I got a flyer placed on my door saying 50% sushi. This interested me. I ordered $40 worth. Got 6 rolls, hibachi, and spring rolls. The "hot" food all arrived cold. Cold spongey spring rolls are not appetizing. The salad that came with the meal had 1 millimeter thin slice of tomato on it. Their teriyaki is just a watered down version of what it should be. On top of it they had to call and ask what I ordered online then take well over an hour to get to my house. There is plenty of good food in Denver, get sushi some place else. read more

I went here for lunch on a Thursday. I ordered 4 pieces of yellowtail nigiri, the king roll, cucumber salad and miso soup. They didnt take my drink order when I first sat down as you would normally expect, and I even had to flag down the waitress after she started to walk away from taking my food order before I could ask for something to drink. The soup was good, and the salad was uninspiring and bland (only cucumber chunks and sesame seeds and a little soy). The king roll was what I ate the most of, and it was alright, but the nigiri. Oh that nigiri. As soon as it came to my table I was skeptical about it. The edges seemed dry and browning, and there were unattractive black veins running through the fish, which in all my years of eating yellow tail sashimi I have NEVER seen. I ate once piece, found it to be dry and flavorless, and asked it to be removed from my check. The manager was nice enough about it I suppose, didn't apologize or anything just removed it. I tried ordering teriyaki chicken but the dinner bowl comes with California rolls and they wouldn't leave the California rolls off (I'm allergic to seafood). I'm not sure why it's so hard but they refused to make the order without California rolls. So I had to order the hibachi bowl with a side of teriyaki sauce. The description was broiled chicken on top of white rice. What I got was a handful of cubed chicken mixed in with cooked vegetables and a side of white rice. It was 90% vegetables and 10% chicken. Both times, I've especially loved the GoGo Girl Roll, The Bagel Roll, The Volcano Roll, The Keystone, & (most recently) the Mochi Ice cream/Spicy Sake! The staff is attentive, easy going, & a genuine pleasure. Paul especially makes for a fun time. The only reason I have yet to give a 5 star rating, is because I simply havent gone enough yet to judge the concistency of quality. Not a ton of flavor, but it's a good start to the meal. The sushi is decent. There is no roll that I would recommend. The menu is huge, and there is a picture of everything. Which I am not sure if that makes it easier or harder to pick because I want EVERYTHING. I am the type of person who goes out for sushi, and orders the entire menu without a care for how much it costs. Sure, rent is due soon, but tonight is sushi night. I enjoyed the dinner here. As an asian, I must say, their sushi is delicious. They offer a variety of specialty rolls as well as a hibachi grill option. I opted for the hibachi grill which comes with salad and miso soup. The dressing on the salad was unique. I very much enjoyed it. They have great starter options like seaweed salad, gyoza (my favorite), and crab cheese wontons. The starters are pretty large servings, so don't fill up too quickly! The place is a nice hole in the wall setting. There's plenty of seating and they accommodate groups very well. The bathrooms were clean. The place seems to have a couple of regulars that don't have a problem striking up conversation. I think it goes well with the ambiance. Wow. We stopped in on the way to an event and were somewhat dubious - our usual reaction to a sushi place that hasn't been recommended to us. However the food was fantastic. We stuck with favorite rolls for comparison (spider, salmon skin, etc.) and an order of Tako. The salmon skin was one of the best I have had in Denver. In A Nutshell: 70% the quality of premium sushi for 50% the price! In terms of quality I would give it a 3, if I were being really critical maybe a 2.5, but I don't think of this as the place to go for premium sushi. If you want top notch sushi go to Sushi Den, but don't be surprised to walk away with $60 to$100 less in your wallet (I eat a lot of sushi). Here you can get the same amount of food for half the cost, while the quality drops by only about 30%. Ironically, I've only been there once for lunch when I first moved to Denver and have been consistently ordering delivery ever since. Sushi dinner for 4, every tummy stuffed for that cheap. Their chicken teriyaki is tender and appears to be of high quality compared to other Japanese restaurants, their seaweed salad is fresh and dressed perfectly. They artfully present their rolls with delicious sauces and other accoutrements. The services is so-so at best, they have some turn over it seems. I would call this my "go-to" sushi place. The servers and sushi chefs are always pleasant. They have a large selection of simple as well as creative rolls. I am not a huge fan of sashimi so I can only comment on the rolls. When you order 2 rolls it comes with a salad or a bowl of miso soup. I really appreciate that they serve low sodium soy sauce and I don't have to ask for it or forget and wake up the next day with swollen ankles. The prices are fantastic. After reading the reviews, I was quite skeptical about this place. I'm glad we decided to try it. It wasn't crowded, and we were seated immediately. We had 2-3 waitresses that were always stopping by to see if we needed anything. We started with the Heart Attack. It was delicious. The miso soup wasn't the best, but it wasn't bad. Then we had the Kiss Roll, Sunflower Roll, Volcano Roll and Ai Roll. We stuffed ourselves and had some to bring home for midnight snacks! The rolls are 50% off menu price, and for every 2 rolls you order, someone can have a free miso or salad. The rolls were good sized and tasted good. I really like that they offer so many different types of rolls. The Sunflower one (shrimp tempura, green leaves and cucumber wrapped in soy paper, topped with kiwi, mango and kiwi sauce) was delicious!! The service was absolutely amazing. They were very friendly and made sure my drinks were always refilled. I got exactly what I ordered and pretty quickly. Plus they speak English. Over all, if you are not picky about your fish, this is a great value and you will have a great dinner. If you are more particular about your sushi as I am, you will enjoy their prices. I loved that the sushi was 50% off. Much cheaper than other sushi restaurants. I ordered the Philadelphia roll and the Mt. Fuji roll. The Philadelphia roll was fresh and well worth the $3.50. The Mt. Fuji roll wasn't a favorite of mine only because it wasn't a roll. It's bricks of rice with a small amount of the fish and spicy mayo on top. Way too much rice for my liking. However, it was fresh. You can't beat the price and what's even better is that it's a GREAT value to boot. The sushi is good. I worried that I was rolling the dice with the quality but I had nothing to worry about. Now, I'm not an eel fan so the sushi is based on salmon, tuna and shrimp so I can't speak to other fish. And they were really quick. I ordered through Eat24 and the driver was rude so that's one star taken away. I just have no sympathy for rude drivers or servers - I understand they have a hard job but don't take it out on customers that have nothing to do with their bad mood.
