    Steve was fabulous

We were celebrating our son's 29th birthday. Steve made the night fabulous. The oysters and duck were amazing. We love Loomis!

You would not know it, but this is the beet salad.

We grabbed dinner on a recent Saturday at 5:15. Two of us ordered the cioppino -Unfortunately, the execution was inconsistent. One bowl arrived flaming hot, while the other was lukewarm with soggy bread. We sent the cold one back and they did remove it from the bill. Portion-wise, it was underwhelming: approximately two clams, three mussels, no crab, and overall not what we expected for the price point. For a seafood stew at that cost, we were hoping for a more generous and balanced presentation. We also ordered a beet salad that came under an odd covering of sliced apples. They Mary's chicken was rubbery. The sourdough bread, nice servers, and generous wine pour were notable, but not enough to save the meal or have us come back.

The service was amazing and fast. Our two year old was acting her worst and the servers were very helpful. The food though, I felt like could be better. I hoped I didn't end up with just a steak on my plate like the pics. But alas they were plated separately. The angus steak wasnt medium and still dry somehow. It was more medium rare/rare. The drinks were very good. My partner said his duck was overcooked a little. The French onion soup was very very salty. It was everything a tad bit off. But the Christmas tree they had was beautiful and the decorations. I'm glad they kept them up late!

FOOD - Spring Salad: mixed greens, carrot ribbons, strawberries, candied pecans, cubed goat cheese, avocado, with strawberry dressing. This was tasty and a nice, light starter. 4.5/5 - Duck Leg Confit: duck leg with braised cabbage, fried kale, apple in a mango raspberry sauce. This was soooo good! I highly recommend it. I've never had fried kale before and I'm obsessed. And the duck meat was fall off the bone. 5/5 - Vanilla Crémeux: caramelized apples, brown butter crumble with meringue. Light and creamy. Not overly sweet. 4.5/5 SERVICE: Steve was amazing! He made friendly, observant, and made great recommendations! 5/5 FINAL THOUGHTS: I would definitely come back. The food was so good. The only thing that was kinda ehhh was I did say it was our anniversary when I made reservations online but it must have been missed. No anniversary greetings or any mentioning of it at all. Oh, well.

The salad was excellent, best one I've had in a long time. The steak frites were tasty. Not pictured but the family thought the ravioli was delicious. Our server was friendly. I really like the style of the restaurant, exposed brick and some dark wood. Very nice.

So yummy! The vibes here are great as well, wish the place was bigger to fit more guests !

Met up with my parents at this spot my dad found. Super cute interior, very classy and clean. Loved the cushioned half circle couches (I don't have any photos of the interior unfortunately). We started with their house made sourdough bread & duck liver mousse - both tasty. I was skeptical about the mousse because of the name but it was super creamy and paired with delicious port soaked cherries. My family ordered the ricotta cavatelli, halibut and steak and frites (subbed the fries for crispy smashed potatoes). The cavatelli has good flavor and al dente. The steak was a little more cooked than we asked for but it's a thinner cut so it was ok. The aoili paired with the crispy smashed potatoes were great. We ended our meal with a pot de creme which was delicious! So light and creamy and great variety of flavors. Our server, Joe, was attentive. Always making sure we had plenty of water and all requests were met. It was a good balance of attention without feeling like he was smothering us. I will definitely be coming back sometime soon.

One of our desserts, not overly sweet, very balanced.

Tried this place on a whim for a birthday and couldn't have been more pleased with the food, staff and our table. The penne pasta was fabulous and was enough to take home for a lunch. The halibut special really hit the mark for me, to be honest I have to order halibut specials because I just looooove it, so take it with a grain of salt or not when I say their halibut special was on point. It's upscale from the average restaurant but you don't need a tuxedo! Bring a loaded wallet or pay down your credit card ahead of time, there's no bogo deal.

    Is there a dress code?

It's a nice place but not stuffy, I would say just no pajama pants:)

Does Red's still have the bone marrow and clams appetizer?

They were not on menu on 08/01/2002.

    What is the corkage fee?

A review stated the fee. I believe it was 25.00.

I want to start by saying that we've been coming to this establishment for many years, which makes…read moreit even more disappointing to see it continue to decline with each visit. When we arrived, we were seated quickly with no reservation and no wait, which was the highlight of the experience. Unfortunately, everything went downhill from there. Our server introduced himself, but communication was difficult throughout the meal. We ordered drinks and asked for a few minutes to review the menu. When we asked what the soup of the day was, he initially told us clam chowder, then immediately said he needed to go find out. More than 10 minutes later, he returned, and when we asked again, he admitted he had forgotten and left once more. After another lengthy wait, he finally informed us the soup of the day was split pea. We then attempted to order a pizza and were told that pizzas could not be ordered until 10:30 a.m. At the time, it was only around 9:30 a.m. I decided to order the Peach & Prosciutto Flatbread appetizer instead, only to be told that couldn't be ordered either because it was made in the oven. None of this was communicated when we were first seated, nor was it noted on the menu. It makes little sense to open at 9:00 a.m. while offering guests a menu containing multiple items that aren't actually available for another hour and a half. Had this been clearly explained from the beginning, it would have saved a great deal of frustration. By this point, I was hot, irritated, and no longer interested in ordering food. Had we not already received our drinks, I likely would have left. The other members of our party ordered the $21 breakfast burrito and the $25 smoked prime rib sandwich. Both were extremely mediocre for the price. The burrito was wrapped in a corn tortilla rather than a flour tortilla, had already come unrolled, and quickly became a messy, difficult to eat disaster. The prime rib sandwich was served on very dry bread and lacked flavor. Neither dish justified the premium pricing. The dining environment was equally disappointing, there were flies everywhere. We spent much of the meal swatting flies away from our food and ourselves, making it nearly impossible to relax or enjoy the experience. Management should seriously consider addressing this issue with proper fly traps or Quikstrike. After our food arrived, our server never returned to check on us, ask how the meal was, or offer water refills. When the bill was finally brought out, we waited another 10+ minutes before he returned to process payment. By then, we simply wanted to leave. What was most noticeable was how many people were waiting for tables while service moved at an incredibly slow pace. Faster, more attentive service would have allowed tables to turn over more efficiently and reduced wait times for other guests. Overall, this was one of the most disappointing dining experiences we've had here. Between the poor communication, lack of attentiveness, unavailable menu items, mediocre food, uncomfortable dining conditions, and excessive wait times, the value simply isn't there anymore. We left feeling frustrated and disappointed. The service we received warranted a $0 tip, and for the first time, we're questioning whether we'll ever return.

A Hidden Gem Worth Finding!…read more My wife and I recently took a little lunch field trip to Penryn Grill, and what a pleasant surprise it turned out to be! From the moment we walked in, the hostess made us feel welcome. She did a fabulous job greeting us, making recommendations, and helping us navigate the menu. Our waitress was equally impressive--friendly, efficient, attentive, and genuinely kind throughout our visit. At first glance, some people might overlook Penryn Grill. It's tucked away next to a service station, and many might assume it's just another roadside dive with average food. Nothing could be further from the truth. This place serves high-quality food with outstanding service and a relaxed atmosphere. Following the hostess's recommendations, my wife and I decided to share several of the restaurant's most popular items so we could sample a little bit of everything. The shrimp tacos were absolutely fantastic and completely lived up to the hype. Fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared, they were easily one of the highlights of our meal. Next came the fried pickles, which were our way of testing the waters. They had a crunch similar to fried zucchini but with even more flavor. Add a little ranch dressing and you're in business. Crispy, slightly spicy, and packed with flavor, they hit the palate with a bang. We also ordered the Penryn Burger, made with a delicious short-rib patty and all the fixings. It was juicy, flavorful, and clearly made with quality ingredients. Another home run. The outdoor patio provided a great setting for lunch, complete with good music and a relaxed atmosphere. It made for an enjoyable afternoon and a memorable dining experience. The food was fantastic, the service was excellent, and we will definitely be back. We've heard the fish and chips and chowder are local favorites, and they'll be at the top of our list the next time we visit. Penryn Grill is proof that you should never judge a restaurant by its location. This hidden gem is absolutely worth the stop!
