This place is located on Archibald and Baseline in the same parking lot as 99 Ranch Market and Dollar Tree. Parking is shared but plentiful. My husband and I tried this place for the first time and the experience was below average. When walking in 2 workers saw us and continued chatting. We weren't sure if we should sit ourselves or if we were supposed to be seated. When the 2 workers who saw us walked to the back we decided to grab menus from the counter and find a seat. Once seated the waitress was kind and attentive. Food was also below average. The Kung Pao Chicken and Orange Chicken tasted the same except one has crisper chicken with peanuts (Kung Pao) and the other was drenched in the same sauce over a bed of brocolli. Flavor was off. Didn't finish these dishes at all. The combination fried rice and beef with cauliflower dry pot on the other hand did have really good flavor. We've dined here twice so far and I can't wait to go back and try other items. Finally found a good Chinese restaurant close to my new home. Everything we've tried has been really tasty! Atmosphere: Really casual family style restaurant. They have booths and larger round tables to accommodate parties of all sizes. Service: Eh.. could be better. It takes some effort to get staff's attention sometimes, but nothing major. Food: Totally delicious! Flavorful and spicy, just as we requested. Yesterday we ordered from this place and the food was just bad the Mongolian beef had no flavor whatsoever completely bland, the noodles with shrimp looked like they got the noodles from the fridge warm them up and throw a couple of shrimp and a couple of pieces of cabbage on top also zero flavor but the worst was the sesame chicken it taste old and it is the exact same chicken that they use for the orange chicken the only difference is that they sprinkle a little bit of sesame seeds on top also came drowning in a liquid (I cannot call it sauce) that was tasteless just a very bad experience. read more

The xiou long bao was already punctured but there was no broth in the container so I'm wondering if there was ever any broth in them. They were very dry and the flavor was also way off. Now one of my favorite Chinese restaurants in the IE! So you know its authentic when you are one of the few patrons that is speaking English. When I go into a restaurant my 1st impression is made by who is eating inside(just something my mind makes me do). I love all ethnic types of food and I always hope the ethnicity of the food is enjoyed by people of the same background. The menu is in English & Chinese but when you place your order the waiter/waitress writes in Chinese because they told me the cooks understand best this way. So I have been looking for a good Chinese restaurant in my area so what better way to check than Yelp, which I did. Saw that this place had good reviews so decided to try it. It's Sichuan Chinese which is rare to find(lots of more spicy dishes) as most Chinese places are either Mandarin/Cantonese( sweet light dishes). Man, the food was great! Everything we tried (I've now been 3 times) is full of flavor. Each dish has its own unique flavor. You can tell the guy in the back is tossing in a wok cause the food, like noodle dishes, are a bit greasy with a little spice(which I love), packed with flavor by being mixed together just perfectly. The only downfall is that they don't understand English very well so it gets a bit challenging when trying to communicate. I know now I just point to the number of the dish. The food is great and so is the service. I almost gave them 5 stars because the juicy pork dumplings soup. I wish the soup was better prepared because when it was served, the soup was all popped. So every bite was missing some soup. There was little to none. Other than that all the dishes I ordered here were good so far. My favorite was the chicken with szechuan spice. It was the right amount of spice and the chicken was crispy. The pork with bean curd and veggies was good and light. It almost looked vegetarian. I ordered Mapo tofu w/ rice and scallion pancakes ... and I haven't changed my order since. After my first time, I brought my little sister with me and she's hooked as well. She really enjoyed the general tso's chicken and the twice cooked pork. I live in Los Angeles but every time I'm home in Rancho, my little sister and I eat at red chili house. We got Kung Pao Chicken, Orange Chicken, Chef's Special Fried Rice, Deep Fried Fish with Pepper and Cumin, and Vegetable Egg Rolls. They were running a buy one get one free special for the fried rice and orange chicken. The orange chicken was really gross. The meat tasted tough, chewy, and old. We didn't eat more than a piece or two. Perhaps this was why they had the special, to get rid of old meat? The fried rice looked nothing like the photos on Yelp. There was no egg, very few peas and a few pieces of pork, chicken and beef. It was bland and boring. The egg rolls were mushy on the inside. The only decent dishes were the Kung Pao Chicken and Fish. My partner and I have been here several times. We have had good experiences here each time. Some of my favorites are the fish hot pot, beef roll, pork in garlic sauce, boiled chicken in garlic sauce. They used to have this pork neck dish that was absolutely amazing. I also recommend the Kung Pao tofu. The tofu is crispy, the sauce is spicy slightly sweet and tangy. I have never had problems with the service. The people here are very nice and efficient. Some of them don't speak English fluently, and that's why they are a little reserved. Some of them speak multiple Chinese dialects and are happy to chat with you. Unfortunately, my Chinese is very limited. The restaurant is really clean, too. read more

I really like this place. Most of the dishes are spicy, of course--the name in Chinese more or less translates to "Sichuan Hunan Garden," so expect most dishes to have a lot of red in them from all the chili peppers. You can ask for things to be hotter or milder, though. The lamb chop dish is one of the best. Don't overlook the cold appetizers, though, in the glass case by the cash register. The chicken feet are OK, but the smoked chicken (not spicy), sliced beef, pig ear, and chicken gizzards are all good. Here's what we ordered: Spicy chicken cubes. A pretty big dish. The chicken is very crispy. Comes with lots of numbing spice which I love. Deep fried pork intestines. Also very crispy but a bit more oily than the chicken. The oil gives a lot of flavor though. Wontons in spicy sauce. Tasted really good. Most sichuan places don't mess this up. Dan Dan noodles. I wanted Chinese food and remembered this place, 7 years ago I gave a glowing review, we came back once after that and didn't go back. Today was such a disappointment. We ordered honey walnut shrimp, lettuce cups, soup dumplings and green onion pancakes. The pancakes were okay but the rest was horrible. The shrimp was covered with some canned goo, the lettuce cups were mush and the soup dumplings utterly dry inside. This place looks run down. Been looking forward to trying this place for a while now, ever since it opened. Considering that I love the heat from thai food, I was really hoping to like the heat and use of chilis from this place. I placed a pick up order over the phone since they don't have delivery. And I ordered the following: 1. Local flavored lamb- the lamb was cooked well. Tender. Spicy. But the flavors were really mild, almost nonexistent. 2. Honey walnut shrimp- their shrimp is not the crispy type but rather the one encased in batter, so it's not crunchy. It was good. The thick mayo sauce tasted good as well. 3. Deep fried chicken cube- almost like popcorn chicken. Small bits of chicken deep fried with a thick outer coating, thus contributing to the crunch. Tad on the dry side, would've been nice if there was a sauce to it. Half the dish was covered in peppers which I get (its in the name), but really did nothing to enhance the flavor. 4. Pig ear- this was good. A cold appetizer type dish. Perfect blend of gooey from the gelatin and crunch from the cartilage. They give you a huge heap of it too!! 5. Mongolian beef- beef was cooked well. But that was about it. Very bland in favor. At least it was tender? 6. Sweet rice ball soup- almost like a desert. As the name indicates, there's a hint of sweetness to it. Thick soup, with little rice mochi balls. Great way to end the meal. 7. Mapo tofu- spicy, tofu cubes in a spicy sauce that goes well with freshly steamed rice. Overall the food was alright. 1 thing thst peeved me off was that they didn't include white rice with any of these dishes. Its a chinese restaurant, you would think that white rice would be complimentary. Also flavors were all very mild. So mild that it was bordering on blandness. Im sure you can have them increase the heat level, but a little use of salt, maybe some MSG or more MSG wouldn't hurt. Had their food a couple times. The first time was 4 years ago, and the staff was not friendly. Slighted irritated with me when I asked questions about their Dan Dan noodles. Since it was 4 years ago, I don't remember the food much back then except the xiao long bao wasn't bad. Fast forward to now. Because of the times of course I ordered take out via Grubhub. It got to my house in a timely matter. I realized I forgot to check if they added egg to their salt and pepper spare ribs so I called the restaurant to ask before giving it to my son (who is allergic to egg whites). The man who answered said he wasn't sure and placed me on hold to ask the chef. Came back and said yes, they do add egg to the spare ribs as a binding agent for the ribs. He said he understands my question because his nephew or someone in his family has a food allergy too and that his family also has to check on things. I appreciated the time he took to find out for me and how he was able to empathize. Small thing on his end but it's little sprinkles of unintentional kindness that rekindle my trust in humanity. Thanks for that, whoever you are. On to the food. Not the BEST but did satisfy us. Wish they had more meat in the spare ribs. Seems they add shrimp chips as a filler. The house fried rice was ok. Green beans were delish. The cold spicy noodles - eh, have had better. The best thing we got I would say is the honey walnut shrimp. Shrimps were big and the batter was perfectly fried. Decided to stop by here on my back from Ontario and was surprised that I never learned about this place nor the entire shopping center where it is located, filled with Chinese and Korean eateries. The service is good here, and at least one of the waiters is fluent in English. The food, for the most part, is quite good. I had the Cold Jelly Noodles in Chili Oil, which was nice and spicy. Do wished that some grounded Sichuan peppercorns sprinkled on top would have provided that extra kick and the numbing sensation. The Vegetable Dry Hot Pot was pretty sizeable and had a good variety of vegetables in it. It was nice and spicy from the chilis and from the Sichuan peppercorns. Only negative was the puddle of oil that collected at the bottom of the pot. Then the vegetables just get greasy, having soaked up the oil. The only dish that was a miss to me, particularly with the authenticity of the dish, was the Kung Pao Chicken. I ordered it mild thinking that my family would then be able to enjoy the leftovers I get for them. Well, dialing down the spice level made the dish a bit on the sweet side, and with the chicken cubes tossed in flour before being wok fried. Toss the cubes in the sauce, peanuts and dried chilis, and you have something that tasted more like General Tso's Chicken than Kung Pao Chicken.
