I don't think it's on the menu. Beef with Onions We ordered in Chinese, so I'm giving a direct translation. Looking at the menu, I think this is probably Mongolian Beef. It was way too sweet. Family Tofu Fried tofu in the standard Chinese restaurant brown sauce. Would not reorder. Unlike other restaurants we frequented in West Yellowstone, staff wore masks the entire time, including over their noses, which apparently is a squirrelly part of the face to cover. We didn't have trouble with the 15% tip as it was clearly listed on the receipt. TLDR: If you order carefully you'll be satisfied with your meal. We Found this highly rated place during our visit in town. The environment is clean with a variety of decor throughout. Got here around 5PM and beat the dinner rush. The tables are spread out; not sure if they had a capacity cut off. They served hot tea. The proportions are good, prices are a tad higher but worth it. Food came out hot and quick. The Special Fried rice was perfect to share. Walnut shrimp is fire and a must order. The curry dish was a bit spicy and the least of our fave. The food is mediocre and the prices are expensive. We ordered fried dumplings for an appetizer, combination fried rice and a hot pot of beef, chicken, tofu, shrimp and surami. The food came quickly, which was nice because we were hungry. But it was obvious that it was shoveled out of a bin and not cooked to order. We ate it because we were hungry, but it was served lukewarm and was poor quality and rather tasteless. Let's put it this way. Panda express is gourmet by comparison. The waitress did not speak English very well, so could not answer our questions about the menu and did not check on us after we were served. Here's the kicker: when we got the bill, it came to $64 plus tax +3% for using a credit card Plus $9.60 automatic gratuity. We did not realize they added a gratuity and did not know what the $9.60 was for. We thought at first that it was some weird West Yellowstone resort tax. And when we received the receipt to sign, it had space to add a tip. Pretty sneaky. It's not like we had a big party of people. We were a couple. This was the best meal I had during my trip to visit Yellowstone and Grand Tetons. I will admit that statement is more so a judgment of all the other places than it is a praise of Red Lotus, but RL is definitely a solid Chinese food joint in the area. Good tasty chinese food in this small town! We came here at around 5pm on a Saturday and there were a lot of empty tables so we chose to dine in. I appreciate how most of the staff wore masks! We ordered Family Tofu and General Tsao Chicken. Both dishes came out pretty quick and it came with a big container of rice for 2 people. This seems like the best Chinese restaurant in town. It's very expensive for what you get, but so is everything else (all food is more expensive in West Yellowstone). If can you get over that barrier in the very beginning, you'll have a better overall experience. We dined in and were treated to good service. The owner is friendly and was chatting to my relatives... apparently he only opens during the busy tourist season and may not be open during the winter. Most of the people dining here were Chinese or Chinese American tourists. We wound up ordering more of the traditionally/authentic Chinese offerings vs. more Americanized options. The food is pretty decent, though it can be a tad bit too salty sometimes. I'd come back again next time we're visiting Yellowstone. Bonus tip: it's right across the street from the supermarket. I've since moved away from the area and their food haunts my dreams. I haven't been able to find anything that comes close. I've never had a bad meal here. I miss you so dang much. I would like to comment on the tip included in your total part. This town is a tourist town. So they get a lot of traffic from people not from the United States. They are guaranteeing their tips. At the bottom of each page in their menus it states tips will be added. This is my second visit to Red Lotus, the first time I visited was 4 years ago. I was very satisfied with my first visit, although the price was not low, it had good Chinese food. However, things changed :( The food was overpriced for sure, a regular dish needs around $20, and they did not give too much food. We tried Singapore rice noodles and scallion beef (we wanted to have Bison with scallion but it was too expensive..). Scallion beef was way too sweet, and tasted like American Chinese food. The Singapore rice noodles were on average, but only gave 3 shrimps and a little egg and meat. They also charged the tips directly without telling you even though we only had 2 people. I'm generally very picky about Chinese food when I travel to other areas. I have to say the food here is very authentic Chinese cuisine and really surprised me in a pleasant way.
