My first time here. And it was amazing. Food was delicious. My chicken fried steak was delicious. Mash potatoes was absolutely delicious . My boyfriend enjoyed his burger. I love the fries. Thank you Red Zone for being so great! We will return. The service was good. Atmosphere was great

We tried this place because it was rated 4.5 stars. We expected old school greasy spoon, but it's not quite there. The burger was sonic quality. The curly fried fries taste like old fish. They need to change the grease. The peppers were missing from the burger. Dr. Pepper was forgotten until we asked for it on the way out. Salad was good. My chicken was really late, then brought out with a slice of bread on top after I said I was allergic to wheat. Corn and mashed potatoes instead of the requested broccoli. She did bring extra dish of fresh broccoli after. Need ceiling tiles, grease trap, and filters changed. Bathroom was decent, but toilet wasn't flushing and sink is permanently stained, plus more dirty ceiling tiles and filters. Maybe breakfast foods are better here??

My husband and I were in town for an early dr appointment and were wanting a good breakfast before leaving. The other reviews for this place had me sold already. We were not disappointed! Service was fast and friendly and the food was really good. We both had biscuits and gravy with sausage on the side. We got it fast and were able to enjoy our meal. Next time I'm in town, definitely coming back for breakfast read more

I've been a regular customer of The Red Zone for quite some time, but I kept hearing about a cafe on highway 1585. I decided to try it, and was really disappointed. The food and service does not compare with The Red Zone. So, long story short, I'm back to my favorite cafe in Lubbock. read more

This is definitely our go-to place when we can't decide for sure where to go, or what we want. I have NEVER had a bad meal there, and we eat the eat least two or three times a month. Their enchiladas are AMAZING! Great for breakfast, lunch, or supper! Rarely a wait (except Saturday mornings), but it's never a long one. I stopped in here on my way to ABQ! The facilities are what they are, but the food was great. The Waitress I had was extremely quick and very Pleasant! They didn't have what I wanted on the menu, so I was accommodated with two eggs, hash browns, chorizo and tortillas! I think the food came within 5 min after being ordered! Probably the fastest service I've ever had! I would definitely come back again! read more

This is an average cafe. It has a good selection but some of the portions are just bad. The pork chops are so thin that they might was well be paper. The chicken fried stake is pre breaded. The food is always hot & my order is usually correct. Their breakfast is great! read more

Had Sunday breakfast here while visiting my son at Tech. I highly recommend the Red Zone Breakfast Burrito. Great combination of eggs, veggies, and sausage. It was a bit busy, but the waitress was a delight and the service was fast. The owner was there hustling right along with the staff, also with a big smile. read more

Total Diner....Totally Great. If you are expecting a 5 star eatery...stay away...if you want great service, go with the flow, hang with the locals and enjoy a blue plate special....go forth and conquer. I had grilled chiken with the Veggie of the Day, mashed taters, plus a cup of Chicken Gumbo...all was wonderful. I like my mashed taters with a little more of the skins and lumpier but hey that is just me...this is straight up out of the scooper with the rounded top b.c they were done with the ice cream spoon hahaha. Service is friendly and everyone knows everyone. I did not see anyone smoking or ashtrays on the tables so that was a plus for me. Parking is a little tricky. They also have a drive thru. Prices you cannot beat! Easy location too. Support your local community...do not eat at the chain places. read more

Great service despite the fact that the place was packed. It is nice to go to a place where employees seem to actually enjoy what they are doing! The food was very good. I had the chicken fried steak; tender, great breading, the gravy was top notch and the mashed potatoes and green beans were very good. For under $7 this was an excellent value. As we were preparing to leave the Lone Star State, my Sis in law told us to hit this place for breakfast. What a fabulous suggestion! The place was packed at 7am! I mean, cops, public works people, construction people. You name it, if they had to be up early, they were here! And I know exactly why, the food. It was fresh and fantastic. The pancakes were light and fluffy, and the bacon was not burned to a crisp like other places. Mu husband and his bro each had 3eggs over hard with potatos and sausage. It just seemed like alot of food to me. I had the pancakes and bacon and was perfectly happy. The menu isn't very varied for breakfast, but since the food gets to you piping hot, that's fine by me. The kicker, &23 for 3 people for breakfast! Can't beat that! read more

While in Lubbock for graduation the Red Zone Cafe was recommended to us. We absolutely loved it! The owner welcomed us and recommended the Ham Steak (excellent choice) and our waitress was friendly and attentive. The food was wonderful! We would love to visit again. Good breakfast food for way cheap. A couple can eat for $13, and that would be spendy. My husband gets a burrito that is less than $2 and I load up on coffee and an omelet or French toast or a migas-style breakfast with beans and tortillas. Good people-watching of the local farmers and their wives, and just West Texas People. I love it. It is one of the more authentic experiences of true Lubbock if you are here to go to Tech and live mostly in the Tech bubble. :) What's not to love? read more

Been calling in Lubbock for years and finally tripped across this place. Just wanted a diner breakfast. I got that and a whole lot of hospitality on top of it. I had a basic breakfast and it was excellent, but Marcel (the sweet lady that took care of me) made the experience fun. She explained all the options and was just super pleasant to visit with. I will definitely come back next time to Lubbock. read more

This place is great! All their breakfast is amazing! Everything comes out within minutes, and the staff is super friendly and attentive. Everything on their menu is also extremely cheap!!! For three people our ticket ended up only being 20 something dollars. This is a great place for a quick breakfast or lunch. Everything on their menu is great so don't be afraid to try something new! read more

This place has gone down hill since the new owner took over. The service is slow and your food doesn't come out at the same time. People shouldn't have to wait 10 minutes for their door to come out while everyone else at your table is eating. I remember when Saturday nights were packed and now at 730 pm there's 6 tables occupied. Spanish rice shouldn't be crispy and the beans taste like they came out of a can. Saw a couple come in and wait for service while the waitresses stood around talking. The couple eventually walked out. Very disappointing. read more

First time my friends and I visited this Restaraunt. The food was fairly good, kind of chewy pancakes and they couldn't figure out how to cook crispy bacon. Other than that everything was okay. Probably wouldn't go out of my way to visit again. Not bad though. read more

Fantastic comfort food, they even took kindly to an Aggie here :). Definitely a hot spot for locals, we visited on a Friday evening (non) home game weekend and it was busy but didn't have to wait. The wait staff and chicken fried steak were fantastic. Lots of cool TTU memorabilia on the walls. Don't be turned off by the less than welcoming exterior, it's a great spot for breakfast or CFS/burgers. read more

You cannot make a bad decision here. My kids had pancakes and eggs, my wife chicken enchiladas, and I the eggs rancheros. The food was hot, fast, and delicious what more could you ask of any restaurant. My only regret was not taking pictures. read more

My "blackened chicken salad"..., salad was the same as my wife's; double-dang because I love salads and being type 2 diabetic and having high blood pressure this would have been the perfect meal for me. HOWEVER; the chicken was the worst ever because it was saltier-than-a-1820's-sailor..., horrible..., and drier than a camel's hump in the Sahari. I never knew that a chicken breast could be abused like that on purpose. So, how does such a nice looking place sell someone "absolutely ridiculously horrible food".

We never saw the kitchen manager, and as always I never disclose who I am, the service and food have improved to now being recommended for a good meal. They are however, still a tad pricey.

Service was great and "cousin" came by our table frequently. Also to note, it's not cheap and it's not fast. We knew all this going in so it wasn't an issue but something to consider if that would be a problem. Although, the price and time are completely justified. It's that good!

Both times the filling of the sandwich was very sparse. The message it was sending was, "we're too cheap to fill this sandwich" - why was there like 3 little steak bites on the cheese steak? Same with the shrimp. Why are the sandwiches not filled up? For $16+ dollars I would at least expect a full sandwich. A heaping pile of fries does not distract from this. The drinks/cocktails are good, and the quality of food is good too. I have a problem with the portions for the price.

Our experience at Red Zone Cafe was a great one! Although we experienced a small wait, our waitress, Yvette, soon swooped in and began giving us wonderful service. Yvette is such a cheerful person - she really made our day! Not only was the service amazing, the food (we ordered burgers) was phenomenal. If you haven't been here, I really recommend you try it. Our server was Sharon. Her customer service was amazing. She continually checked on us despite being busy. My husbands coffee cup stayed topped off. Her smile and demeanor helped us feel that she enjoyed serving us. Our food was amazing. When we left I asked to speak to the manager and despite being busy Mike greeted me and let me be heard.
