When I worked in this area, I used to go here often with coworkers when it first opened. So, my boyfriend and I decided to go back and have a nice dinner before our next reservation for drinks. Unfortunately, it was not the kind of dining experience we expected, and it was lackluster at best. Honestly, my stars are for the chips and salsa, and our cocktails. Other than that, the experience wasn't worth the price they charge for the food. Our server was horrible and rushed us through our orders. I asked if I could replace the refried beans with black beans since I had done that here in the past, and he was rude and cut me off and said we don't have that, and moved on to the next. I was ear hustling on the other tables he assisted and he was not friendly...the friendliest he became was when it was time to pay the tab and get his tip. Also, the food came out in less than 5 minutes...even before our cocktails. That would seem like something great for people like us who were looking forward to eating, but ultimately, it seemed like they just reheated the enchiladas because it neither looked appealing nor tasted fresh. Then, a guy who seemed to be a manager (because he was the only one wearing a white shirt and everyone else was in black), creeps up on our table no name, no smile and no greeting. He asked us how everything was and to let him know if we needed anything. Sorry guy, we both had food in our mouths to even begin telling you my thoughts. I understand weekend dinner hour gets busy, since I've worked in that environment myself in the past, but something was really off about that night. My boyfriend and I talked about it after we left because it was that bad. If the manager was rude to customers (I also overheard how he spoke to another couple who asked about dining inside instead of outside), then it trickles down to the servers who in our case was the same way. Save your money on better service and more authentic Mexican food else where. read more

Well, the inside is really nice. The detail and architecture is amazing. But... that was it. When looking at yelp the inside decoration sucked us in, but just looking at the menu and finally choosing something and eating it... was all not good and not worth the price. Amazing service Brandon! Wonderful server who was very engaging. He recommended a lot of items to us since this was our first time here and we were celebrating an occasion. We ordered tacos, the tortilla soup, and my fave the Duck Taquitos! The sauce is very hot in the sense that it has a lasting warmth. If you're not too hungry, then that's a good choice. We tried their hottest sauce too under his recommendation and it was a fun experience because I didn't believe him when he said you only needed a little dip. For parking, we didn't use the parking near by. We used the UTC Mall parking because we knew we could cross the bridge over and go shopping. read more

My experience with Red O started in late April. I was researching for my parents 50th anniversary and Kristina the Event Director was very patience with me and all my questions, despite how small my party was. Finally she helped me made a regular reservation for 12, and noted all my "demands" Fast Forward to Late July when we actually have the brunch party. We were seated at the Patio with a long table setup. When we arrived, iced water and chips were set out already. Our server Stephen was GREAT! with all the seniors in our group, we had to ask him to turn the fans on and off so many times. He was humorous about it too. He answered all the questions, accommodated with all the requests. He also was the photographer for our group pictures. (Our busser Jesus and the hostess were helpful that afternoon too) In term of the food, since everyone had different things, I can only comment on the ones I tried. Ordered the Classic Guacamole and Guacamole trio for the table while waiting for everyone to arrived. I was interested in the Chicharron Guacamole in the Trio, but turned out nothing really to write home about. I wanted to tried Mary's Duck Taquitos ever since I saw the menu. (Stephen said, to him, the spiciness level of the table salsa was a 4, and the taquitos is a 6) The Taquitos were great, but the sauce was a bit spicy for me but was good. I also like my Short rib benedict, but I only ate half of one since I had to swap with my dad. Dad had the Fajitas (half Chicken half shrimp) but turned out way too spicy for him (my fault, dad can't handle the heat, and I thought Fajitas was a safe choice) However, the chicken was a bit dry, as well as the side rice. According to my aunt, the vegan tacos were flavorful too. For brunch, they don't offer valet parking, so we all parked at 4350 La Jolla village drive. With validation at the hostess stand, parking was free (otherwise it would be $16) Overall, very pleasant experience! read more

The ambiance of this restaurant is everything. It is a beautiful restaurant with such a cool vibe. My husband and I went for lunch and sat outside. Our waitress was sweet and knowledgeable about the menu. I had the Caesar salad as well as the corn and goat cheese tamales. The pepitas and croutons were a nice touch to the Caesar. My tamale was fine, nothing bad but not something I'd get again. My husband really enjoyed the carnitas tacos. He said they were seasoned well and juicy. I'm really shocked about this restaurant, I came to celebrate my birthday and my expectations were real high since I saw on social media but at the end when we got there the service was terrible from Ryan, he was super rude to my friend, he had to stand up and look for him so he could ask for a box and the check since he wasn't coming to our table at all, after we got our food he just stopped coming, we were needing to ask for water... usually the server keep checking the table but Ryan... It happened so many things about him being weird with us but is unacceptable how he was being rude to my friend out of nowhere. I was expecting for a birthday dessert and Ryan didn't even offer a dessert, we had to ask for it... (I wrote it down on our reservation and the host knew but not Ryan) I'm so upset about this place. I don't recommend it if you wanna celebrate your birthday or anything. Even on a slow day for this guy and with people helping him with our table it wasn't enough for this guy, we were needing another server actually Ryan just was there for us. he doesn't seem happy and please if you wanna work at the restaurant as a server do if you really like it, don't force yourself just for the money. Went here last night with a girlfriend of mine. I have previously called and reserved so we were seated immediately. We had valet parking: $12; I was glad we didn't need to worry about parking. I ordered a virgin margarita, peach flavor and she ordered an aqua fresca, watermelon flavor- drinks were decent. We were given a basket of tortilla chips with salsa to dip with. So far so good. However, we waited 20 minutes for our appetizer, Shrimp Aquachile and another 30 minutes for our main courses (Al Pastor Tacos and Sizzling Fajitas); I was not impressed. The food was mediocre. Tacos were blend and her Fajitas was too cooked for a "medium rare" steak. The ambiance is a 10/10 but the food and the service were 5/10. Our server was a little condescending when I was asking when my drink would be coming. It wasn't a big deal but I didn't appreciate being called a 'babe'. Had a very tasty dinner at the Red O. First time here and they did not disappoint. Love the atmosphere here; so pretty and classy. We ordered enchilada chicken Suisa, Filet mignon with shrimp combo, Cocorito drink and flan for dessert. A little bit on the pricey side but worth it for the taste and ambiance of the place. Chicken enchilada was tender and tomatillo sauce with sour cream was delicious. Filet mignon was tender and the shrimp with noodles had the right texture and shrimp was cooked just right. Also came with mash potatoes. Flan was super creamy and the added berries made it refreshing balancing the sweetness of the flan. Cocorito, which had the lime and coconut juice had the zing if you want something tangy. I had the one with no alcohol. Overall, we enjoyed the dinner. They also have a good happy hour, which we plan to try next time from 3 to 6 pm daily. read more

Ended up going here on a whim, restaurant is beautiful and has great ambience. Our server Jose was friendly and nice and made conversation, but was not too overbearing or talkative. We started with drinks which were delicious. However, our espresso martini was promised a chocolate rim and espresso beans and it did not come with that. We got the fajita sizzler with Carne Asada and shrimp, and it came out smoking and beautiful, the tuna tartare was delicious and the tuna was definitely fresh, but we had to ask for chips to eat it with. It felt like it was unfinished without anything to eat it with. The plantains were delicious. The enchilada trio was great, the Baja fish tacos were great, the beans and rice that came with the fajitas were delicious and you get a big stack of tortillas as well. The wet burrito was huge and filling. However, we asked for more sides of the avocado Crema sauce and we ended up getting charged for on the bill which I thought was silly we didn't ask for three but they charged for all 3. An auto gratuity was added to the bill so keep that in mind if you are going with a party of five. We probably would have tipped more if auto gratuity wasn't added already. Would recommend and would go back if I wanted good Mexican food. read more

While my wife and I were out of town last week visiting family. My sister in law invited us to lunch at this restaurant. She said many good things about it that really made me look forward to the visit. Are server Israel did an amazing job in attending to are needs. In the middle of are lunch there was a tremendous amount of yelling and cussing going on at the bar. My wife and sister both became upset and thought a fight was breaking out. I got up to see if everything was alright. I seen a guy who I was told was Franco berating another manager . This ruined everything my sister said about this place for anyone to be treated in this manner at work is quite concerning. The lady next to us asked to speak to the manager and she was told that it was the manger getting yelled at. I have reported this issue to the California Labor Board. This was not ok and nobody should be treated so aggressively . Me and my family will not recommend this place based on how a manager can curse a manager out. read more

You have the choice to mix and match sangria, mimosa or margaritas. I had the white and red sangrias. They were pretty good. I chose to spend my Mother's Day at Red O! I'm so glad I decided to go there! Yes, it was busy, but the staff was so attentive, impressively nice and in good spirits with the amount of people they had coming in and out! Lucy, Francisco and Katherine were so nice and helpful! We were very excited to go to Red O for brunch we kept seeing posts and were super excited for the all you can drink for $25. So I made reservation online that state drinks are interchangeable. However upon being there our server, Lacey, told us the general manager said they are not and we had to stay with the one flavor of drink. She was such a sweetheart, I showed her the post, and she tried asking again however the GM said no. We got the chilaquiles which was a GIANT portion, and so were the empanadas and chorizo skillet . The food was absolutely amazing . Our server was on top of it and super friendly. Rating would have been one star just because we drove from far to come for this brunch that the GM decided not to follow their own ad. But because we loved our server we upped it to two stars.
