When you first walk in the smell is real bad. The service was not bad but the food just ruined it. We ordered the lobster bisque soup and that put us off the entire meal. The lady was nice and sent it back and brought us another but it was still just as raw. My child could not eat because the food was raw. We also ordered a surf and turf meal and that wasn't any better. The lobster was raw it was slimy. And the filet was horrid, it was burnt and tasted bad. Then we ordered a linguini pasta with shrimp. The taste of the food was acceptable. The engagement of the waitress was appreciated. Did I say that the payment of the bill was awkward? At the end of meal, the server handed the mobile payment instrument. I had never paid a bill that way previously so I was not comfortable with that option. We tried to order online but could not get what we wanted so we called. The call center couldn't helped us so they transferred us to the store (230 Cypress Gardens Blvd Winter Haven, FL 33880). We tried to talk to them as well but the lady was rude to us and told us to go online and order. We ask to speak to a manager and put us on hold. We drove to the restaurant while on hold. We arrived at the restaurant still on hold for 18 minutes. The manager stated they didn't know about the call on hold. We placed a to go order and the manager said he would take about eight minutes to prepare our order and we continue to wait for additional 20 minutes before our food came out. Ordered lunch shrimp scampi. There was a lot of shrimp that was hot. However the ones on bottom were not cooked all the way. The bake potato was cold to the point the butter wouldn't melt. The best part of the meal was the biscuits fresh and hot. Robert the host was on top of his game, multiple tasking. Drinks were delivered great & at a timely manner. Ordered the Endless Shrimp. I ordered the Walt's for the first order and the Shrimp Linguini for the second order & thereafter. I believe the waitress either forgot to order the Linguini or ordered it late. When the 2nd order of shrimp finally arrived, it was Walt's. I reminded her of the Linguini. She said she understood. 3rd order came, it was Walt's again!! When I finally got the Linguini, my husband was full of having his correct meal. The sauce didn't taste the same, was a little peppery and looked a little lumpy like it didn't get heated or mixed long enough. The shrimp was bigger than normal (which could be explained -why- because they were out of popcorn shrimp.) By the end of a 2 1/2 hour meal which should have been for around 1 1/2 hours. In good conscious, I did leave a decent amount for the tip. However, I do blame the *MANAGER* at this location. For not properly training the staff and walking the floor areas to make sure everything was at a customer's satisfaction and assisting if needed. Instead, he sat in a corner booth occasionally going back & forth to the kitchen. Before we left, a couple of staff sat up an area for a table of 10 for arrival. Wanting to celebrate our 54th wedding anniversary, we chose the Red Lobster in, Winter Haven arriving around 4 pm. The Service was good as was our waiter. We both ordered fried fish and it was ediable but a bit greasy. Salads were great. Baked potatos appeared to be left over from lunch. We were in a bit of a rush as we had after dinner plans, so we finished our meals and left. While en route to our next destination, we both became very nauseous and were not feeling well. We then decided to head back home, which was a wise decision since we continued to be more nauseous as the evening wore on. We had not visited Red Lobster in quite a while, but we considered It as one of our favorite restaurant while it was still under the Darden umbrella. However, after our most recent experience, we will definitely no longer dine at Red Lobster. We give this restaurant two stars. read more

So we were out for a drive Sunday and decided to stop by and have dinner. We were seated promptly and they were definitely distancing the patrons. Apparently their AC was on the fritz and supposedly that some people couldn't deal with the feeling inside. Personally I was quite comfortable this is coming from a menopausal woman. Arrived late afternoon and they weren't too busy. We got seated right away but had to wait 10minutes for a server to greet us and take our drink order. I ordered a medium rare filet mignon (seemed simple). The food was delivered and they called it a sirloin. It wasn't a filet mignon and it wasn't even close to medium rare so I sent it back. The cook came out asking why..(really)...i wanted my steak more on the rare side plus the cut was clearly not a filet mignon... the next steak delivered was also called a 'sirloin' and was again done medium well. I gave up and ate the steak but they are clearly trying to pass off a cheaper cut as filet mignon and their cooks don't know how to cook steaks. Very poor service. Taking the order took long, receiving the order to long. Server rarely stopped by to ask if we needed anything, and we did need napkins, water, dressing, nothing outrageous. Empty tables around us stayed full of dishes and glasses from the previous guests for well over 45 minutes. Including our empty dishes. Our salad dishes stayed on our table throughout our meal even though we were finished (empty). Our empty drinks stayed on our table even after we ordered more drinks, the table was full of empty dirty dishes and no one bused them. It's really just basic restaurant service. My waitress was very nice but wasn't very good at her job. I had to remind her to bring me one of my sides as she completely forgot about it and at the end of my meal, I had to wait about twenty minutes for her to bring me the biscuits I requested to go. I would have been understanding if they'd been busy, but my sister and I were one of the few parties in the restaurant so serving us should have been a piece of cake. The fried shrimp I got was good, but the broccoli was lukewarm/cold by the time I got it and when I finally got my potatoes, they were much different and worse than the potatoes I usually get from Red Lobster. The potatoes I usually get are garlicy and dense but these tasted strange and had the consistency of applesauce. The biscuits (once I got them) were rock hard, which I didn't realize until I went to eat one when I got home, which was disappointing. I've had much better experiences with service and food at other locations. I will not be returning to this one, as this is the second time I've had a sub-par experience at this one. read more

Slow service is an understatement. Lobster tails the size of a shrimp. Calamari wasn't cooked all the way, runny doughy gross mess. Ordered two orders of coconut shrimp and when we got it had no pina colada sauce, was told they ran out two days ago. No draft beer? Server said keg taps have been broken for weeks and nobody orders draft beer anyway??? Dirty sticky tables, menus, and filthy silverware and glasses with caked on filth from many prior visits. Second visit this year and progressively worse, no contact from the manager who was next to us many time during the visit. I wish I could give less stars than one. Red Lobster has, in the last ten years, gone to great lengths to change their image. The servers used to wear colorful shirts with fish, shorts were permitted, and the decor was lighthearted. Now the theme is more sophisticated like Olive Garden, with black and white attire, long aprons and 86 surfboards and crabs with happy faces. Even the actual layout has changed-where large tables used to be, now there are aisles of booths. Small towns like Winter Haven thrive on chains like Red Lobster and Outback, because let's face it, there aren't too many other options. But I do hope the citizens of Winter Haven and the like understand these chains are a disgrace to the restaurant industry. What I dislike the most about the Darden chain is that they made all the effort to change the look and style of Red Lobster, but not change the real problem; which is their ridiculous three table rule. Never understood why you have to wait 45 minutes to be seated but their are lots of open tables? A server can only take three tables at a time. Waiting 45 minutes on a Wednesday night is unacceptable. Not because the wait really is 45 minutes; but because the restaurant was probably just as busy the Wednesday before. Why there are not more servers on staff, or the three table rule is eliminated, is beyond me. This Red Lobster and all others are a joke. To pay that much money for seafood that has been in a freezer is... sad. read more

I am not at all a fan of chain restaurants, and strive to eat local whenever I can. Tonight being an exception, as it is my son's 13th birthday, and we always allow our children to pick a restaurant of their choice for their special birthday dinner. He chose Red Lobster. The food was passable, but typical boring chain fare. The service? Terrible. The server was friendly enough, but sloooooow. We were there for 2 hours and 20 minutes, for dinner on a Monday night. That is not including the wait time to be seated, but rather just the time we were at our table. Requests for condiments took so long we forgot we had asked for them and had already eaten the food without by the time it was brought to the table. And the worst was, we told the server upon being seated that it was our sons birthday, expecting a dessert as is the norm. Our daughter's meal included a dessert. At the end of the meal, the server brought the dessert to my son and they sang happy birthday, and she walked away. When she came back several minutes later, I asked about my daughter's dessert, and she said she gave it to my son as they "dont do free birthday desserts." I would have had no issue paying for a second ice cream, but I thought it was tacky and poor service to give one child's dessert to the other child, with no mention to the parents. By this point I was frustrated and did not want to wait for another ice cream. We left without dessert for our daughter. I have no issue with spending $200 for a quality dinner experience for my family, especially as a birthday treat. But to spend that kind of money and walk away unsatisfied, that's hard to swallow. Doubtful that we will be visiting Red Lobster again anytime soon. read more

7pm is not the time to go to dinner at Red Lobster- they are extremely busy and you can expect to wait about 35-45 minutes on a weekday. Seafood is their specialty so if you do not order it, don't expect anything great. My experience was not so great as the steak I ordered was frozen and did not come out with my table's order and when it was served, was still cold and bleeding. Since I ordered it medium rare, I expect some redness but not completely raw. On the second attempt, the steak was well done so, I did not give them a third chance. The staff; however, is friendly and will make sure you are happy and satisfied and did reduce our bill.
