Unique! High Energy! Fun! For tastings, you get guitar picks to choose your wine picks. Some of their bottles are bottled in alcohol bottles instead of the typical wine shaped bottle. We purchased a bourbon barrel aged Cabernet Franc that is in a bourbon style bottle. So neat! I definitely recommend stopping here if you are visiting wineries in the area. Red Top is a relatively newer winery in the area and offers a great outdoor space and live music. We've only sampled a couple of their wines and it's hard to find a nice light, Michigan wine that isn't too sweet. Their Caribbean Twist is unique and tastes more like a pina colada than a glass of wine - cut it with a little sparkling water or club soda and you have a refreshing summer drink. They offer two bottles for $16 which is a great deal for the area. They offer a few snacks for purchase and there is often a food truck or food vendor there with options for purchase. They haven't seemed to mind us bringing in our own snacks either. We look forward to trying more of their offerings! read more

The best thing about this winery is the outdoor space and live music. Clean restrooms. We have not had the best luck with their wine - a lot of sweet white. I can typically find a nice cider to enjoy. Current choice is raspberry-cherry. Tastings are $15 for 6 tastings and they no longer let you keep the tasting glass. Cider is $24 for a 4 pack. What a great "newer" winery right in the center of wine the county in Michigan! I believe they've been around for at least a year but I have just recently had a chance to visit them. Love, love, love, that they weren't crazy busy like all of the other wineries surrounding them. The atmosphere is very relaxed and we sat and enjoyed herself for hours. It was beautiful and shaded. Plenty of picnic tables and seating for groups and couples. They also have live music going, which I hear is typical on the weekends. They have ample room outside to sit and enjoy tastings or a bottle of wine. They welcome you to bring your own food and snacks to eat outside. Their tastings are $10 for five tastings and you get to keep the glass. And all of the tastings are on tap. How cool is that? It ensures is the freshest poured wine! This was my favorite of the wineries we tasted at over the past couple days. The wines in southern Michigan in general were different than what I normally drink but it has been fun to venture outside of my normal box. What made this winery so great was the bartender, Kevin. He was friendly and inviting. I tried a cucumber cider and the turtle cider which were unlike anything I'd ever had before. And I really enjoyed the Rose wines which I normally find to be on the sweet side. read more

Red top winery was great. We went here for a bachelorette party and it was so much fun. The outdoor seating was beautiful with a look out into the vineyards and it had a ton of space. They have a cute truck for photo ops and a cozy interior. The wine is delicious too. I ended up getting two bottles. Full discloser, I like my wines sweet and fruity. Basically, like adult grape juice or any number of fruity concoctions. I loved their selection. Usually wineries have 1 or 2 choices for fruity wines, but not here. They have a plethora of choices. If that is your thing, red top is definitely the place to try. If not, they offer more. They have dry reds and whites plus more savory undertones such as vanilla. I would check this place out purely because it was such a nice hangout spot. read more

This place is so different than the other wineries we went to. Unique flavors and not a snobby winery either, very laid back which was a breath of fresh air! My husband and I are not wine snobs so we felt this was the place that fit our personality the most. They have an excellent cucumber basil cider and a very interesting jalepeno cider. I forgot the name of the girl who served us the wines but she did an excellent job at not being pushy and gave great information (she said her first day was 5 days ago so I'm impressed with her knowledge). Do not recommend it here if you want to have a fun, nice day with a group. They refused us as we were a large group and said they only take groups of 15. We had 16 girls and one was not drinking. We offered to split into multiple groups but they refused us and were extremely rude. Highly recommend taking your business elsewhere - Round Barn, Gravity, and Hickory Creek were all amazing experiences for us. read more

The staff is nice and the décor is modern. We honestly did not love the flavors of the wine here very much but it is a matter of preference. If you want your wine to taste like bananas and pineapple, this is the place for you. The service was fine though so I am sure many other people will like it. read more

My favorite winery of our Michigan trip so far. They have some interesting types of wines here, which are aged in rum, tequila, cognac and bourbon barrels. It gives each of the wines a most unique flavor. We did one $12 tasting for 6 tastes, plus did an extra tasting for $2. We liked almost everything we tried except Le Vin. Their wines were on tap, it was most interesting. Some had a beautiful color to them. It was really neat place. We ended up taking home Caribbean Twist (tasted like a pina colada wine), MI Happy Wine (so good and unique) and Lake Effect (a beautiful blue wine with a sparkling fruit wine taste), 2 bottles of Bourbon Barrel Cabernet Franc (not too dry or sweet, strong hints of bourbon oak), and Radiant Red (a really good semi sweet red). Mary helped us and she was super friendly and attentive, staying with us and one other group the entire time. There was a little bit of food you could buy from a cooler to do the tastings, if you wanted (pre-packaged items). With every 3 bottles, you receive $12 off. Just letting you know, my review has nothing to do with the quality of their wine because I was not allowed to have any. We called in advance, and the person on the phone told us that they did have accommodation for dogs on the outside. We were excited to go here for the first time, and we're completely turned off from the rudeness of the individual inside that told us we absolutely could not have a dog. Big mistake... Has to be our favorite winery in Michigan! It's not your typical stuffy winery. All of their wines are carbonated which makes them light and refreshing. By serving their wines this way and keeping them all fresh in stainless steel kegs, they're able to provide more sparkling wine options and use less bottles that would eventually end up in landfills. My favorite wine of theirs right now is the all-new Le Vin, a Cognac Barrel Aged Chambourcin of the Bourbon Barrel Aged Cabernet Franc, a dry red with enticing bourbon aromas. The Rum Barrel White is a must-try as well because where else can you find a white wine aged in rum barrels from the Virgin Islands? If you're more of a cider person, their Raspberry Cherry hard cider is just like sweet, bubblegum lemonade or the Hollerpeno hard cider - an intense, spicy jalapeño aroma with a tangy, peppery flavor. This winery is not enforcing social distancing. The tasting area was super crowded and very few people were wearing masks. We felt really uncomfortable and unsafe. The wine and the cider is all so sweet that we gave away our last tasting tokens to another couple. The only reason I'm giving it 2 stars instead of 1 is because there were many places to sit outside with live music and bags. We will never be back- there are so many other wineries in the area to choose from. read more

What a neat concept - wine on tap! We tried most of the reds and found them to be very good. Our server was very knowledgeable and funny. He filled us in on the winery, which is a lovely building. We didn't get outside, but it appears to have a wonderful view. Another creative idea was using guitar picks to keep track of how many wine picks you have. We ended up buying a couple of bottles and will definitely be back when we can enjoy the patio and live music. read more

This is my 3rd time on the Lake Michigan Wine Trail and I was pleasantly surprised by Red Top! We came here to stop for a Bachelorette party wine tour. I loved the atmosphere here! The facility is so spacious inside and not to mention they have a HUGE outdoor patio/backyard area. There was a live band playing and they also had a food truck parked out back! The atmosphere felt like you walked into a local street festival or backyard BBQ that just so happened to have wine tastings available. You're able to do a tasting with 5 tokens and a souvenir wine glass for $10 which is a steal! They had a great mix of reds, whites, sparkling wines and ciders! I tried a cider that had a jalapeno kick to it and my taste buds were all over the place! Such great quality wine here and the atmosphere takes it to that next level.
