I started with the Shrimp Summer Roll app, packed with shredded lettuce, rice noodles, and three plump shrimp. The brown hoisin peanut sauce added flavor to the basic but fresh roll. My Flying Shrimp Red Bowl Signature entree featured fresh, crispy but cooked veggies submerged with healthy amounts of both shrimp and chicken. The spicy Hunan sauce hit the taste buds with perfect heat that complimented both veggies and meats. I admit that I added white rice at a point to temper the heat in my mouth, but I'd have it no other way. My wife loved her Broccoli Chicken dish in brown sauce. It had been a hot minute since I last visited Red Bowl, but my revisit was a pleasant surprise. I am never going to find my favorite Szechuan dishes here, but now I know that I can still have a tasty and fulfilling meal here. In terms of options, Red Bowl is truly an ASIAN Bistro. There are many different stir fries, noodles, and other dishes that range from Chinese to Thai and Japanese. My friend and I went the Chinese route. He ordered their seafood fried rice and I found the flavor to be really good! There was plenty of seafood in the dish and the fried rice was on the saltier side, just how I like it. I ordered their Mongolian Delight, because of the spice it had. There were large chunks of shrimp and chicken, with saltiness, spiciness, a little bit of sweet, it was quite good. It was a little oily, that was the only bad thing. I had a buy one get one free coupon so I found the experience to be quite good, but without it, this place can be a bit expensive. I found the food here to be quite tasty, the service was prompt and friendly, and the ambience was warm welcoming and stylish. I got the Dragon and Phoenix and it was very good. I asked if it was spicy and they said no so I asked if they could make it spicy and they did and i think it made it so much better: the sushi was good. Tasty and came out quick. Got takeout from here recently and thought it was decent. Everything I tried (potstickers, sesame chicken, and egg rolls) were all passable - nothing extraordinary, but they got the job done. I would potentially come back here if I was craving some standard Chinese food, but I wouldn't drive out of my way, if that makes sense. read more

This place is absolutely awful. The wonton soup had absolutely no flavor. The pork in the pork fried rice looked and tasted like tiny little slimy link breakfast sausage. The manager did not care. It's a bit or miss kind of spot. Some days it's amazing and others not so much. My husband dubbed the pad Thai "meh" and today my sushi was also mid. The hostess is always kind but the server needs more support. I'd highly recommend Sushi 9 in Raleigh for a great experience. read more

We went there for Christmas Eve. This was the worst food we've ever had. Edamame was lukewarm, Calamari was like chewing on a rubber hose. Appetizers were small for the price! Drinks were watered down. My husband got a neat bourbon and the color was like a ginger ale and it tasted like water! Vodka tonic with lime and a splash of cranberry tasted like just cranberry juice! They clearly water down the drinks. Food portions were larger, but unfortunately the food was way too spicy (not indicated on the menu) and really greasy. I wanted asian food tonight and decided to try the Red Bowl Asian Bistro. The ambiance is nice and the waitress was friendly. We started with a crab Rangoon app and the dish was nice and crispy and the filling was filled with cream cheese but I would have liked a bit more cream cheese filling with each bite. I ordered the shrimp lettuce wraps and they were filled to the brim with shrimp and veggies. The sauce that came with the dish was creamy and delish. Our first time at this location, but it will not be the last. They were one of the few Asian places that was open at 4:00. They do have a lunch menu that looked good but we were too late, even though it was our lunch. We were seated quickly but had to wait an unusually long time for our waitress, as there was only one other table at the time. We ordered our drinks and they were brought quickly. Hot tea for me was in a nice pot that kept it hot. The menu is large and includes many different sushi options, appetizers, soups, and the usual offerings. The atmosphere is calming and relaxing, nicely decorated. Even the bathroom was nice and clean. I had a rice noodle dish with shrimp and chicken. It needed a little more flavor, so after a long wait I got some soy sauce. There's none on the tables. The other dish was shrimp and broccoli in a nice brown sauce with a choice of white or fried rice. I had a bite and liked it a lot. My review for here is 3.5 as the waitress was not busy but very hard to get her attention and did not check on us on her own or offer refills, etc. The food was a solid 4.0 so we will return, but it will be during lunch hours and hopefully get better service. read more

Another excellent meal nearly a month to the day of our first visit. This time I got the cashew shrimp bento box with fried rice, salad and ginger dressing, and a California roll. The cashew shrimp was sooo good I couldn't stop praising it. I asked for a bit more sauce and glad I did. It was delicious. The ginger dressing had a bit of a bite, at least for me, so I'd choose a different option next time. The sushi roll was big and very good. The portion size of each item was bigger than I thought it would be so I ended up bringing home a good amount of cashew shrimp and a ton of rice, but I managed to finish the sushi and salad just fine! Yes, I spelled that correctly because the portions, quality and flavors will take your tongue on a roller coaster thrill ride. The rolls we ordered were the Flaming Phoenix Roll; Volcano Roll; Wolfpack Roll. Each one was wonderful and I cannot pick a favorite. I'll be ordering from here again or going to visit to dine in now. I've read some reviews that were less than praiseworthy but I also noticed none of those reviews included sushi items. The sushi was good for 10.99 sushi. One of the spicy rolls was a lot spicy than the other. I really liked the one that had the slight crunch to it, I believe it was the spicy salmon one, which was my favorite. The spicy crab was the other, which was also good. The service was a little slow. I was the only one there so I was a little surprised. I would like to try their Japanese options as these may be better than the sushi there. My toddler loves the fried tofu, so that's a win. But I ordered the spicy Mongolian beef and it was mostly onions. I generally appreciate a high ratio of vegetables to meat but there was hardly any meat in it, and hardly any variety of vegetables. I mostly ate onions in some decent tasting sauce. Recently ate here for our second time and I will say, the food is actually pretty good. The first time we went, the food was impressive for the price but service was a bit slow but still good. This most recent visit though, while the food was good yet again, the service is in need of improvement. We barely saw the waitress and had long waits to even get our water. We attempted to get her attention to get our check and it was as though she went out of her way to avoid even looking our way. We sat for quite a while and never saw her so had to request our check from a gentleman behind the counter. No, it was not overly busy. Unfortunately this is likely one of the worst service experiences we've had but at least the food was good. The lack of service is the reason for lower stars.
