I'll admit it. I was sucked into Red Lobster because of those ridiculously decadent commercials I see on the Food Network during commercial breaks while watching Paula's Best Dishes, 30 Minute Meals, and a variety of my other favorite Food Network shows. There's something to be said for advertising on a channel that prides itself in making good, fresh, tasty cuisine accessible to anyone who pays for basic cable or more. That being said, when I went in and plopped down close to $30 for the "Ultimate Feast," which consisted of a lobster tail, snow crab legs, shrimp scampi and battered and fried shrimp, with broccoli, I was expecting something fresh, steaming hot, and as delicious as the commercials made it out to be. What a thorough disappointment. My bf and I got the same thing as an entree, as well as the lobster, seafood, and artichoke dip. Our entrees were awful. Cat food is paying it a compliment. The lobster and crab were cold, tough, and discolored. I'm pretty sure both had been frozen. The shrimp were slathered in butter and/or batter, and tasteless. I'd say the best things I had there were my dressing-smothered caesar salad and the Cheddar Bay Biscuits, which would have probably cost me $2 had I had those alone. I know there aren't many places to eat in Vallejo, and this place makes me understand why. It's not even worth mentioning except to inform everyone to flee FAR FAR away from here. Awful customer service hands down. It took about 15 minutes for anyone to even acknowledge us in a restaurant that only had about 15 people in it including the staff, my boy, and I. When we finally got our orders taken it took forever to get the food. The food itself was a completely separate yet an equally worse story. So we hit Red Lobster on almost every layer. Got an appetizer, a bowl of soup, and 2 separate entrée courses. First of all the drinks were WHACK. Went to get the usual raspberry lemonade and 2 waters, an easy order with almost no way to have error, yet what we received were 4 waters one of which carried a slight lemonade flavor, but was too watered down to even tell. After another 10 minutes we received the complimentary cheddar bay biscuits, which thankfully was THE BEST THING THERE. Shortly after got the lobster artichoke chip dip appetizer, which comprised of some seafood medley and lots of oil and some red and white chips to help balance the oil flavor. And aside from the watery clam chowder, the rest of the meal consisted of mediocre flavors drenched in an endless supply of oil and margarine. We were already mad before we even got started, luckily for us Ashley was AMAZING, she did turned our experience from a negative to a positive. We were a party of 15, and everyone knows that if you go with your family then most likely you are going to go and have conversations with everyone but the host did not mention that they would not be putting our tables together and after waiting for an hour we get taken to our tables that weren't together, we just decided to eat there since we had already waited. This Red Lobster is so damn slow. The only reason for me to order from here is because I'm craving lobster, garlic noodles, crab... And I always order to go 15 mins before I get there and I still have o wait a good 30-45 mins for the food! And it's only 1 server/bartender/host/to go person... Wtf? It is usually our go to restaurant, for celebration but tonight I was so dissapointed. The food was good, we ordered the salmon, lobster tail, shrimp with quinoa rice & coleslaw, wagyu burger with mash potato & key lime pie for dessert & top shelf long island tea. They had the top shelf long island tea ad on their entrance that it will be served in a tall lighthouse glass to be kept. I was celebrating a memorable occasion that I was happy to commemorate with that glass. To my disappointment, it was served in a regular glass they use to serve the water or soda. I mentioned it to the waiter who served our drinks, he said they are out of the lighthouse glass & that it's been a while they haven't received shipment of that kind of glass. On our way out I also I asked the host if they were out of the glass, she said she hasn't seen any shipment in a while. Then, why do they still advertized it on their front entrance? This is a false advertisement! They should at least offer a rain check for the glass. read more

I'd never eaten at a Red Lobster before and just the cheddar biscuits were enough to make me happy! Most of their menu seemed overpriced for the quality and quantity of food that you get but I did the 4 course deal for $15.99 which worked out to be okay. You get a choice of soup (3 options), salad (2 options), entree (I think 7 options), and dessert (3 options) for $15.99. Surprisingly there was a bit of a wait to be seated, but once we ordered the food was served very quickly which made up for the initial wait. I am not a fan of sea food, so there fore I had order chicken alfredo. A lady that works there had a little TOO MUCH energy. Which makes the thing she say is "cool" yet weird. But again with customer service, it was good. Since I am not a sea food fan, I ordered the chicken alfredo thangy (it was damn near $17). First time at a Red Lobster. It was an underwhelming experience. We had a party of 9 and the food was hit and miss...mainly misses. 2 people ordered the clam chowder instead of a salad. I mean, it's a seafood restaurant, how can it go bad? You guess it, it's bad. Overly salty and no clam taste! It's almost as if you open a can of Progresso clam chowder and served it. Entree is lobster for 2 people. It's OVERCOOKED. If you overcook lobster, you might as well each chicken. It's a delicate seafood and it has to be just right. Again, very disappointed at the quality, for what I thought should be their specialty and should be executed with perfection. One person got the pasta. She complained it was bland and overloaded with cheese and cream without other flavors. Again, something I don't understand. How hard is it to add some fresh herbs and add additional layers off flavor?! The worst dish at Olive Garden would have been better than this pasta dish my sister-in-law ordered. On the positive side, the grilled items were quite good...the vegetables. the steaks, and the prawns. If all dishes were like this, I would have given a 4. Oh well. When I was a kid, Red Lobster was a fancy spot for dinner. Birthdays, new jobs, graduations, it was the place to go. And by fancy, I mean you dressed up to go and it was kind of an occasion. Yes, perhaps we weren't very sophisticated or cultured at the time, but Red Lobster will always evoke those feelings of excitement for me, of going to a nice dinner with the adults, where you might get to try a sip of wine. Looking back through the rosy lenses of childhood, I seem to remember that everyone else in the restaurant was also dressed up and folks were drinking wine or martinis and just being all-around high-falutin'. Though really, who's to say that that wasn't the case and that standards of dress and behavior at Red Lobsters have taken quite a turn for the worse, with Victoria's Secret "Angel" on-the-bum sweatpants and Apple-Cosmo-Choco-Tinis being the order of the day? Anyway, if you are not going to Red Lobster for the ambiance or to relive childhood glories, the highlights of the menu are as follows: - The cheddar biscuits are manna from heaven and each one will shorten your lifespan by a approximately one year. It is worth it. - Shrimp cocktail is also quite awesome, the shrimp have a nice flavor and texture and the cocktail sauce is actually some of the best we've ever had. - The garlic mashed potatoes and fried shrimp are quite fine, no complaints. The baked potato is excellent and has totally changed my outlook on baked potatoes. Everything else, the shrimp scampi, lobster, crab, was just ok, nothing was bad, but not spectacular either. Next time you have a special occasion to celebrate, may I be so bold as to suggest Red Lobster? Oh, and cocktail apparel is HIGHLY encouraged. read more

She made our dining experience great to where we'd love to have her every time we come here. You can tell she has many experience with customer service by how she serves her guests. Convenient place to come to if you need a quick seafood place. However, I usually come here on my lunch break which is only an hour long, and it's usually not enough time for this place. Their service is extremely slow, more so during lunch hours I've noticed. They have 2 item lunch combos that are good portions and come with salads. I think their prices went up a little because I swear this $10.75 combo used to be $9.99. I always have to get lobster bisque because it's so good. Where else can you find decent lobster bisque around here? They have a nice selection of beverages and desserts. Red Lobster is one of those chains that are generally pretty consistent amongst their different locations as far as food and everything else. It is usually decent food. It's no "high end" establishment, but again, their "pro" is that they are usually predictable. I've been to this particular location 3 times within the last 6 months. The first visit was the best. The food was good and the service was good. Absolutely zero complaints! The second time, my party of four was sat in the back room of the restaurant. It was not comfortable. I feel like that's where they seat their "loud" crowd. So while the food was still decent and so was the service, our dining neighbors all around us were not comfortable. This most recent time I went, I have no idea what happened. Off night overall, the food wasn't consistent and good like normal. But ultimately it was the waitress that was the WORST. We never saw her again after she brought our drinks and took our food order. It took 35 minutes for our drinks to come out. The food took longer. Not all of our appetizer salads and soups were brought out at the same time and neither were our entrees. They weren't even brought by our waitress. We never saw her again until after we had finished eating and finally complained to the manager. Suddenly there she was asking how everything was. And although the food and service were both sub-par this night, Sara, the manager, really stepped it up to make sure the situation was corrected. She apologized for everything and, although it wouldn't make our experience that night "better", she did discount our overall bill. So I will most likely be back. This place has never been good on service, but today was absolutely embarrassing. I asked my sister to phone in an order at 4...she was told she couldn't until 4:30. She returned a call at 4:30 and was on hold for over 10 minutes. By this time, I already arrived to pick up the order (at 4:47)....there were more employees wandering around in the bar than customers. One employee said " i will have someone help you in a minute. I asked for a manager and was told he was in a meeting but someone would help me shortly. 5 minutes later, another employee said she'd be with me in a few minutes. For a premium priced casual dining experience...the service at this store sucks... For full transparency, I have never left a yelp review ever, i appreciate all restaurants have challenges. This is a review for a Thursday night, 6pm. It was kinda like IHOP for seafood. I had all you can eat shrimp, and they were quite small and you could get it 6 different ways: Scampi (shrimp in butter) Parmesan (shrimp in butter with crusty parmesan on top) Shrimp fettucini (shrimp with buttery white sauce over pasta) Deep fried (shrimp with batter, deep fried) Coconut (shrimp with a VERY sweet coconut crust, deep fried) Grilled (about 7 shrimp on a skewer, grilled) The grilled shrimp was by far the 'best'.. It was not greasy and the flavor was actually good. My baked potato was good. Only downside is that it was crusted on the outside with rock salt. I know this is common for restaurants, but it's just not necessary. I scraped the salt off. The stuffed mushroom appetizer was edible but not that great. They are definitely pre-made, possibly frozen. The consistency was mushy and the flavor was about a 2 out of 5. The 'cheesy' biscuits were ok. They are definitely from a mix, and extremely rich. (we got a few baskets at our table, and none of the batches had that much cheese on them..) As for the service... it was Excellent!!
