Went here for lunch yesterday. It was really good! We had the regular beef burrito, the burrito especial, and the enchiladas and all three of us said it was incredibly tasty and we would come back again! Also, you can't beat the prices! First time trying them. Husband and child got the cheese enchiladas and had mixed reviews. Child found them too saucy and spicy, husband declared them the best cheese enchiladas he's had in years. I got the carne guisada plate and though there were only 4 pieces of meat, it was well-seasoned. I just would like to see a better portioning for what the plate costs. The rice was good but could use a slight bit more flavor, and the beans could use a touch more seasoning as well. The tortillas tasted fresh and delicious, not like the bagged kind that always smell and taste sour. The wait time for our food was almost 50 minutes, so that was a concern. Staff was friendly. I loved this place for a long time and want to love this place but the grumpy rude waitress has made me not to want to come back. This has happened repeatedly. I have spoken to Johnny and his wife but I guess they don't really care that she is chasing away customers. One example is I ordered take out one evening I walked in to pick my order and was greeted with a rude " we are closed!" Not even a hello, I was tempted to just walk out and screw the food and go somewhere else (I live next door to Tequila but made the trip to Receurdos btw). Very ghetto by the waitstaff. in my opinion. I sadly will be going somewhere else until they figure out how to treat and appreciate their customers. Came with some friends from out of town based on Yelp reviewers. Their hours are limited so we got there before the lunch crowd. The chips and salsa were really good. My only complaint was with my migas, with chorizo and cheese as extras. There was hardly any chorizo or cheese to be seen. It looked and tasted very bland, except for the 2 pieces of sliced, fresh jalapeno, which were very spicy. The potatoes were a fried mashed affair, which did taste good, just different. My wife and I just returned from lunch here. For a small, hometown Tex-Mex restaurant, this is as good as it gets. I had the Special and she had the Enchilada plate. The food came to the table bubbling hot and the guacamole salad and crispy taco was served on a second plate and the bottom of the taco was still crispy! The guacamole was perfect, served on a generous mound of shredded iceberg lettuce and tomatoes. Well, my family and I have been wanting to try Recuerdos for a long time and we were finally able to get there today. We weren't greeted when we walked in nor acknowledged for nearly 10 minutes. We were finally waited on by a young girl and we got our drinks promptly and a pretty tasty appetizer of queso and chips. Without getting into all the sordid details of how we had a very awkward dining experience, I can say this. If you want decent food? They will serve you decent food. It's actually tasty. I'd been wanting to try this restaurant and I kept forgetting it was closed on Mondays. It's open most days from 7:00 - 2:30 for breakfast and lunch. Friday and Saturday it is open later. I ordered the beef enchiladas and it came out piping hot. It was was very tasty. I was wavering between the enchiladas and tacos as I wanted something crunchy, but the chips and salsa filled this craving. Great little spot in downtown Round Rock! I got the beef enchiladas, which were delicious. My wife got the cheese enchilada plate, which we were told is the best seller, and she loved them. Even the salsa was nice and fresh, and they were great about checking to see if we needed more chips. They also give you hot, fresh tortillas with your meal if you want. We also got the queso compuesto (queso with beef and guacamole) as an appetizer, which was really good. The margaritas were solid as well. All in all, this is a great spot that serves quality food at a reasonable price with a really friendly staff (family owned and operated, I believe). I lived in Corpus Christi for a few years, and these kinds of family run "hole in the wall" places were everywhere, but they're hard to find around here. Great food!! The owners used to work at Enchiladas Y Mas in Austin, where we love to go. They cooked up breakfast tacos for the girls even though it was past time. So polite and friendly. The owner came out and greeted us, shook our hands. Asked how we liked the food. He knew the other patrons by name. It's a small hole in the wall, but that's my favorite kind of place! Had a family dinner at Recuerdos on Friday evening and I have to say it was excellent. They definitely have the best enchiladas in Round Rock. They will remind you of Enchiladas Y Mas or Maudies enchiladas in Austin. Great crispy tacos also and their frozen margaritas pack a nice punch and taste great. We tried Recuerdos for the first time time and teally enjoyed it! It is a very casual Family environment ! It is very small- 10 or 12 tables. If you pay cash you get a 4% discount. The bring chips & salsa to the table. Both are great fresh & flavorful/ perfect heat on the salsa. I ordered a frozen margarita- if you like your margarita less sweet you'll love the margaritas! We ordered guacamole to start It was not very good bland ,no onions or cilantro . Hubby ordered menudo- really enjoyed it but he added chopped serrano peppers. my fajita taco was excellent- neat had lits of flavor , it is tender & delicious! The onions & peppers are perfectly seasoned/ absolutely delicious! beans & Rice delicious- didn't care for the beef & chicken crunchy tacos my son ordered,,they were a bit bland & taco fell apart! Hubby an I stopped in here for lunch today. Nice little place right on Main Street downtown. Service was okay, but our server kept coming to the table asking if we were ready to order. We finally decided on the chicken enchiladas. When our food arrived it appeared to have been placed in the microwave too long as the rice and beans had a crust on top and the green sauce overwhelmed the enchiladas. We had to wait several minutes before we could eat because the food was way overheated. Before we could finish our meal, the waitress came over and removed my husband's plate not even asking if we were done. Then returned with the check but no "thank you " or anything. We felt very rushed from the time we walked in the door until our departure. This was our first visit, however we won't be returning. The salsa which to me is always an indication whether the food will be good or not was spicy and quite tasty. Chips were decent and not greasy. We ordered a variety of dishes. I was surprised at the portions they were huge so come hungry. I really liked the Spanish rice it was flavorful...I could taste a hint of chicken broth along with some cumin and spices. So many restaurants have bland rice. The retried beans were decent, didn't blow me away but were still good. Several of the men got fajitas, there were large chunks of fajita chicken so much that our hearty eater actually had left overs. The owners are friendly and eager to please.
