Plus, lots of free parking (huge win for DT Renton). The space itself is quirky in the best way -- cozy, charming, and just feels good to be in. We ordered the Crispy Pork Shank and WOW. So tender and flavorful, and that creamy mushroom orzo + rosemary cream combo is unreal. Also had the Bleu Cheese & Caramelized Onion Steak Frites -- perfectly cooked, rich, and super satisfying with those fries. Drinks were on point too -- solid beer on tap and a really good Cabernet. This place was surprisingly crowded for a weekday, so my friend and I were glad we made a reservation ahead of time. We were immediately intrigued because it is a popular recommended spot, and it has a genuinely warm, welcoming atmosphere since the restaurant is inside an actual house. Our server was wonderful, being very patient and giving us great recommendations since it was our first time. We ended up ordering the Korean chicken wings along with a special they were running: a cranberry brie sandwich with sweet potato fries. We also both ordered their raspberry mule, which paired well with the meal. Because we enjoyed everything so much, we decided to get dessert. Tip: make sure you ask what the options are, as we couldn't find them on the menu. Overall, this was a great dinner spot. Came here on a Wednesday evening with a reservation and got greeted and seated quickly. The ambiance is very cozy and nicely decorated. I can just tell that the building has a lot of history. Our server was very friendly and good came out at a decent pace. Food was pretty good. We ordered the pork belly and kimchi tacos as our appetizers. It was very good, especially the pork belly, it had a nice smoky flavor. One complaint is they were a bit wet/drippy. We ordered the crispy pork shank as well. My favorite of everything we ate. Very crispy and juicy, not dry at all. We also got the wagyu burger. It was good, but it was also a bit wet and drippy. Also the burger was a bit too sweet with the barbecue sauce. Fries were pretty solid though. Everything came out to a little over $100 (we also ordered a limeade). Which was on the expensive side. Red House is exactly what it is - a 100+ year old red house that is a restaurant. There's a big parking lot in front so it's easy to find a spot. The ambiance of Red House is quaint and homey. Service was good and no issues. I was able to try a few items but every dish did not hit. Tequila shrimp: the shrimp wasn't too bad. They were juicy and came with garlic bread. Crispy pork shank: when the dish arrived, we knew it was overdone. It was charred. The meat was dry and tough. The risotto that the shank sat on was good but after eating a few bites, the garlic was too overpowering. Definitely would not recommend this dish at all. Wagyu burger: I liked the burger patty itself but the bacon jam really overpowered everything. The entire burger ended up being super sweet and you couldn't taste anything other than sugar. Mac and cheese (with bacon): protein is an extra cost but I added in bacon. The bacon was mixed throughout the entire dish but I couldn't really taste bacon flavor. The dish was very creamy but one note. Overall, everything was expensive and not good. Basically, every dish had one overpowering note. Unfortunately, I wouldn't come back again. read more

Everything was cooked nicely too. I only wish the bread would've been toasted a bit better (could've had more crunch to it), but a great experience overall. Third time to come Back to this place and loved it each time! This time we took our young adult kids and they, too, approved! Wagyu Burgers, fried chicken sandwich, Parmesan crusted chicken breast, Mac n cheese. All generous portions, with excellent sides, so filling and so satisfying. The ambiance was just right, busy but honey and still allowing for conversation: this place is always a full house, but servers are kind, attentive and really good, there was a bit of a wait from ordering to getting the food on the table, but it was worth the wait. I lived in Renton for over 20 years and had never dined at Red House and I regret it. I arranged a group dinner here after being tasked because the reviews were so positive and I had short notice. It was one of those eeek moments as I had thought there would be five people and then was told nope, there was 12 I needed to make reservations for. I reached out to a few restaurants where either they had no availability or required a dollar amount above my authorized limit. When I reached out to the Red House I received a completely different response. They were so welcoming and friendly! You know those situations where you're stressed but you talk to someone who is so relaxed and confident you immediately relax? It was like that. They provided options if my party size grew larger and we kept in contact via e-mail. Day of the dinner came and everyone found parking easily. The large nearby lot is one of the most convenient I've seen in that area of Renton. We were seated in one of the side rooms and had a blast! Now, I won't go too much into what we ate because they have a seasonal menu keeping everything fresh and current. We ordered multiple appetizers and various entrees. Every person loved their meal. I was astounded as often it is hard to please a few people and near impossible over ten, but the team was very happy. What a cute place. Its a super old house, built in the 1920s, you can still see the original floor. Seating is divided by what used to be rooms and they have an upstairs as well. Only downside is they can only accommodate groups of 8 or less. the lunch menu isn't as large as the dinner menu but still enough choices for even the pickiest eater. I opted for a brie grilled cheese with this amazing berry compote. Absolutely delicious. Choice of sides were fries, sweet potato fries or a salad. My friend got a wedge salad and you should have seen the size of it. Two huge wedges with chicken and other toppings. Needless to say she could only eat half. they have a bar as well although since it was lunch with had iced tea. Felt sort of bad for the restaurant since there is construction right in front and the server said it would continue until May. We were challenged because I'm vegan and my friend has several food allergies, so there wasn't much we could have. My only options were two salads, removing the cheese. I got the Winter Salad without cheese and asked if they could add the chickpeas from the Poached Pear Salad, which they did but charged me $2 for it. Set up in an actual house in a Renton neighborhood, each room in the Red House feels intimate and inviting, even when the house is packed on a busy night. The waiters and waitresses are unfailingly nice, and the food and drink on offer are excellent. While I was slightly disappointed to learn that the "basket of Brussels" I'd seen in pictures was a seasonal dish and not available when I was there, the grilled pork chop with mashed potatoes and salad I had more than made up for it - flavorful and filling.
