actually know their regulars and genuinely enjoy what they do. The second night I ordered the Fontina e Salsiccia, and somehow it was just as good as the first pizza. Everything is cooked in the wood-fired oven--even the wings--and you can taste the difference. The crust has that perfect char, the ingredients are fresh, and it's the kind of authentic Neapolitan pizza that keeps you thinking about it long after you've left. I've eaten at a lot of good restaurants while traveling, but very few have made me feel as welcome as Dough did. Great food is one thing. Great people are what made me come back the very next day. I'll absolutely be back the next time I'm in San Antonio.

Every dish feels thoughtfully curated with tried-and-true recipes rooted in Chef Luca and his family's Northern Italian traditions. This is the kind of place where quality takes priority over quantity. Our server, Gary, was fantastic. He was friendly, incredibly knowledgeable, and passionate about Italian food and wine. His recommendations were spot-on and his enthusiasm felt so genuine. We started with a bread basket accompanied by a little sampling of tapenade, which was savory, briny, and a perfect complement to the warm bread. Came in with a group of four, we kicked things off with the burrata starter--a surprisingly fun and shareable adventure of baked burrata, fresh crostini, roasted cauliflower, asparagus, sun-dried tomatoes, artichokes, and basil cream. There was a lot happening on the plate, but it all worked beautifully together. For our entrées, we ordered the Tartufo, Cinghiale, Bolognese, and Carbonara. And let me just say, the Tartufo was a full-on dinner performance. Gary brought out steaming hot tagliatelle pasta and tossed it tableside inside a giant wheel of Parmesan. He then topped it with crab meat in brown butter before finishing it with a generous shaving of truffle. Every bite was like a perfectly timed symphony of flavors--rich, savory, buttery, and earthy, with nothing outshining the other. I'd put this dish up against anyone's nonna. I sampled the other three entrées as well, and every one was delicious. The gnocchi in the Cinghiale is an absolute must-try--pillowy, texturally delightful, and packed with flavor. Thank you, Nonna Osteria, for such an epic culinary experience. And a special shoutout to Gary for guiding us through the menu and making an already great dinner even better.
