I used an app to order (seamless - which is a part of grub hub I guess). And the reviews were high on the site - 64 positive. Ok, we will try! I wish I checked here first as I usually do. My wife loves chicken Rangoon and sweet and sour chicken with their house sauce. As other reviewers stated- the chicken was dried out highly breaded and fried in old bad tasting oil. The rangoons were sweet! Which is not a good thing for us and there was no taste of anything except sugar, cream cheese and oil. I wish we stopped eating right away. One of the things we ate was tainted or not cooked right. We ended up in the ER. My wife was throwing up for 7 hours and I was for 2 hours. Got some fluids but we were stuck in our house for another day after that while the food poisoning ran its course.... worst vacation ever. This place is a pretty good option up here in Lake County. I've never dined at the restaurant; only delivery. They are always at my house pretty fast. The food is good and hot. It is the only place I've found in Lake County with good moo shu that uses the right type of pancakes. All of the other places try to substitute flour tortillas (which are horrible with mu shu). I've also had the beef-green bean, a few of the noodle dishes, fried rice, and the chicken egg rolls. Everything was pretty good (for Lake County). If this place were in Chicago, I would probably only give it 3 stars, since there are way better options in the city. But to find something this good in Gurnee was a welcomed find. Make sure to ask for sweet and sour sauce if you want it with your delivery order because it's never in my bag. read more

I asked if they had general tso chicken, the girl on the phone told me they call it governor chicken but its the same thing. It was not the same thing. It was good, but disappointing that I didn't get what I was told I was getting. Other than that, the people were friendly and prices reasonable. Walked in at 9:05 and they would not seat us because they were closing in 20 minutes. One star for poor service. They close at 9pm not 930 only for carryouts after 9pm. If the owners try to write anything don't believe them or you'll drive down to be disappointed. read more

Chan's is the only place in Lake County for Chinese food! I've been a study customer for over 10 years, never been disappointed. I usually order delivery, my order is always correct and the food is always outstanding. My go to dishes are crabmeat rangoon, beef lo mein, mongolian chicken, beef chop suey, sweet and sour shrimp and the egg drop soup. Try everything, you won't be disappointed! Chans was worse than average Chinese food I've had. I had the Kung pao beef, my wife had moo shu chicken, and we also tried the crab Rangoon and chicken lo mein. All of them were very bland. The Kung pao beef had too much sweet gravy sauce and not enough water chestnuts, peanuts or heat. The chicken lo mein was tasteless. Only the crab Rangoon was decent, although worse than other places. read more

I normally get beef Egg Foo Young from. Best Panda. They didn't have the dish tonite, so I called Chans for it. I know Chans gets pretty good reviews but based on their Beef Egg Foo Young I would not go back. The Egg Foo Young at Best Panda beats Chans hands down. I have ordered from Chans for quite a while..I don't like their eggrolls or their other appetizers,but I did like their Shrimp broccoli or Shrimp Kow I always ordered 2-3 times extra shrimp...I ordered yesterday and they got my order very messed uyp with beef and chicken..I had to drive back,the lady apologized to me,when I picked up the order it felt very light...then I opened it and there were 16 shrimp in it!!! This place looks dismal on the outside, great on the inside but don't be fooled...the service while dining in was relatively quick, the fried rice was okay but nothing special. The sweet n sour chicken was good and was really the only thing flavorful i ate. The orange chicken looked amazing when it came out but i was left dissapointed, the chicken didn't taste or look like chicken on the inside, it was very tough and the "orange" sauce tasted like nothing, literally. Chan's Spicy Chicken (C22) is 5 star. Just the right amount of heat and a ton of white meat chicken cubes. The vegetable and squid (H6 "Spicy Squid) is excellent and lower calorie as well. Orange chicken is great. Enjoyed the Mushroom fried rice. My boys loved the chicken wings. I'll be making them a regular for Chinese food. read more

Not the best I've ever had. The only plus was that it was ready on time. The fried rice was more like white rice with soy sauce to turn it brown and tasted burnt, the mongolian beef which I asked for with medium spice, had no spice at all. This is probably the best Chinese place in Lake County. Authentic Chinese food and delicious entrées. I particularly like ordering from the new menu but the garlic ribs from the old menu is one of my favorites. I have tried almost everything in the new menu and they all tasted good. Among the many choices of fried rice, the barbecue duck fried rice is highly recommended. For veggies, I would suggest trying the braised eggplant. They make good soups, too. Was craving Chinese while visiting from Florida for a Navy boot camp graduation. Sesame chicken was completely bland, absolutely zero taste. Beef and broccoli was disgusting as well and the spring rolls were a nasty gray color inside and had a sketchy taste. Place is nice and clean, plenty of parking too. We ordered dinner which for an extra 2.50 includes soup, egg roll, fried rice and a Rangoon. Won Ton soup is very good, as is the egg roll and Rangoon. Entrees of orange chicken and Walnut shrimp were very good though served not as hot as we prefer. Not sure how that happened. The staff is very nice.
