Tried Goomba's for the first time with a group of coworkers. Their lunch special was 2 giant slices of pizza and drink for about $15. I love that you can pick your toppings and get by the slice vs. a whole pizza. I was only able to eat one of the slices because so big. The restaurant is clean, bright and attractive. Counter service was friendly. Pizza crust, thickness and cheesiness is like NYC style. But I found it to be very bland. No traditional spices detected like oregano, garlic, etc. Ok for a quick lunch but I would probably not return given more flavorful options in the area. read more

Man oh man, it's goombas, what else can I say? If you are familiar with wonderland mall, you will have seen or at least tried goombas once. But then you find out that there are a few locations! It's wildly good. The pizza is surprisingly affordable for how good and massive the pizzas can be! We tried an assortment of food which you can see and it was great. The staff made it easy to order and were super helpful. The interior was a classic NY style set up, some high seating and some takes that could accommodate 6 people. I stopped by here with some friends for lunch and really enjoyed it! The cashier recommended their lunch specials. I split a combo (2 slices w/ 2 toppings each + Drink) with a friend and it came out to about ~$6 a slice which I think is so affordable! As seen in the picture, these slices are HUGE. Ordered delivery to our hotel room. Decided on Goomba's because of the decent reviews. The pizza we got makes me think we didn't order from the same place everyone raved about. It was awful, like not even edible. I feel like it was leftovers that sat in someone's car for three hours in the heat. This is one place in San Antonio I won't be returning to. read more

If I could give this zero stars, I would on Wednesday afternoon around 3:30. I had called and heard that this was such a great family run Italian style pizza so I had ordered two Stromboli's one vegetarian and the other beef I picked it up. had a nice conversation with Maria. The owner even ordered some extra sauce got home cut into it and as you will see by the pictures, the veggie had meat in it and the other one was completely not cooked. The dough wasn't even cooked. I called back And offered to send photos and I was told that Maria had left and I was to call back we didn't call back tonight to see if they could remake our order I had called and was put on hold for 10 minutes when Javier, who announced that he was, the manager said that his cook cooked it perfectly he remembers apparently he remembers every order and I said so you're not interested in me sending you photos of where it wasn't and you're not interested in and rectifying this at all. It was an edible and he said no I'm not interested in it at all and hung up on me I will tell you do not spend one dollar here they don't deserve your money not only when people make a mistake. They have no desire to correct it and I spent $42 on an edible food Again I truly believe in lifting people up that these people were horrible and they do not stand behind their product so I would definitely not go there. read more

This is a very authentic NY/NJ style pizza. If you're an itinerant New Yorker, this is closest to a Bleeker Street pie. Very thin crust, with the perfect amount of chewiness and crunch. Mushroom topping was very good. Pepperoni was epic, with a little charred crunch at the end! This place scores a 5 out of 5 on the 'CTJ Scale', as noted below. 5 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Jesus good. I've been going with my teen sons to a different pizza place each weekend they're with me. We've been to several places and none have been bad and most have been great. For me this was just fine. The taste was ok. Not great, but not bad either. The interactions with staff were limited. Just the ordering and receiving of the food. The dude was nice and all, not unpleasant and not outstanding. I had mixed feelings about the ambiance. I like the decor; I've never been to New York, but it had a New York feeling to me. The downsides were the arcade machine they have is just sitting there not turned on or not working. As a former New Yorker, this pizza is as close to NY style pizza as you can get in Texas. It's always fresh, hot and cooked just the way I like it. The restaurant is clean, the service is excellent and I have never had a bad experience there. It's one of the best I have been to since my move here. I highly recommend them. read more

The crust is thin, they do not skimp on the toppings and it's just overall very tasty. Local pizza joints with fresh ingredients just hit different. Goomba's has been taken over by Slice! It used to be a friendly, corner pizza joint with delicious food and nice people. We used to live close to the I10/ Wurzbach location and would eat there every 10 days to 2 weeks. We've since moved quite a distance away but still try to get there every 6-8 weeks. This last visit was a disaster! The large Supreme we ordered was overdone and tough and tasted like bitter, burned tomato sauce! The Greek salad was chopped into little bits, I believe to hide all the brown lettuce. It was also soggy and seemed like it had been sitting in a vat for a while. The only halfway decent item was the wings. As soon as I tasted the food I googled the restaurant to see if it had changed owners. The internet told me no but then I discovered they've since gone under the Slice Life chain. Needless to say our favorite pizza place is GONE and we won't be making that long drive again! read more

The pizza was hard and a little burnt tasted passable I don't mind a thin crust but there was barely any marinera sauce and cheese a giant pizza is basically a large pizza. We got there and needed a phone or at least the free wifi of the place and the staff couldn't help and when we needed refills we were denied refills, we had to go all the way up to Burlington to get some affordable waters cause if you buy and you are still thirsty you have to pay whole price once again! Nice little duck off pizza spot in San Antonio of I-10. Speedy and great service, pizza slices are huge, and they have great daily deals. The place reminds me a little of New York, you're able to get slices as opposed to entire pizzas and the slices are offered in the daily deals that feature either 2 slices and a drink, 1 slice a drink and a salad, or a pasta deal option. I had 2 slices and it was more than enough, so much so I had leftovers. This is 1/2 places I know that actually serve nice slices in the city. The ambience is a very classical pizza spot you'd see in some older movies; the classic red and white tabletops, arcade area, and fountain drinks. Definitely a light time travel and could've served as a hangout spot. read more

I'm spoiled since I grew up in Jersey City and had NYC as my backyard. There were multiple pizzerias within a 1 mile radius so competition was thick. Finding Goomba's got my hopes up as "Goomba" was a slang word I'd hear often. Unfortunately, the pizza didn't do anything for me. They also don't serve zeppoles (let alone didn't know what they are). Nothing was crave worthy for me. Does not mean you shouldn't check this place out for yourself. Give it a shot and see if you like it. Excellent New York style pizza! I recently moved into the neighborhood, purchased a house nearby. I've been trying out restaurants that provide take out, delivery, drive thru or curbside pick up due to the pandemic. I'm no longer dining in at restaurants until there is a vaccine or when the COVID-19 threat ends. I did order takeout on first experience at Goomba's. Even though social distancing was strictly enforced with limited capacity, I still felt more comfortable just to order takeout. The restaurant staff was friendly and helpful. Pricing is very realistic, especially for the Giant Size. The Goomba's Supreme was outmost fantastic! You can really taste the difference on the quality ingredients and flavor. It's New York style at its finest. I was in Pizza Heaven as I consumed my pizza slices . I shared the pizza with a buddy and there was still enough for leftovers. Goomba's definitely made a big impression for my first ordered pizza takeout. I'll be counting down for my next pizza night takeout! read more

Good New York-style pizza. The toppings are not the exactly fresh, and the sauce is okay. The dough and crust is really the star - and the pizza was baked just right enough in order for you to hold up the large slice with your hand, and pliable enough to fold it, as they do in New York. But would I still come back despite the toppings needing to be improved? Sure - as long as it is cheap. Heck, you walk around in New York, and most of the pizzas you see in the window front consists of subpar toppings as well. This place is no different. But if you're going to compare this place to top-notch pizzerias of Brooklyn, then you're really far away from the perfect pizza heaven. But otherwise, for a New Yorker on the go, this place does do the quick trick. The pasta dish a friend of mine ordered was surprisingly very large - and seems to be a better deal than the pizza, if you ask me. Upon entering, I thought this is such a cute little New York was pretty clean however employees could've been clean tables floor. I was greeted by the cashier young lady who was nice. She did have an AirPod AirPod in her ear which I thought that was a bit unprofessional and she came out from kitchen area wearing black gloves. She touched the registered took my cash money and went back into the back. That is a huge concern however I normally just pray over my food and hope for the best. I ordered the small Greek salad and a philly cheese steak pizza. I did ask for it to be cooked longer and it wasn't. The middle was soft and soggy. I had to put it in my oven and cook it longer. I don't know how or why I forgot about this place. I used to come here all the time and for whatever reason I stopped. Ordered a medium pepperoni pizza and it was so good! NY style pizza is my favorite and they get it right. Now I can't compare it to a "true" NY style pizza as I have never been to NY but I will say from the NY style pizzas I've had here in SA it's far better.
