We came for brunch and they almost had to roll us out of there. They passed around oysters, shrimp cocktail and grilled pineapple with honey. Three different food stations: meat, vegetable and shrimp skewers was one; your choice of southern ham (prosciutto basically) or crab cake eggs benedicts was the second one and the third one I don't remember (mostly because I didn't quite make it there). In the middle they had lobster deviled eggs, assorted tea sandwiches and a small section with desserts. Everything was delicious and made with fresh ingredients. Yes, it's expensive but so well worth it!! Parking can be an issue but the good thing is, you can walk off a little of everything that you ate so that's a win!

The highlight was the poached eggs, eggs Benedict, bacon, potatoes, skewers and everything else was okay. Not better than like Golden Corral or a standard buffet. My opinion is skip the brunch for that price, unless you really like oysters LOL. Also if I had little kids, would never waste money on brunch here.

For dessert the table split the red velvet bread pudding (we were stuffed) and I immediately started searching for copy cat recipes for that. It was decadent. Service was impeccable. I chose the upgraded lobster bisque (+$5) and Chilean sea bass (+$10), looking forward to treating myself. I rarely splurge on a nice dinner, so this was something I had been excited about all day. The food was mixed. The lobster bisque was flavorful, although the amount of lobster was surprisingly small. The mashed potatoes were outstanding, and the asparagus was very good. The Chilean sea bass was cooked well but lacked seasoning and wasn't the memorable entrée I expected. The biggest disappointment, however, was the service. The restaurant was less than half full during my visit, so the extended delays were especially surprising. I waited an unusually long time for my entrée while guests who arrived after me were served first. Another surprise was that the only restroom I was directed to required going down to the basement, which was difficult with my mobility issues (I need my knee replaced). I would encourage the restaurant to make it clearer whether there is an accessible restroom available on the main floor, as this could be challenging for many guests. After another long wait for dessert, I asked to have my crème brûlée boxed because the delays meant I would now be walking back to my hotel after dark. I explained that I had intentionally walked there for exercise and had planned to walk back before dark. The response I received was simply, "Just call an Uber." That completely missed the point. I wasn't asking for transportation--I was explaining how the delays had changed my evening. To add to the confusion, I was given two desserts instead of the one I requested. While I appreciate the gesture if it was intended that way, it reinforced the feeling that no one was really listening. What disappointed me most wasn't simply the wait. It was the complete lack of service recovery. No sincere apology, no acknowledgment of how long I'd waited, and no effort to make the experience feel special. I've always thought of Eddie V's as one of Charlotte's premier dining experiences. That's exactly why this visit was so disappointing. I sincerely hope this was an isolated experience because I'd like to remember Eddie V's for the exceptional restaurant it has been in the past.

Big disappointment yesterday. Red Rocks is not what it was when we first started going there a couple years ago. To begin with, our waiter had this beard that was braided up in two pieces. It was VERY unappetizing to look at, not professional, and not clean cut. He was nice and attentive, but management should require their waiters to have, at the very least, a short, trimmed beard. Our food came out rather quickly, which led me to believe that it wasn't freshly made. I had chicken with lemon "sauce". Upon first glance, this sauce had a "skin" on it-as if it had been reheated, and the consistency of it was somewhat lumpy. Anyway, I wasn't impressed. My husband and sons' hamburgers were dripping with grease and the bacon was floppy and undercooked. The ambiance was so loud, that it was hard to hear yourself talk. All told, our bill for 4 people was around $130. Way too expensive for simple meals which lacked quality. I wish we could say we'll be back, but we probably won't. read more

We normally go to Red Rocks in Ballantyne but decided to try this one out as it was closer for us. It happened to be restaurant week. Although we were excited they had our favorite dishes, we were disappointed in the portion sizes. I feel that they were way smaller than they should have been. The she crab soup was amazing, and so was dinner- we just left a little hungry. I wish i knew the sizes were going to be smaller- I would have ordered something else. I got the 1885 chicken sandwich (AMAZING) & the Brussels sprouts (alright). My sister got the steak sandwich a truffle fries. Fries and chicken sandwich were really good. The steak sandwich was good but heavy for lunch and likely would've been better at dinnertime and paired well with a beer, though neither of us got drinks. Overall a good experience.

A few of us were early for our reservation and chose to sit at the bar while waiting for the rest of our party. The bartender was very nice and although we decided on mocktails, she gave us celebratory champagne once finding out it was my birthday! After being seated, our waiter( who's name slips my mind) was absolutely amazing! He gave great recommendations, was very attentive, and kept a smile on our faces the entire evening. Now, what we ordered...a little of everything. We started off with some shareables. The Low Country Crab Dip, Local Mushrooms, and the Thai Peanut Calamari. Individually, we each had some type of salad, and for our main course Sea Bass w/Succotash, and Bavette Steak and Fries and The Halibut. Each dish was beautifully presented and incredibly delicious! Cocktails and wine accompanied the meal. We then shared desserts and had some to spare. We indulged on the Apple Crisp, Cheesecake, and Double Chocolate Cake. All in all we had a an Amazing evening. We laughed, we were served well, the food was impeccable and I highly recommend it to others! I'm looking forward to dining here again when I return to Charlotte for a visit. The manager personally came to our table and assisted the waiter in ensuring we were satisfied. But they forgot one thing - the side loft veggies I ordered, but I was so full, I forgot about it. But I would totally return. Perfect date night spot. Couldn't be more perfect. And nice for groups as well like a fancy birthday celebration. After taking a few bites of the first one, I noticed something tasted off but initially thought it might just be me. I cut into a second scallop and while the first taste seemed normal, the more I chewed it, the stronger a chemical-like flavor became. The only way I could describe it was that it tasted like cleaning products. When I mentioned it to our waitress, she immediately asked if it tasted like ammonia. I said yes, exactly. She told me that sometimes this happens but assured me it wasn't because the scallops were bad. She offered to replace my meal and suggested lamb, which I don't eat, so i choose the chicken dish she suggested instead. By the time the replacement arrived, my husband and daughter were nearly finished with their meals, and honestly, I had lost my appetite. The chicken was somewhat dry, although the potatoes were very good. I only ate a couple of bites. What disappointed me most was the lack of management involvement. At no point did a manager visit our table to discuss the issue, apologize, or check on the situation. After the replacement meal, we were simply presented with the bill. We weren't asked if we would like to look at the desert menu and I was charged for the chicken replacement that I took two bites from. After getting home, I researched scallops with an ammonia taste and found that it can indicate handling or freshness issues. Thankfully, I haven't become seriously ill, though I did experience an upset stomach for the entire evening afterward. I'm glad my husband and daughter enjoyed their meals and I had been looking forward to trying this restaurant for quite some time. Unfortunately, based on my experience, I won't be returning.
