Been wanting to try this place for a while. We had some time for a late lunch/early dinner and went downtown to check it out. Tucked away in Greektown it's in a great location. The greeting and environment were very warm and inviting. We ordered the rib tips and The Classic Combo which was a choice of two meats. I got the Texas brisket and Applewood chicken. All of the meat was smoked perfectly and had a great taste. There were six choices of BBQ sauces. My personal favorites were the Memphis Mudd, Michigan Cherries, and Carolina Tang. We also had a side of the candied yams which may have been the best I have ever tried! I could literally eat those everyday! The only con was that the drinks were on the expensive side and much of the meat on the rib tips was kind of tough. All in all a nice BBQ spot. I was in Detroit a year ago for work & really wanted to go here but there was a youth convention in town and every restaurant was packed so we went to a bar - no kids! Here it is a year later & the first thing I say to my coworkers is "Can we go to Red Smoke for lunch?!?" I didn't look them up online, unjust had a feeling they would be good & I was right!! The inside of the menu is a bit on the pricier side (to me) but after eating a pulled pork sandwich & absolutely loving it I am sure it is worth it! As I mentioned I had a pulled pork sandwich & it was amazing. The sauce options are on the table so the meat came plain. I tried a piece that had fallen out with no sauce and it was so flavorful. I am a bit of a baby about spice so I stuck with the less spicy sauce but all of them were so good! Something I really liked was 2 people in my party got a brisket sandwich & they were given a choice of lean or fattier meat. I know the flavor is in the fat but I don't like it! I thought being given the choice was awesome. I also like that they have 3 different dry options - shoestring, steak or sweet potato. I'm trying to get a coworker to inter-office me some but no takers yet. Might be the fact that those damn inter-office envelopes aren't good friendly! When I think of BBQ in Detroit, I always think of Slow's - little did I know that I've completely overlooked this gem. Located in Greektown near the casino, Red Smoke BBQ is a great spot for after work drinks or filling up on delicious brisket and mac n cheese. The waitstaff is very friendly and the restaurant has a surprisingly warm atmosphere and decor despite being in Detroit. I got the Triple Play Combo which comes with a side and jalapeño cheddar corn muffin. I also tried a side of the mac and cheese. Total came out to around $33 and the portions could've fed two people comfortably. The brisket, pulled pork, and chicken were delicious and moist. The BBQ sauces were also great accompaniments (the Red Smoke has a very nice kick - my personal favorite was the Michigan Cherry Molasses). If you have comps from Greektown, they are accepted here as well. Definitely worth stopping by - I strongly recommend adding a side of mac and cheese with any order. read more

We arrived at 11:45am Sunday (they open at 11am) and were the first people there. No woodsmoke or cooking meat smells in the air. Hmmm... Started with the fried pickles app and split a bowl of the gumbo. Soup came up quick and our waiter very kindly brought a smaller bowl and spoon for us to easily split the soup (without asking - nice touch). Good gumbo, but not as zesty as we would have liked. Pickles were thin slices, coated in a light, spicy batter. Served with remoulade sauce - yum. $4 for this app, which is a steal since the portion was big. Ken ordered the half rack of pork back ribs, 6 bones. The menu says they're covered in a dry rub prior to cooking, but we tasted nothing other than bland pork. The ribs were cooked through and surprisingly moist, but I wanted a little grill char on the outside. His side was mac and cheese, which was a very good choice. $16 I had the Texas brisket plate. Once again, little flavor. Nice smoke ring, but no smoke flavor. Tender, but fatty. My side was green beans and fried leeks. Nice fresh beans, great garlic flavor. $15 There are 4 sauces on the table - honey mustard (prob good on pork or sausage), Memphis Mud (very sweet, not a fan), Michigan Cherry (surprisingly less sweet than the Mud, with nice hint of BBQ flavor), and Roasted Poblano (the most traditional of BBQ flavors, and our fav - which isn't saying much). We wouldn't go back (even knowing they take Greektown casino comps). In fact, I'm nervous to try Slow's now since some of the yelpers think this place is better. We prefer Famous Dave's for both dry rubbed baby back ribs and brisket - and if that's wrong, I don't want to be right! read more

I was a little apprehensive about going to a BBQ joint while in Greektown. - It feels like a sin not to gorge myself on some form of lamb while on Monroe St., but RedSmoke was quite impressive. It's decor made it feel like an upscale joint, but the attitude was very laid-back. The macaroni and cheese could seriously give Slows BBQ's a run for their money. I'm not sure what type of noodle it was made with, but the cheese was ultra velvety and the golden breadcrumb crust was phenomenal. There are four sauces placed on the table. The Michigan Cherry Molasses was very sweet. The Memphis Mudd had a smokier flavor. I didn't try the Honey Mustard because, well, I friggin hate honey mustard, but the Roasted Poblano was EXCELLENT. It was the spiciest of the bunch, but didn't leave my mouth feeling as though I just bit into fire. I tried each on an order of naked wings. We also tried the the pulled pork and chicken sandwiches. Both were great. Loved the brioche bun. There was a little confusion when I tried to order a side salad. I guess you can't get a traditional-size side salad without ordering an entree. The waitress suggested that I would have to pay more, so I obliged thinking I was going to receive a small plate of greens. The monstrosity of a salad that came to our table could feed five people. - If the waitress would have told me that, I would have never ordered it. And then she brought me poppy seed dressing instead of ranch and actually argued with me about it. -She insisted that it was "a different kind of ranch." -When I didn't eat ANY of the salad, she brought me a to-go box and a side or real ranch. - and it was excellent ranch at that. I also liked that the manager came over to our table at three different times. Once to say hello, a second to see if we needed anything and lastly to see how everything tasted. Basically, this place is underrated. I would definitely rank higher than Slows for so many reasons! 1) Less congested & crowded; 2) Consistently good food; 3) Great location; 4) More bang for your buck. I have been here a few times and have never left disappointed. My favorite thing to get here is the Loaded Brisket Fries and the Redsmoke Feast (if eating with 2-3 other people). The Feast is truly a feast - 3 meat choices (we got the chicken, ribs, and brisket), 3 sides (we got mac and cheese, yams, and greens), and 4 HUGE muffins! All the meat is very well seasoned and tender. And with the 4 different BBQ sauce options on the table, you cannot go wrong - you have spicy, sweet, savory! It is just amazing! The yams are probably my favorite...just the right amount of sweetness. I thought the service was great. Our waitress was friendly and very attentive. During our foodie group adventures, we stopped here for our fourth meal of the day... one would think we'd be full and couldn't eat anymore... well, you definitely don't know the group :) We went in, got seated, the server came took our drink order and got water... then another two different servers came and asked if we were ready to order our drinks... laughing... both times, I pointed to the full cups of water on the table... We decided to go with fried pickles and redsmoke feast, which came with 3 sides - we went with mac-n-cheese, greens, fries and ordered green beans and fried leeks; as for the meat, we went with all four kinds of meat (1/2 orders for pulled pork and brisket). - Fried Pickles - again, not the best fried pickles I had, but it was decent. The Feast: - Ribs - some ends were burnt that shouldn't have been served, but other parts of the ribs were tender and juicy. - Chicken - bit dried out... didn't want to order it, but it's included... they should allow you to select any three of the four meat selections. - Pulled Pork - some were juicy and tender and others were dried out... the BBQ sauce help - Brisket - the best part of the BBQ Feast - the brisket was juicy and tender and I could have consumed the briskets all night long! I would definitely order this again. - Mac-n-Cheese - not worth it... not sure if it was just on this day we visited, but full of cheese, lack of taste, we only ate like 10% of it. - fries - it's fries - greens - again, on this visit, the taste wasn't there... - green beans - the green beans were well cooked but not sure what the purpose fried leeks were for... it really didn't help the dish. The 2016 Entertainment book has a BOGO for this place, and I had been wanting to try it for a while. I have NOT tried Slows yet but we are actually going to go this Sunday, since we will be in Detroit and want to compare. Our favorite BBQ place, and IMO the best in the area, is Bad Brad's, in Shelby Twp., so we held that up to Red Smoke in comparison. THE GOOD: -Food was very good. The sauces were a little different than others I have tried - my favorites were the poblano (waitress explained this as a typical BBQ sauce) and the Michigan cherry. There was another one, I forget the name, that was also very sweet. -I ordered the 2-meat combo with pulled pork and the apple-smoked chicken. Both were good although I expected the chicken to be more apple-tasting. -Boyfriend ordered the 2-meat combo with pulled pork and brisket, he said the brisket was just like room temperature though (not nice and hot). -We ordered the chicken quesadilla egg roll for an appetizer which was very interesting. Chicken, corn, cheese inside an egg roll wrapper. I'd order it again. Came with salsa and sour cream too. -I ordered the candied sweet potato for my side which was DELICIOUS. I hold all candied potatoes up to Beans and Cornbread's, which is insanely good, and it was almost as good as theirs. THE MEH: -All of the BBQ plates (1 meat, 2 meat, or 3 meat) come with a jalapeno cheddar muffin - interesting taste, not spicy which was good - and then only one choice of side. I'd rather just have two choices of sides and no muffin though. -When we walked in, we were offered any of the high tops near the window ... I hate high top tables so I gestured to the back of the restaurant and asked if we could sit there (non-high tops) and the hostess said yes. (why couldn't she offer us a choice in the first place??) -Waitservice was a little slow. I wouldn't come here without a coupon, but it's in a convenient location (Greektown, right near the hotel/casino) if you are downtown. For two 2-meat plates ($18.99 each) and the appetizer ($10.99), plus tax, it would have been about $50, so instead it was $35 with the coupon plus tip. I'm looking forward to eating my leftover pulled pork and candied sweet potatoes tomorrow, and the waitress gave me some little containers for the BBQ sauces too which was nice. You certainly get enough food here - I have about half of my plate left and the appetizer was huge, too - but I'd say the food is about 3.5/5 stars and the service maybe 2.5/5, for a 3-star average. read more

My husband, brother-in-law, and I ended up here as a 2nd choice after we discovered that 'Taste the Pizzabar experience' is defunct. We jumped the Peoplemover to Greektown and I remembered that Red Smoke is owned by (my favorite bakery) Astoria. We were not wowed by the service, which was friendly but erratic, but we all agreed our dishes were tasty and the variety of sauces offered was good. I ordered the pulled pork, which was smoky and tender and best complemented by the cherry-molasses sauce. Hubby ordered the brisket sandwich and slathered it in honey-mustard sauce -- delish! Bro-in-law ordered ribs & popcorn shrimp. The ribs were good, but the star of this meal, and of the evening, was the shrimp, which was covered with a perfectly spiced breading and delicately fried and served with a to-die-for spicy remoulade. Try it! We walked in about 5 minutes after a huge (30 person) birthday party that was seated next to us. Our waitress had been on duty since 9am (it was about 5pm) and she flagged under the weight of the b-day party, but remained friendly throughout. All in all, a good experience (although no Slow's), and I'd definitely give them a 2nd try. read more

Sorry to say, Detroit...but I've had BBQ all over the US (the planet, in fact) and this place just did not live up to my expectations. A great location, unique two-floor layout and great, smokey smells wafting through the air were not enough to turn the meal into something special. Add a fairly high price tag for 'Q and that adds up to a less than stellar experience. I am a big rib fan, but this time opted for a pulled pork sandwich (ala carte) as we were headed to a football game and did not want to be overly stuffed. Although the sandwich itself was generous, the pork was a tad too fatty and also a bit greasy...it also needed an accompanying sauce due to lack of a true smoked-in flavor or rub. I ended up having to combine two of their table sauces as (individually) one was too sweet and the other too zesty, together they sufficed. As a side, the sandwich came with a (very small!) cup of slaw which was way too runny for my taste. I ended up sharing one of my dining companion's mac-n-cheese crock which came baked and it was quite good with a crispy outer crust and several different kinds of cheese. Side dishes alone do not make the restaurant, so in summary this was not the dining event I was hoping for so I will just keep searching. read more

There are 5 sauces to choose from on the table, which were okay. At the time I was there, the show was split between the bartender (large group of people sitting at the bar), and the cooks. Had an early dinner tonight at Red Smoke Barbecue in Greektown. We'd read the reviews and decided to try it ourselves because the wait at Slows doesn't appeal to me. We parked at Greektown Casino and walked around a bit to work up an appetite. First impression when we walked it was that we loved the decor and felt like it was a very comfortable, welcoming atmosphere. Not very crowded when we got there but within 15 minutes the place filled up and seemed to be a lot of large groups. But the service was great even though they seemed to get slammed very quickly. There was a selection of Michigan draft beers that they seem to really push. Bud Lites were fine for us though and we both ordered the Classic Combo where we got to choose 2 meats and a side and it came with a cornbread muffin. We both got the brisket and pulled pork which was every bit as good as Slows and we didn't have to wait. But why is it the meats at barbecue places around Detroit always seem on the cold side? I like my food hot and this bothered me. I asked, at the end of the meal, if there was a reason it's on the cool side and the waiter confirmed it should be hot, "straight off the grill" is what he said. Grill? I was confused. Our meal came with a side but if you wanted another side, it was going to set you back $3.99! Sorry but that's absurd for a side of cold slaw or baked beans! Come on Red Smoke! I could see $1.99 but there's no way I'm giving you $4 for chopped cabbage and you probably paid $4 for a 20 pound bag of beans. One other small complaint was the bathrooms had those toilet paper dispensers where you can only get like 3 sheets at a time. Drives me crazy. It's like they're rationing TP! But it was clean and that's a big plus. We'll go back if we're downtown but probably wont make a special trip. read more

Came here with my best friend and cannot say I was disappointed. The macaroni and cheese was so delicious and the collard greens were amazing. We both got the double meat combo. She got sausage and brisket and I got brisket and chicken. We both agreed the brisket was rather dry but our other meat was great. The sauce options are great for any taste, sweet or hot. Red Smoke BBQ is a nice addition to the Downtown dinning scene. The restaurant is located in one of Greektown's historic store fronts. Prior to becoming Red Smoke, it was a traditional Greek bakery and restaurant. The building was completely gutted and renovated. It is now a two story BBQ wonderland. I had the BBQ pork ribs and beef brisket. The ribs were tender, yet with slightly chewy, which I prefer to the meat falling off the bone and missing my mouth when taking a bite. The ribs had a nice smoking flavor and slight zip from the dry rub. The beef brisket was tender and delicious. The brisket had nice mild smoke flavor that was enhanced by 5 available sauces. As my side, I had green beans and fried leeks -- cooked to perfection. I loved the green beans! My only complaint: The meat was served luke warm vs piping hot; however, I will be back to give them a second try to impress me! read more

#RedSmokeDetroit LIVID is an understatement So I ordered some macaroni and cheese from #Redsmoke. I realize that my to-go portion is MUCH smaller than my portion if I were to dine in. I call and voice my concern and the guy on the phone says to bring it back. He was the bartender. So I bring the food back and he says... the owner says this is the correct size. I say, ok, but if I were to dine in the portion would be double this. Bartender dude says: Well that's what the owner says I ask can I speak with the owner he goes to the back and come back and says "the owner says he's busy" I said so he's not going to speak to me bartender says "nope" I'm RED at this point I said what's his name George George what Im not giving you his last name (so you really think I can't find out. IF THAT'S HIS REAL NAME) I said the only thing I want is the normal portion I get when I dine in. I USE to go there often. I had high hopes for Red Smoke, because it's closer to my work building than Slows (which I love). But I came here and was just underwhelmed. There was absolutely nothing bad about Red Smoke, but there also wasn't anything spectacular that really set it apart. I've tried the Mac and cheese, which is ok, but kind of tastes like it was stuck in the fridge and then reheated in the microwave. I've also tried the sweet potatoes, and those were just really chunky, which might not be a down side for everyone, but I wasn't really expecting stringy chunks of sweet potato in a bowl to come out. As for the entrees, I've tried the st. Louis style ribs, and the pulled chicken. Neither of these are bad, but the ribs were kind of dry and hard to get off the bone. The chicken was surprisingly the best thing I've had there, especially considering I usually don't like chicken at all. Overall, I'd come here again if I had to, but honestly, if you're looking for really good smoked food in Detroit, you're better off going somewhere else. read more

Bowl of Gumbo absolutely best since New Orleans vacation, around the table Brisket, Pulled Pork, Ribs, Jumbo Smoked Wings, Beans with Smoked Pork Belly, Cornbread and Mac&Cheese a truly great downtown BBQ. Authentic deep south style Smoked over Hickory Wood for a deep rich flavor and smoke ring. 5 BBQ sauces me favorite the Michigan Cherry Molasses WOWED tried them all , a tasting sample for all of us. I've been a customer here for about 5 years now and this past Sunday, I experienced some of the worst service ever. I will not be back and I advise all of my Facebook friends not to come here until the service gets better. They were completely empty and my group of 3 (including me) was told it would be a 20 minute wait! (The tables were empty and they were more than over staffed) Just as we were about to sit and wait, the very rude greeter (Janai) came over (rolling her eyes) and told us that they could seat us at the open table that we had requested. After being seated, 20 minutes go by, Still no server. I kindly went up and asked the greeter, who my server would be so I could atleast put in a drink order. She rudely responded and said "she didn't know who my server was!". I said "okay, is there any way I could put a drink order in with you". She then said "No, that's not my job, I'll find your waiter". Shortly after that encounter, the waitress comes over to the table aggressively asking if we're ready to order, which we all were at that point. She rushed every single person as they tried to order as if she was super busy and couldn't properly tend to us. After ordering, it took the food a hour to come out. My counter-partner did not like her food. She had ordered the chicken egg rolls and assumed it was coming with corn salsa on the side and not inside of it. She explained that to the food runner and asked could she just have Mac and cheese instead and he said ok. The waitress came over and asked my counter partner why didn't want the eggs rolls (after only taking a nibble of half of one), she kindly explained. 2 minutes later, the manager (Ahmed) comes over and asked what was wrong with the egg rolls, she explained to him that she didn't know it came with corn in the inside and would like to order Mac and cheese instead. He then asked her again why she didn't like the egg rolls and she explained again. (At this point, I felt as though, I was a 2 year old getting harassed by my mother on why I didn't eat my veggies). He did not stop there, he asked her again for the third time why she didn't like the egg rolls and rudely said that he would not take them off of her bill because it was not his fault that she didn't read the menu correctly and that his kitchen had made her meal exactly how if were supposed to be made. I couldn't believe the manger had responded like that, I then explained to him that she followed protocol. She did not eat eat the meal and there was nothing posted around the restaurant stating "no exchanges", so I couldn't really understand why he couldn't exchange her meal. He then said he would take it off this one time but never again. Im embarrassed for this business. I was very disappointed that the manager of the restaurant along with his staff, were so unprofessional and argumentative. As I stated, I've been a customer here since 2013, and the food has always been AMAZING to me, as well as the service but I wouldn't dare spend my money here again. I've tried to get in contact with the general manager/owner to express my concerns but no luck yet. read more

Very nice place. Wow has Greek Town changed. Started with the fired pickles. Then me and my girl spilt the two meat. We had two portions of pulled pork, fries and corn bread. The fires were flamin hot, the pork not so much. I think the pork was good enough not to ding the rating because of it. In all honesty, its pulled pork, its not cooked to order. My date and I came here last night for dinner while doing stuff downtown. We were in the mood for BBQ and thought we'd give this place a shot. The place is quite nice. It's right across from greektown casino in the greektown restaurant area. Quite easy to find, and not overstated. We were seated almost immediately, and our waitress was awesome! I wish I could remember her name, but she really did a top notch job. Very smart, outgoing and funny, plus she really knew the menu. We had a few questions about sizes of stuff and what came with and without the meal. We ended up splitting a traditional plate of food, with chicken and brisket. We also ordered an extra side of sweet potato fries. My date got potato salad for his as well. I will say, it was more like sweet potato chips then fries. They were still good, but a touch overdone. We both liked them, so it was good. I didn't try his potato salad, but he seemed to enjoy it. The brisket was perfect! Not the best I've had, but very good. The chicken was excellent, and had a nice smokey flavor to it. They also have 5 different types of bbq sauce at the table as well. The only thing that was weird was the bathrooms. They were hard to find and we had to ask both on the main floor and upstairs as to were they were. If your dining on the main floor, you have to walk downstairs into the basement to use the restrooms. Also, there's an upstairs bathroom as well way in the back. We are in town from Cleveland, and wanted to try something new. So glad we did! We started with the loaded brisket fries which are awesome. The brisket was cooked perfectly, and the steak fries enjoyable. Cheese settled a bit to bottom, but tasted great. For lunch my wife had the fried catfish platter and described it as the best catfish she has ever had -- I tried some and agree, it rivals what I've had in the Carolina's or Georgia. The black eye peas with rice was good, but the highlight of the sides on her plate was the cheesy jalapeño corn muffin. Buttery goodness! My meal was a bit more contemporary -- a burger but served with pulled pork on top. It was good, the burger was nothing special. But the pork was amazing and their BBQ sauces are divine. Next time I'll just get a sampler of pulled pork and brisket, they were delicious!! Highly recommend this spot as the food is tender and flavorful and prices are moderate and not too scary. Redsmoke has a casual but classy atmosphere with friendly and attentive wait staff, as would be expected from an establishment of this sort in Detroit's Greektown. What stands out most about Redsmoke is their collection of signature sauces - five unique blends to add a punch of flavor to your meal. Redsmoke - a wonderfully hot and spicy jalenpeno bbq sauce with a bold finish Roasted Poblano - A classic bbq sauce with a hint of heat Michigan Cherry - a sweet cherry/vinegar blended sauce Memphis Mudd - A sweet but zesty option Honey Mustard - A classic smoky honey mustard sauce, what you'd expect from a bbq smokehouse. Of these sauces, it is difficult to choose a favorite. It depends on the dish, and my best experiences were when I combined multiple sauces together. I tried both the pulled chicken and beef brisket dishes. The pulled chicken was a little more dry than I had hoped, and came pre-loaded with a welcome dose of Michigan Cherry sauce to give it more depth of flavor. I found the pre-loaded sauce insufficient though, but I had a great experience when mixing the Michigan Cherry with Roasted Polano and just a splash of and Redsmoke sauce. The brisket, unlike the chicken, was delicious even before adding sauce. The meat was lean cut and seasoned with a salty spice. I tried this one with each of the five sauces, but found myself constantly reaching for the Roasted Poblano - which paired perfectly with the meat. As a side, I enjoyed the macaroni and cheese, which has to have been some of the better tasting macaroni that I've had in quite some time. It was boiled and baked, with a well spiced breaded topping. **TL;DR** Brisket was awesome, and sauces variations were enough to take the pulled chicken to the next level. The hubs and I went during the Kid Rock concert weekend, and to our surprise, this place was not as packed as we expected!! We were seated immediately upstairs and I absolutely adores the exposed brick and hardwood flooring!! Service: Our waitress was very attentive, despite TWO parties with eight or more people!! (You know, I still to this day don't understand why this place attracts so many LARGE GROUPS!! There were large groups galore in here). She recommended our appetizers, entrees, and drinks!! Ambiance: As mentioned before it was really inviting... HOWEVER... because of the two levels and all of the groups, it was sooooooo LOUD!!!! A little too loud!! Food/Drinks: For apps we got the naked whole chicken wings. They were okay... I can hook up a batch ALOT better... Entrees, they were out of spare ribs for the spare ribs and Cajun fried shrimp combo, so I was comped the shrimp if I got the pork back ribs.. OKAY DEAL!! I ordered the infamous munchers, and greens with my order with the cornbread muffin... Greens... meh tasted like glory greens to me.. nothing special. Same with the mac-n-cheese. The hubs got the triple play combo with baked beans (tasted like pork and beans to me) and sweet potatoes (also not worth trying again in my opinion). HUGE portions, so I have no CLUE what some others are speaking about. BUT... (because there's always one...) the Strawberry Margarita was ABSOLUTELY the best I have ever drank!! My friends and I just went to Red Smoke and our waiter/bartender just grabbed a used glass off of a dirty table to fill up with ice and give to our friend. I honestly have never seen this before at any restaurant! We quickly got up and ran out. I visited Red Smoke with my mom, grandma and grandpa this past weekend while visiting home. Another new BBQ place in Detroit which I would put on par with Slows. Neither one of them wowed me, but they both do a solid job and the experience is good overall. The inside of the restaurant is charming. I love the openness and the stars and curlicue pigs hanging from the ceiling. Our service was friendly and pretty much standard. We ordered an appetizer to start, which was probably the best part of the meal. It was a skillet of jalapeno cornbread, baked to order. Fantastic! Definitely some of the best cornbread I've ever had. For our meals, my grandma ordered gumbo which she thought was great and well spiced. My mom ordered the pulled chicken sandwich, my grandpa the Andouille sausage sandwich, and myself the beef brisket sandwich. When I got my sandwich, I was a bit turned off by the amount of fat on the brisket, so I switched sandwiches with my mother. My sandwich was good, but nothing to rave about. Others thought the same of their dishes. The assortment of BBQ sauces they offer are great to pair with any of the meats, though. I especially liked the Memphis Mudd. Great BBQ in Greektown. I enjoyed the pull pork, along with various sauce options. My favorite was the Michigan Cherry. The meal came with a delightful jalapeño corn bread and the choice of one side (of about a dozen great options). I went for the sweet potato fries, which were sliced like thick ruffle chips. I have been here a handful of times and had great food, great drinks, and great service every time. I see a lot of negative comments about the brisket, which I never have had. I have however had their fried pickles, YUMMY!! Whole chicken was good. Not dry at all. Not over cooked. The pulled chicken was also good. It had a little fat in it, which I'm not a fan of, but I won't mark it down because of that. Pulled pork is excellent! As far as sides, sweet potatoes are SWEET, but yummy. THe baked beans are good, nothing to brag over. My husband thinks the cheddar jalapeno cornbread it the best thing ever. Oh, my husband also says the catfish appetizer is amazing (I don't eat fish). So there's the little blurb about the food. Sauces, mix and match. I am not a fan of the cherry molasses. The honey mustard is pretty good. The rest, I just mix them up until I find the perfect combo. The ambiance is nice. I wish there weren't so many people begging for food/money when you walk out, but that's not their fault. Every time I've been there the servers have been friendly and efficient. I've gone there with large and small groups alike. Their usually have a nice beer selection as well. So, that's my though. Stopped here while in town for Lions and Tigers games. My group got the Triple Play (delicious, so much food he couldn't finish) , pulled pork platter (extremely moist), chicken platter (also very moist), and the Ultimate Pit burger (well received). The gumbo soup was well seasoned and tasty. In terms of sides, the fried leeks and green beans were extremely salty, and potato wedges and red beans and rice delightful. We liked the Memphis Mudd and Red Smoke sauces the most. We disliked the jalapeno cheddar muffins because they were extremely greasy. They looked as if they had soaked in oil for awhile. They did also wait til after our food came to bring drinks but it was a busy Saturday night and service was otherwise good.
