Have not been here in a while, oh how i missed this place. I have usually stopped here for breakfast and that is a low 5 by itself. There are things here that keep people coming back for more. Huge menu, plenty of things to go over. Always a surprise when you try something new. I had the French Dip, too much. The Aju was delicious, the Beef was tender and delich, even the cheese set right. Burgers, always awesome. Fries were good, need salt, some seasoned salt fries would go down in history at this place. Happened to try the Swiss Roll desert, Oh, Oh, i couldn't believe it. I have been coming here since childhood and they never let me down. Sometimes I walk downtown just to grab some juice from their juice bar. Their soup is always comforting on a cold and rainy day and when it's warm out -- the patio is amazing. Pulled up and parked on a Saturday morning one of the stops on a road trip. Famished as we were we decided to stop here. It didn't seem busy from the outside looking in but it is very popular spot. It's diner cafe style place you go to the cashier and order and they bring you your order to your table. I had the BLT w/ side salad Cesar dressing. And BYO fresh Carrot Celery and Lemon juice. Which was just what I needed. I requested ice b although it was cool I like it could. My friend had the eggplant sandwich, salad balsamic and she wouldn't quit raving about it. She licked her plate clean. Another friend had the Bacon Cheeseburger and she really enjoyed how the meat was prepared. And said the fries were great. Overall friendly attentive staff. I've only had great experiences at Redwood. I love the staff, for the most part they're outgoing and really sweet. The food, except for the burgers, is really good and comes in large servings. The burgers are unfortunately dry so I don't usually order them. The best part for me about Redwood is the community atmosphere they do so much to create. They are actually a destination for larger local music acts and (pre-covid) they had really great bands playing regularly. Plus a great dance floor and an enthusiastic crowd. Awesome place! I have been here a handful of times and have never been disappointed. What I love most is their affordable menu of salads, sandwiches, and all day breakfast! Yes-that's right- ALL day breakfast. They also have 20+ beers on tap, a great wine selection, and tons of pastries and pies. Plus, on the weekends, they sometimes have live music. Service is always quick and friendly too! I had the greek salad with chicken--very good and fresh. Not the besssst greek salad I have had before, but still very good! My partner had the cheesesteak sandwich with onion rings, and he loved it! It had nice, thick cuts of meat and lots of flavor. Decent spot for breakfast or lunch. Friendly, cool vibe and you can tell this is the locals favorite. We've been by twice now in the last month and have sampled a number of the items. The gluten-free vegan pies are absolutely delightful. We had the cherry. The items off of the triad bodybuilding menu are a lot of fun. Both the real deal muscle meal and the bicep bowl were super yummy, though still a little too greasy for our taste. I LOVED the buckwheat pancakes! Great texture and flavor.The second time we came I ordered a turkey breast sandwich which was exceptionally plain but fine. Same with the grilled chicken. Fine but nothing standout. We also bought a poppyseed muffin from the front counter- dry and not so good. Overall, I give it three stars and think it's worth another visit in the future. The menu is big enough that I could understand how quality and taste could fluctuate at times. One thing that didn't fluctuate was the good service you we received at both visits. Came here on a whim on a Monday morning. Absolutely delicious veggie Benedict with eggs poached perfectly with runny yellow but firm whites. Perfectly grilled mushrooms, tomatoes, spinach. And, omg the hollandaise was to die for; made with all the top notch from scratch high quality ingredients you'd expect in a 5 star gourmet restaurant. And, we are meat eaters, so got the tasty 4 piece side of bacon ( generous, so many places just do 3 piece these days). I also really appreciated the home fries that were from lovingly hand cut potatoes vs where so many restaurants get lazy using the pre grated frozen hasbrowns. We have been going to this place for 20 years and it is consistently offered quality food at reasonable prices in a very clean establishment. The staff is friendly and helpful and there is entertainment a few times a week ranging from trivia night, to local bands. Definitely not going back here after this morning. They were clearly understaffed and overwhelmed, so we were patient with the wait time. As soon as they set my breakfast down, I noticed a big bug (beetle?) with its legs sticking out of the gravy.. we told the server and he grabbed the plate and walked away, no apology. Comes back with a plate, again no apology, that had new eggs, but the rest was cold. Pretty sure it was the same food, with the bug picked out. No apology, no offer to refund, no offer to make me something different- Why would I want to eat gravy from the same pot that clearly has bugs cooked into it?? The couple that had ordered before us sat through this whole debacle without receiving their food. They asked numerous times and were shrugged off.. Finally someone comes out and says their order was placed as "to-go" by mistake. Hands them the order still in to-go boxes... which had been sitting on the counter for who knows how long. Again, no apology and no offer to remake or refund. 2 stars only because we've come here before and the food is decent, but we won't be coming back. read more

The reviews and photos on Yelp make this place look way better than it is. I ordered dinner for myself and my kiddo to split and it was absolutely appalling. Whoever made this and thought, yes this food is great for the customer, either doesn't know what fresh good food is or just doesn't give a crap about their job or the customers. My food was so gross it was unbelievable. The lettuce under my mozzarella sticks was incredibly old and all brown. Like the old brown rotten salad you throw away from your fridge. That was the 1st issue. Looking at the rest of my food, it got worse. My onion rings weren't onion rings at all. They were very thin slices of red onions that were barely battered at all. They were just long pieces of limp undercooked onions. It looked like someone just didn't know how to cook onion rings, and since there was no manager on duty, they just winged it. And lastly I had the French dip sandwich. The red onions inside were the same. They looked off in color. And then I looked at the meat in my sandwich and it was DISCOLORED. NO JOKE. Some pieces were green and orange. See pictures please. At that point I was so turned off, I didn't touch any of it. I even called them. They said no manager was on duty and they were sorry. They said that Uber Eats would have to help me with the rest of my issue. That was all. Dear god, please talk to your cooks in the kitchen because that food was inedible. read more

It is extremely difficult to write this review because I have loved Redwood Cafe for over 25 years but due to the overwhelming unpleasantness of my experience tonight I feel that I must. My gal and I arrived to see our friends band Pepperland play a bit past 10:00 and we heard them going strong and when we approached the door, a faux Rasta man, who was apparently the guard rudely said "we're closed" I replied but all of our friends are in there and it is just 10:00 and our friends are playing in the band! He said "well you should have gotten here when they did" When my wife expressed her disbelief he said " Don't you try to pull some white girl power trip on me" It is a shame I that we have devolved into such a state that we cannot even treat one another kindly, especially at a Beatles tribute show! read more

What a great find! While dropping of our kiddo at Sonoma State we wee looking for a good breakfast spot and based on you guessed it Yelp we came across this place. The parking can be a little tricky based on how busy downtown Cotati is but we lucked out as we were pulling up someone was backing out. Inside this place is a little eclectic and by the appearances looks like they might have a cool night vibe with live music but unsure but where we sat looked to be a stage with lights all around. From the front the size is a little deceiving but they have plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. This is a walk up counter type of place and then they bring out your food. Everyone ordered a little something different but for me it was their fit omelette with egg whites, fresh carved turkey, bacon, avocado cheese and other great ingredients. This omelette is huge so next time I would share but had tremendous flavors and was all around delicious. What also impressed me was their salmon bagel sandwich...full of smoked salmon, cream sheer, red onions, tomatoes and capers on your choice of everything or plain bagel. Had to sneak a bite from our daughter and wound most definitely get this next time. Also surprising but most places don't know how to perfect well done bacon and this place does. Well done doesn't mean burnt and congrats you nailed it. My family and I loved this place and now that we will be in the area more often with our college student can't wait to see what others options this restaurant has. read more

Waited....waited...finally a young woman came out and from 20 feet away yelled to pick a table. We did. Then waited for what seemed like forever, until the same girl came over, handed me the oddest menu of my 47 years. ***Let me set the ambiance for you.... When you walk in, there's a stage to the left. This place is huge. There's odd things all over the walls. Pictures of muscle men. Gross. It just felt weird. I ordered Gluten Free Waffles with Strawberries & Cream $12.25. I ordered small Orange Juice. Price not listed assuming at most $5. I am expecting to pay $31 and will add a tip. She asks me for my credit card. I respond well what is the total amount? She tells me $45. I offer the prices online menu she says that they charge $3 extra for bacon, $3 extra ham, extra for fruit etc.. if I want something that is $13.75 it will be just eggs, potatoes, toast. At that point I tell her please CANCEL my order. I have been going to Redwood Cafe for decades!! They must have new owners and practice price gauging. Ask before you pay! This is one of my favorite breakfast spots when I come to visit my dad. He's more of a Denny's guy, but with a vegan daughter he indulges my eating preferences. Finding parking is pretty easy. I love the atmosphere of Redwood Cafe and the fact they have outdoor seating. The staff has always been friendly every time I've gone in. The vegan breakfast items I have ordered are always flavorful and filling. My dad, who complains about everything, likes the food here as well. The only thing he gripes about here is price, but for the quality of food it is reasonable. The ingredients taste fresh and service is pretty good considering how busy they get. Their coffee and teas are delicious as well. Even better, the location makes it easy to walk off some of your meal afterward. Such a jewel! read more

I used to frequent this cafe often when I worked in Rohnert Park. I really liked their Cobb salad. I quit going about 20 years ago because I felt the place had gotten seedy and dirty. Fast forward 20 years, new ownership, a clean environment and still a good Cobb salad on the menu. This is a come to the cashier and order place. They bring the food to your table, which was done very promptly. I did have an issue with them putting a sliced hardboiled egg on the salad where the yolk was entirely green (an egg that green will add enough of a sulfur taste and smell to ruin the entire dish for me). I had them remove the egg and as they didn't have any cooked eggs that were done properly, I just did without. They were extremely gracious, offering me extra of any other salad item, which I declined, it's an ample size salad. I was waiting for a friend who was running late, so I held off eating until she arrived. While waiting I was checked on a couple of times, inquiring if everything was all right with my food, which was nice. Then about half way through our lunch a very sweet gal came over with a perfectly cooked, PERFECTLY, sliced hard boiled egg. That's true customer service and concern. I purposely did not take any photos as I believe this can sometimes come off in an intimidating fashion to the proprietors. And this gave me a genuine sense of the importance of customer satisfaction the proprietors have for their guests. Kudos. read more

Well, all I can say this place used to be good... Why? Well decided to visit this morning and we got food and drinks that were edible.That's the only reason for two stars, service was horrid. First off this place is a self serve bus stop style cafe, not a problem but the layout is really bad. Not to mention other than a hanging "order here" sign there is no indication of this. Second, the woman behind the counter seemed impatient and even asked us for our drink in a rush after trying to get her attention. Once I ordered my coffee and a hot chocolate I took a breath and was hit with "that it?!" I replied no. She then got me with "ok then, what els?!" At this time my partner is trying to Remember the name or the item she wanted. She seemed upset and even walked alway. I wouldn't be upset that she was rushing us to even walking away but we were the ONLY people ordering, and with very few people eating in there let alone waiting for food I didn't understand what the rush was. Boris customer service. I will add there was a tall gentlemen who seemed friendly and like he was just grinding away. The food... It was food. The corned beef hash seemed very light on meat and had about two cups of potatoes. The meat was paper thin and nothing special. We also ordered the Huevos rancheros, mistake... There was only two eggs and was more of a rice bowl than anything els... not joke was at least a cup and a half of plain white rice o top of a single tortilla topped with a small amount of beans. The topping looked that of a cafeteria. The ration seemed that like they want to fill you with the carbs. Why? It's cheap. Bottom like paying $45 for two dishes and two drinks is absurd. I get times are tough and potatoes and rice are cheap and fill but that's no excuse for charging Premium prices for self serve style eatery and less than flavorful. read more

They try to come off as a healthy place to eat with their vegetarian options and other hokey items on the menu.. but in the end, if you're wise enough, you'll realize they're less nutritious and very much something people should avoid all together. The environment is fairly nice, though the service can be improved upon. Back to the prices.. I could probably find myself eating a lot better for a fraction of what they charge. Growing up in Cotati, this has always been a place I like to hit up! I do enjoy their wide selection of items on the menu. They have great vegetarian and vegan options as well as dishes with meat in them. They also have their own menu page from Triad Bodybuilding. This page consists of lean proteins and veggies with some complex carbs. And everything on this page is broken down into, grams of protein, fat, carbs & macros. It is disappointing to read the negative reviews. But hey....everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I have always been satisfied with the dishes I've ordered and their portions. I just love their variety of foods because there is a little something for everyone. Redwood Cafe has such a sweet, charming ambiance. With local artwork on the walls that consistently changes. Redwood Cafe also hold live music, comedy and other wonderful events on their calendar. And 2 thumbs up to the super cool Rocker guys that take our order that wear the metal shirts!!!! read more

I am a fan. Redwood Cafe has been around for years and I remember it from my hippie high school days. Only I knew it as a granola loving, tofu-centric vibe. Don't get me wrong, I am sure it can still make a mean tofu scramble or something, but it has some great cooking chops!! I chowed down for breakfast with a gluten free belgian waffle served up with fruit. Amazing texture which says a lot since GF can end up being a brick in terms of weight. This was light, and even a little fluffy. Quite a pleasant surprise. The beer and wine selection is quite advanced for a little cafe. I love the local love outside of Lagunitas. Its nice to see other local favorites like Moonlight showcased as well. Decent price points, friendly staff and a good reason to go back: great food! read more

They have delivery. I recommend to try their wraps, which come with soup, salad or fries. If it is too big you can as to be prepare for take away. My breakfast wasn't what I expected this morning. The Best juice was delicious, but my veggie potatoes was a little disappointing. I didn't finish it. And when the server came around to check on everyone, they noticed. I said "it was fine" but fine wasn't good enough. They asked for specifics and I dished, because the truth is so much easier. I was so pleasantly surprised by the response. They issued an immediate certificate, good for more than the cost of the dish. Super pleased. read more
