Hands down the best fish and chips I've had in Nashville. Oddly enough, I have to start with the tartare sauce. Wow. Wow. Wow. I love traditional cheap mayo-based tartar sauce and this blew it away. Made me realize that everyone else is doing it wrong. It's thick and fresh and subtle and just incredible. The fish was fresh and flaky and delicious. The portion was a little small for the price, but good fish isn't cheap. And I was satisfied after the meal. The fries looked like typical fries from a bag but I was stunned. They were incredible. Love this place! We ordered the calamari, cod and chips, and clam chowder. I literally don't have a bad thing to say about the food. It was absolutely delicious. Everything we ordered was a hit. I'm looking forward to trying new items next time I go since they have such a variety of options for both food and drink. I will say the seating is a bit limited and I imagine they can get pretty busy some days. Also keep in mind they are closed on Sunday and Monday. Go try this place now! read more

Oh my goodness. My husband had the beer battered Cod and it was delicious. I had the fish of the day - barramundi and it too was delicious. Fries were great. They have this crusty coating that was so good. The batter that the fish is cooked in is the best I've ever tasted. Fish was very fresh and flaky and it was not too greasy for being fried. The fresh made tartar sauce was so good. I wish I could have bought a jar of it. We will most definitely be back to try other menu items. The service was great. They were so helpful to us being out first time. It's a quaint little space with outdoor seating which we would have sat there if it wasn't so hot. This was a great lunch spot. They had gender neutral bathrooms that were clean. There was plenty of free parking out back. They also had WIFI, just ask the employee for the password. We spent some time remote working here after eating. They had bottles drinks that were $4. All of the food was delicious. Delicious and comforting seafood dishes! Their cod and chips are standout. The fish had a crispy but light exterior and tender interior. The fries on the side were good as well. I recommend eating both with malt vinegar (they conveniently provide you with packets if you ask) to add some acidity and liven up the flavor profile. Also got the clam chowder, which was tasty, packed with clams and potatoes, and served with a hearty slice of sourdough. Unique family owned place. Tried the Tennessee catfish special. Delicious, although the ciabatta bread was a bit much and I ended up deconstructing my sandwich and eating the fish on its own. First, it was difficult to find from Yelp directions. I would suggest putting a note that it's on the second floor above Radish. Second, there's no elevator! It's a long set of stairs in the back and only a bit shorter in the front. This is NOT a place for those with handicaps. I won't try it again. Third, atmosphere is cute. It's a little hole in the wall serving very fresh fish - unusual for Nashville. We had cod and the filet sandwich. Both nicely done with a crisp crust and flaky, tender inside. Nice! The fries were nicely done, I like them very crispy. Tartar sauce was nice. The anchovy appetizer was very disappointing and overpriced. Overall, a pleasant though not outstanding dinner at a reasonable price marred by accessibility issues. read more

This place is small, and seating is tight. Go outside "meal hours", if you can. 2. A lot of fish/chip places have absorbent paper underneath to grab any extra oil. Their fish is battered perfect. The fries that go with the fish and chips are fatter than the basic fries found elsewhere & superb texture. Salted just right. The manner in how the chefs gently lay down each battered cod into the fry basket is with care. We always sit at the serving bar with total view of all the special effects. This place is ridiculously good. Fresh seafood and fish cooked so elegantly. Fish and chips are the staple, but they always have great specials. I myself stick with the specials which seem to be seasonal... but I could be wrong. They will have soft shell crab bahn mi, clam chowder, and a variety of fish like snapper or flounder. I absolutely LOVE Red Perch! It's so nice to have a great food spot down the street from my office. The owners are extremely responsive on social media. I inquired about gluten free options and was told they have a dedicated fryer for their fries AND they can grill the fish instead of fry it. My only constructive criticism is that the batter was bland. I tore off a piece just to taste it without the fish, and it needed seasoning. Even though it was the "best", my husband agreed that a little seasoning would raise the dish to a higher level. I suppose if you like the tartar sauce, this is not a problem. Perhaps it was the 5 star review that raised expectations, but this was really disappointing. Since I am from Australia, I was excited to go to a restaurant advertising Australian Fish & Chips. I was disappointed. The fish was more batter than fish and the chips were nothing like what one would be served in Australia. The staff were friendly and helpful, but service was slow. You order at the counter and they bring you your food - but such a long wait. As for ambiance, there isn't much. Small outdoor patio and a few inside tables. Unbelievably good food every single time! The batter on the fish and chips is perfectly crispy and light, without feeling heavy or greasy. The lumpia are perfectly bite sized and crunchy - definitely a favorite. We also got the whole fish special which was out of this world. The skin was crispy with tender meat inside. It was served with a curry type sauce that paired the flavors perfectly. Recently they started doing a paella and wine night which is such a fun idea and definitely unique in Nashville. Fantastic paella loaded with tons of seafood. All of the seafood is super fresh (and I'm picky about seafood) and has never disappointed.
