    Chicken egg rolls
    Angela B.

Upon approaching the facility was clean. Upon entering the facility was dark and the seating area was closed. Only a few chairs to sit and wait for your order. The gentleman at the counter was very polite and kind. I waited for a short time and then my order came out. Two chicken egg rolls. Nicely packaged. However, I was eating on my auto and I was not provided napkins. These egg rolls had a taste I cannot place, but it wasn't pleasant. I'd try another menu item, but not this one again.

Chan's unsuccessful attempt at Subgum, ended up with watery shrimp & veggies in canned bean sprout juice. Someone needs to buy a strainer

BEWARE!! I ordered the shrimp Subgum chow mein from Chans. I have been eating subgum chow mein for too many years (40yrs) to admit. It was absolutely AWFUL! The paper bag that was delivered to my front porch was dripping all over the porch and down the hallway of my home. I didn't even realize it was dripping at first, because I didn't order soup or anything with a soup like consistently, so I certainly wasn't expecting a leak from the bag. After I got the food into the kitchen and on the counter, I started to unpack it. I thought maybe I had received the wrong order and I had somebody else's order with soup in it. But it wasn't the soup, it was the shrimp subgum chow mein. Yes, my shrimp and vegetables we're just simply swimming in water. I immediately called the restaurant and spoke with some lady who explained to me that it's watery because of the bean sprouts. What do the bean sprouts have to do with making shrimp subgum chow mein? Subgum chow mein is supposed to have a nice, rich, thick opalescent sauce that clings to the vegetables and shrimp. It should also be flavorful. If I wanted steamed shrimp and vegetables in water, that's what I would have ordered. So I asked the lady if I could add cornstarch to thicken up it up, because I know that is how they thicken up the subgum sauce. She says "yes, on the stove, add a little water and slowly add in cornstarch to thicken it up and then add it to the shrimp subgum". I realize that I didn't spend $55 to go to the stove and start mixing together a thickener, in order to have the shrimp subgum chow mein that I initially ordered. I tried to eat it, however it was simply just steamed shrimp and vegetables with no flavor profile at all. I really wanted the flavor of that flavorful thick subgum sauce that every other Chinese restaurant, that offers subgum chow mein, now how to successfully create in their own kitchen. I then tried to call the restaurant the next day, but I didn't realize it was Monday and they were closed, so I waited until Tuesday and reach back out to the restaurant. I spoke with a very rude man. I asked him why it was so waterery and he said "after 20 minutes it gets watery because of the bean sprouts ". Again with the bean sprouts!? I asked why is it that every other Chinese restaurant that I've ordered subgum from, ever after a night in the refrigerator and being reheated the next day, still has a velvety, thick and flavorful sauce clinging to the vegetables and shrimp. He told me that if I don't like their subgum, I should order something different. But I have a better idea! I'll never order from you again, and I will make sure that everybody that I know, is aware of how much your food lacks and how unprofessional, inconsiderate and rude your restaurant is. I reached out to GrubHub too to let them know how dissatisfied I was. I don't often complain but when I spend $55 on takeout Chinese, I want and expect a nice meal, even a decent meal would do. Definitely would have been better off even with Panda Express at this point. So if you want authentic, flavorful, rich Chinese-American food, I would steer very clear of Chan's Chinese restaurant!!

Great gem in Gurnee. Family owned, authentic Chinese food. I recommend especially for the price. Good food!

This was one of the best Thai food in northern suburbs. We were at gurnee mills mall and instead of…read morehaving like crappy mall food, we decided for a sit down restaurant with decent food. This is not too far from the mall. Usually Asian restaurants don't really focus on the interior decor unless they are upscale. The good thing about this place was I even liked their decor, which gave a good vibe. Only different thing was the servers didn't wait at the table, you had to order at the counter. And the silverware was more like plasticware.. Food 5 stars Ambiance 5 stars Service was quick

My favorite items to get here are the Tom Yum soup, they let you choose the protein and the spice level and have an option for both bowl or a cup. The cup is about a pint size which is a great portion. I love getting the Tofu with this soup because I feel like it soaks in the flavor and breaks up the yummy spices. For the different levels of spice, just a heads up that there is a huge difference for a medium in a cup versus a medium in a bowl. Both are delish, but the cup medium is SPICY in the best way. I also really enjoy their basil fried rice with chicken. You can take the sauteed char from the basil and the medium in this is also spot on for us. Maybe one day I'll be brave enough to try a higher heat, because Thai chilis are no joke! All in all, we frequent here often since moving up here and are so glad to have a staple in the area and in our regular rotation.

They really lack in keeping the food warm, I would stir the food and grab from the bottom and when I would take a bite it was lukewarm at best. The hibachi station was good, very friendly cook. The ambiance was very clean and upkept. I just disliked how I had to guess whether or not my next bite will be cold or lukewarm. Staff was very friendly and it was decently priced.

Very limited options. As we were waiting to order I allowed my 2 family members to order first so he started making their food while im standing there waiting. in the meantime a mess up of his came back and he proceeded to remake that order before taking care of me as i was already waiting. i allowed it without saying anything. 15 minutes later of me standing there he proceeded to ask me "what you want". I gave him my order which was pretty simple and I did ask for my meat to be cooked well done and extra teriyaki sauce. I proceeded to wait another 10 minutes at the table for my food and went back to check to find my order sitting by the hibachi place with the chicken being white on my plate, clearly undercooked, half of what I had ordered was missing off the plate and there was no teriyaki. After realizing that when I got to the table, I was so upset and just called over the server to let her know what happened and if she could take me off the bill since I haven't ate. to which she proceeded to just bring me the bill how it was. so i called her over again and asked again if she can take me off because i was not able to enjoy any food. her manager came over to the table, didnt introduce herself or anything just said "whats your problem?" so i told her the same thing, she took the bill to go take me off and came back and aggressively returned the adjusted check on the table. On the way out, there was a bowl of apples and my aunt thought it was just for people to take, she is a little older, but the same manager that adjusted the bill came running out of her office screaming at us like we were stealing, mind you FOR AN APPLE. Disgusting. I am so disappointed that we paid for that disgusting service and tipped too. Only good thing was the place was slightly cleaner than others. If i could give 0 stars I still would.
