    Steve was fabulous

We were celebrating our son's 29th birthday. Steve made the night fabulous. The oysters and duck were amazing. We love Loomis!

You would not know it, but this is the beet salad.

We grabbed dinner on a recent Saturday at 5:15. Two of us ordered the cioppino -Unfortunately, the execution was inconsistent. One bowl arrived flaming hot, while the other was lukewarm with soggy bread. We sent the cold one back and they did remove it from the bill. Portion-wise, it was underwhelming: approximately two clams, three mussels, no crab, and overall not what we expected for the price point. For a seafood stew at that cost, we were hoping for a more generous and balanced presentation. We also ordered a beet salad that came under an odd covering of sliced apples. They Mary's chicken was rubbery. The sourdough bread, nice servers, and generous wine pour were notable, but not enough to save the meal or have us come back.

The service was amazing and fast. Our two year old was acting her worst and the servers were very helpful. The food though, I felt like could be better. I hoped I didn't end up with just a steak on my plate like the pics. But alas they were plated separately. The angus steak wasnt medium and still dry somehow. It was more medium rare/rare. The drinks were very good. My partner said his duck was overcooked a little. The French onion soup was very very salty. It was everything a tad bit off. But the Christmas tree they had was beautiful and the decorations. I'm glad they kept them up late!

FOOD - Spring Salad: mixed greens, carrot ribbons, strawberries, candied pecans, cubed goat cheese, avocado, with strawberry dressing. This was tasty and a nice, light starter. 4.5/5 - Duck Leg Confit: duck leg with braised cabbage, fried kale, apple in a mango raspberry sauce. This was soooo good! I highly recommend it. I've never had fried kale before and I'm obsessed. And the duck meat was fall off the bone. 5/5 - Vanilla Crémeux: caramelized apples, brown butter crumble with meringue. Light and creamy. Not overly sweet. 4.5/5 SERVICE: Steve was amazing! He made friendly, observant, and made great recommendations! 5/5 FINAL THOUGHTS: I would definitely come back. The food was so good. The only thing that was kinda ehhh was I did say it was our anniversary when I made reservations online but it must have been missed. No anniversary greetings or any mentioning of it at all. Oh, well.

The salad was excellent, best one I've had in a long time. The steak frites were tasty. Not pictured but the family thought the ravioli was delicious. Our server was friendly. I really like the style of the restaurant, exposed brick and some dark wood. Very nice.

Met up with my parents at this spot my dad found. Super cute interior, very classy and clean. Loved the cushioned half circle couches (I don't have any photos of the interior unfortunately). We started with their house made sourdough bread & duck liver mousse - both tasty. I was skeptical about the mousse because of the name but it was super creamy and paired with delicious port soaked cherries. My family ordered the ricotta cavatelli, halibut and steak and frites (subbed the fries for crispy smashed potatoes). The cavatelli has good flavor and al dente. The steak was a little more cooked than we asked for but it's a thinner cut so it was ok. The aoili paired with the crispy smashed potatoes were great. We ended our meal with a pot de creme which was delicious! So light and creamy and great variety of flavors. Our server, Joe, was attentive. Always making sure we had plenty of water and all requests were met. It was a good balance of attention without feeling like he was smothering us. I will definitely be coming back sometime soon.

One of our desserts, not overly sweet, very balanced.

Tried this place on a whim for a birthday and couldn't have been more pleased with the food, staff and our table. The penne pasta was fabulous and was enough to take home for a lunch. The halibut special really hit the mark for me, to be honest I have to order halibut specials because I just looooove it, so take it with a grain of salt or not when I say their halibut special was on point. It's upscale from the average restaurant but you don't need a tuxedo! Bring a loaded wallet or pay down your credit card ahead of time, there's no bogo deal.

Ask the Community - Reds' Bistro

    Is there a dress code?

It's a nice place but not stuffy, I would say just no pajama pants:)

Does Red's still have the bone marrow and clams appetizer?

They were not on menu on 08/01/2002.

    What is the corkage fee?

A review stated the fee. I believe it was 25.00.

Who doesn't love the idea of a speakeasy?? We decided to head to Roseville in pursuit of a secret place. We found the secret door, knocked, and a young man answered. He asked for the password. Unfortunately I am not on social media and that's where you're supposed to find it. Bummer! I decided to use my own password. It worked and we entered the inner sanctum. It was a cool, smallish place with nice decor. The bar was the first thing we saw. I looked around to see a few tables and couches to the left. It was pretty early and there were only a few people there so we got a cozy little table in front of a velvety couch. I went to the bar where a burly tattooed OG bartender greeted me. I ordered an old fashioned and a raspberry lemon drop. My old fashioned was done very well. I'm on an old fashioned kick right now and love to try them at different places that look like they know how to make them. This one was really good. My friend wasn't so keen on her lemon drop, saying the lavender was a bit overpowering. We had another round and this time she had something different that she enjoyed. My second old fashioned was just as good as the first. It was getting later and more people happened to have the password and it was getting crowded. We were done, paid the tab, which wasn't bad considering how most speakeasy's can be pretty pricy. Overall, it was a great experience, the place was nice, friendly, and the drinks were done well. Give it a shot. Find the password, or use your own if you dare!

The food, though, was a bit underwhelming. It wasn't bad, just nothing special or memorable compared to the coffee. I still feel like this feedback should be given though, because the situation could have been avoided... When I arrived there was no one in line in front of me. I place an order for a single latte then waited... Then I waited and waited. It took 30 minutes to receive my latte. That is truly unacceptable. I will explain the situation further. There was 1 person working at the shop. She was kind and had a positive attitude. However there was an issue with the order of operations. She was constantly taking everyone's orders, and no one was there to make the drinks. Generally a coffee shop will take an order, maybe 2, then make the orders that were already taken. But this was not the case. She continued to take orders until the coffee shop was completely full of people waiting for their order. The people there were getting anxious and one couple told me they have already been waiting 30 minutes for their food. They were talking to each other and mentioned that they might need to abandon their food and leave because they had an appointment. They asked about the food and the girl mentioned that it might be another 5 minutes. They anxiously waited. Luckily, some girl rushed in and started working. But this entire time a man was standing awkwardly behind the counter with his own coffee. A customer asked him if he was making drinks and he told him, "No, I'm just the owner." That is odd to me. I also heard from a regular that they thought the owner was a female, so maybe his is a co-owner? Regardless, he did not help and he did not give customers a good impression. It seemed inappropriate also for him to drink his coffee behind the counter. The perception that customers have mean something... But after the second employee started working, orders slowly began to be fulfilled. The upset customers slowly received their food and drinks. It took me 30 minutes (around 28 really) to receive mine. The drink itself was okay, but order of operations did not make sense for the situation. I hope that this feedback is taken in a constructive way. The coffee shop itself is in a great location and had nice decor. The tables were clean. And the employee was nice. But it would be helpful to have a heads up when they are that far behind. They should mention the wait time. And it makes sense to take care of orders before accepting new orders. I personally won't be back, but others I spoke to mentioned this experience was not the usual, so that is hopeful.
