Nice place for ambiance and good service, but food left something to be desired. To be fair, this was a couple months ago and I mostly forgot what we ate. What I do remember was ordering the baked brie - twice! First time it was cold, near frozen on the inside. We sent it back and next order was a little better but again cold on the inside. And one of the spotlights above our table was very bright so we asked them to dim it a little, which they did, but another server turned it back up a few minutes later and seemed annoyed that we had it dimmed so we didn't ask again. Not sure what was going on that night but based on our experience we probably would not go back. Others seemed to enjoy their meal that evening so may have just been us. read more

Four of us dined for the first time at Reds Bistro on 3/19/22. We ordered oysters, sourdough bread, steak and salmon. The oysters were good. The sourdough bread and butter was delicious. The steak okay. And the salmon was very good although the portion was incredibly small. The portion size of the fish was about a 2 inch square. And it was paired with asparagus, radish, fennel, etc. They could include potatoes or rice with the entree. I left hungry after spending $36 on a salmon entree. This little restaurant is phenomenal. From the freshness of the ingredients to the service and ambiance, everything is outstanding. Brought my family here to celebrate my anniversary as well as my daughter's birthday. My daughter and I both ordered the sea bass special. It was a generous cut of fish and the Indian masala seasoning went very well with it. My wife ordered the shrimp pasta and she loved that as well. Presentation on the plate was beautiful. The server was very attentive and checked in on us frequently. We had the crème brulee which was great as well for dessert. I hope this place continues to be successful and expand its space. read more

Fantastic spot! Great for a nice meal date night, their menu changes constantly and there's a new item every 4 weeks or so. Great open space vibe with table, booth and high top group tables. Awesome for group, and the food is phenomenal. Beer and wine only but sounds like that's changing in the future with an expansion. Awesome spot and a must visit in Loomis. Little French and American bistro flare, we'll be regulars. I've already come twice in 2 months, can't wait to go back! Flourless chocolate cake was amazing! I wanted to love this place. It's very cute. The servers are so nice. But the menu just doesn't have enough to offer, and our entrees were just okay. What drops them down to 3 stars is that we waited more than an hour for our food after ordering. We were only a party of 5, but it was a Saturday night. Still, the place is small and should have been able to accommodate us without that kind of wait. Also, the croutons on my caesar were so tough that I lost a filling by trying to eat just one of them - no joke. I had to spit it out, it couldn't be chewed. We tried the sourdough appetizer at the recommendation of our server and found it didn't live up to the hype. Literally the best meal that we've had since the pandemic began! Abby (our server) was so personable and did an AMAZING job of recommending wine, dishes, and dessert to us. We kicked off the night with beverages (a unique wine listing) and beet deviled eggs for our appetizer. We then move on to our entrees of chicken breast with sweet potato mash and the vegetables Gnocchi (an amazing vegetarian option). Both were delicious, flavorful and had a variety of textures. Went for dinner last week. Overall good experience. Here's my review: we ordered scallops and French onion soup for starters, which both were excellent. For a main me shared a steak which was perfectly cooked. For fine dining in the French bistro genre, I would have expected a few options for the steak, including bernaise or herb butter. Also, the fries were kind of soggy. Not like the steak frittes you would hope for. And they were just serve with ketchup, no aioli or even mayo. Although to be fair, they didn't advertise it as steak frittes, but that is standard bistro faire so I did have that in mind. And aioli is so easy! And mayo even easier! And both standard French bistro faire. The asparagus was overcooked. Our server was very friendly, but didn't know the menu super well. At the end of the meal we were not offered deserts. We didn't want them, but just missed the mark for standard fine dining to offer. I love options for local fine dining, so I intend this as taken for constructive criticism. read more

Our experience. Steven was an excellent server. The food was delicious once we finally received it. It took over an hour from the time we ordered entrees until food was in front of us. Waiter came to the table 4 times apologizing for the delay and assuring us the food was coming. We had dessert. Paid the bill. Tipped 20%. There was never an offer to even take care of our $10 dessert (in my opinion one of the four meals or at least a round of the extra drinks we ordered should have been comp'd). I will not return. Came here on a Saturday at 6:30pm. We were told the wait would be about 30 minutes. We made our way to the bar and decided to dine at the bar. The food and drinks were amazing. We ordered the filet medium rare which was prefect! Very hard to find a restaurant that can get that right. The filet did have a sauce and caramelized onions. I personally prefer my filet plain. Surprisingly, topping for the filet was still good. They have a very limited menu. I loved the ambience and decor of this place. Very well done. Looking forward to coming back here! read more

YUM. the hostess (who was so sweet), told us that they could seat us early. we got seated at our table and after hearing stephen's recommendations and confirming what we were going to order, we knew it was go time.. filet mignon baby! *insert drooling emoji*. our server, abby, was serving many other tables, so when she got to us, she was apologizing for the wait. which we expected, it was valentine's day afterall! no biggie. then she slapped us with the, "i do have to tell you we're all out of steak options". womp womp. we ordered the sourdough with whipped butter to start, as we needed more time to find new selections. i think the chefs forgot to fire it, because we waited about 22 mins for it, and right as it was brought to our table, our entrees followed. our table was tiny so three big plates felt crowded (& rushed)? the salmon was delicious and the pasta had great flavor though! we decided to try their dessert which was an excellent choice. that peanut butter crumble is what dessert dreams are made of. overall, despite them being slammed, everyone was so friendly, and abby did a great job as our server. i was back on forth on whether to give a higher rating, but we were honestly so bummed that they were out of the filet.. which is an item on their regular menu. i understand that you can't account for everyone's selections ahead of time, but we both were so excited to have a nice steak dinner :( parking is a little slim around the restaurant, but there's a huge lot nearby. not sure if we'll make it back as we live about 45mins away, but it might be a better experience on a regular day! read more

My partner and I came to Red's Bistro with big appetites and even bigger expectations. Not only were our bellies filled by the tremendous Chef Red, but even our expectations were exceeded by the tantalizing cuisine provided to us by the Bistro. My partner and I started with a nice Pilsner and shared deviled eggs and steak tartare. The deviled eggs were absolutely perfect and the tartare was an exquisite meat experience in my mouth. After the apps and beers, we opted for a bottle of an aglianico, my favorite kind of red (maybe my second favorite Red after tonight ). My partner ordered a medium rare ribeye (amazing) and I had the pork schnitzel sandwich (also amazing). Red provided us with a homemade curry ketchup for the fries, and as immaculate as everything else was, this might have been our favorite part of an amazing meal. After a second bottle of aglianico, we decided to go for an order of the oysters. Nothing like incredible aphrodisiacs to cap off a great date night! But we couldn't stop there. Chef Red informed us of the espresso chocolate cake, and I was already feeling a bit naughty, so of course my partner and I had to share a slice. Abby, who greeted us, was a delight, and our server Gwen was amazing. It was a very busy night, and our service was still excellent. Disappointed. We have eaten hare several times brought friends who had not been here yet. This time not a great experience. We wanted fish menu said Trout. We order and then told no Trout tonight kitchen is out. Reservation was at 5:15 right after they open. Told no fish replacement. Waitress not helpful. As one of our guests said after we left "it felt like she didn't want to be there". We were extremely disappointed. Food was "Okay" wife had to have salad because she does not eat meat other than fish. Waitress had nothing to offer to replace not having fish available. The bread as an appetizer and the beet salad were AMAZING. Smash burger and NY strip were good. The logo burned into the bun looked cool, but produced an unpleasant smell with each bite--it didn't impact the taste though. Maybe ask for no logo in the bun if you try it. The fries were just ok, too salty for our liking. The service was wonderful, very cute place with nice ambience. It was our first time at Reds' and we will be back to try other menu items. read more

My BLT was one of the best I've had, with lots of flavorful bacon, spring mix greens, and what appeared to be heirloom tomatoes, on a very fresh roll with a flavorful aioli. Wife loved her little gem salad with added chicken breast- the chicken was well seasoned and delicious. - Service was very good, our server refilled drinks and checked on us without being intrusive. - Value is good... the prices are a tiny bit high but the food is excellent, the restaurant is clean and all in all, it's well worth what you pay for. - Shout out for the fun 80's music that was playing! My husband and I stopped by for lunch today! He had the Cuban sandwich and I had the fried chicken sandwich. This was by far one of the best fried chicken sandwiches I have ever had (maybe even better than Nash & Proper). The hot honey glaze was the perfect balance of sweet and spicy. I don't tolerate spice well and it had just the right amount of heat. The truffle fries were also really good! My husband liked his sandwich as well.
