This place is legendary in Southwest Michigan. Burgers are very good. They use Velveeta for the cheese and the meat is of high quality as well. They have gone up in price over the years due to their every growing popularity but it is still worth the money in my opinion. Great, old school tourist style atmosphere and style. Service was very good. Down home sincerity. Food was nothing special. No idea why their burgers are, "famous?" I would definitely recommend this place but not consider the burgers anything special. The chili was pretty good, prices were kind of high for what you get. We love the place. Simple comfort food done well. Great thick milk shakes,juicy burgers,and I love the crinckle cut fries. It can get busy as the weather gets warmer but I feel it's worth the wait. They have an outdoor(enclosed deck) that is great for large groups with kids. The staff is above average on service and the price's are OK. read more

LOVE THIS PLACE!! We have been going here for years and it is amazing! Definitely my favorite burger. We often travel to New Buffalo just for Redamaks! The staff is always so friendly and the service is quick. If you don't want to wait long for a table then don't go during the prime hours. We often go around 8 or 9pm and do not have to wait. They also have a workman's special during the week until about 4 pm where you can get fries and a burger for around $5. I have tried alot of burger places but nothing compares to Redamaks. Our hotel host told us that this was THE place to eat in New Buffalo. She said that people make the trip just to eat there. We were terribly disappointed. I expected GREAT burgers that were worth the wait. Our wait was 45 minutes. I have had better food at Culvers. The burgers were dry the service was fair at best. Redamak's is one of those places where you go if you want a big, sloppy burger. I've never had to wait for a table, and I've been there at various times on various days during the week and on the weekend. The service is fast and friendly. In fact, once our waitress brought our food to us less than minutes after ordering and she actually APOLOGIZED for "slow service"! I always order the Velveeta burger with everything on it with plain fries (which aren't salted, which I like) and I haven't been disappointed yet! read more

We have a cabiin in the area and we were told that Redamak's was a must stop place. Well, we encountered a major wait to get seated (building our anticipation that this must be a great place). Pretty much disappointed when we finally got seated and received our food. Not the best service and very average food (at best). I thought it was very pricey for what you got too. We tried this place one more time a few months later when we have family from Chicago with us and we had the same experience. We can say we tried it, but will most likely not be back. read more

Excellent going in but it's a great thing they are only seasonal otherwise I would gain like 70 lbs.

We've been going to this place for years and years. And in the last several years it seems to be declining as far as the burgers go. Tonight did it for me. There was no taste to it, it was so well done, chewy, and tasted like cardboard. Even with some condiments on it, I couldn't eat it. I told the waitress, she took it and said she was going to tell the chef. She came back with the bill and nothing had changed. No comments about what the chef might've said, and no charges taken off the bill. My husband had sloppy Joe and said that tasted fine. The french fries are still crinkly and taken out of a bag and rather cold upon arrival to the table. Not real sure that we will be coming back there again for our annual trek to New Buffalo. There are plenty of other restaurants to try in the area! We were sorely disappointed and decided that all the people that flock there are going simply on the reputation of this restaurant. I was born and raised in SW MI and remember going to Redamak's years ago and it was fantastic. Our family still drives right by on our trips back and forth from the Chicago area to visit family in MI and this time we finally decided to make a trip to Redamak's. We went on a Monday about 1pm and had a 10 minute wait. I was surprised how busy they were for a Monday! I ordered a hamburger with everything, lettuce and tomato, my husband ordered the double cheeseburger, same toppings and then we ordered the chicken nugget meal for the kids plus a side of sweet potato waffle fries. We had very high expectations but really, I could get a better burger anywhere. It's nothing special and the regular fries were just horrible. The chicken nuggets were rubbery. The food was cold and we would have complained but the kids were on the verge of crazy so we just ate and wondered what in the world everyone thinks is so great about this place. The sweet potato waffle fries and my sons chocolate milk were the best things at our table! I am SO happy I did NOT order the fish wrap because I am confident that would have been a huge disappointment. I don't know what all the fuss is about this place. At least we didn't waste a lot of time waiting but I did waste a lot of calories eating this stuff. If you're looking for another good local place to eat try the Stray Dog. read more

Was on my way through town and needed a meal and coffee, saw the sign, heard of the place so my wife and I stopped here. Something to drink? I'll have coffee. We don't have coffee. No coffee? None at all? Not asking for caramel mocha latte, just a cup of joe. Never heard of a sit-down restaurant that doesn't even offer coffee. Ordered a burger, wife ordered a chicken sandwich. Her meal came with fries on a nice plate. My burger was wrapped in wax paper and unceremoniously rolled at me. What's this? Your burger. Where are the fries? You didn't order any. I thought the burger would come with fries. You read the menu wrong. Um, thanks. They don't take credit cards, nor debit cards, nor checks. Cash only. Seriously, who carries cash anymore? Get with the program. "We have an ATM in our lobby for the convenience of our customers." More like the inconvenience of the customers. Probably get a piece of the action off it too. The burger was okay, but not nearly as good as 5 Guys or Smashburger. So let's recap: no coffee, no fries, no plate, no credit cards, no debit, cash only, but plenty of attitude, greed, and arrogance. No coming back. read more

Haven't been to Redamak's for several years and made the mistake of having a meal there. It was horrendous! They used to have freshly made fries - now they are limp and frozen from a bag. Completely tasteless. We actually waited to get in, and was that a mistake! There is no air conditioning, and it was suffocatingly hot. They only take cash, and I guess I can see why. The orders were completely messed up and took forever. The waitress was surly - we asked for 2 checks and everything came on one. The noise level was unbearable - we couldn't even communicate at our table with each other. Slow service, wrong order. I had asked for mayonnaise on the side - my chicken burger came without anything, and 20 minutes later when I got my mayo, my chicken was cold. The shakes are right out of a machine and tasteless. A giant thumbs down to Redamaks - keep driving. Oh, and they don't serve coffee - what's up with that?!? Hmmm, cash only restaurant...makes you wonder. read more

So I've been to Redamaks a gazillion times. My husband loves the cheese burgers and we always know we will get in and out. It's completely kid and family friendly, which is great because we have a 2 year old. Usually I am not overly excited to do Redamaks because it's mainly fried food and I prefer to eat healthier. So yesterday our refrigerator was completely empty and I was too tired to grocery shop. We opted to go out and of course my husband suggested Redamaks since he wanted a beer and a burger. I figured "welp, here goes my diet!"...But to my surprise the menu has really been revamped with some healthier choices for those who don't want to indulge too much. There was an asparagus sandwich that sounded really good. Also a selection of unique salads all made with Green Spirit Farms (local) greens. I got a fresh salad with avocado, onion, cilantro, black beans, and corn. It was REALLY good. So my husband got his fix and I left feeling pretty good about not going crazy with the calories. They also have a vegetarian burger on the menu that is really good. read more

I am amazed at some of the reviews of this place and am wondering if these people were even at the right spot. How any 1 person could say that a single cheeseburger and a basket full of fries wasn't enough is crazy. I have never left this place hungry. As for the hockey pucks between 2 buns, really! I have eaten here for 25+ years, I have been there at their busiest times, slowest times and everything in between and have yet to see a hockey puck. I always love when I read a restaurant review and people rave about the hamburger, I show up to a frozen patty heated and then topped with a million condiments to mask the flavor!! You don't need a tomato because the hamburger taste good with out. Now is this the best hamburger in the world, probably not. However, if you are within 45 miles of the place it is worth stopping in. Eat at Redamak's, head to the lake and watch the sun setting and then stop by Oink's for ice cream. People need to learn what is good in life! :) read more
