This is, without question, the single worst company I have ever dealt with. They pocketed all the COVID relief money, yet still had the audacity to raise rents and pile on extra charges. When their washer and dryer broke--their responsibility to fix--they dragged their feet, and when I finally paid out of pocket to get the dryer repaired, they flat-out refused to reimburse me. Then came the rent hike. As if that wasn't enough, they stole my deposit and slapped me with an additional $400 in unexplained charges. No explanation, no breakdown--just a bill. Now this mess is spiraling into a legal battle, because that's the only language they seem to understand. From the top down--owner to maintenance--this company is a showcase of unprofessionalism and incompetence. I wouldn't recommend renting from Rehmann to anyone. I rented with them for several years and it was bad from almost the beginning. I kept thinking it would improve when staffing changed, but it never did (naturally of course, my rent kept going up). The hours at the office are terrible (and not what is listed... even pre-pandemic) and that's the only place you could go to fill your laundry card for my complex (I would have had to miss work to get there in time and the office is out of the way). I didn't do laundry on site after the initial fill as a result. They didn't disclose this in advance. Every repair in my apartment was poorly done and they never had a sense of urgency (even when I had water coming into my apartment from a roof leak). They gave the very bare minimum when they had termites and had to tent (about a month after I moved in), which didn't even cover one night in a motel. I had bubbles and cracks in the paint from water in the walls and caulking that they used to fill the hole in the bathroom. When my fridge broke, it took them seven weeks for the replacement to be completed (part of this time was due to the pandemic, but not all), including two days where they left the fridge just in front of my front door in the sun. When they did paint repairs the first time, they didn't cover my things and got paint on my table (so I had to make sure I was present to protect my things for all future repairs). Many of my emails went without response (like the day I had no water). I did get my full deposit back, but if I move again from my current spot, I'll be sure to avoid any Rehmann properties in the future. read more

I rented a house in Serra Mesa that Rehmann Realty was managing for a year before the owner brought in a new management company. The lease was intimidating with 49 pages of amendments covering everything from water beds to satellite dishes to a requirement to vacuum daily. I took a ton of photos and detailed everything out on the move in sheet. The clauses requiring re-painting the place seemed ridiculous, but Rehmann indicated these were set up by the owner and couldn't be negotiated. Keep that in mind and decide if it's a place you really want to rent. When I had need for a repair of a portion of fence that blew down, Rehmann passed the request on to the owner who took about a month to come fix it. Not a big deal to me, but worth noting. This is likely due to the owner not following up on the repair more than Rehmann, but I don't know if Rehmann was checking back with the owner to make sure it was completed either. I had to call back and let them know it still wasn't fixed after 3 weeks. The owner of my property has also refused to connect up a water line to my new fridge so I can use the ice maker and filtered water, but Rehmann passed the request on to the owner for me and followed up for an answer. Laurie was always very responsive to my emails when I would follow up to make sure my rent was received if I didn't see my check clear by the 1st. She also scanned and emailed me copies of the lease and move-in documents when I requested them. read more

Not only agree with previously post about "rapeing" your security deposit but they are underhanded as well. They do nothing in the way of management as a tenant. If you have a request, expect a call back a few weeks later, after you fixed it yourself. Then they send you an invoice that if it isn't paid it shows up as a charge on your security deposit along with everything else under the sun. Don't bother with cleaning! they hire $200/hour employees to do it after you have cleaned for two days. This is how they make their money. Do not rent from them unless you don't care about service or getting your deposit back. We left our place spotless and in much better shape than when we moved in and they still charged us 70% of our deposit amount. underhanded and should be shut down! read more

Rehmann Realty is as bad as management companies get. All other reviews regarding deposits are right on. I lived in a home managed by them for 1 year. The house was turned over to us in horrible condition. Everything was dirty and the carpet was awful. They rented us the house a 4 bedroom, but as we were moving in, it turned out that one of the "bedrooms" didn't have a closet. When we contacted them about it, their only solution was a very small adjustment to our monthly rent. When we moved out, they kept over $1100 of our deposit for cleaning and paint. Everything they wanted to charge us for was clearly noted at the move in inspection, and we had pictures of everything. After disputing the charges, they sent me another check for $250. I have recently spoken with a lawyer and I am preparing to take them to court. I will update this review with the outcome. BOTTOM LINE... DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY. read more

I reached out to Angela, ( property manager) many, many times. I explained my situation and that I was in need of an apartment quickly. I explained that my credit had been severely impacted from my divorce, and that I was willing to pay more, or even have a co-signer. After feeling out the application, I called her daily and emailed her every other day, with no response. After about a week, she finally responded by email and said she had my application. I then emailed her back and asked if I could see the place, to no response. I finally had someone else call. GUESS WHAT??? She called her right back. 10 mins after that phone call I received another email stating that my application was rejected. I didn't expect her to bend backwards for me, but I excepted a little decency, maybe even a little compassion. I understand she's probably busy managing apartments, I was just asking for one phone call. read more

ZERO Stars would be the only appropriate review. Let me repeat: ZERO. Run, don't walk away as fast as you can, and rent another place. Even if you love it you will lose your most of your deposit and have to spend hours in court fighting to get it back. They will stall, delay, ask for a continuance and make you come back to court wasting hours of your life and time. My question is, why aren't landlords taking notice of the reviews and giving these people business? If you want a long term tenant, Rehmann Realty will drive them out. They do not respond to even URGENT maintenance requests. The never call back. You'll get a recording all night long on the so called "emergency line". Try it, try it before you sign a lease with them, call after hours and leave a message on the emergency line. No response, no reply, not even the following day, you have to call THEM back during busienss hours. Oh, and speaking of leases, it's about 30 pages long and they will NOT give you a copy until the day you are supposed to sign after you've given 30 days notice. Deposits: Kiss your deposit goodbye. You'll move into a filthy place, leave it in better condition than you found it and they will not return your deposit. If you do move in take this advice, which is how I won in court: TAKE PHOTOS OF EVERYTHING ON THE DAY YOU MOVE IN AND MAKE SURE THEY ARE TIME AND DATE STAMPED. Not a few photos HUNDREDS, and video, also. I took over 300 photos when I moved in, filth, spiders, cracks, etc. This company tried to bill me for OIL SPOTS in garage for a house built in 1980. Cars have been leaking in that garage since I was a teenager! PHOTOGRAPH and VIDEO EVERYTHING. Every nook, every cranny, even behind the washer, dryer and fridge. They tried to bill me for a hole the wall behind the washer and dryer that I never saw. Move everything. Take photos of everything. DETAIL EVERYTHING on your move-in checklist. Don't leave ANYTHING out, not even a minor scratch, minor stain. Blinds, windows, dirt in the runner of the sliding glass doors, windows. I can't stress it enough TAKE HUNDREDS of photos when you move IN and HUNDREDS of photos when you move out and you will prevail. PHOTOGRAPH EVERY SINGLE INCH of the PLACE from Floor to ceiling and behind doors - cabinets, closets, dishwasher (in and out), microwave (in and out), fridge/freezer (in and out), open ANYTHING with a door and take a video all the shelves, even if you need to get on a ladder. VIDEO does not lie. I did a walk, through video on the day I took possession before I moved one thing in, slow, methodical, I opened every cabinet, the microwave, the oven, the closet, the yard, the side of the house, the dirty screens, blinds, door jambs, filthy baseboards, etc. That is what will help you prevail in court. TAKE A PHOTO of FILTH WITH THE NEWSPAPER IN THE PHOTO, zoom in on the DATE of the newspaper. Do the same when you vacate the property. DO NOT TRUST writing it down on your checklist or email will get your deposit back. It will not and you'll be in court 3 days - filing, first court date and a continued court day. PHOTOS, VIDEOS, but better yet, rent elsewhere. Trust me you'll be glad you did. Tip #1: Look very closely at the estimate you'll receive for repairs. Particularly the address. Hummmm.....the company that gives the estimate shares the same tiny office space as Rehmann Realty. In cahoots? Same owners? Scam? What's more is it's an ESTIMATE, not a RECEIPT for repair. Rehmann Realty withheld my deposit and said they replaced carpet and repaired things, but NO RECEIPT for court. Why? They didn't repair ANYTHING. They thought I was too dumb to see the word "Estimate" on what appeared to be a bill. But it gets better, much better. The property was SOLD after I moved out and the realtor made a video of the property. FULLY gutted, no carpet, and laminate floors throughout. Downloaded that video and brought it to court. So someone lied about replacing carpet. Bring the proof in photos and videos and get ready for a nightmare relationship. Tip #2 SAVE AND PRINT EVERY SINGLE EMAIL BETWEEN YOU AND THEM WITH THE DATE. Keep a folder, you WILL need it when you move out. EVEN DATE THE BODY OF THE EMAIL. Tip #3 SEND EVERY piece of correspondence CERTIFIED MAIL. RETURN RECEIPT REQUESTED. DATE EVERYTHING you send via US MAIL. Save a copy for yourself. THE WORST PROPERTY MANAGEMENT COMPANY IN SAN DIEGO COUNTY in my opinion and it seems others have had a similar experience. read more

Seriously THE shittiest rental office I've ever come across. My boyfriend and I lived with them for over a year and after our 1 year lease ended, they never even bothered to check in with us to see if we wanted to sign on for another year. So basically we were month to month and then gave us shit and made us pay for another HALF a month when we were finally moving out. Also, I agree, the fucking suck about giving your deposit back. They snagged $185 for cleaning and "repairs" which there were none AND they forgot to give us back our $300 pet deposit because they said it wasn't on record. We called, bitched them out, and are getting it back thank GOODNESS! And, they suck about getting around to fixing issues. They say they'll send someone and they never do. And if they do, it's someone you can't even understand and does a half ass job. Do not feel safe as a female being home alone when they come to fix something. And another thing, if you rent from the apts. on 40th street, prepare to expect an assload of ANTS! And they'll do not a fucking thing about it! This is such a rental nightmare and unprofessional. I'm a very clean person because of my habit I developed while I was in the military. Moving from Monte Vista to 3770 40th Street unit 4 was a financial down turn for me because I only have few months left to serve for the Navy. When I moved in on July 1, 2011, they gave me a check list inspection for every single items in the apt and tell me to make sure they are ok and function properly. The list was 4 pages long. With the stress I had from moving, I initialed everything that I saw that were on the list without thinking if they're clean or working properly. My rent was $1025, and security deposit was $850. I had a 6 months lease and I never received any notice of my lease expired, what so ever. I live down stair by the back gate. There were 10 trash bins for 10 units right by the gate next to the parking lot. There was no manager for these units. Every Thursday's night, I have to push the bin for my unit out so the truck can come and pick up the trash on Friday's morning. I pushed all bins that were filled with trash from other units out every Thursday's night because if not there would be flies get into my apt. For the welfare of my health, I killed a lot of ants, flies, and spiders. I feel so bad for killing them, but I have no choice. I learned from google that we can eliminate flies with spider web. So I left some spider hanging in the living room near the kitchen. Anyway, I called them on June 1, 2012 to give them a 30 days notice, they said my sister and I have to write and statement and email to them. They sent back a letter state that my residency will be terminated as July 1st, 2012, and my final move out date will be July 2nd, 2012 at 3pm. They also stated that my present at the move out inspection is needed. I waited until 2pm on that day to call them to let them know i was coming. The lady told me they did the inspection at noon already and she had all the picture to show me. At the office, the lady was arguing with a customer on the phone and the lady in front of her. I didn't want to caused any more angry for this lady so I just sat down and talk to her about the inspection. She gave me back the tenant checklist with about 75% of the list filled with "dirty spots". My mom took a bus from San Jose to come down here to help me with moving and cleaning. It took us 2-3 days to clean out the apt. I must say I left it just like when I first move in. My mom event told me that I was way too clean. I called them on July 18, 2012 to ask about the security deposit. They said they have 21 days to send it out. I got a first class mail delivered this morning with the check amount of $64.75. At Monte Vista, I got $400 back out of my $750 deposit. Here I got $64.75 back out of my $850 security deposit. Does this make any sense? I'm going to talk to a Navy lawyer on base to resolve this issue and get my money back. They can prepare to close their rental business or I'm going to protect others from getting themselves into this scam. Hope this help! read more

I would not even give this company "1" star! This realty company is very unprofessional and very difficult to deal with. I would send emails and call a week later and they would say they never got an email. I make phone calls and they say they will call me back and they never do. They repaired my closet door to my washer & dryer but refuse to come back to paint it (it's still a piece of drywall). I have a mice problem, so they sent out the "maintenance guy" to set out traps....I could of done that!! I do not recommend renting or buying anything from this realty company! Rented this place off the internet. Apartment was listed in Lemon Grove but was really in Skyline next to a bad neighborhood. The house wasn't up to code, there were only 2 fuses to run the entire house! The plug for the dryer was wired to the stove so they couldn't be run at the same time. If the washer & dishwasher were run at the same time the sink would back up. We were constantly flipping breakers. Advertisement said house was 1300 sq.ft. but they neglected to mention that included the closed off garage which was uninsulated & had bare cement floors. We ended up using it to store all the stuff that wouldn't fit in the house. We moved as soon as our lease was up, following all their instructions to a "T". Only $510 of our $1200 deposit was returned, citing $480 for "touch up paint" & over $300 for cleaning. We had already paid about $400 to have the carpets cleaned & lawn professionally cleaned up. When I went to the house about a month later to check for a package we were expecting the new tenants opened the front door and I could see that Rehmann had repainted the entire interior on my dime. I was furious! I took them to court and won every penny of my deposit back plus court costs. Shame on you Rehmann for treating a military service member so badly! Very disappointing experience. I was very interested in a room for rent for my daughter who will be going to school in San Diego. Laurie Vance at Rehmann Realty Group lead me to believe we were the only party interested in one of the rooms they had for rent, one of our local family friends went and looked at the room for us since we are in northern California. After he looked at the room and sent us pictures we stated again how interested we were in the room, the only remaining step was for my daughter to snap chat with the girl she would be sharing a bathroom with, then I get an email stating that the room was no longer available. Out of courtesy they could have at least called me and told me they had another party interested and given me the opportunity to take the room or not....however sometimes things happen for a reason and after reading all the other reviews of disappointed people with Rehmann Realty Group I have to say I am glad that my daughter will not be renting from them. read more
