We chose this restaurant for dinner because we were heading to a show at the Bergen PAC but we won't be back. The woman who was tending to the tables (Claudia) could be one of the owners but she's not attentive at all and is unfriendly. A bad combo in my opinion. She's one of those waitresses that slams the food down and walks away quickly, not asking if you need anything else and being sure not to make eye contact with you so she doesn't have to get you anything else, you know the type. In addition we usually start with water and Claudia slammed 2 bottles of water on the table, never mentioning that they charge for water. What good restaurant does that? Yes, a lot of restaurants will ask if you want tap or bottled but there was no conversation about it at all. I don't know of many places that always charge for water. Seems like a money grab to me, right? We ordered chicken Parmesan with a side of pasta and neither were good; very bland and neither the chicken or the tomato sauce had flavor. There's also really no ambiance in there at all, very basic as far as looks but if the food was good then it wouldn't matter. I think a lot of people go there (like we did) because of its proximity to the Bergen PAC but that's not enough reason to try it. Folks, a heads up that when you're looking at the reviews of this establishment take a look at the dates on the reviews; you'll see the more recent ones are bad. Excellent food! We tried this Italian restaurant out this weekend and it was really good! I had the spaghetti with meatballs and the meatballs were great, well flavored, soft and tasty. The sauce was really good too. OMG the clams steamed in beer were awesome! Goes great with some cold beers! The clams oreganata, and eggplant rollatini were also excellent. Just tried Red, White, and Pasta with friends (4 adults, 4 kids) for the first time. The first impression upon walking in is very good, it's updated and clean and has nice copper ceilings. The menu is family style and can provide a different adventure each time you return. They offer half portions for 1-2 diners or full portions for family style dining. We chose 3 half size appetizers, "Burnt Broccoli", arancini, and calamari. The broccoli was fantastic, perfect texture and flavor. The arancini were excellent and the calamari was very tender. We ordered half portions for our entrees. The chicken savoy is a delicious on the bone chicken dish, very flavorful. We had an excellent pork chop dish and the country pork chop special, both were juicy and well prepared. We had an eggplant Parmesan sandwich that was huge even though it was the half size. The kids had the mussels appetizer for an entree, two half orders of spaghetti and meatballs (one would have been plenty) and Pasta with butter. The kids were certainly happy with their meals. The service was solid throughout dinner and the quite personable owner checked on us to make sure everything was enjoyable. It certainly was and all of it was had for $100 per family. My sister in law suggested this place for a nice Sunday dinner. Who doesn't like Italian AND BYOB? My husband and I were starving when we got here and decided to order appetizers to start while waiting for my in laws. We got the family style fried calamari, bruschetta (that wasn't on the menu, which was kinda odd for an Italian place), and these cheesy rice balls (sorry, couldn't remember the name!). Before going on with the food review, this was a really cute place, as most places are in Englewood. It had an old school/modern feel with simple dark wooden tables and chairs and cute little decor around the restaurant. Back to the food! There is an option to order half (1-2 people) or a whole portion (3-4 people). This is a great idea for family style, for people who eat less than others, and a great idea to try different dishes, especially if you're here with a large group. Since we had so many appetizers, my husband and I split a baked ziti which was way more than enough. We ended up eating only half the baked ziti between the two of us and took the other half home. It's hard for me to rate Italian food because it's a lot of the same things. The baked ziti was delicious though with crazy melted cheese on top, which as a cheese lover, really enjoyed. The fried calamari was soooo good...if I didn't have to worry about health issues of eating too much fried food, I'd eat that whole plate myself. There's also a take out menu which offers delivery and pizza. It would've been nice if they also did brick oven pizza here, but the menu is extensive enough with salads, chicken, seafood and pasta. I think I'd come back here if I was in the mood for some good Italian food. I know I'd definitely consider this place for catering and take out too since there really isn't any GOOD Italian take out around my in laws. The prices aren't too bad either, especially if you're ordering the whole sized portions that can easily feed 4 ( depending on everyone's appetite). We came here for my niece's birthday and it was a fanatic family meal. Small portions serve 1-2 people (really 2) while larger portions serve 3-4 (really 4). We ordered: - tri colore pear and apple salad, dynamite, would have as a meal - veal parmigiana, very good - fra diavolo shrimp, cooked perfectly -zuppa de mussels in white wine -zuppa de pesce, broth was dynamite, ate by the spoonful - burnt broccoli, broccoli prepared with a crisp char I left completely stuffed!!! I was charged for 75 adults instead of 50 adults and 25 kids. Called the owner, he acknowledged, he spent the next month swearing he reimbursed me, and the next 3 weeks after that ignoring and not returning my calls. Like another reviewer, I took a look at the menu and saw that it didn't mention pasta, however I did see other tables who received pasta with theirs. Hopefully it's just the early bumps and they'll hammer out everything soon. Speaking of bumps. There were several times that our table of three was given two sets of something, and the third had to wait. For instance, we were missing a bread plate for a while and our food was set down without any of us having silverware. (They had been cleared with our salad dishes.) They quickly brought out silverware, but again only two sets. I immediately let the server know we needed another set and she acknowledged my request. A couple of minutes later, I still hadn't received silverware for my hot meal. I caught her attention again and she knew exactly what I needed and apologized, but still kind of annoying. First of all everything is ala cart. In another words if you want Eggplant Parmesan, pasta was extra. Not cool as far as I am concerned. Food portions are ranked as "Half" and "Full". The waiter said the half portion is for 1 - 2 people. More like one. Food was OK, I have had much better. I thought for the quality of the food, the price was expensive.
