This the first negative review I have ever written. I hired Reliant to do a swap out of a 3 year old leaking water heater under warranty. The technician pointed out a bead of water on the connection pipe above the unit. He quoted $2100 of labor to swap out the unit or $650 to do just the connecting pipe. His recommendation was to replace the piping for both of my units for $1000. I stupidly agreed and 90 minutes later he was done. Unfortunately the water heater leak continued. I called the business office several times and requested that the $1000 be applied to the water heater swap. I could not get that commitment. I decided fool me twice shame on me and moved on. I skipped social media and went directly to friends for plumber recommendations. Two days later my new plumbing company had expertly swapped out the failing water heater for a labor charge of $550. I am very disappointed in Reliant but happy that I have found a fair plumber. read more

Reliant Plumbing has 312 reviews at this time and 82 are 1 star. That says a lot! My experience with Reliant; They came out on a Friday for a toilet leak. They left after ~4 hours & $1,330. The leak was fixed but the stool rocked back and forth by a full inch! I have a video. The first time that someone sat on the stool, their caulk came apart. I called Relient and they scheduled someone to be out on Monday. The Friday crew checked the clean out and ran a snake/router for clogs and they left the cap off the clean out. I didn't find this out till Sunday when I was taking out our trash. The cap was off a 3 inch pipe all weekend! Something could have crawled into my house. On Monday, the plumber removes my stool and tells me they need an additional $2,600 to complete the repair. Total is $3,900 but they'll credit the previous payment. I did not pay for the repairs. The Reliant plumber replaced the stool and left us with a rocking, but not leaking toilet. After he left, I checked the clean out. The cap was on but the plumber left a pair of channel locks. I have some experience with small business and I understand that all construction trades are in demand in Austin at this time. Probably, Reliant Plumbing grew too fast and must be having trouble getting good employees. Good employees don't leave the caps off the clean-out vents and good plumbers don't leave tools at the job site. For me, I'm going with a smaller plumbing firm and ALWAYS check Yelp. We tried to find a new plumber for our properties we own in Austin and obviously we need to keep looking. They came out and fixed a leak under sink at one of our condos last week and our tenant called last night with water leaking again last night. We spent over $2000 to have repaired. We called Reliant immediate to have checked and they didn't return call until next day. When called said they could get someone out in 2 days to check! When I told her it was an emergency she said she couldn't send someone until Monday due to technicians being on emergency and unavailable. Disappointed to say the least. read more

Reliant dispatched a plumber the next day who installed our new tankless unit that same day. From our experience, they are highly professional and provide premier customer service. We are selling our house and the buyers requested one bathtub be snaked. When my husband called Reliant, they said it was a $150 charge to come out and take a look, and that that amount would be applied to the job. When he asked how much the job would be they said something like, " well it's just a drain snake..." Implying that it would not be much. When the technician came out, he informed my husband that the job would be $450. So at that point the choice was eat the deposit and start over or just suck it up. We have bought and sold and renovated many homes and found that pricing to be obscene for 45 minutes worth of work. It just felt like they had us over a barrel. If I could give 0 star, I would. I called Sun afternoon and was told that I was scheduled for Mon morning. Then the company called me Mon morning and said it was going to be Mon afternoon. I told them that it's an emergency (clogged and smelly kitchen sink) and they need to make sure to send someone for Mon. They promised that they will. I got a text in the afternoon and it says that someone is on the way. But nobody showed up. I had to call several times. The first time they told me that the service tech is in an accident but he will be at my house in an hour. An hour passed, I had to call again and was told that they are working with the supervisor to send someone. Eventually no one showed up. I had to call again after 5pm and was told that they won't send anyone for the day. They kept stringing me around even though I told them that it's an emergency and I had to call so many times to get any updates. Very bad company and customer service! I had previously posted a positive review of this company on another platform after their service tech came out, he seemed great. However, we ended up getting the work done through a warranty with the company who did the original work. We informed Reliant, who requires half down to schedule the service, ahead of time that this might be a possibility and were told that if we ended up not using Reliant that a refund would be no problem. We let them know that we were in fact going to cancel because the warranty was going to cover the repair before our card was even charged. However, they went ahead and charged our card the next day. That was two weeks ago. We have since called multiple times about getting the over $2500 refunded and have so far gotten a run around. This is ridiculously unacceptable. It also appears that they way overcharge for their services, but that is a buyer be ware kind of issue. Not providing a timely refund on work not preformed after confirming that a refund will be no problem ahead of us agreeing to put money down is just straight up lying. So if you don't want to work with liars - don't use this company! read more

We had a great experience with Reliant Plumbing. We needed them when our pipe burst due to freezing weather. They had great communication through texts from the day the appointment was made until the day the job was complete. They were apologetic and transparent about reasons for delays in service. This was completely understood due to the high demand for plumbers throughout the city at the time. I really appreciated that they were willing and able to answer some of my questions through texts as I waited for service. Corey was on time, thorough and professional. After smelling gas near our hot water heaters last night, we called several plumbing companies before finally finding one that could send out a technician right away. Reliant was courteous and professional, and they sent out a very nice licensed plumber within an hour. He shut off the gas to the house after not being to find the leak and told us they'd have to come back in the morning to run a full pressure test. A full, VERY expensive pressure test. Unfortunately, we found out after paying for the test the tech recommended that the problem was actually a very minor issue the propane company needed to resolve. Money wasted. So why the 4-star review? 1) They sent someone out when no one else could last night. We were scared about a possible gas leak and really appreciated the prompt service. 2) The technician was kind and honest. He made the wrong recommendation, but he did the work we paid for, and I believe he genuinely thought it was the best course of action. 3) When I spoke with a supervisor at Reliant about the situation, he listened to my concerns, investigated the matter, and followed up with me. He did not give me a full refund, but he was professional and courteous, and he offered a reasonable discount. Ultimately, while I agree with other reviewers that their pricing is high, I found that they acted with integrity. Even skilled professionals make mistakes, and Reliant did right by us in that they were quick to respond after hours, sent a courteous, professional tech, and offered a fair solution to correct an error. read more

Hi all, this reflects my overall experience with Reliant Plumbing. In sum, DON'T USE. Better alternatives with more transparent pricing. In late October we had a refrigerator valve leak. We called Reliant which charged $801 to INSTALL THE WRONG VALVE. We finally had another plumber fix their mistake for $150. Subsequent plumbers said Reliant job was installed incorrectly. Here's the crux - I contacted reliant thinking they would like to remedy situation. I was wrong. No call backs. Unanswered phone from number they list here. This is its MO. Get bad review. Appear reasonable and invite customer to call, then fail to respond. Its business model relies too heavily on commission based plumbers (confirmed by their plumber). This is the wrong incentive structure for the customer. After reading other reviews, warning signs all there. By the way, Reliant quote for a water heater replacement roughly $4500. Other plumbers $1800-2300. End. read more

Edited at the bottom with updates, please read full review - We feel grossly taken advantage of by Reliant Plumbing. We would not recommend their services to anyone. Instead, we would advise you to avoid them all together. My partner and I were out of the country for work and had a young woman house sitting while away. She called Reliant due to running water in the tank of one of the our two toilets. This could have been fixed simply by adjusting or 'jiggling' the handle/chain to ensure the seal was sitting properly to stop the running water. In our opinion, the goal should have been simply to stop the leak until they could speak with the owners of the home on how to move forward. Instead, Reliant took the opportunity to 'rebuild' the entire tank on both toilets as it was the 'best solution to ensure like new operation.' The less than 1 1/2 hours of work and the 40-50 dollars worth of material that was used was billed to our sitter at $800. These toilets are 30 or 40 years old. We could have purchased and installed 2 brand new toilets for less than the cost that Reliant Plumbing charged to repair the existing ones. In reality, this should have been a 30 second fix. MAYBE a $3 seal or chain would be needed. On top of all of this, the running water continued over the weekend after $800 of work was completed. Our house sitter called Reliant to make good on their warranty and fix the running water - they would not come service the work that they did- they 'could not ensure that the running water was related to the work that they completed' over the phone, so they would not send someone to verify at all. The entire tank was rebuilt as outlined in their invoice (for like new operation!) Unless the toilet seat is causing the water to run inside the tank, the issue lies with the work that was completed with Reliant. We cannot stress how disappointed we are with the work and experience we received with Reliant Plumbing from start to finish. Our experience has shown them to be greedy, dishonest and unreliable. Update: An update to my experience with Reliant Plumbing. It gets worse. After posting my review, I speak with the Office Manager. After talking through what has happened, I learn that their policy is to not service a home with someone that is not the homeowner. Our house sitter was clearly not the homeowner, and beyond that, I was able to Face Time with the plumber and house sitter in the middle of the work. I requested that the plumber stop the work as I, the homeowner, did not authorize Reliant to service the home in general, especially for an outrageous cost of $800. I now have an even lower opinion of the company and the character of their leadership. Next, I receive a call from the owner of the company, Max. He called to listen to a customer satisfaction issue and stated that he wanted to help rectify the situation if he could. I wish he would not have called. When asking for consideration in an uncommon and unique situation, he proved to be aggressively defensive, short tempered and extremely unprofessional. After raising his voice at me, when he called me to hear my side of the story, he said that he needed 10 minutes to collect his cool and gather his thoughts and hung up. I never received a call back, and just received an email from the office manager stating that there is nothing that they would do. He confirmed that the cost of parts was less than $50 and that less than 1 1/2 hours of work was completed. $800 later, MY TOILET IS STILL RUNNING. Yet he ensures me that their work is quality and fair, in line with the market. Does anyone else think that $800 is reasonable to install a ~$20 flush valve in two toilets separate toilets? Extremely expensive. They charge $89 for an estimate, but refund if you hire them. They bid $629 for a job that uses around $150 in materials and takes about 30 minutes of time = $429/hour. The other task was bid at $757 for around $150 in materials and 1 - 1.5 hours of time = $607/hour.
