We had tried Reds Bistro for lunch. We enjoyed the ambience and found the food to be delicious. We had enjoyed lunch so much we decided to try dinner, so my husband and I treated our daughter and son-in-law to a evening meal. The oysters were a great starter with some fresh baked bread. Both were delicious. We shared a bottle of Bordeaux from the extensive wine list. We got the halibut, lamb chops, fettuccine and prawns and grilled New York steak. All of the food was well prepared and seasoned perfectly. All of the proteins were the appropriate temperature. The wait staff was polite, knowledgeable and attentive during both visits. I highly recommend Red Bistro and will be returning again. read more

Disappointed. Food and service were off! We were the 2nd table seated at 5:15pm and it took almost an hour to get our food. Drinks and apps came out timely but our entrees took way too long and by the time the food arrived it was cold. read more

A big shout out to Reds Bistro. We have been a frequent supporter and fan since they opened but the last few times we went we were not super happy with the food and long wait times. We heard about the new chef (Chopped Champion and many more accolades) and new menu and decided to try it last night. Service was great, the food was delicious and we are excited that Reds is back! Loved the ambiance! The restaurant decor is perfect. Loved the small, quiet atmosphere. Service was fantastic. Only complaint is the $38 chicken dish was so incredibly salty we couldn't finish it. We felt bad but we sent it back to the kitchen half eaten. They took $8 off our bill in the end but I think they should have comped the chicken dish completely. It was definitely double salted somehow accidentally. Overall we enjoyed our experience and would love to go back. read more

I will give Red's a 4.5 rating. This was the first time experience here. We came at PM and took advantage of their happy hour. The ambience was nice, the service was wonderful, the food was very good. The only negative I would say is that it is noisy. But that seems to be pretty common. We ordered the half oyster appetizer and I had the double half a rack of lamb, which was very tasty and generous. I took half home for another meal. My wife ordered the lobster roll and was happy with her choice. I would recommend Red's, unless you want a quiet romantic dinner. read more

My friend and decided to give Reds a try. We sat at the bar as it was packed. The menu is ala carte. We started wit a beer. Since I am not a beer drinker I wanted to make sure the glass was ice cold and the waitress assured me it was. It took 10 minutes to get the beer and it was Luke warm. We then ordered 1/2 dozen oysters and Mac and cheese. If you like oysters the size of a penny you will like them here but for $21 it was a robbery. The Mac and cheese was awesome. We both ordered the halibut and while it was good and the sauce was great the portion was small. All in all it was overpriced for what we got. Neat place if you want to get a glass of wine but for the money stay away. read more

Not going back a second time. The restaurant's policy of automatically adding in the tip for parties over 6 is a recipe for negligent, inattentive and uncaring service. They know they're getting a tip no matter what, so why even try. Why make any extra effort to make a $300+ meal an experience to recommend to others. They also automatically add in an extra 3% credit card fee, without bothering to first ask if you'd like to pay cash to avoid the fee (we brought cash for this reason!). Aside from that, the food was mediocre for what you pay. The best thing about this place was every staff member we encountered except for our waitress (water server and host/hostess) was nice, and the decor and ambiance are great. I may have given it a second try, but the waitress ruined it. Management - please change your tipping policy and potentially gain repeat customers! read more

Before reviewing Reds, I made sure to try it a few times. During my first visit in Nov 2021, I was impressed by the farm to table food, the ambiance, the cocktails. It's rare to find quality food in the area. I had the butternut squash pasta and it was delicious. It was also the only vegetarian item on the menu. The second time I visited in December, I the had the same dish because there were no other veg options. My meal was good, as I was expecting. My third visit in January, I had a mushroom pasta dish! I was glad to see the change in their menu. We also had the sourdough bread. My dish was above average. Not the same quality as my first visit. Today, I visited for the 4th time! I was disappointed. The quinoa salad was over dressed. The mushroom sandwich was average, the mushrooms lacked flavor and were still wet.... You know what I mean if you've cooked with mushrooms a lot. Each time I return, I am slightly more disappointed. I rate this place 3.5 stars overall, but maybe 4 stars because of the area and the lack of good food here. Reds is trying, and I desperately want to love this place but I am slowly losing hope. read more

We used to live in Sacramento and would go to Red's. Now we live in Foresthill and still go to Red's on a night out. Delicious food, great staff, extremely well prepared food. Oysters for appetizers, fresh and light flavor. Would've eaten 12 dozen if I could! Scallop risotto was perfectly prepared, the entire dish needed more salt, and for $30+ dollars the dish could use at least 3 scallops. You are served 2 really amazing scallops over a healthy bowl of risotto. Well done guys. The snitzchel sandwich had a perfect crispy crust, the meat was juicy, and the bun was soft with a perfect slaw salad topping. Again, needed more salt but prepared really well. The fries had a good crisp fluffy texture. And ketchup with a hint of spice. Everything was excellent. Good wine and beer as well as cocktails. Trying out the ribeye next time we go....hope it's a show stopper. read more

Oysters were fresh, halibut was cooked perfectly, the mac and cheese was to die for, one of the best I've ever had, and the crème brûlée melts in your mouth. Went there for the first time and was disappointed. Food was Ok but the tables are so close together that the negative environment overwhelmed the food. We were sat next to a table with two gentlemen that were so close to us and so loud that I couldn't hear my wife talk. There were other tables available that weren't so close together. I wish I had insisted that we were sat at one of them. We got through dinner as fast as we could, without talking to each other as we couldn't hear anything, got our check and left. Our meal was $100 and we had no drinks, only water. I understand that you need to charge a premium for food and drinks to make ends meet but cramming tables together to maximize income takes away from the experience. Had previously been to this place several times, and the food and service had been great. We were so disappointed when we saw the menu had been pared down to just a few dishes. Service was poor. Our waitress never mentioned the specials to us, and she seemed like she really didn't want to be there. I ordered the rigatoni, and it had no taste whatsoever. My husband's cesar salad was just ok, nothing to rave about. Our waitress, Amy, never asked if we wanted dessert. What a great place!! We had dinner here for the first time this weekend after hearing about it from a few friends. From the moment we walked in, the host and the atmosphere, we knew that we'd have a good experience. After being seated, the owner came up to us, we talked and told us about his family, including his son, who is the chef. Our waitress was a very pleasant woman too.
