[[HIGHLIGHT]]Cute little shop that is around the corner from Grover Beach Sourdough.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Came in and grabbed an Americano. Initial reaction, they aren't very friendly. I got a look, but no greeting. When I got to the counter to order, I could barely hear the server. Got my Americano and found it to be a little weak. 4 shots for the large - maybe they need to up it to 6. I don't think I'll be back. Their other menu items might be good, but for coffee, I found it to be a little weak.

I found the service to be friendly, and my chai latte was out and ready in literally 2 minutes! Their prices for drinks are well in line with the larger coffee chains, with MUCH better ambience inside and outside for those who want to sit a while, so why not support a local business instead? Easy parking in the back and on side streets is a plus.

We came here twice during our trip to Pismo Beach and the coffee is great! We had it both iced and hot and it was delicious. We also ate two of the breakfast paninis and loved them! A "large" iced Hawaiian latte A medium late with "light" foam ...According to them lol

Wanted to support a small coffee shop so I came here with another one of my family members. I ordered for a large iced Hawaiian latte. I felt like I received a medium considering the size of the cup/oz, the girl who seemed like she didn't want to be there in the first place, gave me my coffee and I had to ask to make sure it was a large, not a medium as she had called out seconds before....after that unsure answer from her, my other drink came out and was a medium extra hot latte with no foam requested. The drink was 1/4 foam and lacked flavor, again just like the first drink. Safe to say after a $13.50 bill for two coffees, $1 tip, bland coffee flavor, and not good customer service, I will not be supporting here anymore unfortunately.

Truth Bee Told Small, locally-owned café and roastery located in scenic Grover Beach that's been in operation since 2017 (ownership change in 2020). Red Bee was only a few blocks from the AirBnB we were staying at, so it made for a nice morning constitutional to get our morning caffeine fix. The Good: *Only three blocks from the beach. *Street and private lot parking *Outdoor dog-friendly area *Lattes were delicious and beautifully crafted. The Meh: *$1 oat milk tax (i.e., luxury tax) *Panini was OK but could've used a little more filling The Ugly: *Service was standoffish and smarmy. Definitely not what one would expect in a small mom-and-pop café like this but usually in one of the larger chains. Conclusion: Damn, fine coffee, but the Grumpy Gertrudes behind the counter spoiled the mood.

I stopped in 10/31 around 2:30pm. The young woman with blonde/orangish hair was having an apparent bad day? I asked for something LIKE, an iced shaken espresso. And she said "well we're not Starbucks and we don't have brown sugar oat milk. First, I never insinuated I wanted Starbucks because if I did I would have driven up the road, I was trying to support a local business. Two, I never mentioned anything about brown sugar oat milk. I said just an espresso over ice with some cream is fine. And she seemed bothered that I was even asking for a drink. She made it and when I got my drink she just tossed it on the counter and said here you go. Okay so I took my drink, tasted it and I can taste the grinds from the espresso machine. It honestly sucked. For $3.65 I won't throw it away but I definitely went up the street to Starbucks and got a much better tasting coffee, smiling and nice baristas that didn't act like they hated their job. After I compared the both drinks I tossed the drink from Red Bee: I would love to support local business, but if owners are going to keep her employed- no one is going to want to stop in and support them with an attitude that she carries. Customer services goes along ways. read more

The coffee is great and people are always friendly. The issue I have is with how they serve their cold brew. They throw in so much ice that you barely get any before it's all gone. Went there on 7/21/2018 and got a medium cold brew for nearly $6 only to realize when I got home that 80% of it is ice. Real shame, but I'll still be back - not for coldbrew. read more

I have totally loved this place as soon as it opened and it continues to amaze me with how they keep adding new menu items (I guess they don't want their regulars to get bored...LOL) that are so yummy. Coffee shop is a bit small for my taste, but the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. Because of that hospitality a number of locals frequent this establishment. Close to the beach, with ample parking, and outdoor seating The Bee has a lot going for it. Unfortunately the cappuccino I ordered wasn't hot, more like warm, lukewarm...meh. I also had a lemon bar, it was decent but I would definitely recommend you try something else on the menu if you want to munch on something. read more

I would give this place a thousand stars if available. Consistency is key to bringing me back. If I'm going to spend $4 for a coffee drink it best be the best! Red Bee by far offers the most consistent latte ever. Don't believe anyone in Arroyo Grande can beat them. I'll keep coming back. Plus super friendly staff! read more

What an awesome little coffee shop. The service was really friendly and attentive, showing a genuine interest in who we were. The breakfast Panini and the flourless chocolate cake a a must and go really well with the exceptional coffee. Great seating area in the sun or under cover as well as inside, and super easy with kids. Definitely recommend this to any locals or travellers looking for a great coffee! read more

My husband and I came here because someone referenced us to come here. It's a small little coffee shop that is so sweet and cozy inside. It's right on the corner of the street, with a nice little outside area to sit. My husband got a caramel latte with a cute little foam design. I got the dirty chai latte with almond milk and it was really good! It's more of a spicy chai but still yummy! read more

I swung in for a latte before I caught the train to Santa Barbara. The latte was perfect. Quiet, cozy place with friendly staff. Also a ridiculously clean bathroom, which I'm glad I used before I made it to the train station because I didn't see any there. read more

Thank you Red Bee, for another lovely morning. I came in today with the plan to get a cup of coffee and a pastry to take to the beach. I got a beautiful rich cup of coffee, and a morning bun. Both were excellent, just what I needed. Drove a block down to Pismo Beach and sat on a dune watching the waves roll in. What an idyllic morning. So grateful to have such a wonderful coffee house right there next to the beach. read more

We were looking for a hip coffee place in Pismo Beach area and found this gem thru Yelp. Our barista was quite talented and made us amazing honey lavender lattes. Cute little shop that offers a cool and calm ambiance. Lots of options to choose from ranging from traditional cafe lattes to kombucha on tap. Great space for getting work done on your laptop. The barista was very helpful and had a contagiously positive attitude. Although I didn't order any, I noticed a wide variety of snacks and sandwiches offered on the menu--next time I'm in town I will have to try one! read more

This place is so nice. Love the chai tea and the panini's are REALLY good! I had the pastrami that comes with oregano, blue cheese and fig. It was delicious and the price was good too. I met Crosby and he's genuinely a nice guy and talks to all his customers. This will be a regular stop for me when I have to do some work on the go with my laptop. read more

My family and I are camping down the street in our motor home. We unfortunately don't have a car so we walked about a mile, we noticed they're closing at 4pm so we hurried up. We arrive at 3:55 and they have the door locked already. In my opinion, this is bad business. When a company has open operating hours, they should be offering services during that time. read more

What a shame no social distancing practices followed AT ALL!!! Stopped by yesterday for a cup of Joe and there were at least 15 customers and 3 employees inside and no masks , no gloves, no distancing. With all the data and information out there the owners fail to protect their community members. read more

We got tea, cappuccino, hot chocolate and didn't get any complaints from anyone (husband and kid) :) Didn't get any baked goods and would have loved to utilize the patio but it was super rainy so we couldn't! In a part of town known for homeless derelicts lies a coffee shop where everyone is beautiful--except for the lady with the gross dog that peed on the patio right in front of the entrance to the shop. I was impressed with the place. I met a friend there and while I waited I noticed joggers going by (all of them fit and beautiful) lovely people coming in and enjoying the environment and nice people working here. It was strange that I saw zero bums walk by. I think it's a magical place. read more

Meet the Business Owner: Julie V.

Micah and Julie Van Bogelen have been residents of Grover Beach for 22 years. They bought Red Bee Coffee in May 2020. Having been patrons of Red Bee and seeing how much their family and locals loved it, they were excited to make Red Bee a part of their family.

Somehow they really do blend together. Now one would expect the drink to be more green or pink somehow but it's pretty natural, which makes sense with the overall vibe of the place. No artificial colorings or flavorings here. Ham & cheese: The pastries seem to rotate so there isn't a set food menu. They had an assortment of pastries available and my preference leans more savory so a toasted ham and cheese was perfect for me for lunch. Service was friendly and informative - they have a pretty extensive menu but the staff know the menu and can offer recommendations. The ambiance is really what would deter me from coming back. Personally, it's just not my vibe, feels a little bit claustrophobic like I'm in a old beachside cottage or mini barn. The floors are worn and tired and pained this jarring shade of teal. The plate my ham and cheese was served on was a similar shade. Blue is not a color that triggers appetite traditionally so I'm curious as to why this choice was made. If I were to come back I'd probably either sit outside or take my drink to go. Really a bummer because the latte was so good. But again, just personal preference.

You could just apologize for the inconvenience and the misunderstanding and be more consistent with your rules in the future so situations like this don't occur.

Wow! One of my new favorite coffee shops!! An absolutely delicious cappuccino and all the baked goods were clearly homemade and delicious. This is the only coffee shop in Grover Beach as far as I am concerned. They brew Klatch Coffee correctly, their food items are fresh and delicious, and there is enough room to feel cozy but not cramped. The patio is a nice option too if it is warm outside. read more
