Dined here with a friend before a concert at The Paramount and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Our waiter was amazing, friendly, funny, helpful with the menu selections and very attentive without being in our faces. Other staff kept the empty plates cleared and the water full. But the meal was obviously the highlight. We took advantage of their midweek prix fix menu, which really has all of their best dishes, so it was perfect. I started with the tuna tartar - yum! My friend had the oysters with yellow curry, so delightfully seasoned. Not too heavy-handed with the curry on the delicate oysters. Then for our meals, she had the steak, nice and rare, just as ordered and I had the curry shrimp. Both were delicious and just the perfect size, not overly huge, but I did not feel wanting in any way. For dessert, we had the bread pudding and the creme brulee, both awesome! My wife and I have been happy to call this "our place" for several years now. Red never disappoints, and often delights. The hospitality is warm. The service is friendly and attentive. The drinks are wonderfully prepared. When Kelly make my personal favorite, a Ketel One martini, dirty, I enjoy a work of art that never tastes as good anywhere else. Ask Kelly about the wines. The list is not long, and it changes frequently, but every one is chosen by hand. I am continually making happy discoveries at Red and later tracking down and buying a few bottles for home. And of course, the food. As I said, never disappoints, often delights. Nino is a creative chef, and he must have a very good team back there, because I've had many excellent meals here even when he was not in the kitchen. Anything on the menu that looks good, is good, and the specials are usually outstanding. Count me among the Red-lovers who reviewed here, and join us some time. read more

My wife and I had dinner with another couple on Friday, August 12th 2016. I made the reservation online, which was quick and easy. Upon arrival at 6:30pm, Red was mostly empty, and the convenient private parking lot was empty. Shortly later, the seats filled and the noise level got pretty high. The waiter introduced himself and was pleasant enough For some reason only my wife got a drink order in at that initial greeting. He could have been more receptive to us in the following ~20 minutes, as I had to grab his attention to request a drink. All four of us ordered different things from the menu. I ordered the tuna with a side of Ratatouille. The tuna was excellent, as were the green beans that it came with. The Ratatouille didn't arrive, and I had to grab the waiters attention. He assured me it would be prepared promptly, and it was. I found it excellent. My wife ordered the New England clam chowder, a special soup of the day. It was excellent. She also had 2 appetizers: scallops, which were excellent, and lobster ravioli. The latter was served with a light sauce; she would have preferred red, but I tasted it and found it quite good. My buddy ordered what looked like chicken and mashed potatoes (he's Scottish). He said he rarely complements food, but found his dish worthy of commendation. His girlfriend ordered monk fish, which she said was "okay". My wife and I shared mango sorbet for dessert. It was served over nice blueberries and other fruits. The waiter said it was homemade, and I had no reason to doubt it. I found the texture and flavor to be outstanding. I'd describe the atmosphere and dining experience at Red as "traditional restaurant". If you're looking for a trendy Huntington hotspot, Red is definitely not your destination. The prices at Red are on the high side (in my opinion). Our tally for 4 adults, including 2 beers and a few teas, was $220 before tip. We stayed quite a while and were never rushed by the staff. The menu is delicious twist on tradition, and Red is always willing to accommodate my grandson's dietary restrictions (GF). If you are up for a meaty meal, try the beef carpaccio & tuna entree. Excellent food & great service. Recently I had the mushroom risotto as an appetizers. Amazing! Perfect portion, not too large (I was afraid it would leave me too full for my meal). The salmon was great & so were the gelati. Unfortunately, the peking duck napolean was already sold out at 8:30 on a Fri night! Perhaps the supplier couldn't furnish enough? Duck is not a common item to buy so perhaps the restaurant couldn't get much this week. I would have liked to try it, it looked amazing. read more

Ahhh Its been a while since I enjoyed a meal from start to finish like I did at RED!! Started off with Dirty Martinis that were phenomenal! We had the mussels in the yellow curry broth and the special app. which was zucchini blossoms stuffed with lobster. Both of them were amazing! We were literally eating the mussels broth with a spoon at the end of the dish like it was a soup! For entrees I ordered the special Jerk rubbed venison! I have never had venison before but I thought I would venture out and try something different. I am soo glad I did. It was slightly spicy with a sweet sauce it was soo good, Cooked perfectly and the potato croquette was so crunchy and delicious. My guest had the seared tuna served rare. It was really delicious. The tuna had such a great flavor and the wasabi aoili was yum! We had to have some dessert after all of the reviews. I had the banana coconut tiramisu and he had the bread pudding with vanilla gelati OMG! They both were to die for. The caramel sauce with the bread pudding was incredible and the tiramisu was so light and delicious. I don't know why it took us so long to try this restaurant. The service was also great!! if you want to judge the service and accommodation ability of a restaurant, send in a vegan!! going out to eat can be tricky for me, and i always feel like a huge pain to the entire staff, especially when there is a pre-set menu involved! but yesterday during an engagement party i attended at red, i was more than pleasantly surprised by the accommodation i received. the staff were more than happy to alert the kitchen of my needs, and each course i was served were not only 100% vegan friendly, but were absolutely delicious. the staff at red was so friendly, and the service was excellent. everyone else seemed to really enjoy their meals as well. red is a great place for a party, and seems like the perfect spot for a meal or a drink any time. i would definitely dine there again in the future! read more

We decided to try the price fix menu for a weeknight meal with another couple. We all had the prix fix menu and a bottle of wine. What a great deal! We shared the appetizers. Tuna tartare was delicious, mussels and calamari were unexpected but equally as good. My husband had the beef bourguignon which was perfect. I had the cod special as did the other wife (we both cleaned our plates) the other husband had the filet mignon which was perfectly prepared. The deserts were all amazing as well. Attended on 2/14/2012. There were four in our party. Number one complaint is it is too dark. When you have to struggle to read the menu and see your food, the lighting is way too dark. The number of tables in that small room could be less. We had a table for 4 and right behind us to my right was a table for 2 that was so close the poor wait staff kept hitting my chair as they went by even though they tried very hard not to. The food: Two of us had the short ribs dinner. While tender, lacked the flavor I was expecting from short ribs. The vegetable was a medley with carrots and asparagus. Why do kitchens insist on asparagus in winter and with a winter meal. A nice tuscan kale, blanched and quickly sauteed would have fit the dish much better. The other 2 in our party had the Mediterranean Fish Grill. Sounded much better on the menu. The plating was pale looking with the items strategically placed, making the dish look like it was missing something. Instead of the old tired and true Salmon that is overused, a nice fatty white fish would have done this dish more justice, seared and placed on top of the shrimp, scallops and other fish in little seafood broth with the salmoriglion drizzled on top. Serving it in a nice bowl dish would have been more pleasing to the eye as well. On the positive side, the wine was excellent, our harvest salad was very good and the waitstaff were knowledgeable and professional. Will we go back? I personally would give it a second try, but for these prices if I leave with the same feeling, then I would not give it a third try. read more

Ok our second time back and still great service! We decided to do an early dinner out in Huntington and immediately thought of Red! We spent valentines day dinner there and how great the food and service was so we went back! This time we sat in the outdoor patio which was perfect of this beautiful weekend! Drinks were strong and tasty and even when I wasn't fond of my second drink, the awesome waiter brought me another drink to replace it that was perfect! We started off with the crab and lobster salad, very fresh and nicely plated. I had the seared scallops that were so tender and the mister had the duck confit mushroom risotto which was so creamy and cooked perfectly. And to top it off we had the same great waiter from our first night there and he remembered us and even read my boyfriends post from valentines day! ( ppl do read what you write and it's even better when they remember you) now that's a well run business! We will definitely be back before we move! This place is a favorite! read more

Where to start! The food and service was excellent! My girlfriend and I went here for valentines day weekend and it was a treat! Red definitely knows how.to make their patrons feel welcome! Strong tasty drinks and the abbachio. (Lamb) appetizer with risotto was amazing and tender, melt in your mouth tender. And better yet brought out by the chef. Next up, my shell steak in gargonzola peppercorn sauce was perfect and the accompanying shoestring fries were seasoned perfectly. My girlfriend got the mixed grill which had delectible skirt steak, moist tender lamb chop and sausage. Mmm mmm good. After taking a sigh from stuffing ourselves, we decided to delve into the apple pear cobbler for dessert with creamy vanilla gelato. Hot out the oven, made with fresh fruits with gelato melting over it. Perfect end to a perfect meal. Service was amazing from start to finish. Definitely a keeper in our restaurant black book. Compliments to the chef for making me look like an allstar to my girlfriend for making a great valentines day date! read more

A horrible experience. Don't let the moronic manager/host seat you at the table for 2 near the table for 4 in the corner. Can barely hear yourself think. When I complained about it all she could say was " it's crowded tonight" "it's restaurant week". Dumb. Just say sorry, my mistake...what can I do for you? Never going again. Too bad because food was decent and waiter very polite. Managers who argue and don't adhere to the old saying "the customer's always right" shouldn't be in the restaurant business, they're simply out of their element. Our gp numbers had dwindled and they accommodated by rearranging our table. It was not a busy night. Some of our members were in deep conversation as the waiter stood to mention the specials, and he didn't clear his throat or tap a foot. Sorry abt. that. My friend had the Pounded Chicken. (You heard me). It was a large piece of breaded chicken covered with the most delicate of salads. The pork rib appetizer was over slaw that was spicy and so perfect. The sizable pork dish was served with well seasoned mashed and gn veg. I took half home. Desserts were wide ranged enough to please all. The flour-less chocolate cake over a cream sauce made you want to lick the plate. Realize that this was their $32 price fix menu! The six of us were more than pleased and pampered. Tonight we were a group of 4 at Red. To start, the decor & background music enhanced the restaurant's ambience, lending itself to enjoyable conversation without the need to shout. Our meals were delicious & freshly prepared. We weren't an easy group since I needed a totally Sodium free dinner. In spite of the lack of sodium, my dish of whole wheat pasta with chicken, asparagus, mushrooms were quite tasty. However, for us, the pinnacle of our dining experience was when Nino Antuzzi, the owner, after asking us how everything was brought another serving of salmon with fennel & quinoa after my husband said the meal was delicious but he didn't have enough to eat! A fairy god mother among restaurants. We held our rehearsal dinner at Red. WOW talk about food and service. They closed the main restaurant for us. It was wonderful. The food was amazing, from the tomato bisque with goat cheese to the coconut tiramisu. And the service was outstanding. The staff is professional and courteous. There are very few restaurants that have the ability to have a client walk in a stranger and walk out a friend. I remembered Red because I looked at this location for a private party a while ago, although I had never eaten here. Well, there is a reason why this place has been her for a long time. Went last night for my sons 23rd birthday. From the moment I walked in the service was pretty much unlike any other and we go to some pretty upscale places in NYC and Palm Beach. The entire night they made it very special. All of them there. They sang Happy Birthday and allowed us to bring in an ice cream cake with no service charge. Went for restaurant week last year and still talk about it. Delicious food, great ambiance, most amazing flourless chocolate cake - ever. We went fairly early on a weeknight and the chef came out towards the end of our meal to see how we enjoyed everything. One person could only finish half their dessert and wanted to take it home, and the chef brought us out a brand new one instead of sending us home with the leftovers. This place is simply amazing. I have been here on numerous occasions- it's my go to place when I have family or friends visiting. My mother in law threw me an amazing wedding shower here a couple of years ago. Let's start with the food. I usually do an appetizer, a salad, an entree and then dessert. Believe me, I don't eat the whole day so I can make sure I eat as many different things when I come here. It's that good. I love fish so I try to stick with seafood dishes because they are always so fresh and delicious. My husband is the pasta man and he has never been disappointed. They change their menu every once in a while which keeps things exciting but these are some of the things that I've had and absolutely loved: seafood salad- fresh, light, I love it in the summer but perfect anytime. The Sicilian kissed calamari is vey good. They have a tuna/salmon tartare on their prix fixe menu that is hands down my favorite thing ever. In terms of salad the ceasar is wonderful and the shaved Parmesan just brings it up a notch. Sometimes I crave an arugula salad I tried here once but they no longer have on the menu but I ask for it anyway and they make it for me: arugula, prosciutto, shaved Parmesan with a lemon vinagraitte. The. Best. For entrees you can never go wrong with the tuna. I could eat this dish every day for the rest of my life. In terms of pasta, the ravioli are fantastic and my husband loves the cavatelli. For dessert, the tiramisu never disappoints but I have a special place in my heart for the flourless chocolate cake with creme anglaise sauce. Top it off with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and you will be transported to heaven. I always finish with a hot cup of mint tea and a smile on my face. The staff is kind, attentive and very professional. The ambience is perfect, dimly lit and cozy. This is my favorite restaurant in huntington town, you won't be disappointed. read more

I had dinner here last week and was disappointed. The bread that was offered was very dry and appeared to be old. Very little butter was given for this bread and when I asked for olive oil, it wasn't very good. I had risotto and the quality was poor - very soupy and harsh tasting. Salad was ok but very small. It was supposed to have toasted nuts and apple shavings in it but they were practically non-existent. I would not recommend this restaurant. Go to Jonathan's a bit north instead. Many people must feel the same way because there were only 2 occupied for a total of 6 patrons. read more

Red used to be great on all levels. After the fire the place was closed for a long time. Once reopened, the new design is less inviting and the food and service have gone way down. It seems like the chef/owner went off to other things and the place is on autopilot. It's a real shame - the pre fire place was great. No longer worth the time or money. read more

Noise level acceptable, as rainy evening, so dining room less than half full. Imagine it would be very loud when fully occupied. Kellie, the Maitre D was hospitable and professional. Decor is dark and less inviting than I recall it being pre-renovation, when I dined the only other time. The food: Very expensive and fair at best. Had an order of empanadas. Dry chicken inside, slightly brown shell. Dipping sauce tasted like puree'd tomato-based baby food. Was told they are a new item and still being tweaked. Why I ordered empanadas any place other than Buenos Aires is beyond me. Dumb move on my part. Husband's garden salad was fine. It's salad. Enough said. Entrees: I ordered a lobster lasagne special. Execution was bizarre. Did not resemble lasagne, but rather a very compressed loaf with a somewhat hard tomato sauce covering. No evidence of béchamel sauce or noodles to speak of. No discernible evidence of lobster or taste of lobster, either. Very odd, had the appearance and taste of a Stouffer's meal. I kid you not. Sent it back in favor of the seared tuna entree, which I had had on my only other visit to Red. Cooked perfectly, very good, served with Jasmine rice. My husband ordered the short ribs. Dry, no sauce to speak of, not falling off the bone. Terrible presentation on plate. In short, terrible. Had the taste and appearance of leftovers. The chef, Nino, made his way around the dining room during our meal, chatting up regulars. He ultimately made his way to our table and at that point I believe I had already been served the aforementioned "lasagne." I nicely told him of our displeasure with our meal thus far and of the odd composition of the "lasagne", his reply to me was the following: "Do you cook?" For real. What kind of professional would say something so stupid? Yes, I happen to be a very good home cook and enjoy cooking and dining out immensely. Were that not the case, however, does this mean I should be served sub-standard food? HIs query seemed to indicate so. Creme Brûlée shared for dessert was good. My two entrees were comped. Again, Kellie was wonderful, accommodating and apologetic. Overpriced, the chef Nino has a poor attitude, the food is sub-par. So many great restaurants in town, this is not among them. Jonathan's is a much better choice if you are looking for a high end evening with food to match the price point. Not sure what is going on here since the re-opening. But, spend your $ elsewhere. read more

I felt scammed into thinking that I was going to have fine American cuisine. We started with the tuna tartar which was decent the tuna was fresh but it needed some heat to take it to the next level. We also had the lobster stuffed empanada, the filing tasted like it was imitation lobster meat, in fact it didn't even taste like lobster. For the main course I had the trio meat dinner, meatloaf was dry, the steak was ok, and the sausage was decent. It came with potato croquet which I think was frozen. My wife has the steak with frites and the fries seemed like they were also frozen and not fresh, the steak was cooked properly and seasoned nicely. When we asked for fresh pepper, the pepper poured out like it was coming out of a shaker. I just think that this restaurant is overpriced and they are cutting corners. The décor is beautiful, but the food was just mediocre and expensive. read more

I kept telling my other half that I've been wanting to go to this place for a couple of years and he totally surprised me by taking me there today. It was quiet on a Friday night compared to besito across the street but it was definitely a more intimate atmosphere. We each ordered a glass of wine. I had the riesling which was exactly how the waiter described it - crisp with a taste of green apples. We ordered the buffalo mozzarella appetizer. It was good and light. The sauce was a balsamic sauce but sweet. Then came our entrees. I ordered the sea scallops in a lobster suace. It was delicious. I'm not usually a person that prefers scallops but I dare say these were the best I've had. The lobster sauce was really good & I was glad we didn't order the lobster bisque soup special because I would image that it's the same thing. My other half ordered the duck confit over risotto. Our waiter told us Red's knows how to make risotto perfect and he was spot on. The risotto was amazing. The chef also came out of the kitchen to talk to patrons and also serve them. It was a nice touch as he was very friendly. We were too stuffed for dessert but we'll definitely be back for more! read more
