Probably one of the best vegan ramens I've had recently! We got yuzu and spicy miso, yuzu broth was very nice. Spicy miso was a little too spicy but we still enjoyed it. They add a smoky flavor to the ramen by covering the bowl with a smoke machine and I thought that was clever! Also I enjoyed their squiggly thick noodles as the thick soup coated them well. I wish the soup was a tad bit hotter (in temperature) We also had avocado sushi, which was pretty good! The rice was dense but had a nice smoky flavor to it. Reminded me of Kyoto pressed sushi I terms of the consistency. The lady at the register (you order your food at the register first and they'll bring it out for you) was very nice and she explained all the different options by showing us pictures. Note that they don't serve alcohol!! My boyfriend really wanted a beer so that was a bit disappointing. Hope they are working on the license permit ~ The restaurant is small and they have a dark decor. Delicious ramen with an exciting presentation!! I love how creative they are with their ramen flavors. I have gone with the yuzu sesame ramen and the red hot miso. Both are very delicious, the red hot has a very rich umami flavor and the yuzu sesame is fun and citrusy. I've opted to get the smoke infusion every time because it makes it that much more special. I don't even know where to start this place was so awesome. I should mention first and foremost that this restaurant is ACTUALLY safe for celiacs. I have NEVER been to a restaurant, including a dedicated gluten free place, where I didn't get a mild rash, which is one of the first signs of cross contamination for me. I had ZERO reactions and this place isn't even a dedicated gf restaurant! 5 stars for that alone, and they will have me as a customer for life.‍ I ordered from Postmates, so I can't comment on the atmosphere or how the dishes are presented at the restaurant, but I CAN tell you the yuzu sesame ramen with gf noodles was delicious. The soup was still hot and the noodles were separated so they weren't soggy. The broth was rich and flavorful and my "meativor" bf , who generally turns his nose up at anything without meat, like, he will LITERALLY scoff, absolutely loved it. This is from a man who has actually lived in Japan y'all, so I feel like his opinion may hold juuust a tad more weight than mine. ;-) He didn't even notice there was no meat in it! He actually grabbed the receipt off the bag so he could remember what we ordered, to order it again for next time. We both enjoyed the roasted miso and avocado rolls, but our favorite were the taco rolls. We will definitely be coming back, even though I guess it's kinda pricey, but honestly on the low end for food that is gf, so it's worth it to me because I can apparently eat there with zero issues. Plant-based food always has me skeptical but Red White delivered on the flavor. I had the Yuzu Sesame (No 5) and Red Hot Miso (No 8) which were both recommended to us by the worker. The noodles were so chewy and you can order it smoked to spice it up even more. The toppings are: soboro (soy meat and tofu), crispy onion, corn, arugula, and alfalfa. The broth is pretty thick and on the saltier side, so they give you a side of rice for that very reason. You can pour in some of the broth and make your own risotto to mild out the flavor and basically create a new dish. I also really loved their appetizers and honestly filled up on that more than the ramen. The roasted miso added some umami flavor to the creamy avocado and paired so well with the rice. The bright purple color threw me off but the mac and beets were addicting. It wasn't too cheesy but still creamy and resembled the texture of regular mac and cheese. They just opened this new restaurant in LA with their original location being all the way in Boston. I really did my best to enjoy the ramen but it was so salty I couldn't finish it so I took it back to dilute it at home. It's actually the best vegan ramen I've had in LA so I was glad they came. For first timer, I was suggested 2 steps: choose ramen then choose soup. Ramen has: (1) Ramen (2) Combo (3) Mix Soup has: No 3,5,7,8,9 I actually wanted to try yuzu which they say was very famous but accidentally swapped the bowl with my friends because we didn't know how they're supposed to look like. So I ate the curry instead. It was good tho. I couldn't tell the curry itself was vegan. The smoking bowl is very instagrammable. I totally recommend getting some shots or videos of your bowl. It's very pretty! I and my friends just thought that our bowls were a bit salty. I wanted to finish the soup but it's too flavorful to do so. Otherwise their ramen is PERFECT!! This is a good place to eat, don't get me wrong, but there are smaller things within the restaurant which just bring it down slightly. Before going forward, I would still attend and eat here without hesitation. There are just a few aspects to keep in mind before coming. So, positives: food is great and this is a vegan restaurant, which is great to see. I'm not vegan myself, so this is an option during Lent for many. Our party tried everything on the menu and we loved them all. Everything was pretty filling. The atmosphere was very intimate and arguably romantic. So, some of the cons would be the size. The place is pretty small, and the same goes for the parking. To get there, you have to also think about street parking. If you get unlucky, then you're not eating there at all, unfortunately. The last con I would say is the amount of options. Due to the lack of many options, the service is super fast, and the presentation for the food is great too! We got the red hot miso with a level 7, and the ginger curry. The red hot miso can have the spice level altered from 1-10. My boyfriend said anything more than 7 would be too much for him, and he likes a lot of spice. The curry ramen was a broth, not thick like actual curry. I liked that it was actually a curry broth! The cook and server were really nice and answered the questions we had. They brought out the food really fast too. We didn't try the smoke because we wanted the flavor of the ramen alone. I just went here for the grand opening. Wow I am impressed. I knew some items were vegan but it was so good I didn't realize it was a full vegan menu. So many ramen places only make a pork base so I was so happy to have a full vegan broth, since I do not eat pork. I really enjoyed everything I ordered. I got the yuzu sesame ramen which had the perfect amount of spice. The bowl was so large I was able to come home with a nice takeout box. I also got the red hot miso ramen which was also really good and had an extra spicy kick to it. If you want something extra spicy, get this one! The sides were also amazing I really enjoyed the Mac & Beets which was a vegan Mac and cheese mixed with a beet powder. The roasted miso avocado impressed me as well. Such a cute meatless ramen house! Seating and service is very approachable! The menu is small but robust!! You can't go wrong with any of the option! I got the miso and it was very goooood! My ramen is smoked which I loved the flavor does have a smokiness to it so a very signature flavor throughout all the ramens! Not your typical ramen house, so very distinctive flavor profiles throughout the ramens so certainly sets them apart from other ramen shops! This is one of those places that I'll always think about until I have it again. It's a very intimate place with a very limited menu - ramen being their main course. The delicate lighting in each table made it seem like you had the whole place to yourself, even though there are clearly other tables around you. This place has no meat - something I didn't realize (even though it's in the name of the place). The ramen has tofu. I had the spicy version of it and I gotta say....probably top 2 ramen I have ever had. Rich, not oily at all, thick noodles, just the right amount of spice, the surgical precision of spices, oof. Everything was just right on. I also opted in to get the rice and cheese option to add in AFTER I got done eating my noodles to move into the risotto portion of the meal - also delicious! As a side, we had the avocado rolls which were also truly amazing. The combination of flavors was for me, something new and exciting and could not get over just how great they were! All their ramen is vegan, they have 5 choices, we got the Red Hot Miso No 8 and the Yuzu Sesame No 5. They come out in a smoked presentation. Both had rich broths with their own distinct flavor. The red hot had a good level of heat. Came with toppings like Arugula, Alfalfa, Corn, Crispy Onion, Tofu and Soy Meat. We weren't a huge fan of the toppings, wish the Arugula was just spinach since had such an earthy flavor that didn't complement the broth and the alfalfa didn't add flavor or crunch. The noodles were cooked perfectly although my boyfriends had a piece that was lumped together. Overall very good ramen especially if you're vegan.
