The salsa was so spicy that none of us ate it. The guacamole and queso fundido were very good. I ordered the spinach enchiladas and they were SO spicy I ate half of one and couldn't eat anymore. Our experience with Red O is one to remember. We came to celebrate my partner completing his masters degree and the staff did just that! Reva was knowledgeable and attentive. From when we checked in to our reservations to leaving the restaurant, the staff was thoughtful and friendly. The food was beyond delightful and every dish was consistent with how delicious they were. The inside of the restaurant is beautiful and there is a nice walkway to the parking lot that overlooks a small pond. The parking covers 3 hours and there's a connecting bridge if you want to galavant at UTC mall. We will definitely be back to try more things and enjoy more ceviche! read more

Red O is a great place for a nice dinner. When seated, you get a big mountain of fresh tortilla chips and fresh salsa (refillable). I couldn't decide on what to get so I decided to split the 1 pound lobster and tomahawk steak dinner. Everything was absolutely delicious and filling. The order came with corn and flour tortilla, fresh guacamole with pomegranate seeds, fresh pico de gallo, red rice, and beans. There is also a green and red sauce (probably butter based) that is so good when drizzled on the meat. Also, you get grilled bell peppers and onions on the plate. This meal can feed at least 3-4 people. The watermelon margarita was very good. The server lit a flame around the rim of the glass. The interior is super nice. Although you have to park in a parking structure across the way. It's a paid parking structure but you can get a voucher to void the parking fee. read more

Walked in solo at 630pm on Wednesday night, no warm welcome, no one led you to your seat, you are on your own to find your bar seat. The greeting service was just like the weather that night - COLD. Sitted and felt I was wearing Harry Potter invisible cloak for about 10 minutes. Finally one of bar tenders noticed me and got my order and in house chips and salsa -- ok good, mild spicy and salsa is on the watering side. Ordered one dish : Enchiladas trio ( chicken , rib and shrimp $43.10 - expensive) . And the food quality , plating and serving are bad. That one dish took like 20-30 mins to come, until Kevin , one of the most professional bartenders I met ( all my two stars goes to him and his coworker who help me with charging my phone and took my order). Came in with empty stomach, but left with half plate food . I usually like to finish my dish, but this one I cannot swallow done with all the old and dried proteins. Absolutely love the decor for this place! It's fancyish, but also casualish. It's interesting, I like it. Staff is very friendly here and they make fantastic drinks! Perfect for happy hour or a little lunch getaway from work. I got their Blackberry Bramble to start and I loved it! It wasn't sweet at all, which is my preference, and the blackberry flavor was strong but not overwhelming. Absolutely delicious and gorgeous to look at! They brought out some chips and salsa to start and their salsa was pretty good too. I'm not sure if it's made in house or not, but I really enjoyed it. I would've liked for it to be a bit spicier, but they did give us a habanero salsa to add for extra spice. I also loved how the tortilla chips came out very warm. I wasn't very hungry, so I got the Chilled Ahi Tuna Tartare and this was really great! The presentation was incredibly unique with the clear separation in layers, but it all worked very well together. It wasn't the best tuna tartare I've ever had, but it was still very fresh and I really enjoyed the overall flavor. I think the prices can be a lot if it's not happy hour and I'm not sure all the dishes are worth the price. I loved everything about it and I can't wait to come back and try more stuff. read more

I went back last night.l did a pick up order only appetizers and dessert. Carnitas empanadas, Duck taquitos, Butter cake. They didn't even give me a full order of the taquitos for $22. Absolutely ridiculous. Mind you I've been here before. I ordered literally 10 mins before arrival. The food was not fresh. Tasted like it had been sitting. The empanadas were limp and lukewarm. The cake wasn't even warm. To add insult to injury me and my friend both got sick after eating. We've been running to the bathroom all night and morning. This was the only thing we ate. We drove almost 2 hours to get this as an early birthday treat for me. Maybe l'll try a different location. I don't know. My first experience was great on new year's eve. We came on a Sunday to celebrate my mom's birthday we were a party of 10. They sat us down once all our party arrived. The restaurant was not full a few families were also celebrating birthdays which made the experience intimate. Parking is a breeze , park in the parking structure and they will validate your parking once you're ready to leave. Our waiter was great he came around to each person individually and took their order , food came out fairly quickly and it was delicious. This was my second time eating at Red O and it's been a 10/10 every time! They just started doing weekend brunch and we had to check it out. We had to get the $25 Bottomless - and not just mimosas! You can also mix & match with Mimosas, bloody marys, and red or white sangria. Or opt for Margarita Pitchers, perfect for a group or grab a shot from the tequila cart or a tequila flight - which we got a few of oops! Came in a few times during lunch hours - easy to make a reservation for a party of ~15 or so. Just called ahead the night before. I love their chips and salsa and if you're able to handle it - ask for their spicy salsa (might be habanero?) I've gotten the salmon bowl and the wet burrito (mixed sauce with short rib) and both were so good! If you're feeling something heavy and filling - I'd stick with the burrito as it lasted me for dinner too. I did like how fast the service is and the food came out really quickly. The dessert was of course - delicious. They gave us complimentary tres leches and I enjoyed it. I made a reservation for 11 people. The front desk person was stubborn and would not seat us down till our whole group came. Our food was not served within a reasonable time. Even when our food was served many items were missing. When I mentioned that the corn was not good the server ended up taking it off. Only 3 people out of the 11 enjoyed their meal. 1 of the dishes was stack and the other was a chicken dish. Everyone else was not satisfied with their meal. The veggie tacos I had ordered were not seasoned evenly. They had 3 types of waters (normal, tap, and sprinkling). They charged 11 dollars for water and 13 dollars for cutting a cake we brought into the restaurant. The building interior was really nice and we got a private room. The service and quality of food was not worth the drive from central San Diego. She would not split the bill by groups. Red O used to be one of my favorite Mexican restaurants, although prior to this I have only visited the Newport location. I was excited to try LaJolla but was hit with disappointment. I went with my husband celebrating our anniversary and was able to make a last minute reservation which was great. The host was welcoming on arrival and seated us in a large booth. The server was prompt in taking our order, acknowledged our anniversary and was pleasant enough. They even gave a card which was a good touch. The classic margarita was delicious and the other drink my husband ordered (forgot the name) was strong and to the point. The chips and salsa were good with the exception of large chunky tomatoes in it, but some people may like that. It was wonderful until the food came. We opted to split the short rib enchiladas with rice and beans. The food was delivered within 10 minutes of ordering. The appearance was nice on the plate. I took my first bite and It was so dry and no cheese in sight. It is not anything like I remember. I wanted to like the food but it is a hard no. The Ambiance is fine but I do not think I will be back. It just was not for me but I do not want to discourage others from trying it for themselves. We had a reservation for Friday at 9pm. Valet parking was easy. The decor is beautiful. The hostess was lovely. We ordered the Tablita, shrimp fajitas, and the enchilada trio. The Tablita is huge and there were leftovers. The guac and rice were delish. The fajitas were good, the corn was excellent. The enchiladas were just ok-good flavors but a little dry.
